IV TLOIFF » . fpr- jyi Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Oonstubolaz^ Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it i* not mecwawuey to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, • ad by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this aature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery v. - he Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give tbe number it bears, aa without this ^ formation the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the Abolition of Gaols, Station's, < kc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of WILLIAM HENRY, native of Banbridge, county Down, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd day of July, 1898, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Shankhill, escaped from legal custody when under arrest in Glengormley Police Barrack :— Cast in left eye, bald on top of head, all shaved except moustache, which is dark ; gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 incl es high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn ; is a tramp tailor. Warrant in hands of the Sergeant, Royal Irish Constabulary, Glengormley, Lisburn, 12th August, 1893. ( 24073 c.— 15870.) Description of GIRVAN or GREER, native place unknown ( says he belongs to Ballynure, county Antrim, which is untrue), who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, obtained by false representations the sum of 16s. from William M'Cooke, of Ballymena, who keeps a lodging- house:- Leans forward when walking, cut- mark on bridge of nose, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a low dark felt hat and dark gray suit; says he is a liay- buyer and bus- driver ; has the appearance of a cattle- dealer ; has been traced as far as Castledawson, county London- derry. A warrant is in the hands of District Inspector S. R. Carter, of Ballymena, for his arrest. Ballymena, 1st August, 1893. Licensed Convict HUGH DAILY, described in issue of 30th May, not arrested. ( 551 H. C.) Cavan. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 20th July, 1893, at Killygarry, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Annageliffe, committed a rape on one Anne Rogers :— Has fresh cut- marks or scratches on face, believed left side, received in the struggle, large upper lip, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, black heavy coat, light tweed trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant issued, and in hands of Constabulary at Cavan. Cavan, 27th July, 1893. ( 23807 c.— 15436.) description of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native, of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, > a the 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance ; dark eye", slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. ( 16138 c.— 1869.) WOMAN, charged with abandoning infant child, and described in issue of 15th August, not arrested. ( 21925 a— 12255.) Down. Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR described in issne of 24 th March, not arrested. ( 526 H. C.) Cork. Description of WILLIAM WITHERS, native of Sandringham, England, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of August, 1893, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Mary's, bhandon. embezzled the sum of £ 20, the money of his employer, Maurice Murray, J. F., D. L. :— Left eye bloodshot, and has a stye or pimple on same, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout active make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 35 or 40 years of age, brown hair, turns out his toes when walking; wore a dark hard hat, blue serse coat, trowsers, and vest; is a watchman, was in the army. Warrant in the hands of the District Inspector, Cork, North. Cork, North, 19th August, 1893. ( 24250 c.— 16136). Description of MARY RYAN ( mother's name Mary Guiney), native of Lisnasherehane, who, on the 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, left her place of abode and has not since been heard of, and it is feiired may have met with foul play :— Blind in left eye, and has a scum on eye- ball, and is almost deaf and dumb, dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair; wore a black dress, brown shawl, with which she always covered her face; is a servant. ( 211657 c— 15164). onilln Description of JAMES HURSEN, native of Ballinalee, county Longford, who stands charged with having, on the. 10th August, 1893^ in the barony of Coolock, parish of Coolock, committed an assault on a fellow workman named John Duffy, from the effects of which he died on 12th inst.:— Small side whiskers, slight moustache, slight growth of beard on chin, sharp nose, sallow complexion, slight active make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 25 years of age, sandy hair; wore a cap, light tweed coat and tweed trowsers; is a migratory labourer. PATRICK LAWLESS ( attempted rape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Galway. Descriptions of PATRICK FOLON and MICHAEL FLAHERTY, natives of Teeranea, Car- raroe, who stand charged with having, on the 30th July, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kil- lanin, seriously assaulted Peter Mealia, of Teeranea, Gorumna Island, thereby placing his life in danger. 1. Broad mouth, thick lips, no beard, dark eyes, long nose, pale complexion, broad full face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 20 years of age, dark hair; wore a flannel suit ( bawneens) ; is a small farmer and fisher- man. 2. Active appearance, slight beard, never shaved, gray eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 23 years cf age, fair hair, has carbuncles on face ; > vore a flannel suit ( bawneens); is a small farmer and fisherman. Description of MICHAEL GEOGHEGAN ( mother's surname Geoghegan), native of Oughterard, who stands charged with having, between the 15th September, 1892, and the 29th June, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, embezzled several moneys, the property of the Oughterard Board of Guardians :— Speaks hurriedly, smooth shaved, with slight fair moustache, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair; is a butcher and poor rate collector. Warrant in hands of District Inspector at Oughterard. Oughterard, 30th June, 1893. ( 23319 o— 14537.) Kerry. PATRICK SHEA ( murder), described in Hue- and- Cry of 21st March, 1893, not arrested. ( 20169 o.— 8732.) Kildare. