THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, FEBRUARY 23, 1892. King's. Particulars of CHARLES ROUND, of Lord- street, Liverpool, whp stands charged on ramand with having, on 20th October, 1891, obtained, by false pretences, a sum of money from Edward Hurst, pro- vision dealer, Parsonstown. Round is now in custody, and as it is believed he has also defrauded numbers of traders throughout the country, it is requested that the Police will cause the necessary inquiries to be made' amongst snail dealers in earthenware and others. He represents himself to be a commission a- ent tor various pottery firms ia England, and also trades as the " Staffordshire Earthenware and Hardware Com- pany," a firm which exists in name only, and on receipt of money fails to forward fha goods. In some instances where the orders were for small amounts, he has forwarded the goods for the purpose, presum- ably, of getting larger order*. Description of WILLIAM FOLEY, native of Kilmessan, who stands charged with having, during past four years, in the barony of Ratoath, parish of Ratoath, embezzled various soms of money, amounting to £ 18, received by him for his master, Laurence Canning:— Brown ey « s, regularnose, fresh complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore a round black hat, black sack coat, brown striped troweers, brown vest; smart appearance; is a driver of a bread van. Description of PATRICK SHERRY, alias PATRICK DUFFY, native of Donaghmoyne, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 7th of December, 1891, in the barony of Trough, parish of Donagh, committed a rape on Anne Elizabeth Clarke, and subsequently escaped from the Police when under arrest:— A fresh cut on forehead Which he received in the struggle with the Police; brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, red bair, short red moustache, rest of face shaven; wore a black bat, old tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. BARON, native of London, and A MAN unknown, supposed native of London, who stand charged with having, on the 5th February, 1892, in the barony of Maryborough East, psrish of Borris, obtained by false pretences a sum of £ 4 1 « . from Mr. R. J. Henderson, provision dealer, Maryborough, representing themselves as sell- ing Stramonium Cigarettes, and appointing agents for the firm, B. Myers, Stramonium cigarette Manufac- tuiers, 3A, Shandy street, Mile End- road, London, S., which only exists in name. The London Police have received several complaints. They are travelling from town to town, and have committed several frauds. The cigarettes are of no value :— 1. Long hands and fingers, full mouth, sandy moustache, speaks with an English accent; regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy or fair hair; wore a herd lo< r bat, Melton top coat with velvet collar, and light trowsers; represents himself as a traveller. 2. Jewish appearance, slight dark moustache, dark brown eyes, regular rosa, sallow complexion, ronnd face, stout mak", about 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore adsrk coat, trowsers, and vest; represents himself as a traveller. Those men take orders, deliver goods, appoint agents at gen- erally 10* 6d. per month, undertaking to take back goods unsold, and on these ; rounds get orders and receive money. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places Unknown, who Btand charged with having, on the 3rd September) 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty 1 1. Small sandy side whiskors and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 fant 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy bair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blae overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, rottnd face, stout make, C. feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stent make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 80 years of age, fnir hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody t— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; , s a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of HUGH KELLY, native of Fallagh, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the night of 2nd February, 1892, in the barony of Stribane Upper, parish of Cappagh, attempted | to rape Mary Donnelly, of " Ballinamullen:— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion," long thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a black cloth coat, dark t weed trowsera, and dark vest; is a small brikon- dowa farmer and road contractor. Description of MATHEW FAHY, who stsndi charged with the larceny of three chests of tea from the premises of the Midland Great Western Railway Company, at North Wall, on 30th November, 1891 :— 85 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round shoulders, brown hair, full face, heavy sandy moustache, remainder of face shaved ; when last seen was dressed in cross bar tweed suit and black Jerry bat; is a native of Woodford, county Galway, and has friends residing at Athenry and Nenagh. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS NASH, convicted at Chelmsford, Essex, at the Quarter Sessions, on the 19th October, 1887, for fraud, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 3 years' police super- vision :— 45 years of age on conviction, is a labourer, born in Middlesex; no fixed residence; brown hair, blae eyes, fair eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 3 inches high; scar on left arm. This man was released from Pentonville Prison on licence, 29th October, 1891. He notified to tbe ! Dublin Metropolitan Police on 26th ult. that he was I ; oing to Cork, but he has not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 21st January, 1892. ( 451 H. C.) Lancashire. Wanted, for forging and uttering two Post Office Orders, about 2 p. m., on the 27th instant, a man who gave bis name as THOMAS DILLON or DICKENS:— Spoke with an Dish ascent, about 35 years of age, 5 fett 10 or 11 inches high, dark com- plexion, darkhairand small side whiskers, long features; dressed in a shabby dark brown Chesterfield overcoat. On tie 26th instant he obtained two Post Office Orders for Is. each, at a Branch Post Office, payable to William Gardner at Bradford, and Waller Dudley at Northampton; when presented they had each been altered to £ 5, payable at Liverpool He purchased a black Inverness macintosh, with a velvet collar ( which he may wear), for 80j.,- at a large cut fitters, and got both Orders cashed at the shop where the purchase was msde. . A white pearl brooch, with a purple stone ( amethyst) set in centre'; value £ 40. A . reward of £ 5 will be given for its recovery. ; ' 2. A French watch, set at the back with imitation rubies and pearls, also a row of pearls round the dial, four or five of which were missing, the keyhole for winding the watch was on the dial.
