Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. 0* All Notice! intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed te the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dawn Oastle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not neceasary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notice* respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as ar. of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, wd by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this feature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *,' Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia information the mistake cannot lie rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < kc., and of any circumstanoee rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, witMn the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTI— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warramt. Belfast. 15th April, 1891. Carlow. Description of the undernamed who, on the 13th March, 1892, the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— JOHN COCHRANE, 16 years of age, dark hair, brown eyes, dark eyebrows, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 6 inches high, is a shoemaker, born at Dungannon, formerly belonged to Dutigancon, parents reside at Bo? d- street, Belfast; blue mark on back of right hand; burn- mark below left ear on neck, two holes on left side chest ( tube attached). The school dress consists of:— Dark gray tweed jacket, brown corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, Glengarry cap, blue and white stripe shirt, red and black check tie. Galway Description of DENIS HESSIAN, native of Clare galway, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 27th or morning of the 28th February, 1892, in tbe barony of Galway, parish of Saint Nicholas, stolen from the Naval Reserve Battery at Fair Hill 22 rifles and 17 cutlasses:—- Flat mouth, and supposed to have a pimple on the side of his nose, dark ejes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long thin fice medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 jeais of age, brown hair; wore a tweed trowsers and white flannel sleeved under- vest; io a herd. Description of a man, who states his name is SIMON CONNOLLY ( mother's surname Wholly), native of Gort, who stands charged with having, in the month of December, 1891, in the barony of Iveragh, parish of Glenbeigh, stolen a coat from one John M'Carthy:— Tattooed cross ( partly erased) on inner side of left forearm, looks as if it had been an anchor; band on left wrist, ring on middle finger of left hand, and marks of burns or sores on left hand, ears somewhat prominent; blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion; ong face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, light brown hair, had a fair moustache, which he has since shaved off; sometimes wore a cap, at others a hat. tweed coat, trowsers and vest, which he has repeatedly changed; speaks Irish and English ; states he is a labourer, has worked as a tailor. He has been arrested, and is suspected of having com- mitted crime elsewhere. Dingle, 23rd February, 1892. ( 14174 c.— 98112.) Description of GEORGE RIPPINGALE, native of Tralee, who stands charged with having, on several dates within last three months, in the barony of Trughanacmy, parish of Tralee, embezzled various sums of money, amounting in all to £ 3 10*. 8d., the property of the Tralee Aerated Water Company:— Leans forward when walking, springs slightly on toes, old cut- mark near one eye, dimple on chin; gray eyes, short nose, fresh complexion, round fat boyish face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair, uo whiskers, beard, or moustache ; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a clerk. Description of WILLIAM DORAN, native of Ballyfoyle, who stands charged with havine, on the 26th day of March, 18° 2, in the barmy of Municipal Borough, parish of St. Canices, city of Kilkenny, em- bezzled the sum of 13*., tbe property of Messrs. John and Edmond Smithwick, his employers:— Stoops his head forward, and speaks with a drawli • g accent; gray or blue tender eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 26 years of age; dark brown hair, wore a black felt hat, Irish tweed dark brown coat, trowsers, and vest; is a vanman. Woman, supposed to be ANASTASIA M'DON- NELL ( forging cheque), Hue- and- Cry, 12th January, 1892, not arrested. ( 12793 c— 95541.) king's. Particulars of CHARLES ROUND, of Lord- street, Liverpool, who was convicted on 1st March, of having, on 20th October, 1891, obtained, by false pretences, a sum of money from Edward Hurst, pro- vision dealer, Parsonstown, and sentenced to 18 montls' imprisonment, as it is believed he has also defrauded numbers of traders throughout the country, it is requested that the Police will cause the necessary inquiries to be made amongst small dealers in earthen- ware and others. He represented himself to be a commission a< ent for various pottery firms in England, and also traded as the " Staffordshire Earthenware and Hardware Company," a firm which exists in name only, and on receipt of money fails to forward the goods. In some instances where the orders were for small amounts, he forwarded the goods for the purpose, presumably, of getting larger orders. Description of WILLIAM FOLEY, native of Kilmessan, who stands charged with having, during Kit four years, in the barony of Ratoatb, parish of toath, embezzled various sums of money, amounting to £ 18, received by him for his master, Laurence Canning:— Brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a round black hat, black sack coat, brown striped trowsers, brown vest; smart appearance; is a driver of a bread van. Description of G. B. MYERS alias W. BARON, native of London, and A MAN unknown, supposed native of London, who stand charged with having, on the 5th February, 1892, in the barony of Maryborough East, parish of Borris, obtained by fslse pretences a sum of £ 4 1 *. from Mr. R. J. Henderson, provision dealer, Maryborough, representing themselves as sell- ing Stramonium Cigarettes, and appointing agents for the firm, B. Myers, Stramonium Cigarette Manufac- turers, 3A, Shandy street, Mile End- road, London, S., which only exists in name. The London Police have received several complaints. They are travelling from town to town, and have committed several frauds. The cigarettes are of no value:— 1. Long hands and fingers, full mouth, sandy moustache, speaks with an English accent; regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, about 6 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy or fair hair; wore a hard low bat, Melton top coat with velvet collar, and light trowsers; represents himself as a traveller. 2. Jewish appearance, slight dark moustache, dark brown eyes, regular cose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, about 6 feet S inches high, about 30 years of age, dark bair; wore a dark coat trowsers, and vest; represents himself as a traveller. Those men take orders, deliver goods, appoint agents at gen- erally 10#. 