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd August, 1893, at Leixlip, in the barony of North Salt, parish of Leixlip, stolen a cow, the property of George Soden, which has since been recovered :— Blue or gray eyes, straight nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 45 years ' of age, dark hair, turning gray, face clean shaved ; wore a dark cloth coat, trowsers, and vest; looks like a butler. Description of JOHN JOSEPH BROOKES, alias GEORGE LESTON,- native of Newtownbarry, who stands charged with having, on the 13th July, 1893, in the barony of Narragh and Reban West, parish of St. Michael's, stolen an ass and cart, the property of one George Bailey, of Best. The ass and cart has been discovered and restored to owner :— Dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair, small black side whiskers and moustache, chin shaved; wore a brown plaid tweed coat', corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp labourer. Athy, 18th July, 1893. ( 23639 c.— 15132.) Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 24 th July, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County :• JOHN MURRAY, No. 1,538, 16 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, medium make, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage ; formerly belonged to 5 Gloucester- place, North, Dublin; parents reside at same place; stepfather, Joseph Carpenter; abscess mark on right arm. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, dark tweed tunic, Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,538. May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likely eventually to go to Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 566 H. C.) LAURENCE HICKEY ( robbery from a house), Hae- and- Cry, 21st March, 1893, not arrested. ( 20142 H615.) Description of TWO TRAMPS, names and residences unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Offaly East, parish of Walterstown, robbed one Martin Byrne of £ 9 15s. :— 1. Dark complexion, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, short black beard ; wore a dark cap, glazed peak, gray coat and trowsers; is a tramp- 2. Sandy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair, bow legged; wore a soft hat, dark short coat, moleskin trowsers ; is a tramp. Kildare, 8th June, 1893. ( 22921 13917). Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1893, in the barony of East Offally, parish of Ballysax, attempted to indecently assault one Violet J. Rogers : — Blotches oo lace; small gray eyes, large flat nose, shaved face, slig .; make, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair; wore a dark. brown coat, trowsers, and vest. Athy, 2nd June. 1893. ( 22821c 13736.) Kilkenny. LAURENCE ARCHER ( attempted mnrde.), Hue- and- Cry, 21st March, 1893, cot arrested. ( 19605 c— 7584.) SARSFIELD BURKE ( assault on the Police), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1892. ( 19297 c.— 6972.) king's Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 1st August, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County :— JAMES CARTY, No. 1,615, 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, ordinary nose, regular mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin; mother resides at 11, Ash- street, Dublin. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of :— Moleskin vest, dark gray tweed tunic, trowsers uncertain (" had taken ofl Reformatory trow- sers), Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,615. He is likely to go to Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 3rd August, 1893. ' ( 567 H. c.) Limerick. Description of GEORGE KIRWAN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of July, 1893, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, threatened to shoot Jeremiah Noonan : Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age; dark hair turning gray ; deficient the third finger of the right hand ; wore a dark tweed coat and vest. Is usually employed in caring evicted tenants' farms ; is an Army Pensioner and Caretaker. A warrant for his arrest has been issued. 30th Juy, 1983. ( 23715 c— 1557 ) JOSEPH O'REILLY ( embezzlement), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 21596 c 11493). WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( chargei witti murder) Hue- and- Cry, 18th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 c.— 8 « 73 « . Longford. Description of JOSEPH BURNS, native of Rathkeal, county Limerick, and a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the morning of the 31st July, 1893, in the barony of Shrule, parish of Noughavale, maliciously burned five cocks of hay, the property of Thomas Dowdall, Ballymahon, value for about .£ 8, and may have com- mitted offences elsewhere:— 1. Tender gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet higb, about 55 years of age, dark hair turning gray; low jerry hat, dark colour, and dark tweed coat; is a tramp tailor. He is now on remand in Carrick- on- Shannon. 2. Dark complexion, medium make, 30 years of age, dark hair ; is a tramp. No. 1 states thh man was in his company on night of 30th inst., and is suspected of having assisted in the burning, and has absconded, Ballymahon, 31st July, 1893. ( 23881 c 15561.)| Londonderry. JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 8141). Louth. Description of A. J. RYAN ( name supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1893, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, obtained food andlodging, value £ 1 13*. 8d., from Catherine Durnen, Drogheda, by fraud and false pretences:— Good looking, wore dark moustache, shaved face, spoke with English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore a brown hat, dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. He is accompanied by a man and two women. They have been advertising a Gladstone bag and dresses in the Dublin papers for sale, and obtained money from several persons by that means under false pretences. Their descriptions are annexed. Warrant for A. J. Ryan's arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Drogheda. Description of Mr. RYAN :— Very delicate looking, spoke with an English accent, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a dark round hat and dark coat. Description of Mrs. RYAN:— Very stout, good looking, spoke with an English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 28 years of age, brown hair ; wore a light tweed dress. Description of Mrs. RYAn :— Very slight delicate appearance, spoke with, an English accent, fair com- plexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 feet 1 inch high, about 27 years of age, fair hair ; wore a striped blue dress. It is probable these people may be committing similar offences elsewhere. Drogheda, 29th July, 1893. ( 23850 c 15509.) meath. Description of JOHN LARISSY ( mother's surname Mary Bennet), native of Athboy, who stands cha^ j& l with having, on the 10th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, embezzled the sum of £ 1 15s. Gd. from Edward Russell, baker, ef Athboy, by whom he was employed as driver of bread oart:— Smart active appearance ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark frock coat, dark tweed trowsers, and vest; is a bread cart- driver. Athboy, 16th July, 1893. ( 23583 c.