MT All Notioes intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn j but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a oharge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and'by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *•* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be 3nod enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc, and of any circumstanoes rendering one supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Description of REDMOND RONAYNE POWER, native of Waterford, who stands charged with having, in the barony o( East Division of West Carbery, parish of Creagh, embezzled a large sum of money, including in particular a sum of £ 43, lodged with bim in the Skibbereen Branch of the Munster and Leinster Banking Company, Limited, on or about the 22nd October, 1891:— Black drooping moustache ; brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, active medium make, 6 feet high, about 35 years of age, black hair; wore a round black hat, jlack diagonal coat, trowsers, and vest; blue melton overcoat; teller in Monster and Leinster Bank. Square shoulders, rather short neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a round felt hat, black frock coat, striped gray trowsers, black vest j is a farmer. Description of JOHN HUSSEY ( mother's sur- name Connor), native of Cragg, near Castleisland, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of December, 1891, in the barony of Trughanacmy, parish of Nohoval, conspired to murder one Thomas O'Connor:— Has a bnrn mark on lower part of neck, near chest, good- looking, shaves all his face, when seen at a distance looks like a Christian Brother, has a habit of looking at the groundt dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, oval face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, a brown Chesterfield over- coat, dark cloth trowsers and vest; generally wears a standing- up collar; is a farmer's son; is a returned American. Description of JAMES WALSH, supposed native of Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on tbe 8th day of February, 1892, in the barony of Connell, parish of Morristownbiller, obtained a cheque for £ 9 3s. 4d., by falsa pretences, which he subsequently converted to his own u£ e, from Mr. Shore, contractor, at Newbridge:— Walks with a slight halt in right leg, shaves chin and upper lip; gray eyes, thick nose, radish complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age; is a tramp labourer; served in army. Particulars of CHARLES ROUND, of Lord street, Liverpool, who stands charged on remand with having, on 20th October, 1891, obtained, by false pretences, a sum of money from Edward Hurst, pro- vision dealer, Parsonstown. Round is now in custody, and as it is believed he has also defrauded numbers of traders throughout the country, it is requested that THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, FEBRUARY 19, 1882. the Police will cause the necessary inquiries to be made amongst small dealers in earthenware and others. He represents himself to ba a commission a; ent tor various pottery firms ia England, and also trades as the " Staffordshire Earthenware and Hardware Com- pany," a firm which exists in name only, and on receipt of money fails to forward the goods. In some instances where the orders were for small amonnts, ho has forwarded the goods for the purpose, presum- ably, of gett ng larger order*. Description of JAMES MULLAN, native of Formil. who stands charged with bav ng, on the 10ih day of February, 1892, in the barony of Kennaught, parish of Bovevagh, stabbed Michael Kane, of Formil, with a penknife :— Recent cuts on face, which is shaved, except moustache, which is dark; large gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 10 irches high, about 30 years of ege, dark hair; wore a dark rough tweed coat, trowsers, and veft; is a sheep dealer. Description of PATRICK KIERNAN ( mother's surname Kane), native of Money duff, who stands charged with having, on the 8th February, 1892, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, dangerously assaulted one Patrick Creegan:— Small sandy mous- tache, face shaved; blue eyes, thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abcut SO years of age, sandy hair; wore a hard black hat, gray twead coat, trowsers, and vest ; is a farmer. Description of PATRICK RYAN ( TURIG), and MICHAEL RYAN ( TURIG mother's surname Bourke, natives of Kylegarriff, who stand charged with having, on the 11th December, 1891, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, committed an assault, endangering life, on Patrick Hennessy :— J. Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, rather thin face, medium make, 6 feet higb, about 25 years of age, fair hair, very fair moustache; wore a brown hat, blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, rather full face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair, small fair moustache; wore a low black hat, black coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Mayo, Description cf THOMAS O'HARA ( mother's snr- name Taylor), native of Carrantemple. district of Ballymote, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the lst day of February, 1892, in the larony of Costelloe, parish of Kilcolman, seriously assaulted James Convee, at Balkghadereen, by kick- ing him on the bead, thereby placing his life in darger ; gray eyes, rather long nose, sandy complexion, rather long face, s'out, active make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, abcut 22 years of age, sandy hair; wears sandy moustache, shaves all the face; wore a light tweed coat, troweers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Monaghan, Description of PATRICK SHERRY, alias PATRICK DUFFY, native of Donagbmoyne, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 7th of December, 1891, in the barony of Trough, parish of Donagh, committed a rape on Anne Elizabeth Clarke, and subsequently escaped from tbe Police when under arrest:— A fresh cut on forehead which he received in the struggle with the Police; brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 ft et 7 inches higb, about 30 years cf ege, red hair, short red moustache, rest of face shaven; wore a black hat, old tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. Henderson, provision dealer, Maryborough, representing themselves as sell- ing Stramonium Cigarettes, and appointing agents for the firm, B. Myers, Stramonium cigarette Manufac- turers, 3A, Shandy street, Mile End- road. London, S., which only exists in name. The London Police have received several complaints They are travelling from town to town, and have committed several frauds. The cigarettes are of no value:— 1. Long hands and fingers, full mouth, sandy moustache, speaks with an English accent; regular noce, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, sandy or fair hair; wore a herd low hat, Melton top coat with velvet collar, and light trowsers; represents himself as a traveller. 