Information to Inspector Matthews, Alton. 12.— Basingstoke ( County). — For non- pay- ment of penalties inflicted by magistrates— ALBERT COLE, a gipsy, age 50, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, eyes brown, " M. R. A. C.," cross- flags, shield, and " E." tattooed left arm, crucifix right forearm. Is supposed to be travelling with a circus ; well known in the southern counties. Warrant issued. HEREFORDSHIRE. 13.— Hereford ( County).— For stealing a cart and harness ( recovered).— WILLIAM CURTIS, age 28 to 30, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion, hair, small side whiskers, and moustache dirk, bridge of nose flat, turns up at point; dress, dark jacket and vest, cord trousers, black hard hat; the appearance of a groom. Is accompanied by his wife who wears a red dress. Absconded 12th inst.; is supposed to have gone to London. Warrant issued. Jervis, Ormskirk. 18.— Blackpool ( Borough). — For embezzling £ 29 16s. l^ d.— CHARLES JACKSON, age about 34, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., hair dark brown, mous- tache and eyes dark ; was last seen 7th inst., when lie was dressed in the uniform of the North Pier Company, dark blue suit, brass collar buttons, and naval cap, with cre3t of North Pier in front. Has been a Serjeant in a Scotch regiment. Warrant issued. H. S. tattooed left arm, anchor, heart, cross, W. W. M. W. right, cut mark across nose, swinging gait; dress, blue serge coat and vest, fu- tian trousers, strong lace boots. A labourer or sailor. 20.— Burnley ( Borough).— For obtaining, 16th ult., by false pretences — 2 ladies' 18- carat gold rings ( 1 half- hoop diamond, the other diamond and sapphire)— EDWARD STAINFORTH CATTLEY, age 23 or 24, height 5 ft. 1 or 2 in., stout build, complexion swarthy, hair and moustache dark brown, eye3 brown, walks erect; generally dressed in shooting suit; of gentlemanly appearance and good address. HERTFORDSHIRE. 14.— Hem el Hempstead. — For indecently assaulting a girl, age 14- ROBERT BAKER, a dealer, age 29, height about 5 ft. 6 in., rather stout build, complexion fresh, hair, moustache, and eyes dark ;_ addicted to drink, and fond of low company ; dresses as a low dealer. A native of Wigginton, Herts. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Frogley, Hcmel Hempstead. 15.— Ware ( County).— For obtaining money and board and lodging, by false pretences— A MAN, age about40, height 5ft. 8in., slight dark moustache and side whiskers, riog tattooed third finger right hand, crown and V. R. on back of right hand, right eye of peculiar appearance, scar under right side of mouth ; dress, black ribbed jacket, with breast pocket on left side, and two hip pockets, flaps braided, five braided buttons, hard black felt tat, railway porter's trousers, white collar, light tie, new patent leather boots. His modus operandi is to obtain board and lodgings on the representation that he is a railway signalman sent for duty at a station close by ; he borrows money on the pretence of paying for his watch, which he states is being mended, and that it is necessary for him to obtain it before going on duty. KENT. 16— Dover ( Borough).— For larceny— FOSTER TUPHOLME, age about 40, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion and hair dark, deformed nose, or has been broken, nervous manner, and walks with short quick steps; well educated, and of gentlemanly appearance; dress, black suit, short straight black coat, black hard felt hat, sometimes high silk hat. Freeman, Abergavenny. 22.— Pontypool ( County).— For stealing a silver half- hunter watch, No. 23963 or 23863; a navy- blue waterproof cloak; 1 grey- and- black dress- skirt; 1 grey jacket trimmed with braid; 1 black cashmere dress trimmed with silk; 1 pink flannel petticoat; 1 night- dress, embroidered front; 1 pair of kid button boots, size 4; 1 black umbrella, bone handle, knob on top; 1 pair black kid gloves, and a black straw bonnet trimmed with pink roses— ROSE LESTER, alias TALBOT, age 19, height about 5 ft., complexion fresh, hair brown, has been cut short, but has now grown a little and is curled in front; sometimes wears spectacles ; dress, black dress and bodice, light straw hat trimmed with flowers. MONTGOMERYSHIRE 23.