HUE REOTTIiATIOH'B. All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Imh ConsUbnfau'y, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separata Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it ia not i to forward thp Informations to the Inspector- General Notices respecting all Felonies a- i such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been-: and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this mature unless they have t^ e Warrant in their possession when making, the arrest. • * Should irregularities arise in the'delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. I) Antrim • Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 17th June, 1893, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School, at Belfast :— JOHN M'KINNON, No. 620, 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout make, fresh complexion, dark red hair, brown eyes, regular nose, regular mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Ballymacarett; born at Barrow- in- Furness ; parents reside at 151, Mountpottinger- road, Bridge End, Belfast; cut- mark On left cheek. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, and laced Blucher boots, No. 25. Uncle James O'Hara lives in Little Patrick- street, Belfast. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 21st, June, 1893. PATRICK SCULLION, alias JORDAN ( firing at the person), described in Hue- and- Cry of 24th March, not arrested. ( 19619 a— 7660.) Armagh, Licensed Convict HUGH DAILY, described in issue of 30th May, not arrested. ( 551 H. C.) Cavan. Description of a MAN, name and native plac„ unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 20th July, 1893, at Killygarry, in the barony of Upper Longhtee, parish of Annageliffe, committed a rape on one Anne Rogers ;— Has fresh cut- marks or scratches on face, believed left side, received in the struggle, large upper lip, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, black heavy coat, light tweed trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant issued, and in hands of Constabulary at Cavan. Cavain, 27th July, 1893. ( 23807 c.— 15436.) Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, shoit thick nose, sallow com- Slexion, thin face, stout active make, 6 feet 6 inches igh, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 c.— 8878.) description of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Longhtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulderB, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black bard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of CHARLES O'HALLORAN, sup- posed native of county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 29th April, 1893, in the barony of Tulla Upper, parish of Tomgraney, • stolen from the dwelling- house of Catherine Murphy, Tomgraney:— A gold cross, about 2 inches long ; a gold ring, set in ruby stones; a heart - shaped medallion, and some white handkerchiefs, marked H. Hogan ; all value for about £ 5 :— Good- looking, handsome face, speaks with an English accent; long nose, fair complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a light- coloured peak cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; smart address; carries a brown walking stick. It is believed he has recently returned from England ;' looks like a clerk. Killaloe, 7th May, 1893. ( 22330 c.— 12911.) Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th April, 1893, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Bunratty, abandoned a male child, aged about 6 months, whereby the life of said child was endangered:— Very freckled face; blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 in'ches high, about 33 years of age, red hair; wore an old red foess, old gray shawl, no boots; is a tramp. Warrant issued, and in hands of District Inspector at Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge, 18th April, 1893. ( 21925 c.— 12255.) MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Hae- and- Cry, 2nd Sept., not arrested. ( 16138 a— 1869.) Down. Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR described in issue of 24th March, not arrested. ( 626 H. C.) Cork. Description of MARY RYAN ( mother's name Mary Guiney), native of Lisnashershane, who, on the 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, left her place of abode and has not since been heard of, and it is feared may have met with foul play :— Blind in left eye, and has a scum on eye- ball, and is almost deaf and dumb, dark eyes; regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair; wore a black drees, brown shawl, with which she always covered her face'; is a servant. PATRICK LAWLESS ( attempted rape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Galway. Description of MICHAEL GEOGHEGAN ( mother's surname Geoghegan), native of Oughterard, who stands charged with having, between the 15th September, 1892, and the 29th June, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, embezzled several moneys, the property of the Oughterard Board of Guardians :'—. Speaks hurriedly, smooth shaved, with slight fair moustache, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 year's of age, light brown hair; is a butcher and poor rate collector. Kildare., Description of JOHN JOSEPH BROOKES, alias GEORGE LESTON, native of Newtownbarry, who stands charged with having, on tho 13th July, 1893, in the barony of Narragh and Reban West, parish of St. Michael's, stolen an ass and cart, the property of one George Bailey, of Best. The ass and cart has been discovered and restored to owner :— Dark complexion. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 12. 1 8 9 3 . medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair, small black side whiskers and moustache, chin shaved; wore a brown plaid tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp labourer. Description of TWO TRAMPS, names and residences unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Offaly East, parish of Walterstown, robbed one Martin Byrne of £ 9 15.?.:— 1. Dark complexion, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, short black beard; wore a dark cap, glazed peak, gray coat and trowsers; is a tramp- 2. Sandy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair, bow legged; wore a soft hat, dark short coat, moleskin trowsers ; is a tramp. Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1893, in the barony of East Offally, parish of Ballysax, attempted 10 indecently assault one " Violet J. Rogers :— Blotches on lace; small gray eyes, large flat nose, shaved face, aligui make, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair; wore a dark brown coat, trowsers, and vest. Athy, 2nd June. 1893. SARSFIELD BURKE ( assault on the Police), cot arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 18th November, 1892. ( 19297 c.— 6972.) king's. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 24th July, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— PATRICK M'CORMACK, 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, medium make, fresh and freckled complexion, dark brown hair, gray eye?, short nose, small mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin ; mother resides at 29, Ellis's- quay, Dublin. