All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated, by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. " All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension as. sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by tho name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unions they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *„• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to % rward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot bo rectified. ^ Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irisfc Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < kc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of JAMES CORRIGAN, native of Gortamoan, county Fermanagh, who stands charged with havigg, on the 22nd April, 1893, at Blacklion, in the barony of- Tullyhaw, parish of Killinagh, seriously assaulted one William Armstrong, by striking him with a stick on the head:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of age, light fair hair; wore a tweed cap, dark jacket, gray tweed knickerbockers, and long brown stockings; is a farmer's son. Warrant has been issued and is in hands of Sergeant at Blacklion. Swanlinbar, 27th April, 1893. ( 22204 c— 12654.) ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. Description of a MAN, name and native place Unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 6th March, 1893, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Kirkinriola, assaulted and attempted to stab with a knife Rose Gilmer, and threatened to murder her:— Very dary eyes, regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 jears of age, dark hair, no whiskers or beard, may nave a slight moustache; wore a black greasy cap, dark or black coat, dark trowsers and vest; trade cr occupation unknown; has the appearance of an engine fitter, mechanic, or sailor on tramp. Information sworn and warrant in hands of District Inspector, Ballymenm. Ballymona, 6th March, 1893. ( 21220 o.— 10717). PATRICK SCULLION, alias JORDAN ( firing at the person), described in Hue- and- Cry of 24th March, not arrested. ( 19619 c.— 7660.) Armagh, Particulars relative to convict HUGH DAILY, c 72, convicted at Armagh at the Assizes, on 14th July, 1886, for manslaughter, and sentenced to penal servitude for life, commuted to 10 years : 55 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer, born at Tullykevin, county Armagh, resided before conviction at Blackwater, county Armagh, where his friends reside; gray hair, gray eyes, gray eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval worn visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high ; cut- mark between left thumb and finger, nail of right thumb split, lost some teeth. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, 17th July, 1892, on licence. He left Armagh on 30th ult. L and has not sinco been heard of. In Ch invent of his arrest ho should be dealt with ""' ier 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 27th April, 1893. ( 551 H. C.) parish of Bunratty, abandoned a mfhe child, aged about 6 months, whereby the life of said child was endangered:— Verjsfreckled face; blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 33 years of age, red hair; wore an old red dress, old gray shawl, no hoots ; is a tramp. Warrant issued, and in hands of District Inspector at Sixmilebridge. Sixmilebridge, 18th April, 1893. ( 21925 c.— 12255.) MICHAEL KELLY ( carnal knowledge of a girl under 16 years), not arrested, Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1892. ( 18867 c—£ 194.) MICHAEL CLUNE ( house- breaking), Hue- and- Cry, 2nd Sept, not arrested. ( 16138 a— 1869.) Description of THOMAS DUIGNAN, native of Fatron, Ardlogher, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd January, 1893, in the barony of Loughtee Lower, parish of Tomregan, caused the death of Ellen M'Kiernan by blows and kicks:— Gray eyes, short thick nose, sallow com- plexion, tbin face, stout active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a reak cap, light coat, light tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killeshandra, 11th Jan. 1893, ( 20286 C.— 8878.) Description of WILLIAM HEWITT, Junior ( Brother's surname M'Meikle), native of Drum- connick, Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1892, in the barocy of Upper Loughtee, parish of Urney, stabbed one Moses Rourke with a penknife, and being bound by recognizance to appear at Cavan Petty Sessions on 19th Decem- ber, 1892, has absconded from his bail:— Prominent teeth, square shoulders, active appearance; dark eyes, slightly hooked nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a black hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Cavan, 20th Dec., 1892. ( 19816 c.— 8064.) Clare. Description of CHARLES O'HALLORAN, sup posed native of county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 29th April, 1893, in the barony of Tulla Upper, parish of Tomgraney, stolen from the dwelling- house of Catherine Murphy, Tomgraney: A gold cross, about 2 inches long ; a gold ring, set in ruby stones ; a heart - shaped medallion, and some white handkerchiefs, marked H. Hogan ; all value for about £ 5 :— Good- looking, handsome face, speaks with an English accent; long nose, fair complexion, round face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, rather fair hair; wore a light- coloured peak cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; smart address; carries a brown walking stick. It is believed he has recently returned from England ; looks like a clerk. Killaloe, 7th May, 1893. ( 22330 c.