— 15039 ) Description of GERALD FITZGERALD, alias WILLIAM ARMIT, native of county Meath, who stands charged on remand with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Dunboyne, parish of Dunboyne, fraudulently endeavoured to obtain goods and money on a forged cheque, drawn in the name of " Cox & Co., Army Bankers, Charing- cross, London":— Gentlemanly appearance, bald on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 46 years of age, gray hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and dark vest. This man falsely represented himself as a Sergeant- Major of Royal Engineers, quartered at Chatham, and may have committed similar offences elsewhere. Dunshaughlin, 18th June, 1893. Queen's, Description of JAMES WHELAN, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd August, 1893, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Rathdowney, robbed and assaulted on the high road one Johanna Keenan:— Gray eyes, thin nose, yellowish complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore a sleeved waistcoat, dark trowsers and dark vest; is a labonrerj Warrant issued for his arrest. Description of THOMAS MOORE, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Modreeny, embezzled the sum of £ 7 from his employer, Goodhand Pattison:— Old scar on finger of right hand, good looking, brown eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, black hair; wore a one- peaked cap, black coat, brown trowsers with a light stripe; is a servant, was 9 months in army. Warrant in hands of Sergeant, at Cloughjordan. Roscrea, 16th July, 1893. ( 23582 c 15038). Description of JOHN MALOUGHNEY, native of Curreeney, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Annaghmeadle, attempted to commit a rape on Norah Butler, aged about 35 years:— High- cheek bones, prominent chin, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a servant boy. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Templederry. Templemore, 10th June, 1893. ( 22940 c— 13940.) MARY MOLONEY ( larceny of money, ( fee.), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 20652 c.— 9573> JOHN RYAN, " PLUNKHAM" ( firing at the person), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 20121 c.— 8616). Tyrone Description of JOHN O'HARA, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1893, at Ballintrain, in the barony of East Omagh, parish of Termonmagurk, seriously assaulted Francis Donnelly, by striking him with a spade on the top of the head, thereby endangering his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer and rag dealer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the R. I. C., at Beragh. Omagh, 19th July, 1893. ( 23684 c— 15217). ( 19744 c 7901). Westmeath. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, GATELY, native of Creggs, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1893, in the barony of Farbill, parish of KilluCan, obtained the sum of six pounds sterling from Cornelius Hannan, Esq., J. P., by false pretences ; and for whose THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 1893, apprehension a warrant has been issued :— Walks with alteavy long step, careworn appearance, brown eyes, dignit cocked nose, pale complexion, round tace, stout n! l* e, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, gray hair; was a commercial traveller and shop- keeper. Delvin, 19th July, 1893. ( 23656 c.— 15163.) Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs s— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. Mullingar, 5th May, 1983. ( 2231 c— 12891.) Wicklow. Description cf the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow:— RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very « tout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, eonsists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, doth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and he is now dressed in a long dark coat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1, " 8th June, 1893. Particulars relative to convict JAMES MAGUIRE, otherwise HUGH PRIM, 695, convicted at Dublin, at Recorder's Court, on 26th November, 1886, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servi- tude :— 50 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born at Dublin ; resided before conviction at Dublin; gray hair, hazel eyes, sandy eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high ; cut- marks • n forehead, wart on chin, right side of nose, corner of right eye, and on right cheek. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on 10th July, and left on 14th July, for Bristol. He has not reported himself at the latter, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 21st August, 1893. ( 571 H. C.) Description of PATRICK DALY, who was con- victed of larceny at Monaghan Assizes, on 9th March, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant in consequence of the licence granted to him on 24th November, 1892, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked :— He is 51 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, light brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache, fresh complexion, gray eyes, cut mark on front of forehead, left side, lost one front tooth, upper jaw, kick mark on left shin, is a labourer, and was born at Tipperary. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, c. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny — two cases— and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude :— 50 years of age, single, is a stonecutter, born in Drumcoolan, Enniskillen, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where his friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet I If inches high ; right leg ulcerated at shin, bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars ' relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to ten years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen, where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown j eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 19th May, 1893, and stated he was going to Sligo. He was arrested on same date at Athlone on a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 31st May, 1893. ( 557 H. C.) Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893 ( 555 H. o.) and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him on 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native of Claremorris, county Mayo. Wanted on warrant, charged with having, on 3rd June, deserted his wife and 3 children, whereby they have become chargeable to the poor law union of Chelmsford:— GEORGE THOMAS SMITH, a dis- charged soldier, native of Writtle, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, tattooed on chest two men boxing, inside one arm figure of a woman, on the other arm trees, bracelets tattooed round both wrists, rings tattooed round fingers; wears Indian gold rings on little finger, left hand.