6d. per month, undertaking to take back goods unsold, and on these grounds get orders and receive money. Description of PATRICK REARDON, and JAMES REARDON, natives of Gurteendevane, who stand charged with having, on the 16th March, 1892, at Bailyhane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted George Reardon, by striking him on the head with stone?, fracturing his skull and placing his life in danger:— 1. Very good looking, never Bhaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a bright tweed cap, dark serge coat, bright tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tailor. 2. Very gocd looking, never shaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a bright twead cap, bright tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farm labourer; is brother to No. 1. Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on the 12th March, 1892, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Clonbeg, unlawfully entered the dwelling- house of Michael Halloran, Ballycrana, and stolen therefrom a coat, razor, and a scarf, all valua for £ 1 7s. 6d., and 4s. in cash :— Wild looking, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fest 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 yetrs of age; wore a cap, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; bad the appearance of an Army Reserve man. Warrant in hands of the Sergeant at Kilross. Tipperary, 17th March, 1892. ( 14548 98814.) Description of THOMAS KIELLY, native of Cutteen, who stands charged with having, on the 7th March, 1892, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Solohedheg, unlawfully assaulted one Morgan Ryan, at Newtown, thereby placing his life in danger;— Brown eyes, regular nase, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 27 or 28 j ears of age, brown hair tinged with gray; were a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN BuTLER, native of Bally- philip, who stands charged with having, on the 27th December, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Solohead, seriously assaulted Margaret Glasheen :— Quick manner of speaking; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 47 years of a< e, dark hair, turning gray; wore a dark coat, tveei trowsers and vest. Description of HUGH KELLY, native of Fallagh, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the night of 2nd February, 1892. in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Cappagh, attempted to rape Mary Donnelly, of Ballinamullen :— Dark eyes, regular no. e, dark sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a black cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers. and dark vest; is a small broken- down farmer and road contractor. THOMAS CASHEL ( stealing postal order), Hue- and- Cry, 16th February, 1892 not arrested. ( 12255 c.— 94555.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. 6 Division. Particulars relative to Convict OWEN KEATING, o 144, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 28th March, 1887, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 34 years of age on con- viction, married, is a tailor, born at Dublin, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Kil- kenny :— Dark brown bair turning gray, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, medium nose, small month, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches tiig <; cut- mark on upper lip and at corner of right eye, two cut- marks oa right wrist. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, on 4th March, 1891, and went to reside at Kilkenny. He left Londonderry ( where he had been serving in the Militia) on 2nd uito. for Belfast, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with> under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 14th March, 1892. ( 464 H. C,) Particulars relative to Convict JOHN JAMES MORIARTY, c 75, convicted at the Dublin Com mission Court, on 10th August, 1886, for embezzle- ment, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is a bank clerk, born at Dublin, resided at Dublin before conviotion, where his friands reside:— Brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, small moutb, fair com- plexion, round visage, stent mate, 5 feet 9- J inches high; burn- mark between ri* ht thumb ana finger, lo3t an upper front tooth. This man was released on licence from Mount- oy Prison, 9th November, 1891, and want to reside at 23, Upper Tempi- street, Dublin. He recently left his residence without notifying same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 14th March, 1892. ( 464 H. C.) Description of JOHN SMITH, alias JOHN BRADY, alias HENRY BRADY, alias EDWARD LYNCH, who is charged with stealing an overcoat ( recovered) at Burton- on- Trent, and committed to Stafford Quarter Sessions:— No fixed place of residence, is a joiner, 70 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, light blue eyes, medium bt&), scar on top of forehead, fourth left finger contracts!; native of Balleyduff, county Cavan, Ireland; unmarried Previous convictions;— As Henry Brady.— Salford Quarter Sessions, April, 1871; office breaking and stealing tools; 9 months' THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AHD- CRY, APRIL 5, 1 8 9 2. hard labour. Mary- borough, Queen's County Assizes, 9th July, 1883; felony; 5 years' penal servitude. It is supposed that other recent convictions are recorded against this man, and that he is wanted for offences elsewhere. Information to Captain the Honorable G. A. ANSON, Chief Constable. Stafford, Mareh 10th, 1892. ( 461 H. C.) Yorkshire. Wanted in Bradford, charged with stealing a large number of ladies' gold and silver watches during the night rf the 17th March, 1892 :_ WILLIAM MANSELL, alias MICKEY, an Irishman, aad a native of Dublin, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, light brown hair, clean shaved, hollow cheeks, thuffling gait, up in right shoulder, head incline 1 t > or e side. Dressed in blue serge suit, black billycock hat, had in his possession the stolen propertv and two mackintoshes, one dark blue, the other li^ ht brown, the light brown has " Cox and Company, Newcastle," on hanger. This man has been for the last five months at the Salvation Army Shelter in this borough, and wss formerly at The Ark, Southwick- street, London, S. E., where he is well known to " Captain Robinson" and other army officers. Silversmiths, Pawnbrokers, Clothes Dealers, and others, are requested to detain sny person offering the above propei ty lor sale or pledge: am if sold or pledged, to give information to Mr. WITHERS, Chief Constable, Police Office, Bradford. 18th March, 1892. Wanted on Warrant, charged with larceny ( as bailee) of twelve Irish heifers, on the 1st of February last, the property of Thomas Patton, of Ballybofey, county Donegal, Ireland, cattle dealer :— PATRICK TIMLIN a cattle drover or talesman, 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, rather freckled lace, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, clean shaven, proportionate figure; late of Long- close- lare, Walmgate Bar, York, where his mother still resides; generally dressed in greenish gray cloth coat and vest, brown check trowsers, collar and tie, and hard felt hat, of respectable appearance, and is well known amongst Irish cattle dealers. Timlin left York on the 2nd of February last, and is supposed to have gone to Ireland. His parents belong to the west or south- west oi Ireland, and he is supposed to have relatives or friends still there, with whom he may be staying.