— 12911.) Down. Licensed Convict JOSEPH KELLY, or CONNOB described in issue of 24th March, not arrested. ( 526 H. C.) Dublin. Description of JOSEPH DOREY, native of Naul county Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 4th April, 1893, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Taney, escaped from Dundrum Criminal Lunatic Asylum, where he was confined during the pleasure of Her Majesty:— Lost some of his front teeth, broad stooped shoulders, steps short when walk- ing, and turns in his toes; high cheek bones, high forehead, shaves face except moustache and side whiskers, which it is likely he will get removed, blue sunken eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, light flaxen hair; wore a black morning coat, black trowsers and vest, all of same material, descrip- tion of hat not known; is a coachman. Dorey was indicted for the murder of his wife at Naul, but deemed to be of unsound mind, he was committed to this Asylum. Dundrum, 13th April, 1893. ( 21881 c— 12072), Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 12th April, 1893, in the barony ot Bunratty Lower, PATRICK LAWLESS ( attemptedrape), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19718 c.— 7860). Fermanagh. Information required concerning THOMAS MARTIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 21st December, 1892, in the barony of Magheraboy, parish of Inishmacsaint, ob- tained goods by false pretences from James Earls, Slavin, Belleek. It is supposed that he has committed other similar offences. His " modus operandi" is to get into correspondence with poultry and game dealers & c., and obtain large consignments of goods, for which he cannot pay, being an undischarged bankrupt. He is at present undergoing a term of imprisonment in England for a similar offence; is a commission agent; Information sworn and Warrant issued. Derrygonnelly, 8th Mar., 1893. Description of JOSEPH O'REILLY, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 20th March, 1892, in the borough qfc Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, embezzled the sum of £ 20 and upwards, the property of his employer, Mr. John Murphy s— Heavy dark brown moustache, long feet, respectable looking, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore^ tweed sack- coat, striped trowsers, tweed vest; is an assistant goods agent. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of ie Head Constable at William- street, Limerick. Limerick, 28th March, 1893. ( 2h596 c— 11493.) WILLlAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder), Hue- and- cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 c.— 86735. Londonderry. JAMES M'PEAKE ( serious assault), described in i ssue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19864 c.— 8141). Meath. Description of PATRICK TUITE, native of county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1893, in the barony of Lower Deece, parish of Knockmark, stolen from a dwelling, one ten pound and one five pound note ( numbers not known or bank from which issued), three sovereigns and ten shillings in silver:— Neglected appearance, keeps his eyes shut when speaking, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, red complexion, small face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 65 or 70 years of age, gray beard whiskers and moustache cut short, long gray hair; wore a corduroy jacket over brown drab coat, corduroy trowsers, novost; is a tramp labourer. Warrant issued. Dunshaughlin, 4th April, 1893. ( 21719c 11730). Tipperary. Description of WILLIAM DWYER ( mother's surname Hayes), native of Gortahomogue, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of May, 1893, in the barony of Kilnemanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted James Dwyer, of Gortahamogue, by striking him on the head with a spade, fracturing his skull, thereby placing his life in danger : May have cut marks on head and face; gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, sandy whiskers and moustache; wore a low soft black hat, gray frieze coat, and corduroy trowsers ; is a- farmer. Warrant issued for his arrest. Thurles, 27th May, 1893. ( 22698 c.— 13544.) Description of Gunner JAMES MORRISSEY, No. 95238, a deserter or absentee without leave from 3rd Sub- Depot, Co. So. D. R. As— 24$ years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, gray eyes; date and place of desertion or absenoe, 14th February, 1893, at Templemore; date and place of enlistment, 21st January, 1893, at Templemore; born in the parish of Saint Catherine's, Dublin; mole under right ear; is a groom; dressed in regimentals. Under 6 months' service. Templemore, 17th Feb, 1893. ( 535 H. C.) Description of MARY MOLONEY, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 28th January, 1893, at Ballyhane, in the barony of Kilnansanagh Upper, parish of Toem, stolen a purse bolonging to Alice Lloyd, containing one pound and ten shillings, also with obtaining goods by false pretences :— Prominent front teeth, slight space between them, lisps when speaking and generally laughs when spoken to ; dark ejes ; swarthy com- plexion s medium make ; 5 feet high ; about 35 years of age; black hair, curly in front; wore an old black dress, old black shawl, laced boots, and wore a neck- lace with beads; tramp and servant girl. Warrant in hands of Cappawhite Police. Cappawhite, lst Feb., 1893. ( 20652 c.