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of :— Moleskin trowsers and vest, dark tweed tunic, Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,248. May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likely eventually to go to Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture hiin with £ i. ( 566 H. C.) May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likel eventually to go to Dublin. LAURENCE HICKEY ( robbery from a house), Hue- and- Ciy, 2lot March, 1893, not arrested. ( 20142 c— 8615.) limerick. Description of GEORGE KIRWAN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of July, 1893, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, threatened to shoot Jeremiah Noonan : Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fiesh complexion, round full face, fctout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age; dark hair turning gray ; deficient the third finger of the right hand ; wore a dark tweed coat and vest. Is usually employed in caring evicted tenants' farms ; is an Army Pensioner and Caretaker. A warrant for his arrest has been issued. 30th Juy, 1983. ( 23715 c 1557 ) JOSEPH O'REILLY ( embezzlement), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 21596 c 11493). WILLIAM fiTZGeRALD ( charged with msrdtt) Hue- and- Cry, ISth May, has not been arrosted. ( 98360 86735. Londonderry. JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 c 8141), Louth. Description of A. J. RYAN ( name supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the 24th July, 1893, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St. Peter's, obtained food andlodging, value £ 1 13/. 8d., from Catherine Durnen, Drogheda, by fraud and false pretences:— Good looking, wore dark moustache, shaved face, spoke with English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 3o years of age, black hair; wore a brown hat, dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. He is accompanied h. y a man and two women. They have been advertising a Gladstone bag and dresses in the Dublin papers for sale, and obtained money from several persons by that means under false pretences. Their descriptions are annexed. Warrant for A. J. Ryan's arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Drogheda. Description of Mr. RYAN :— Very delicate looking, spoke with an English accent, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a dark round hat and dark coat. Description of Mrs. RYAN:— Very stout, good looking, spoke with an English accent, full brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 28 years of age, brown hair ; wore a light tweed dress. Description of Mrs. RYAN' :— Very slight delicate appearance', spoke with an English accent, fair com- plexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 feet 1 inch high, about 27 years of age, fair hair ; wore a striped blue dress. It is probable these people may be committing similar offences elsewhere. Drogheda, 29th July, 1893. ( 23850 c.— 15509.) meath. Description of JOHN LARISSY ( mother's surname Mary Bennet), native of Athboy, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, embezzled the sura of £ 1 15s. Gd. from Edward Russell, baker, of Athboy, by whom he was employed as driver of bread cart:— Smart active appearance ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; vrore a dark frock coat, dark tweed trowsers, and rest; is a bread cart- driver. Description of GERALD FITZGERALD, alias WILLIAM ARMIT, native of county Meath, who stands charged on remand with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Dunboyne, parish of Dunboyne, fraudulently endeavoured to obtain goods and money on a forged cheque, drawn in the name of iS Cox & Co., Army Bankers, Charing- cross, London":— Gentlemanly appearance, bald on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 46 years of age, gray hair ; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and dark vest. This man falsely represented himself as a Sergeant- Major of Royal Engineers, quartered at Chatham, and may have committed similar oflcnces elsewhere. Dunshaughlin, 18th June, 1893. Queen's, Description of JAMES BYRNE ( Mother's sur- name Lynch), native of Stradbally, who stands charged with having, in the month of February, 1893, at Strad- bally, in the barony of Stradbally, parish of Strad- bally Hall, feloniously stolen a coachman's livery box coat and footman's livery coat, and being bound by recognizance to stand his trial at Maryborough Quarter Sessions on 13th April, 1893, has absconded from his bails:— No teeth in front of mouth, shaves all his face; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a stable boy. Bench Warrant issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the. Sergeant at Stradbally. Ballylinan, 23rd June, 1893. ( 21826 c.— 14338.) roscomMon. Description of MARY KENNY, who stands charged with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, abandoned her infant child under 2 years of age, whereby its life was endangered:— Gray eyes, flat cocked nose, sallow complexion, short broad face, medium make, about 5 feet high, about 26 or 27 years of age, short black hair, banging loose behind; wore an old dress, dark colour, and an old black shawl having Paisley stripe, strong laced- up boots; is a tramp, but looks like a servant. This woman said she was from outside Castlerea, and again from Gort and Williamstown, and that her husband was John Kenny, a gambler at races, Ac. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Boyle. Description of THOMAS MOORE, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Modreeny, embezzled the sum of £ 7 from his employer, Goodhand Pattison:— Old scar on finger of right hand, good looking, brown eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches liiglSbout 18 years of age, black hair j wore a one- peakeS cap, black coat, brown trowsers with a light stripe; is a servant, was 9 months in army. Warrant in hands of Sergeant, at Clpughjordan. Roscrea, 16th Juiy, 1893. ( 23582 c 15038). Description of JOHN MALOUGHNEY, native of Curreeney, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Annaghmeadle, attempted to commit a rape on Norah Butler, aged about 35 years:— High- cheek bones, prominent chin, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a servant boy. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Templederry. Templemore, 10th June, 1893. ( 22940 c 13940.) MARY MOLONEY ( larceny of money, & c.), Hue. and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 20652 c— 9573). JOHN RYAN, " PLUNKHAM" ( firing at the person), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 20121c— 8616V Tyrone. Description of JOHN O'HARA, native plaoo unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1893, at Ballintrain, in the barony of East Oraagh, parish of Termonmagurk, seriously assaulted Francis Donnelly, by striking him with a spade on the top of the head, thereby endangering his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray frock coat; dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer and rag dealer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the R. I. C., at Beragh. Omagh, 19th July, 1893. ( 23684 c— 16217). JAMES COLLINS alias BEATTY ( robbery of money, & c.), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May. not arrested. ( 19869 c— 8146). PATRICK MEENAN ( firing at the person), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 19744 c 7901). Westmeath. