TIOHrB. % B~ All Notioes intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication,. No Description can bs inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary la forward the Informations to the Inspector- Gensral. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant baa been Issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin. Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, MARCH 25, 1892. NOTICE. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 13th March, 1892, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— JOHN GINGLES, 15 years of age, fair hair, light blue eyes, meeting eyebrows, straight nose, smftll mouth, fair complexion, oval visage, slight mabe, 4 feet 10 inches high, is a carpenter, born at Liverpool formerly belonged to Liverpool, n » rents reside at 20, Seymour- street, Belfast; small scar on left cheek. The school dress consists of:— Brown corduroy trowsers, hlack tweed vest, blue and white stripe shirt, red an'd black check tie, Blucher boots, woollen stock' ings. Oulton and Miss Jane R. Richardson ths sum of Is. 6 d. each, by means of false pretences:— Brown eyes, slightly aquiline nose, fresh " complexion, rather long face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 or 29 years of age, dark hair: wore a light check water- proof overcoat, dark tweed trowsers, dark blue vert; travels and represents himself as a piano tuner';. sup- posed law clerk. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the aame time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers sther male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, nqnare shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hit, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOT*.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. PATRICK CUMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 12th January, 1892, not arrested. ( 7451 94556.) Cork. Description of SAMUEL CROSBIE ( mother's surname Johnson), native of Birmingham, who bas been arrested on the 10th March, 1892, at Youghal, in the barony of Imokiily, parish of St. Mary's, and ramsnded on he charge of vagrancy:— Mark oi tore under right ear, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6£ inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a blue serge coat and vest, black, serge trowsers, and an old snuff- colour ed dust coat; is a clerk. He is suspected of having committed crime elsewhere, several pawn tickets for jewellery, Ac., having been found in his possession. Youghal, 12th March, 1892. ( 14480 c 98691.) Description of REDMOND RONAYNE POWER, native of Waterford, who stands charged with having, in the barony of East Division of West Carbery, parish of Creagh, embezzled a large sum of money, including in particular a sum ot £ 43, lodged with him in the Skibbereen Branch of the Monster and Leinster Banking Company, Limited, on or about the 22nd October, 1891:— Black drooping moustache; brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, active medium make, 6 feet high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore a round black hat black diagonal coat, trowsers, and vest; bins melton overcoat; teller in Munster and Leinster Bank. Description of TIMOTHY RIOROAN ( mother's surname Twomey), native of Shanakeel, county Cork, and JOHN DOODY ( mother's surname Murphy), native of Kilboultra, connty Cork, who stand charged with having, on or about the 5th Jnne, 1891, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Macroom, wilfully conspired, confederated, and agreed to murder one Jeremiah Riordan, of Shanakeel:— 1. Square shoulders, rather short neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a round felt hat, black frock coat, striped gray trowsers, black vest; is a farmer. Warrant for arrest in the hands of the District Inspector R. I. C., Macroom. 2. Boyish appearance, gray eyes, rather thick nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fret 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. WILLIAM THOMPSON ( escaped from Dundrum Criminal Lunatic Asylum), Hue- and- Cry, 12th January, 1892, not arrested. ( 12894 c.— 95740.) Galway. Description of DENIS HESSIAN, native of Clare- galway, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 27th or morning of the 28th February, 1892, in the barony of Galway, parish of Saint Nicholas, stolen from the Naval Reserve Battery at Fair Hill. 22 rifles and 17 cntlasses:— Flat mouth, and supposed to have a pimple on the side of his nose, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, rather long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair; wore a tweed trowsers and white flannel sleeved under- vest; is a herd. Description of JAMES WALSH, supposed native of Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 8th day of February, 1892, in the barony of Connell, parish of Morristownbiller, obtained a chequo for £ 9 3 » . 4d„ by false pretences, which he subsequently converted to his own use, from Mr. Shore, contractor, at Newbridge:— Walks with a slight halt in right leg, shaves chin and upper lip; gray eyes, thick nose, radish complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age; is a tramp labourer; served in army. Warrant issued. Athy, 18th February, 1892., ( 14060 a.