— 9573.) Description of JOHN RYAN " PLUNKHAM" ( Mother's surname Ryan, " Plunger"), native of Curraghmore, who stands charged with having, on the 30th December, 1892, in the barony of Owney and Aria, parish of Kilmastulla, fired at the person of Martin Troy:— Has marks of old cuts on his head; is good looking; prominent gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, snufi coloured tweed coat, trowsers, and veBt; is a labourer. Warrant issued for his arrest. Newport, 81st Deoember, 1892. ( 20121 o— 8616.) WILLIAM BUCKLEY ( stabbing), described in issue of 7th April, not arrested. ( 19701 c— 7876). Tyrone; Description of JAMES COLLINS, alias BEATTY, supposed # to be a native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 15th December, 1892, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, unlawfully stolen £ 17, in single notes, and a small single- barrelled pistol from the house of one Daniel M'Goldrick ( small farmer), with whom he was a hired servant :- ® - Two upper front teeth black, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, soft white face, slight ljake, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 16 years of age, very black hair ; wore a two- peaked whitish cap, dark sack coat and old dark trowsers, patched on seat with corduroy; is a farm servant. Description of PATRICK MEENAN ( mother's surname M'Court), native of Aldrummond, who stands charged with having, on the 8th December, 1892, in the barony o? Strabane Upper, parish of Cappagh, unlawfully fired a gun at Andrew Wasson, a game- keeper to Sir William M'Mahon:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a black peak cap, dark coat, gray trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son and labourer. ( Warrant in the hands of A. S. Mnnn, Royal Irish Constabulary, Mountfield, for his arrest.; Newtownstewart, 10th December, 1892. ( 19744 c.— 7901.) Westmeath. Description of JAMES COFFEY, native of Knockeraville, county Westmeath, who stands charged with having, on the night of 19th or morning of 20th April, 1893, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dermon, parish of Dysart, stolen 3 sheep and 3 lambs :— Greatly bow- legged, result of being broken when training horses ; gray or blue eyes, regular nose rather sharp, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, between 26 and 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tight coat, tight fitting trowsers, black woollen cardigan jacket under his coat, heavy brass watch chain, will probably be found about horse training stables; is a horse trainer and groom. Warrant for his arrest has been issued and is in the hands of the District Inspector, Mullingar. Mullingar, 5th May, 1983. ( 2231 12891.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 19th March, ] 893, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— THOMAS PERRY, No. 2,441, about 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, ordinary moutb, oval or round visage, and rather sour- looking; formerly belonged to 30, Jervis- street, Dublin; mot her and brother reside at 57, Great Strand- street, Dublin; " T" and '- J. P." tattooed on right forearm. The School dress, all with Reformatory Siamp, consists of:— Moleskin trowsers and vest, cloth cap ( Scotch make), strong nailed boots, No. 2,441. This boy worked as a shoemaker for some time in Skerries, county Dublin. He will endeavour to leave the country and probably to enlist, if he cannot get work at the shoemaking. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 20th March, 1893. DUBLIN MBTBOPOLITAN FOLIOS. # Division, x Particulars relative to English Convict MICHAEL DOODY, No. 294, convicted at Malta, at a Court Martial, on 10th May, 1887, for an attempt to commit sodomy, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 23 years of age on conviction, is a soldier; dark brown hair, gray eyes, 5 feet 7 inches high; two scars on back of head, mark on top of nose, right side, scar on cheek and on first finger, also on knuckle of second finger and on buttock; wore all his beard, which may now be shaved off. This man was released on licence from Portsmouth Prison, 29th October, 1892. He left his residence, 36, Nicholas- street, Dublin, without reporting to police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 18th May, 1893. ( 555 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH M'DONNELL, who was convicted of rape, at the Mayo Assizes, on 10th of July, 1889, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and who is now wanted on Warrant, in consequence of the licence granted to him on 1st April, 1893, for the unexpired term of said sentence having been revoked:— He is 26 years old, 5 feet 6^ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose and mouth, pale complexion, oval visage, proportionate make; cut on forehead and on right side of top of head, mole and scar on chin, large scar on right wrist, flesh'- mark on left wrist; is a blacksmith, and a native of Claremorris, county Mayo. Warrant in the hands of Chief Inspector CoopER, Dublin Metro- politan Police. Detective Department, 9th May, 1893. ( 553 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict GEORGE CAMPBELL, otherwise SAMUEL ROBINSON, c 55, convicted at Downpatrick, county Down, at Assizes, on 13th March, 1886, for larteny and previous conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude^ and 851 days of a former sentence:— 55 years qf age, married, is a saddler, born in Larne, his friends Reside near Larne; brown hair turning gray, gray eyes, dark brown eyebrows, large hooked nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, broad visage, stotft make, 5 feet 5 inches high; cut- mark on ball of left thumb, lost nearly all front teeth. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 6th inst., and reported himself to the Dublin Metro- politan Police. He stated he would return and notify his residence, but he has not done so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict THOMAS BURKE, C 313, convicted at Limerick at County Quarter Sessions, on £ th April, 1889, for breaking into a shop and stealing, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, and 2 years' police supervision:— 53 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born in Dublin; resided before conviction in Limerick; dark brown hair, blue eyes, light brown eyebrows, large nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high; cuts on head, cross and dot on back of right wrist, varicose veins in right leg. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 4th January, 1893, and went to Cork. He left his residence, 2, Old George's- street, in that city, on 6th ult., without reporting to Royal Irish Constabulary, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his . arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. 13th March, 1893. ( 542 H. a.) Description of CHARLES FLUDGATE, who stands charged with stealing, on S9th nit., a horse, saddle, and bridle from Portobello Barracks, Dublin, the property of the Commander- in- Chief of Her Majesty's Forces j— He is 24 years old, 5 feet 4 inches high, medium make, dark hair aad complexion, shaved face except small dark moustache; when last seen was dressed in a brown jerry hat, a light colour check lounge suit, and black cloth top eoat; is an Army Reservist and a native of Dublin. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent, Dublin Castle. ( 523 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cheshire. THREE MEN charged with robbery of jewellery^ and described in issue of 18th April, not arrested. 1545 H. C.* SHE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AND- CRY, HAY 30, 1893e Cambridgeshire. W. J. AINSBURY ( assault), Hue- and- Cry, 18th April, not mtp^ A. ( 531 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH RAWLINGS, native of Billoricay, Essex, late Bethnal Green, London, wanted at Brentwood, Essex, for stealing a horse, cart, and a set of harness ( recovered), at South Weald, on the 17th March, 1893 :- Bald top of head, scar left cheek, scar left side of neck, right side large scar inside leg from fracture, red mole spine; 70 years of age, very active of his age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh com- plexion, stout build, gray hair, generally dyed very dark, blue bushy eyebrows; wore a round hard felt hat and dark clothes. He is now supposed to be travelling in Ireland with low horse dealers. War- rant issued. Information to Superintendent ALLEN, Brentwood, Essex. 14th April, 1893. ( 550 H. C.) Warwickshire. Description of A. E. ODBERT, Chemist's Assist- ant, who absconded from his employment on the 24th, stealing £ 10, the moneys of his master:— Age 23, height 6 feet 11 inches, pale complexion, thin face, blue eyes, hair dark brown, small dark moustache cut short to lip, little side whiskers, slight build ; walks erect having been in the Army, which he may again join; dressed in blue serge sac < y> at, dark trowsers, and vest with wide opening, wore a white muffler, but no overcoat, black bowler hat, and patent leather shoes; speaks with a strong Irish accent; has been in the serviceof Mr. Walsh, Chemist, 30, Westmoreland- street, Dublin, and Mr. Baker, 174, Victoria- street, London. Wanted for housebreaking, in Stirling Burgh, on the 17th instant:— A MAN about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches in height, fresh complexion, full round face, dark hair, dark moustache, otherwise shaved; stout made; dressed in a black cord coat, dark vest and trowsers, light muffler, and black felt hat. The above- described broke into a villa about 10.15 p. m. on the above date, in company with another man who is in custody, by inserting a knife between the sashes of the window, removing the snib, raising the lower sash, and entering thereby. Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry at all likely places with the view to the apprehension of the above- described ( who can be identified), and if found, to wire the Chief Constable. Description of three head of cattle, the property of William Colhoun, which were stolen from the lands of Lurgy, parish of Leek, barony of Raphoe, on the 12th day of May, 1893 :— 1. A roan ( red and white) heifer, 2 years old past, in calf, short, slightly turned horns, in fair condition ; value for about £ 7. 2. A white and red spotted heifer, 2 years old past, in calf, left horn turned a little outward, the other pointing straight to the front, poor condition; value for about £ 4 10s. 3.