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, alias GATELY, native of Creggs, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1893, in the barony of Farbill, parish of Killucan, obtained the sum of six pounds sterling from Cornelius Hannan, Esq., J. I>., by false pretences ; and for whoso apprehension a warrant has been issued :— Walks with a heavy long step, careworn appearance, brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, pale complexion, round tace, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, gray hair; was a commercial traveller and shop- keeper. Delvin, 19th July, 1893. ( 23656 c.— 15163.) Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs :— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses ; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of ago, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. Mullingar, 5th May. 1983. ( 2231 c— 12891.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 28th June, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— , JAMES DUNNE, 2,428, about 19 years of age, 5 feet high, ordinary make, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long and straight nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; formerly belonged to 3, South Gloucester- street, Dublin parents dead; bUtc do la yu < truus } wd hands. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 12. Is93. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,428. His sister, Mrs. Glynn, resides at 45, Mary's- lane, Dublin. This boy's full period of detention will expire . on 27th July next, alter which date he need not burros ted. Tlfte Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with 10$. 3rd July, 1893. ( 564 H. C.) Description cf the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow:— RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage ; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and he is now dressed in a long dark coat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 8th June, 1893. ( 560 H c.) Young Offender THOMAS PERRY, described in Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 543 H. C.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN pOLIce. 6 Division. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, C. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny — two cases— and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude :— 50 years of age, single, is a stonecutter, born in Drumcoolan, Enniskillen, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where his friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet llf inches high ; right leg ulcerated at shin, bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 & 35 Yic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 8th June, 1893. ( 559 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to ten years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen, where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout spake, 5 feet 7 inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 16th May, 1893, and stated he was going to Sligo. He was arrested on same date at Athlone on a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 31st May, 1893. ( 557 H. C.) Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on chcek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock j woro all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893, ( 555 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH M'DONNELL, who was convicted of rape, at the Mayo Assizes, on 10th' of July, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him on 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet 6^ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebiows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native of Claremorris, county Mayo. Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on S9th nit., a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces :— He is 24 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair asd complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour eheck lounge suit, and black cloth top coat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Wanted on warrant, charged with having, on 3rd June, deserted his wife and 3 children, whereby they have become chargeable to the poor law union ot Chelmsford:— GEORGE THOMAS SMITH, a dis- charged soldier, native of Writtle, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, tattooed on chest two men boxing, inside one arm figure of a woman, on the other arm trees, bracelets tattooed round both wrists, rings tattooed round fingers; wears Indian gold rings on little finger, left hand. Smith is well known at Welshpool, and was recruting sergeant to the Montgomeryshire militia ; he formerly belonged to the 44th and 24th regiments. Chelmsford, 21st July, 1893. ( 565 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billericay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a set of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :— Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. Wanted for housebreaking, in Stirling Burgh, on the 17th instant:— A MAN about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches in height, fresh complexion, full round face, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise shaved; stout made; dressed in a black cord coat, dark vest and trowsers, light muffler, and black felt hat. The above- described broke into a villa about 10.15 p. m. on the above date, in company with another man who is in custody, by inserting a knife between the sashes of the window, removing the snib, raising the lower sash, and entering thereby Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry at all likely places with the view to the apprehension of the above- described ( who can be identified), and if found, to wire the Chief Constable. Description of a jennet, the property of Bryan Ward, tinker, of Tuam, which was stolen from off the public road, at Kilclooney, in the parish of Tuam, barony of Dunmore, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th inst.;— A mare jennet, between 12 and 13 years old, dark brown colour, bone spavin on the off hind leg, two white spots on the right side where the straddle rests, short tail, hair off centre from rubbing against the cart, in good condition, and value for about £ 3 10*. Description of a colt, the property of William M'Knight, which was stolen from the lands of Doon South, parish of Doon, barony of Coonagh, on tho night of 9th July, 1893:— A bay colt, a year and a half old, the hind legs white up to the fetlock, a whito star on forehead, and a white spot on nose ; value for £ S. Cole Baker, Esq., which were stolen from the lands of Ballydanid, parish of Templeniery, barony of Clan- william, on 16th or 17th days of July, 1893 :— Either Shropshires or a cross between Shropshires and white- faced sheep; all have coloured faces with more or less of a tinge of black in them. If pure breds they will have a V- shaped notch cut out of front of ear; if half- breds top of ear is cut off leaving a peak in centre; if three- quarter breds top of ear also cut off like a swallow tail.
