All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a oharge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant lias been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *„* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the oovers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Polioo Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ^ DUBLIN, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1892. Description of HENRY KENNEDY ( mother's surname Gribbon), native of Ardnaglass, who stands charged with having, on the nightof 22rd, or moroing of 23rd August, 1892, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion Grange, committed a rape on one Catherine Timmons:— Blue eyes, reg ularnose, fresh ruddy complexion, round face, stout mak?, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair ; wore a brown felt hat, gray tweed sack coat, gray trowsers, gray vest; is a farmer's sou; be is likely to try to escape to America. Informations have been sworn and a warrant issued tor his apprehension. Antrim, 31st August, 1892. 18039 c.— 4698. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 23rd August, 1892, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast :— JOSEPH FARR, 558, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stoat make, sun- burnt complexion, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, regular nose, large mouth, round visage j large ears; his parent) reside at 19, Letitia- street, Belfast. Tho school dress, all with Industrial School stamp, consists of;— Moleskin trowsers, jacket, and vest, blue Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 25th August, 1892. Armagh, Description of ISAAC MILLER, native of Russia, who stands charged with having, within the past six months, in the barony cf O'Neiland East, parish of Shankill, embezzled certain sums of money received by him for his employer:— Dark eyes, broad pro- minent nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about twenty years of age, dark hair; wore a low jerry hat. black jacket coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a pedlar, and has a certificate ; speaks English badly. Description of WILLIAM KENNEDY, native of 1, Prospect- street, city of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 1st and 2nd days of August, 1892, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, embezzled the sum of £ 2 10s, the property of his employer John M'Ilroy, 21, Lombard- street, Belfast: One front tooth in upper jaw slightly black, blue eyes regular nose, pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark serge coat, light tweed trowsers, and dark serge vest; is a clerk. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Clare, Description of MICHAEL CLUNE, native of Tullybrack, who stands charged with having, on the 4th June, 1892, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilrush, broken into the house of Bridget Walsh, at Ballykelt, for the purpose of committing a burglary:— Dark- gray eyes, ordinary nose, sallow complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, brown hair t wore a white soft hat, dark tweed sack coat, gray trowBers, dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK HEFFERNAN, native of Whitechurch, county Cork, who stands charged with having, en the 2nd August, 1892, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Garrycloyne, committed an indecent assault on Ellen Bradley, 14 years of age:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair, wears all his beard and moustache, which is light brown; wore a round hat, gray coat, corduroy trowse- s, and gray vest; is a labourer. Description of JOHN BLUNDELL, native of St. Wollas, Newport, Monmouth, Wales, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1892, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Ann's, Shandon, deserted from his regiment, Shropshire Light Infantry, taking with him the sum of £ 50, the property of Lieutenant Smith, of same regiment;— Gray eyes, red now, fresh completion, red face, and looks as if addicted to drink, medium make, 5 feet 5|: inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, light twaed trowsers ; is a lanca ser- geant, Shropshire Regiment; is a paintsr by trade Warrant in the hands of the District Inspector at Cork, North. B., who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1892, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Templebarry, forcibly entered the dwelling- housa of John Dwan, between 3 end 5 o'clock, P. M., and stolen therefrom two £ 5 notes and one £ 1 note, and an old pocket- book:— Gray eyes, regular noss, fresh com- pletion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark tweed suit, plaid pattern; is a labourer. Description of a WOMAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 17th of August, 1892, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Templemore, unlawfully abandoned her female infant, aged about fourteen days, so es to endanger its life:— Gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full fees,' medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 20 years of aga, platted dark hair ; wore a red dresn, new fawn coloured shawl, black sailor hat, trimmed with red ribbon, striped petticoat, and shoes; may give her name as Ryan. Description of PATRICK MURPHY ( mother's surname Moran, native of Birr, King's County), native of Ballycapple, Cloughjordan, who stands charged with having, on tho 17th March, 1892, at Bantis, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Ballygibbon, committed a rape on Ellen Guilfoyle, aged 75 years:— Round shoulders, shaves all his face except small side whiskers which are sandy, gray eyes, rather flat noee, fresh complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches bigh, about 32 years of age, brown hair; wore a slouched black hat, blue tweed coat, trowsers, and vest,; is a farmer's son; will likely endeavour to emigrate. ( 15732 c.— 1003/\ Description of JEREMIAH FINEGAN, alias WALTER FERGUSON, native of Stradone, county Cavan, who has been returned for trial on tho charge of having, on the night of 29th or morning of 30th April, 1892, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts of Urney, broke into tha Manse in connection with the 2nd Castlederg Presbyterian Church, and stolen therefrom 26 keys and a piece of marble:— Has a good address and appears to have got a good education; blue eyes, straight nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy hair turning gray j wore a brown tweed cap, old drab coat, dark tweed trowsors, and black vest; is a tramp. Description of JOSEPH SHANAGHAN, native of Corgrove, who stands charged with having, on tha 28th day of Auguit, 1892, in the barony of M> y- cashel, pariah of Newtown, unlawfally stolen the sum of £ 22 oat of a press in the house of Anthony Carton, of Garryduff, with whom be was living as a servant man:— Mirk of evil under one oar, wore all his beard, which is sandy and long, on chin; blue eyes, straight noso, fair complexion, regular feci, ordinary make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore a light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, partly worn. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged on suspicion, with having, on the 2Snd August, 1892, in the barony of Moycasbe), pari'h of Ardnurcher, unlawfully broken into the dwelling- hcu e of James Plunket, at Kilbeg, and stolen therefrom one suit of tweed clothes, and a pair of boots:— Regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, from 35 to 40 years of age; wore a light- coloured hat, round black coat, brown trowsers; is a tramp. Description of JOHN WILSON ( mother's surname not known, but resides at No. 8, South King- street, Dublin), native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 15th May, 189?, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcoole | Lj> eing con- cealod in Bromley Demesne, under circumstances denoting that he was there for the purpose of committing a felony, and unable to give a good account of himself, lodging in the open air, and without any visible means THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1892. of subsistence, and escaping from custody of police :— Blue or gray eyes, pale complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age; Tore an old dark hard hat, long dark coat, light „ rowsers. Hue- and- Cry, 23rd August, not arrested. ( 16050 c.— 1572). DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, G Division. Particulars relative to Convict MARGARET STEWART, convicted at Newry Quarter Sessions, county Down, on 29th October, 1887, for larceny after a previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude:— 48 years of age on conviction, single, is a Millworker, born at Mullabrack, county Armagh, resided at Mawbawn, county Armagh before conviction, her friends reside t- t 22, Lagan View- street. Belfast : — Brown and gray hair, hazel ejea, ligbt eye- brows, long nose, small month, sallow complexion, lene visage, slight male, 4 feet 10 inches high; first and second right fingers and first left finger eroded at first joint. This woman was released from Grangegorman Prison on licence, 27 June, 1892, and went to reside in Belfast. She left her late residence, Drumgaw, cructy Armagh, on Sth ultimo, without reporting to Police, and her preeett whereabouts is unknown. If arrested she should be proceeded against nndei 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112 sec. 5, es amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. let September, 1892. ( 496 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS COMBER c. 234, convicted at county Galway Spring Assizes, on 12th March, 1888, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 yeers penal servitude t— 19 years on conviction, single, s a labourer; born in Galway, where he re- sided le'cre conviction and where his fiiends now reside :— Black hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, medium rose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inches; cut merk top of head, several faded tattoo marks on left forearm, feded cross back of left hand, burn mark on right knee. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 2' st April, 1892, rn licence, and went to reside at Galway. Description of WILLIAM MULLEN, no fixed residence, who stands charged with having stolen, on the 11th August, 1892, a bay mare, value XI1, from Chester- road, Ranelegh, county Dublin, the property of Mr. Alexander Field, of said place:— 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium tuild, dark hair cut short, no beard, whiskerc, or moustache, fair complexion, pearl on right eye; wore a dark tweed suit, coat jacket make, strong laced boots. Has relatives residing in Drogheda; was last seen on 12th August, 1892, in the neighbourhood of Rath- farnhsm, county dublin, having the mare in his p « session. Particulars relative to convict THOMAS GERAGHTY, c £ 69, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, county " Dublin, on 2nd October, 1888, for uttering bare coin, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 37 years of tge on conviction, read and write, is a Roman Catholic, married, is a labourer, prison trade oaknm picking and laundry, born in Cuffe- st,, Dublin ; resided before convictisn in Dublin, where his friends reside; brown hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, email nose ard month, fresh ccmplexior, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; lost one front tooth lower; cut- mark top of head; T. C. tattooed cn light firearm; lesrt on left foreirro. This convict was released cn licence from Monntjoy Prison on 30th Jnne, 1892, and went to reside at 174, Church- street, Dublin. He left his residence without notifjing the fact to the police. His present wbereabonts are unknown. Particulars relative to convict PETER POR- TEOUS, convicted at Quarter Sessions for city of Londonderry, county Londonderry, on 23rd October, 1888, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years.:— 61 years of age on conviction, read and write, belongs to the Irish Church, married, is a dealer, prison trade oakum picking and tailoring; born in Dublin; resided before conviction at Londonderry ; his friends reside at Salford, Manchester ; gray hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inches high ; cut- mark on poll, right side. This man was lelessed on licence from Maryboro' Prison on 22nd Jnly, 1892. He left his residence, 5, Sackville- place, Dublin, without notifying the fact to the police. His present wlereabouts are unknown. If arrested he should be proceeded against under Act 34 and 35 Vic., chap. 112, sec. 5, and Act 54 and 55 Vic., chap. 69, sec. 4. Silver dcuble- eased Geneva lever watch, chro- nometer balance, push- spring gone, No. 146,698, a steel curb chain attached. 2. A patent silver lever watch, nearly now, maker G. M'Cullagh, Thurles, No. 63,522. 3. Gold spade- guinea of reign George III., data 1787, with a small hole in it. 4. Michael Monaghan, Philip O'Reilly, and one of Mr. Monaghan's children for £ 50; two grants of administration of the property of the late Philip O'Reilly, of Drnmeel, taken out by Mary S. Monaghan, ono of them in the Cavan Registry, the other grant relative to shares in A. Guinncss's and Co.; an old pocket- book, with J. P. band, containing letters and various bills and papers referring to Mr. Monaghan's affairs; a certificate, Government 2J Consolidated Stock for £ 400, another for £ 300, both dated 15th Jnne, 1892; cash ono £ 5 nets, 12 single notes, and about £ 10 in gold and silver; number of notes not known.
