AH Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a " Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thia mature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. 0UBLIH, TUESDAY. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 17th June, 1893, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School, at Belfast :— JOHN M'KINNON, No. 620, 17 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout make, fresh complexion, dark red hair, brown eyes, regular nose, regular mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Ballymacarett; born at Barrow- in- Furness; parents reside at 151, Mountpottinger- road, Bridge End, Belfast; cut- mark on left check. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, and laced Blucher boots, No. 25. Uncle James O'Hara lives in Little Patrick- street, Belfast The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 21st June, 1893. Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged With ha ring, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, sallow com- plexion, thin face, stoat active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a peak cap, light coat, light tweed ' trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 c.— 8878.) description of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Mother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on tie 13th December, 1892, in the barony of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years o< age, dark hair; wore a black hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of CHARLES O'HALLORAN, sup posed native of county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 29th April, 1893, in the barony of Tulla Upper, parish of Tomgraney, stolen from the dwelling- house of Catherine Murphy, Tomgraney:— A gold cross, about 2 inches long ; a gold ring, set in ruby stones ; a heart - shaped medallion, and some white handkerchiefs, marked H. Hogan • all value for about £ 5 :— Good- looking, handsome face, speaks with an English accent; long nose, fair complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a light- coloured peak cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; smart address; carries a brown walking stick. It is believed he has recently returned from England ; looks like a clerk. Killaloe, 7th May, 1893. ( 22330 c.— 12911.) Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th April, 1893, in the barony of Bunratty Lower, parish of Bunratty, abandoned a male child, aged about 6 months, whereby the life of said child was endangered :— Very freckled face ; blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 33 years of age, red hair; wore an old red dress, old gray shawl, no boots; is a tramp. Warrant issued, and in hands of District Inspector at Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge, 18th April, 1893. ( 21925 c.— 12255.) ( 16138 0— 1869.) Down. Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOR described in issue of 24th March, not arrested. ( 586 ilc.) Cork. Description of MARY RYAN ( mother's name Mary Guiney), native of Lisnashershane, who, on the 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Duhallow, parish) f Cullen, left her place of abode and has not since beer> beard of, and it is feared may have met with foul play :— Blind in left eye, and has a scum on eye- ball, and is almost deaf and dumb, dark eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair; wore a black dress, brown shawl, with which she always covered her face; is a servant. PATRICK LAWLESS ( attempted rape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Galway. Description of MICHAEL GEOGHEGAN ( mother's surname Geoghegan), native of Oughterard, who stands charged with having, between the 15th September, 1892, and the 29th June, 1893, in the barony of Moycullen, parish of Kilcummin, embezzled several moneys, the property of the Oughterard Board of Guardians :— Speaks hurriedly, smooth shaved, with slight fair moustache, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, light brown hair; is a butcher and poor rate collector. Warrant in hands of District Inspector at Oughterard. Oughterard, 30th June, 1893. ( 23319 0.- 14537.)- Kerry. PATRICK SHEA ( murder), described in Hue- and- Cry of Slit Mtrch, 1893, not arrested. Description of JOHN JOSEPH BROOKES, alias GEORGE LESTON, native of Newtownbarry, who stands charged with having, on the 13th July, 1893, in the barony of Narragh and Reban West, parish of St. Michael's, stolen an ass and cart, the property of one George Bailey, of Best. The ass and cart ha3 been discovered and restored to owner :— Dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair, small black side whiskers and moustache, chin shaved; wore a brown plaid tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tramp labourer. Description of TWO TRAMPS, names and residences unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 6th day of June, 1893, in the barony of Offaly , — « THE POLICE GAZETTE. Dark complexion, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, short black beard ; wore a dark cap, glazed peak, gray coat and trowsers; is a tramp- 2. Sandy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair, bow legged; wore a soft hat, dark short coat, moleskin trowsers; is a tramp. Kildare, 8th June, 1893. Description of a MAN, unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1893, in the barony of East Offally, parish of Ballysax, attempted to indecently assault one Violet J. Rogers :— Blotches an lace; small gray eyes, large flat nose, shaved face, sligc.; make, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair; wore a dark brown coat, trowsers, and vest. A thy, 2nd June. 1893. Londonderry, JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 8141). meath. Description of JOHN LARISSY ( mother's surname Mary Bennet), native of Athboy, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of July, 1893, in the barony of Lune, parish of Athboy, embezzled the sum of £ 1 15*. 