Description ot a man, who states his name is SIMON CONNOLLY (' mother's surname Wholly), native of Gort, who stands charged with ha ring, in the month of December, 1891, in the barony of Iveragh, parish of Glenncgh, stolen a eoat from one John M'Carthy:— Tattooed cross ( partly erased) on inner side of left forearm, looks as if it had been an anchor; band on left wrist, ring on mi Idle finger of left hand, and marks of burns or sores v n left hand, ears same what prominent; blue eyes, regular note, sallow complexion; long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, had a fair moustache, whish he has since shaved off; sometimes wore a cap, at others a hat tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, which he has repbatedly. changed; speaks Irikh and English ; s'atfes he is a labourer, has worked as a tailor. Description of MARY KATE LYONS, native of Graigne, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of April, 1892, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Shinrone, obtained several small earns of money by false pretences while dressed as a nun, and falsely representing herself as a Sister of Charity: Wants some front teeth in upper and lower jaw, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full fat face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 50 years of age, gray hair ; dressed like a nun. This woman has been returned for trial at Birr Quarter Sessions to be held on 24th May, 1892, and may have committed crime elsewhere. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th day of April, 1892, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a watch and £ i from Joseph Lewis of Parsonstown:— Fair complexion, fair face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair- hair; wore a pepper- and- salt colour tyeed- cap with ear flaps, tweed coat, trowsers. and vest} is a tramp; looks like a discharged soldier; will likely enlist. Parsonstown, 11th April, 1892. ( 14995 c.— 99676.) Particulars of CHARLES ROUND, of Lord- street, Liverpool, who was convicted on 1st March, of having, on 20th October, 1891, obtained, by false pretences, a sum of money from Edward Hurst, pro- vision dealer, Parsonstown, snd sentenced to 18 month s* imprisonment, as it is believed be bas also defrauded numbers of traders throughout the country, it is requested that the Police will cause the necessary inquiries to be made amongst small dealers in earthen- ware and others. He represented himself to be a commission agent for various pottery firms in England, and also traded as the " Staffordshire Earthenware and Hardware Company," a firm which exists in name only, and on receipt of money fails to forward the goods. In some instances where the orders were for small amounts, he forwarded tbe goods for the purpose, presumably, of getting larger orders. Description of PATRICK SMITH, native of Killeen, who stands charged with having, on the 19th April, 1892, in the barony of Granard, parish of Granard, dangerously assaulted Robert M'Carty, whereby one of his legs was broken:— Walks erect, wears all his beard which is dark brown; prom inent wild eyes, small cocked nose, dark complexion, oval face, alight make, 5 feet 6 inches bigb, about 26 years of sge, dark brown hair; dark brown tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark brown vest; is a farm servant. Description of ROBERT COPELAND, native of Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 4th March, 1892, in tbe barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, wilfully illtreated, neglected, or caused or procured tbe illtreatment of Agnes Copeland, a child under tbe age of 16 years, in his custody:— Slightly bow- legged, walks erect, delicate appearancs, small fair side wbiskers; gray or blae eyes, slightly cocked nose, pale compleiicn, regular face, slight male, 5 feet 6 inches bigb, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black coat, light trowsers, dark vest; is a guttapercha shoemaker or jobber. Description of THOMAS NEVIN, native of Philipstown, who stands charged, on the 11th April, 1692, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Mosstown, with bting a dangerous lunatic. Nevin left bis bome on lltb April, 1* 92 :— Wore all his beard, which is dark end clipped short, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout n ake, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a round felt bat, brown tweed sack cost, dark tweed trowseis t is a farmer. Description of JOSEPH CONNELL, native of Duleek, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of April, 1892, in the barony of Skreen, parish of Danestown, absconded, taking with him the sum of three pounds in Bank of Ireland notes ( numbers unknown), the money of his master, Patrick Donnelly:— Dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair, face all shaved except short dark moustache'; wore an old dark hat, gray tweed coat, and corduroy trowsers; is a labourer Warrant in hands of D. Description of PATRICK REARDON, and JAMES REARDON, natives of Gurteendevane, who stand charged with having, on the 16th March, 1892, at Ballyhane, in tbe barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted George Reardon, by striking him on tbe bead with stones, fracturing his skull and placing his life in danger:— 1. Very good looking, never shaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 11 incles bigb, about 22 or 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a bright tweed cap, dark seree coat, bright tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tailor. 2. Very gocd looking, never shaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a bright twead cap, bright tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farm labourer; is brother to No. 1. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on tbe 12th Marcb, 1892, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Clonbeg, unlawfully entered the dwelling- house of Michael Halloran, Ballycrana, and stolen therefrom » coat, razor, and a scarf, aH value for £ 1 7s. 6d., and 4/. in cash :— Wild looking, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, about 30 years of age; wore a cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; bad tbe appearance of an Army Reserve man. Particulars relative to convict JAMES M'DON- NELL c 84, convicted at Dublin City Commission, on 28th October, 1886, for housebreaking and larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 35 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer, born at Dublin, where he resided before conviction, and where bis friends reside; dark bair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, round vissge, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high; cut on top of head, ruptured left side. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, 29th February, 1892, and emigrated. He recently returned, but up to the present has not re- ported himself to the Police, and his whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 28 April, 1892. ( 471 h. C.) Particulars relative to Convict JOHN JAMES MORIARTY, c 75, convicted at the Dublin Com- mission Court, on 10th August, 1886, for embezzle- ment, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is a bank clerk, born at Dublin, resided at Dublin before conviction, where his friends reside:— Brown hair, blue eye3, brown eyebrows, regular nose, small mouth, fair com- plexion, round vissge, stout make, 5 feet 9^ inches high; burn- mark between right thumb and finger, lost an upper front tooth. This man was released on licence from Mount- oy Prison, 9th November, 1891, and went to reside at 23, Upper Temple- street, Dublin. He recently left bis residence without notifying same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In ths event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 85 Vic., eap. 112. 14th March, 1892. ( 464 H. C.) Wanted, under a Magistrate's Warrant, on a charge of theft of a watch ( recovered) in the burgh of Buckie, Banff.- hire, between 31st December, 1891, and 10th Feb., 1892, MATTHEW SEATON HARDY:— A music teacher, native of Skene, Aberdeenshire about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark bushy curly hair, small dark whiskers and moustache, no beard, medium build, wants a front tooth in upper jaw, one or more of the fingers of the left hand contracted ; dressed in dark single- breasted overcoat, pray tweed trowsers, a hard felt hat, wore a pair oi brown kid gloves, and carried a black- thorn cane. Hardy's father is employed at Garlogie Spinning Mill, Skene, and resides in one of the cottages there, and accused at one time conducted the psalmody in the parish church there. He is married, but, in con- sequence of bis drunken habits, his wife is living apart from him with her father, at Garmouth- on- Spey. He was in Lossiemouth on the 23rd January last, and in Nairn on 25th February, going in the direction of Auldearn, but has not been heard of since. It is possible that this may be the person described in tbe Police information from Ross- shire, dated 26th March last, and in the " Hue- and- Cry " of 1st inst. for theft of a Watch in Stirling. Accused rep'esents himself as a piano tuner, and has been known to state that he was representing the firms of " Coflard & Collard, of London," and " Meisrs. Logan, Inverness although it is not believed that he is possessed of the knowledge necessary to a piano tuner. Police Officers are requested to make search and inquiry for this person, and if fcucd, arrest, detain, and wire the Subscriber, when he will be sent for. DAVID HAIG, Chief Constable of Banffshire. He will probably endeavour to leave tbe country. Absconded yesterday.
