All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been i and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 c.— 8878.) description of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Dram- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on tbe 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked note, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Hogan all value for about £ 5 :— Good- looking, handsome face, speaks with an English accent; long nose, fair complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, a^ o. ut 20 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a light- coloured peak cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; smart address; carries a brown walking stick. Description of MARY RYAN ( mother's name Mary Guiney), native of Lisnashershane, who, on the 1st Juae, 1,893, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Cullen, left her-- place of abode and has not since been heard of, and it is feared may have met with fotll play ;— Blind in left eye, and has a Scum on eye- ball, and is almost deaf and dumb, dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 46 years of age, fair hair; wore a black dress, brown shawl, with which she always covered her face; is a servant. Description of MICHAEL GEOGHEGAN ( mother's surname Geoghegan), native of Oughterard, who stands charged with having, between the 15th September, 1892, and the 29th June, 1893, iii the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, embezzled several moneys, the property of the Oughterard Board of Guardians:— Speaks hurriedly, smooth shaved, with eslight fair moustache, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair; is a butcher and poor rate collector. Description of tho undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 24th July, 1893, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— PATRICK M'COltMACK, 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, medium make, fresh and freckled complexion, dark brown hair, gTay eyes, short nose, small mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin ; mother resides at 29, Ellis's- quay, Dublin. Tho School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of :— Moleskin trowsers and vest, dark tweed tunic, Glengarry cap, Blucher boots, No. 1,248. May hire for a time with a farmer, but is likely eventually to go to Dublin. Description of JOHN LARISSY ( mother's surname Mary Rennet), native of Athboy, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, embezzled the sum ot £ 1 15*. Crf. from Edward Russell, baker, of Athboy, by whom ho was employed as driver of bread cart:— Smart active appearance ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark frock coat, dark tweed trowsers, and vest; is a bread cart- driver. Athboy, 16th J uly, 1893, ( 23583 c,— 15039,) Description of GERALD FITZGERALD, alias WILLIAM ARMIT, native of county Meath, who stands charged on remand with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Dunboyne, parish of Dunboyne, fraudulently endeavoured to obtain goods and money on a forged cheque, drawn in the name of " Cox & Co., Army Bankers, Charing- cross, London":— Gentlemanly appearance, bald on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 46 years of age, gray hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and dark vest. This man falsely represented himself as a Sergeant- Major of Royal Engineers, quartered at Chatham, and may have committed similar offences elsewhere. Dunshaughlin, 18th June, 1893. Description of JAMES BYRNE ( Mother's sur- name Lynch), native of Stradbally, who stands charged with having, in the month of February, 1893, at Strad- . bally, in the barony of Stradbally, parish of Strad- bally Hall, feloniously stolen a coachman's livery box coat and footman's livery coat, and being bound by recognizance to stand his trial at Maryborough Quarter Sessions on 13th April, 1893, has absconded from his bails:— No teeth in front of mouth, shaves all his face; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a stable boy. Bench Warrant issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the Sergeant at Stradbally. Ballylinan, 23rd June, 1893. ( 21826 c— 14338.) Roscommon* Description of MARY KENNY, who stands charged with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, abandoned her infant child under 2 years of age, whereby its life was endangered:— Gray eyes, flat cocked nose, sallow complexion, short broad face, medium make, about 5 feet higb, about 26 or 27 years of age, short black hair, hanging loose behind; wore an old dress, dark colour, and an old black shawl having Paisley stripe, strong laced- up boots; is a tramp, but looks like a servant. This woman said she was from outside Castlerea, and again from Gort and Williamstown, and that her husband was John Kenny, a gambler at races, < fcc. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Boyle. - » Boyle, 14th June, 1893, ( 23034 c— 14095). Tipperary.' Description of THOMAS MOORE, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Modreeny, embezzled the sum of £ 7 from his employer, Goodhand Pattison :— Old scar on finger of right hand, good looking, brown eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 5 inches high, about 18 years of age, black hair; wore a one- peaked cap, black coat, brown trowsers with a light stripe; is a servant, was 9 months in army. Warrant in hands of Sergeant, at Cloughjordan. Roscrea, 16th July, 1893. ( 23582 c 15038). Description of JOHN MALOUGHNEY, native of Curreeney, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Annaghmeadle, attempted to commit a rape on Norah Butler, aged about 35 years:— High- cheek bones, prominent chin, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a servant boy. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Templederry. Templemore, 10th June, 1893. ( 22940 13940.) ( 20121 c._ 8616). Tyrone Description of JOHN O'HARA, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1893, at Ballintrain, in the barony of East Omagh, parish of Termonmagurk, seriously assaulted Francis Donnelly, by striking him with a spade on the top of the head, thereby endangering his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer and rag dealer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the R. I. C., at Beragh. Omagh, 19th July, 1893. ( 23684 c— 15217). Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, alias GATELY, native of Creggs, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1893, in the barony of Farbill, parish of Killucan obtained the sum of six pounds sterling from Cornelius Hannan, Esq., J. P., by false pretences; and for whoso apprehension a warrant has been issued :— Walks witlr a heavy long step, careworn appearance, brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, pale complexion, round lace, sto^ t make, 5 feet 7 inehes high, about 40 years of age, gray hair; was a commercial traveller and shop- keeper. Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Moyashel and Magliera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs :— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin fate, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. Mullingar, 5th May, 1983. ( 2231 c.— 12891.