6rf. from Edward Russell, baker, of Athboy, by whom he was employed as driver of bread cart:— Smart active appearance ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, stout make, i feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark frock coat, dark tweed trowsers, and rest; is a bread cart- driver. Athboy, 16th July, 1893. ( 23583 c.— 15039.) Description of GERALD FITZGERALD, alias WILLIAM ARMIT, native of county Meath, who stands charged on remand with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Dunboyne, parish of Dunboyne, fraudulently endeavoured to obtain goods and money on a forged cheque, drawn in the name of " Cox & Co., Army Bankers, Charing- crose, London":— Gentlemanly appearance, bald on top of head; gray eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 46 years of age, gray hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, tweed trowsers, and dark vest. This man falsely represented himself as a Sergeant- Major of Royal Engineers, quartered at Chatham, and may have committed similar offences elsewhere. Dunshaughlin, 18th June, 1893. ( 23117 c.— 14246.) queen's Description of JAMES BYRNE ( Mother's sur- name Lynch), native ot Stradbally, who stands charged with having, in the month of February, 1893, at Strad- bally, in the barony of Stradbally, parish of Strad- bally Hall, feloniously stolen a coachman's livery box coat and footman's livery coat, and being bound by recognisance to stand his trial at Maryborough Quarter Sessions on 13th April, 1893, has absconded from his bails:— No teeth in front of mouth, shaves all his face; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, fvir hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a stable boy. Bench Warrant issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the Sergeant at Stradbally. Ballylinan, 23rd June, 1893. ( 21826 c.— 14338.) roscommen. Description of MARY KENNY, who stands charged with having, on the 14th June, 1893, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Boyle, abandoned her infant child under 2 years of age, whereby its life was endangered:— Gray eyes, flat cocked nose, sallow complexion, short broad face, medium make, about 5 feet high, about 26 or 27 years of age, short black hair, hanging loose behind; wore an old dress, dark colour, and an Old black shawl having Paisley stripe, strong laced- up boots; is a tramp, but looks like a servant. This woman said she was from outside Castlerea, and again from Gort and Williamstown, and that her husband was John Kenny, a gambler at races, < tc. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Boyle. Boyle, 14th June, 1893. ( 23034 C.— 14095). Tipperary. Description of THOMAS MOORE, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1893, in the barony of Lower Ormond, parish of Modreeny, embezzled the sum of £ 7 from his employer, Goodhand Pattison:— Old scar on finger of right hand, good looking, brown eyes, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, black hair; wore a one- peaked cap, black coat, brown trowsers with a light stripe; is a servant, was 9 months in army. Warrant in hands of Sergeant, at Cloughjordan. Roscrea, 16th July, 1893. ( 23582 c— 15038). Description of JOHN MALOUGHNEY, native of Curreeney, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st June, 1893, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Annaghmeadle, attempted to commit a rape on Norah Butler, aged about 35 years:— High- cheek bones, prominent chin, gray or blue eyes, long thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed coat, light tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a servant boy. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Templederry. Templemore, 10th June, 1893. ( 22940 c— 13940.) MARY MOLONEY ( larceny of money, < fec.), Hue- and- Cry, 80th May, not arrested. ( 20652 c.— 9573). JOHN RYAN, " PLUNKHAM" ( firing at the person), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 20121 c— 8616). WILLIAM BUCKLEY ( stabbing), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19701 c.— 7876). Tyrone. Description of JOHN O'HARA, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1893, at Ballintrain, in the barony of East Omagh, parish of Termonmagurk, seriously assaulted Francis Donnelly, by striking him with a spade on the top of the head, thereby endangering his life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 or 35 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray frock coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer and rag dealer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the R. I. C., at Beragh. Omagh, 19th July, 1893. ( 23684 c.— 15217). JAMES COLLINS alias BEATTY ( robbery of money, Ac.), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 19869 c.— 8146). PATRICK MEENAN ( firing at the person), Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 19744 7901). Westmeath. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, alias GATELY, native of Creggs, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1893, in the barony of Farbill, parish ot Killucan, obtained the sum of six pounds sterling from Cornelius Hannan, Esq., j. r., by false pretences ; and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued :— Walks with a heavy long step, careworn appearance, brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, pale complexion, round tace, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, gray hair; was a commercial traveller and shop- keeper. Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Movashel and Maghera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs:— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses ; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. v Mullingar, 5th May, 1983. ( 2231 c— 12891^" Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 28th June, 1893, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— J AMES DUNNE, 2,428, about 19 years of age, 5 feet high, ordinary make, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long and straight nose, ordinary mouth, long visage; formerly belonged to 3, South Gloucester- street, Dublin ; parents dead; blue dots on arms and hands. The School Dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,428. His sister, Mrs. Glynn, resides at 45, Mary's- lane, Dublin. This boy's full period of detention will expire on 27th July next, after which date he need not be arrested. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with 10*. 3rd July, 1893. ( 564 H. O.) Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 7th June, 1893, absconded from the Glencree Reformatory School, at county Wicklow: RICHARD CORBALLY, 2,484, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 6 inches high, very stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval or round visage; formerly belonged to Firhouse, county Dublin; mother resides at Roundtown. The School Dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and corduroy jacket, cloth cap ( Scotch make), and strong nailed boots, No. 2,484. It appears that the boy got a change of clothes at Firhouse, and ' he is now dressed in a long dark ooat, dark trowsers, and old felt hat. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 8tl June, 18° 3. ( 560 h/ j.) Young Offender THOMAS PERRY, described i Hue- and- Cry, 30th May, not arrested. ( 543 H. C.) DUBLIN MetrOpoliTAn POLIce. « DMslra. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS LOVE, c. 20, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny — two cases— and previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 y ears' penal servitude :— 50 years of age, single, is a stonecutter, born in Drumcoolan, Enniskilkn, resided before conviction in Enniskillen where hi" S friends reside; dark brown hair turning gray, brown eyes, black eyebrows turning gray, large nose, smaH month, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet I If inches high ; right leg ulcerated at shin, bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 23rd May, 1893. He recently left his residence, 14, Bride- street, Dublin, without notifying to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he Should be dealt with under 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 8th June, 1893. ( 559 H. oj Particulars relative to convict MICHAEL M'GOLDRICK, c 21, convicted at Enniskillen, county Fermanagh, at Quarter Sessions, on 19th November, 1885, for larceny and previous conviction, and sentenced to tern years' penal servitude:— 60 years of age on conviction, married, is a dealer; born at Enniskillen ; resided before conviction at Enniskillen,' where his friends reside; dark brown hair, brown eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small moutn, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high; ruptured left side, wears a truss, cut- scar on bridge of nose and on upper lip. This man was released on licence from Maryboro Prison, 19th May, 1893, and stAted he was going Sligo. He was arrested on same dale at Athlone^ n \ THE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AND- CRY, 5. 1893, a charge of drunkenness, and discharged on condition of at once leaving the town. He has not since reported himself, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. p81st May, 1893. ( 557 H. C.) V l _ Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and' his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893, ( 555 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH M'DONNELL, who was convicted of rape, at the Mayo Assizes,- on 10th of July, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him en 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top- of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native of Claremorris, county Mayo. Warrant in the hands of Chief Inspector COOPER, Dublin Metro- politan Police. Detective Department, 9th May, 1893. ( 553 H. C.) Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on 89th ult., a horse, saddle, and bridle froin Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces :•— He ie £ 4 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair and complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent, Dublin Castle. ( 523 h. c.) ENGLISH POLIce Essex. Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billericay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a set of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :- Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. The above- described broke into a villa about 10.15 p. m. on the above date, in company with another man who is in custody, by inserting a knife between the sashes of the window, removing the snib, raising the lower sash, and entering thereby Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry at all likely places with the view to the apprehension of the above- described ( who can be identified), and if found, to wire the Chief Constable.