2. Jewish appearance, slight dark moustache, dark brown eyes, regular cose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 5 inches higb, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; represents himself as a traveller. Those men take orders, deliver goads, appoint agents at gen- erally 10$. € d. per month, undertaking to take back goods unsold, and on these grounds get orders and receive money. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty:— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches higb, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of ago, sandy hair ; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Description of MATHEW FAHY, who stands charged with the larceny of three cheats of tea from the premises of the Midland Great Western Railway Company, at North Wall, on 30th November, 1891 :— 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round shoulders, brown hair, full face, heavy sandy moustache, remainder of face shaved; when last seen was dressed in cross- bar tweed suit and black Jerry hat; is a native of Woodford, county Galway, and has friends residing at Athenry and Nenagh, Warrant in the lands of Chief Superintendent. 9th January, 1892. ( 416 H. a) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CRY, FEBRUARY 19, 1892. ENGLISH POLICE. Essex. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS NASH, convicted at Chelmsford, Essex at the Quarter Sessions, on the 19th October, 1887, for frand, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude and 3 years' police super- vision — 45 years of sge on conviction, is a labourer, born in Middlesex; no fixed residence; brown hair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 3 inches high; scar on left arm. This man was released from Pentonville Prison on licence, 29th October, 1891. He notified to the Dnblin Metropolitan Police on 26th nit. that he was going to Cork, but he has not reported himself there, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he shonld be dealt with nnder sec. 5 of 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 21st January, 1892. ( 451 H. C.) Lancashire. Wanted, for forging and uttering two Post Office Orders, about 2 p. m., on tbe 27th instant, a man who gave his name as THOMAS DILLON or DICKENS:— Spoke with an Irish accent, abont 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches higb, dark com- plexion, darkhairand small side whiskers, long features; dressed in a shabby dark brown Chesterfield overcoat, black felt bat, white cashmere muffler, and dark trowsers; on another occasion he wore a shabby brown tweed suit. On the 26th instant be obtained two Post Office Orders for Is. each, at a Branch Post Office, payable to William Gardner at Bradford, and Walter Dudley at Northampton; when presented they bad each been altered to £ 5, payable at Liverpool He purchased a black Inverness macintosh, with a velvet collar ( which be may wear), for SO*., at a large cut fitters, and got both Orders rashed at the shop where th? purchase was made. Kindly cause every possible enquiry to be made; wain shopkeepers; and if met with arrest and wire, or forward any information to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. WALTER CRESSY HALL, wanted on Warrrant, for fraud, at Hove, on 9th January, 1892:— About 50 years of age, about 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark hair, bald, florid com- plexion, stout figure, dark brown moustache; wore a black flat crown Oxford hat, brown overcoat; gave an address 5, Park- place, London. Glasgow, THEFT OF £ 60. Wanted for stealing the above sum, the property of the Albion Alhumenizing Company, 96, Bath- street, of this city, in whose employment he was as Clerk, JAMES HENDERSON:— About 18 years of age, low set, stout made, short legs, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, walks with short quick steps, and usually keeps his hands in his pockets when walking; ( supposed) dressed in a dark jacket suit, dark brown overcoat and black felt hat; resided at 91, Gloucester- street, of this city. Accused was this morning handed two cheques, each for £ 3 >, in his employers' premises as above, in order to get them cashed, which he did and immediately afterwards absconded. Will probably endeavour to leave tbe country. Please cause diligent search and enquiry to be made at hotels, shipping, shipping offices, and other likely places, and shonld accused be got, arrest and wire, J. Description of a brooch and watch, the property of Mrs. Fitzgerald Kenny, which were stolen from her dwellinghouse at Clogher, parish of Drum, and county of Mayo, between 31st July, 1891, and 14th January, 1892, by some person or parsons at present unknown:— 1. A white pearl brooch, with a purple stone ( amethyst) set in centre; value £ 40. A reward of £ 5 will be given for its recovery. 2. A French watch, set at the back with imitation rubies and pearls, also a row of pearls round the dial, four or five of which were missing, the keyhole for winding the watch was on the dial. A reward of £ 1 will be given for its recovery. It is supposed these articles were pawned either in the country or in Dublin city or suburbs. Informa- tion to be given to District Inspector, R. I.