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 28th June, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— JAMES DUNNE, 2,428, about 19 years of age, 5 feet high, ordinary make, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long and straight nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; formerly belonged to 3, South Gloucester- street, Dublin ; parents dead; blue dots on arms and hands. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,428. His sister, Mrs. Glynn, resides at 45, Mary's- lane, Dublin. This boy's full period of detention will expire on 27th J uly next, after which date he need not be arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with 10*. 3rd July, 1893. ( 564 H. c.) Description of, the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7 th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow:— RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage ; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and he is now dressed in a long dark coat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat. , The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 8th June, 1893. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, c. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 48th November, 1885, for larceny — two cases^- and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude :— 50^ years of age, single, is a stonecutter, horn in Drumcoolan, Enniskillen, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where his friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, small month, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5, feet I If inches high ; right leg q| ceratqd at ehiti/ l^ l^' pn top of head, - f THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 28, 1893, This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 8th June, 1893. ( 559 H. C.) Detective Department, 9th May, 1893. C.) shaved face except email dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an 4 ray Reservist and a native of Dnblin. Westmeath, Description of an ass, the property of Daniel Galvin, which was stolen from the lands of Cooleenagower, parish of Kilmanahan, barony of Coolonan, on night of 7th or morning of 8th instant:— A mare ass, large size, light limbed, light gray colour, smooth new coat of hair, 4 years old, not shod ; value for £ 2 10s. Clare, Description of the following articles, the property of Catherine Murphy, of Tomgraney, which were stolen from her dwelling- house, Tomgraney, parish of Tom- graney, barony of Tulla Upper, on 29th day of April, 1893:— A gold cross, about 2 inches long; a small gold ring, set in ruby stones; a handsome heart- shaped medallion, in purple velvet and coral stones; a good silk square, brown colour, and 4 white handkerchiefs, marked H. Description of the undermentioned articles, the property of Henry Thompson, which were stolen from his house, at Tomiskey, parish of Mohill, barony of Longford, on night of 1st or morning of 2nd May, 1893, viz.:— A Brussel's carpet, 8 feet by 8 feet, red and yellowish color, small label attached, value for about £ 1 10s.; a tin kettle, holds about 4 quarts; a pot- oven, medium size ; a pot, small size; a large metal pan with handle; a steel tongs, new and bright; two silver tea spoons, hall- marked, no crest; a piece of table oil cloth, 1 by £ yards, white color. Description of a colt, the property of William M'Knight, which was stolen from the lands of Doon South, parish of Doon, barony of Coonagh, on the night of 9th July, 1893:— A bay colt, a year and a half old, the hind legs white up to the fetlock, a white star on forehead, and a white spot on nose ; value for £ S. Description of six sheep, the property of William Cole Baker, Esq., which were stolen from the lands of Ballydanid, parish of Templeniery, barony of Clan- william, on 16th or 17th days of July, 1893 :— Either Shropshires or a cross between Shropshires and white- faced sheep ; all have coloured faces with more or less of a tinge of black in them. If pure breds they will have a V- shaped notch cut out of front of ear; if half- breds top of ear is cut off leaving a peak in centre; if three- quarter breds top of ear also cut off like a swallow tail. Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on S9th ult., a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of tho Commander- in- Chief of Her Maiesty s Forces i— He is 24 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair and complexion, Description of a heifer, the property of Bernard Dungan, which was stolen from the lands of Ballin- tubber, parish of Kilcumreagh, barony of Moycashel, about 5th day of July, 1893:— Gray or strawberry colour, strong horns, rather long and pointed, branded " B. Particulars relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to ten years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen, where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, 19th May, 1893, and stated he was going to Sligo. He was arrested on same date at Athlone on a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 81st May, 1893. ( 557 H. C.) Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved ofT. ' This man w as released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 86, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he s& ould be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893. ( 555 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH M'DONNELL, who was convicted of rape, at the Mayo Assizes, on 10th of July, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him on 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet 6^ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval viBage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native of Claremorris, county Mayo. Wanted on warrant, charged with having, on 3rd June, deserted his wife and 3 children, whereby they have become chargeable to tbe poor law union of Chelmsford:— GEORGE THOMAS SMITH, a dis- charged soldier, native of Writtle, 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, blue eyes, tattooed on chest two men boxing, inside one arm figure of a woman, on the other arm trees, bracelets tattooed round both wrists, rings tattooed ronnd fingers; wears Indian gold rings on little finger, left hand. Smith is well known at Welshpool, and was reeruting sergeant to the Montgomeryshire militia ; he formerly belonged to the 44th and 24th regiments. Chelmsford, 21st July, 1893. ( 565 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billericay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a set of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :— Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. Wanted for housebreaking, in Stirling Burgh, on the 17th instant:— A MAN about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches in height, fresh complexion, full round face, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise shaved; stout made; dressed in a black cord coat, dark vest and trowsers, light muffler, and black felt hat. The above- described broke into a villa about 10.15 p. m. on the above date, in company with another man who is in custody, by inserting a knife between the sashes of the window, removing the snib, raising the lower sash, and entering thereby Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry at all likely places with the view to the apprehension of the above- described ( who can be identified), and if found, to wire the Chief Constable.