— Welshpool ( County).— For stealing £ 1— JABEZ EDWARD JONES, age 22, height 5 ft. 2 in., complexion fresh, hair light brown; dreis, brown cloth jacket and vest, light cloth trousers, black hard felt hat. He is a good second cornet player, and will endeavour to enlist into a band; was last heard of in Shrewsbury. A labourer. Warrant issued. Information to Deputy Chief Constable Crowden, Wtlnhpool. NORTHUMBERLAND. 24 — Berwick- On- Tweed ( Borough). — For stealing, 26th May last, a diamond frame safety bicycle, ball head, " Dunlop, 1893," detachable tyres — ROBERT CLYDE, age 26, height 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, complexion sallow, hair and moustache brown, eyes ( rather large) light blue ; dress ( sup- posed), double- breasted j icket, groy stripe tweed trousers, black felt hat. OXFORDSHIRE. 25.— Banbury ( County). — For burglary, 9th inst., at Wardington — WILLIAM CASTLE, age about 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in , hair and heavy moustache light, long light eyebrows, high cheek- bones ; dress, dirty cord coat and trousers, brown cap with peak and ear- laps ; slovenly appearance. SOMERSETSHIRE. 26.— Frome ( County).— For stealing, 3rd inst., at Clandown, a brown plaid coat, mixed red, side and ticket pockets, the latter containing a coat bill, and a cap with ear flaps— A MAN, age about 46, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ( about three weeks' growth) dark, arms tattooed, anchor on right, round- shouldered and stoops; dress, black rib cloth coat, greasy grey trousers, black fur cap. Has been employed as driver of the engine at steam roundabouts, and was, about a month since, with Pruett's roundabouts. Information to Supt. Williams, Frome. 27.— Glastonbury ( County). — For failing to report — License Holder SAMUEL GEORGE PEARCE BUCKNOLE, Office No. 44672, age 29, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion dark, hair dark brown ( getting bald), eyes grey, small lump near right ear, scar over each eyebrow, outside right elbow, top of right thumb, on left kneo, and left thumb ; a butcher. Sentenced at Wells, 16th October, 1888, to 5 years penal servitude and remanet of former sentence for horse- stealing. Licensed 28tli April, 1893. Sentence expires 1st November, 1894. K O 425. STAFFORDSHIRE. 28. — Burslem ( County). — For stealing £ 13 5s. 5d. on 9th inst.— THOMAS HOLLING- WORTH, or HOWARTH, age 18 or 19, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion fair, hair light, eyes ( rather sunken) light blue, slightly bow- legged; dress, brown cloth coat, buttons behind, light blue vest with darker blue round spots thereon, white buttons, dark cloth trousers, much worn at seat and bottoms, light cloth peak cap, lace boots. A native of Stalybridge. Was engaged during the last 4 months with Wall's Phantoscope, and prior to that with Cornwell's Shooting Gallery. Supposed previously convicted. Warrant is3ued. SUFFOLK. £ 1 REWARD. 30— Bury St- Edmunds ( County).— For de- serting their wivej and children, on 26th August, 1891, and 26th March, 1892, respectively, leaving them chargeible to the Bury St. Edmunls Incor- poration— ALEX ANDER WILLIAM CUMMING, age 23, height about 5 ft. 3 in., complexion pale, hair and eyes browD, moustache light, deep scar about 11 in. Ion* above right eyebrow, hair probably worn to hide same; usually wore white trousers and peak cap. An engineer and iron fitter, late of Ber- mondsey, London, and formerly of No. 2, Risby- gate- Sreet, Bury St. Edmunds. ROBERT BALDWIN, age about 26, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion very pale, hair very light, no whiskers or board, eyes blue, small knot at back of head; dressed, when last seen, in light dust- coat, dark waistcoat, light trousers, black hard hat. A journeyman baker, late of 4, Hardwick- road, Bury St. Edmunds. He formerly worked in a coal mine in Yorkshire. The above reward will be paid in each case by the Bury St. Edmunds Incorporation, to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension of Cumming and Baldwin, Information to Supt. Has served in the 20th Hussars, Bedfordshire Regi- ment, and Grenadier Guards, and has been im- prisoned for fraudulent enlistment. Native of St. Clement, Hastings. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable Glenister, Hastings. 35.— Hove ( Town). — For stealing jewellery ( recovered), 10th ult.— ANNIE PAYNE, age 35, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in, complexion pale, blotched, hair ( wavy) dark; dress, double- broasted fawn- colour jacket, blue serge skirt, black straw hat, trimmed black lacc and violet flowers ; always wears a veil. Supposed native of Worcester.— A man known as " DICK, THE WELSHMAN," age about 35, height 5 ft. 4 ir , complexion dark, hair ( bald on top), moustache and side whiskers dark, mark on head, result of a blow with a stick; dress, dark or black jacket, dark brown tweed trousers, supposed grey cap. A blacksmith; supposed native of Tredegar. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pugb, Stourbridge. 42.— Kidderminster ( Borough).— For failiug to repott— License Holder JAMES HARRINGTON, alias MANN, Office No. 44153, age 62, height 5 ft. 8 in., complexion sallow, hair dark brown ( turning grey), eyes grey, sears on forehead, right eyebrow, no e, left forearm, below left knee, and back of shoulders, nosa broken, cheeks sunken, round- shouldered, pockmarked, l-' ght thumb has been broken, left out of joint, Y. E. R., heart and arrow right forearm. Senkncid at Worcester, 19th October, 1885, to 7 years penal servitude and 5 years police supervision for warehousebreaking. WORCESTERSHIRE. 38.— Bromsgrove ( County).— For obtaining a horse, 24th ult., by means of a fictitious cheque— THOMAS WILSON, a horse dealer ( supposed false), age about 30, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., com- plexion fair, hair ( inclined to curl) and moustache sandy ; dress, light plaid coat and vest, blue trousers, hard black hat; horsey appearance. Is accompanied by a man age about 24, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jeffrey, Bromsgrore. 39.— King's Heath ( County).- For burglary, 28th ult.— A MAN, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 6£ in., complexion fresh ( blotched), hair ( thin on top) light brown, slight light moustache, eyes grey, wart right of nose. Has the appearance of a drunkard ; dress, small brown check jacket, brown mixture trousers, old greasy brown billycock hat. Supposed a tin- plate worker. 40.— King's Heath ( County).— For stealing a horse ( recovered), 26th ult.— ROBERT SHAW, YORKSHIRE ( NORTH RIDING). 43.— Leyburn ( County).— For stealing 2 horses, 16th ult.— TWO MEN: 1st, age 25 to 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion dark, lost one or two front teeth ; dress, dark clothes, brown felt hat, all much worn, known as " BLACKIE." 2nd, age 20 to 25, height about 5 ft. 3 or 4 in., complexion dark, sunburnt, small brown moustache; dress, grey mixture suit, brown felt hat, lace boots, all much worn. The horses were sold at Bradford, the following day, and the men may now be differently dressed. Information to Supt. Silversides, Malton. 45.— Thornaby- on- Tees ( County).— For the defilement of a gill under the age of 16, 1st inst., at South Bank — WILLIAM IIIBBS, age 39, height 5 ft. 3 in., complexion swarthy, hair dark brown, moustache light brown, eyes brown, pockmarked; dress, dark brown small check cloth jacket, mole- skin vest and trouseis, patched at knees, dirty grey cap, red silk neckerchief, usually tied in sailor's knot, strong lace boots.