— 97901.) Kilkenny. Woman, supposed to be ANASTASIA M'DON- NELL ( forging cheque), Hue- and- Cry, 12th January, 1892, not arrested. ( 12793 95541.) King's. Particulars of CHABLES ROUND, of Lord- street, Liverpool, who was convicted on 1st March, of having, on 20th October, 1891, obtained, by false pretences, a sum of money from Edward Hurst, pro- vision dealer, Parsonstown, and sentenced to 18 montls' imprisonment, as it is believed he has also defrauded numbers of traders throughout the country, it is requested that the Police will cause the necessary inquiries to be made amongst small dealers in earthen- ware and others. He represented himself to be a commission a< ent for various pottery firms in England, and also traded as the " Staffordshire Earthenware and Hardware Company," a firm which exists in name oily, and on receipt of money fails to forward the goods. In some instances where the orders were for small amounts, he forwarded the goods for the purpose, presumably, of getting larger orders. Description of GEORGE MORRISSON, who stands charged with having, in tLe month of July, 1891, in the barony of Carra, parish of Aglish, embezzled the sum of £ 100, the property of l^ is employer, William Levingstone, Esquire, Westport :— Slope shoulders, bends forward when walking, long upper Up, shaved full face, dark moustache; brown eyes, dark complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 30 years of age; is a commercial clerk. Description cf THOMAS O'HARA ( mother's sur- name Taylor), native of Carrantemple, district of Ballymote, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of February, 1892, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Kilcolman, seriously assaulted James Convee, at Ballaghadereen, by kick- ing him on the head, thereby placing his life in danger; gray eyes, rather long note, sandy complexion, rather long face, stout, active make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, sandy hair; wears sandy moustache, shaves all the face; wore a light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of WILLIAM FOLEY, native of Kilmessan, who stands charged with having, during past four years, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Ratoath, embezzled various sums of money, amounting to £ 18, received by him for his master, Laurence Canning:— Brown eyos, regularnose, fresh complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a round black hat, black sack coat, brown striped trowsers, brown vest; smart appearance; is a driver of a bread van. Warrant issued. Dunshaughlin, 16th Fob., 1892. ( 14061 97902.) Monaghan, PATRICK SHERRY, alias DUFFY ( rape), Hue- and- Cry, 26th February has not been arrested. ( 13094 c.— 96101.) Queen's. Description of G. B. MYERS alias W. BARON, native oi London, and A MAN unknown, supposed native of London, who stand charged with having, on the 5th February, 1892, in the barony of Maryborough East, perish of Borris, obtained by false pretences a sum of £ 4 1*. from Mr. R. J. Henderson, provision dealer, Maryborough, representing themselves as sell- ing Stramonium Cigarettes, and appointing agents for the firm, B. Myers, Stramonium cigarette Manufac- turers, 3A, Shandy- street, Mile End- road, London, S., which only exists in name. The London Police have received several complaints. They are travelling from town to town, and have committed several frauds. The cigarettes are of no value:— 1. Long hands and fingers, full mouth, sandy moustache, speaks with an English accent; regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy or fair hair; wore a bard low hat, Melton top coat with velvet collar, and light trowsers; represents himself as a traveller. 2. Jewish appearance, slight dark moustache, dark brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; represents himself as a traveller. Those men take orders, deliver goods, appoint agents at gen- erally 10*. 6d. per month, undertaking to take back goods unsold, and on these grounds get orders and receive money. Several frauds have been committed by them. Warrants issued for their arrest. Maryborough, 6th February, 1892. ( 13893 o.— 97578.) Sligo. ROBERT SLEATOR ( stealing a gate\ Hue- and- Cry, 19th January, not arrested. ( 12278 c 94846.) Tipperary. Description of MATTHEW REARDON, PATRICK REARDON, and JAMES REARDON, natives of Gurteendevane, who stand charged with having, on the 16th March, 1892, at Ballyhane in tie barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toe no, seriously assaulted George Reardon, by striking him on the head with stone', fracturing his sku'l and placinz his life in danger:— 1. Gray eyes, regular nosp, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 21 or 28 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap, bright tweed ( sack) coat, trowsers, and vest; is a fa* m labourer. 2. Very good looking, never shaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, slight make, 5 feet 11 lrcles high, about 22 or 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a bright tweed cap, dark seree coat, bright tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a tailor. 3. Very gotd looking, never shaved, no beard or whiskers; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 21 jears of age, fair hair; wore a bright twead cap, bright tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a farm labourer; is brother to Nos. 1 and 2. Warrant issued. Dundrum, 20th March, 1892. ( 14574 c.— 98891.) Description of JOHN MAHONY, alias BILL WALLACE, alias THOMAS WALSH, native of Limerick city ( doubt fal), who has been arrested on the 19th Marcb, 1892, in the barony of Slievedaragh, parish of carrick, and remanded on the charge of being a deserter from the army and fa- ling to give a satisfactory account of himself, and it is believed he may have comuitted crime elsewhere:— Small scar on each ejebrow, blue eyes, slightly hooked nose, fre- h complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown ha'r; wore a soft hat, brown tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and old tweed vest, whioh was covered by a blue jersey, wore mili- tary stockings; is a labourer; stated he was a mason, and that he had been trained with the Tipperary Militia in January last. Police will please communi- cate anything known about him without delay. He speaks with a Cork accent. Carrick- on- Suir, 20th March, 1692. ( 14583 c.