THE Hi. Police Gazette, OR HUE- AND- CRY. Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. RBGTJLATIOHTS. All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessarv to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of tl e undernamed young offender, who, on the 23rd August, 1892, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast :— JOSEPH FARR, 558, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout make, sun- burnt complexion, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, regular nose, large mouth, round visage; large ears; his parents reside at 19, Letitia- street, Belfast. The echool dress, all with Industrial School stamp, consists oiMoleskin trowsers, jacket, and vest, blue Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 25th August, 1892. Description of ISAAC MILLER, native ef Russia, who stands charged with having, within the past six months, in the barony cf O'Neiland East, parish of Shankill, embezzled certain sums of money received by him for bis employer:— Dark eves, broad pro- minent nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about twenty years of age, dark bair; wore a low jerry hat, black jacket coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a pedlar, and has a certificate ; speaks English badly. Belfast, Description of WILLIAM KENNEDY, native of 1, Prospect- street, city of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 1st and 2nd days of August, 1893, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, embezzled the sum of £ 2 10*,, the property oi his employer John M'Ilroy, 21, Lombard- street, Belfast:— One iront tooth in upper jaw slightly black, blue eyes regular r oss, pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a dark serge coatj light tweed troweers, and d » rk serge vest; is a clerk. : Warrant in hands of the Police. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the tame time, and at tbe place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, • quare shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when ipeaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Description of MICHAEL CLUNE, native of Tullybrack, who stands charged with having, on the 4th June, 1892, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilrush, broken into the house of Bridget Walsh, at Ballykelt, for the purpose of committing a burglary:— Dark- gray eyes, ordinary nose, sallow complexion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 28 years of age, brown hair: wore a white soft hat, dark tweed sack coat, gray trowsers, dark tweed vest; is & labourer. Description of PATRICK HEFFERNAN, native of Whitechurch, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd August, 1892, in the barony of East Musketry, parish ot ( jarrycloyne, committed en indecent assault on Ellen Bradley, 14 years of age:— Uray or blue eje3, regular nose, fair complexion, round late, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair, weirs all his beard and moustache, which is light brown; wore a round hat, gray coat, corduroy trowsers, and gray vest; is a labourer. Description of JOHN BLUNDELL, native of St. Wollas, Newport, Monmouth, Wales, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1892, in the barony of Cork, parish of St. Ann's, Shandon, deserted from his regiment, Shropshire Light Infantry, takiog with him the sum of £ 50, the property of Lieutenant Smith, of same regiment i— Gray eyes, red nose, fresh complexion, red face, and looks as if addicted to drink, medium make, 5 feet 6j inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, light tweed trowsers ; is a lance ser- geant, Shropshire Regiment; is a painter by trade. R., who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1892, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Templeharry, forcibly entered the dwelling- houss of John Dwan, between 3 and 5 o'clock, P. Description of JOHN WILSON ( mother's surname not known, but resides at No. 8, South King- street, Dublin) native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 15th May, 1892, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcoole, being con- cealed in Bromley Demesne, under circumstances denoting that he was there for the purpose of committing a felony, and unable to give a good account of himself lodging in the open air, and without any visible means of subsistence, and escaping from custody of police :— Blue or gray eyes, pale complexion, regular faoe, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age; wore an old dark hard bat, long dark coat, light trowsers. Speaks with a Scotch accent; is known to the police in counties of Dublin, Wicklow, and Wex- ford ; is a tramp. Warrant issued. Bray, 1st June, 1892. ( 16010 c.— 1482.) Description of WILLIAM MULLEN, no fixed residence, who stands charged with having stolen, on the 11th August, 1892, a bay mare, value £ 11, from Chester- road, Ranelagh, county Dublin, the property of Mr. Alexander Field, of said place:— 20 years old, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, dark hair cut short, no beard, whiskers, or moustache fair complexion, pearl on right eye; wore a dark tweed suit, coat jacket make, strong laced boots. Has relatives residing in Drogheda; was last seen on 12th August, 1892, in the neighbourhood of Rath- farnham, county Dublin, having the mare in his poesession. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent. , Dublin, 17th August, 1892. ( 193 H. C ) Particulars relative to convict THOMAS GERAGHTY, c 269, con vie tad at Dublin City Sessions, county Du lin, on 2nd October, 1888, for littering base coin, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 37 years of age on conviction, read and write is a Roman Catholic, married, is a labourer, prison trade oakum picking and laundry, born in Cuffe- st., Dublin ; resided before conviction in Dublin, where his friends reside; brown hair, gray eyeB, brown eyebrows, small nose and moutb, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; lost one front tooth lower; cut- mark top of he< td; T. C tattooed on right forearm; heart on left forearm. This convict was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison on 30th Jnne, 1892, and went ts reside at 174, Church- street, Dublin. He left his residence without notifying the fact to the police. His present whereabouts are unknown. If arrested he should be proceeded against under f 4 and 35 Vic, cap 112. sec. 5, as amended by Penal Servitude Act, 1891. General Prisons Board, Dublin Castle, 18th August, 1892. ( 491 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict PETER POR- TEOUS, convicted at Quarter Sessions for city of Londonderry, county Londonderry, on 23rd October, 18b8, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years:— 61 years of age on conviction, read and write, belongs to the Irish Church, married, is a dealer, prison trade oakum picking aDd tailoring; born in Dublin; resided before conviction at Londonderry ; his friends reside at Salford, Manchester ; gray hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval vie age, proportionate make, 5 feet ££ inches high ; cut- mark on poll, right side. This man was leleased on licence from Maryboro' Prison on 22nd July, 1892. He left his residence, 5, Sackville- place, Dublin, without notifying the fact to the police. His present whereabouts are unknown. If arrested he should be proceeded against under Act 34 and 35 Vic., chap. 112, sec. 5, and Act 54 and 55 Vic., cbap. 69, sec. 4. Description of ft MAN, name unknown, fcund dead in a barn, on tbe f » rm premises of John Thomas Mower, Snitterton Hall Farm, South Darley, near M attock, on the 12th August instant:— He is supposed to be an Irishman, abont 45 years ot age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, black bushy whiskers and moustache; wore a brown check cloth coat, black stripsd c'oth vest, cotton cord trowsers, very shabby, strong luce- up boots, with heel plates, soles nailed, blue wool shut, yellow and red handker chief round neck, light cloth cap, with two peaks and ear- tips, and gray worsted stockings, much worn ; had in his possession in coppers. At an inquest held on the 13th instant, a verdict of died from natural causes was returned by the jury. Worksworth, 17 th August, 1892. ( 491 H. C.) Essex. Stolen on Wednesday, Srd August, from the Two Brewers' Inn, Springfield, the property of Jonathan A. Smee, the landlord:— A strong bay. horse cob, about 14 hands, and 9 years old, black lege, big feet, scar inside near hock, hairy legs, white streak down face, short mane and tail, tie cob is a little over behind; value £ 12 or £ 14. Dog cart, light bnild, yellow wheels, black body, picked out red, blue cloth cushions, name of Tamer on the caps of the wheels, the springs are very narrow but strong. Harness is brass mounted, excepting hames, which are plated, the traces have chains at ends. By a man about 50 years of age, about / Tfeet 8 or 9 inches high, blotchey face, gray hair cut short, very long features; dressed in large light plaid suit, hard black felt hat; has a hole cut in one of his shoes. His name is believed to be Lorkin, he beloogs to London ; usjd to travel hawking cheap cloth, he now hawks imitation oil paintings: and had been staying a few days at the Two Brewers. He suffers from fravel. upposed to hold a pedlar's certificate. Please causa strict inquiry. Information to Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. 4th August, 1892. ( 489 H. C.) Wanted, on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of £ 25:— JAMES GILMOUR, 16 years of age, abont 5 feet 4 inches high, well made, dark hair, fresh complexion; good- looking; dressed in a blue serge jacket suit, Lorne shces, and light tweed cap ; resided with his mother at No. 212, Paisly- road, of this city. The accused was a message boy. in the employment of James Gemmell and Co., Tea Merchants, Maderia- court, Glasgow, and on 26th instant received the money to pay duty on tea, whicb he failed to do, but absconded. Has been at sea for some time, and will probably endeavour to emigrate. Please cause diligent search and inquiry to be made for the accased at hotels, shipping offices, and other likely places, and if found arrest, and wire the Chief Constable here, when he will be sent for. Silver double- cased Geneva lever watch, ohro- nometer balance, push- spring gone, No. 146,698, a steel curb chain attached. 2. A patent silver lever watch, nearly new, maker G. Michael Monaghan, Philip O'Reilly, aud one of Mr. Monaghan's children for £ 50 ; two grants of administration of the property of the late Philip O'Reilly, of Drumeel, taken out by Mar/ S. Mona ban, one of them in the Cavan Registry, the other gra- it relative to shares in A. Guinness's and Co.; an old pocket- biok, with J.