— 93893.) Description of a MAN, name and native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on tbe 12th Marcb, 1892, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Clonbeg, unlawfully entered the dwelling- house of Michael Halloran, Billycrana, and stolen therefrom a coat, razor, and a scarf, all value for £ 1 Is. 6d., and 4*. in cash :— Wild looking, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fest 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 yesri of age; wore a cap, gray ( waed coat, trowsers, and vest; bad the appearance of an Army Reserve man. Warrant in hands of the Sergeant at Kilross. Tipperary, 17th March, 1692. ( 14548 c.— 9= 814.) Description of THOMAS KIELLY, native of Cutteen, who stands charged with having, on tbe 7th March, 1892, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish ef Solohedbeg, unlawfully assaulted one Morgan Ryan, at Newtown, thereby placing his life in danger: — Brown eyes, regular noie, fresh . complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age, brown hair tinged with gray j were a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant in the hands of D. I. Tipperary. Tipperary, 15th Marcb, 1892. ( 14514 c.— 98759.) Description of JOHN BUTLER, native of Bally- philip, who stands charged with having, on the 27th December, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Solohead, seriously assaulted Margaret Glasheen :— Quick manner of speaking; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 47 jears of ate, dark hair, turning gray; wore a dark coat, tweed trowsers and vest. ( 11888 c.— 93817.) JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 11148 c.— 92603) Tyrone. Description of HUGH KELLY, native ol Fallagh, county Tyrone, who standi charged with having, on the night of 2nd February, 1892, in the barony of Strabene Upper, parish of Cappagh, attempted to rape Mary Donnelly, of Ballinamullen:— Dark eyes, regular nore, dark sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a black cloth coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a small broken down farmer and road contractor. Warrant issued for his arrest. Omagh, 9th Feb., 1892. ( 13890 97649.) ANDREW M'CREA ( firing at the person), Hue- and Cry, 16th February, 1892, not arrested. ( 12193 a— 94309.) Waterford. THOMAS CASHEL ( stealing postal order), Hue and- Cry, 16th February, 1892, not arrested. ( 12255 c.— 94555.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, 6 Division. Particulars relative to Convict OWEN KEATING, o 144, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 28th Marcb, 1887, for housebreaking, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 34 years of age on con- viction, married, is a tailor, born at Dublin, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Kil- kenny :— Dark brown hair turning gray, hazel eyes, brown eyebrows, medium nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, etc ut make, 5 feet 6£ inches high; cut- mark on upper lip and at corner of right eye, two cut- marks on right wrist. This man was released on licence from Maryboro' Prison, on 4th Ms rob, 1891, and went to reside at Kilkenny. He left Londonderry ( where he had been serving in the Militia) on 2nd ulto. for Belfast, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 14th March, 1892. ( 464 H. C.) • THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CRY, MARCH 25, 1892. Particulars relative to Convict JOHN JAMES MORIARTY, o 75, convicted at the Dublin Com- mission Court, on 10th August, 18f 6, for embezzle- ment, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is a bank clerk, born at Dublin, resided at Dublin before conviction, where his friends reside:— Brown hair, blue eyej, brown eyebrows, regular no3e, small mouth, fair com- plexion, round visage, stout mal e, 5 feet 9$ inches high} burn- mark between right thumb and finger, lost an upper front tooth. Thia man was released on licence from Mount- oy Prison, 9th November, 1891, and went to reside at 23, Upper Temple- street, Dublin. He rscently left his residence without notifying same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 14th March, 1892. ( 464 H. C.) Description of JOHN SMITH, alias JOHN BRADY, alias HENRY BRADY, alias EDWARD LYNCH, who is charged with stealing an overcoat ( recovered) at Burton- on- Trent, and committed to Stafford Quarter Sessions:— No fixed place of residence, is a joiner, 70 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, gray bair, light blue eyes, medium build, scar on top of forehead, fourth left finger contracted; native of Balleyduff, county Cavan, Ireland; unmarried. Wanted, on a Sheriff's Warrant, for perjury and fraudulent bankruptcy PATRICK DOCHERTY, a money lender, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, stout made, fresh complexion, bare faced except mous ache, fair hair, cut short and turning gray; usually dressed in a gray tweed jacket suit and felt hat; resided at one time at 496, Dobbie's Loan, of this city, but some time ago bought Artilow Farm, Longheske, county Donegal, Ireland, where he has since being residing. The accused was indicted on a charge of perjury and fraudulent bankruptcy, and was to have been tried at a Diet of the Sheriff and Jury Court, held in this city to- day, but failed to appear, and his bail bond was declared forfeited, and a Warrant granted for his arrest. He will probably endeavour to leave the country. Absconded yesterday.
