Description of JAMES IRWIN, native of Clough, who stands charged with having, on the 20th Novem- ber, 1891, in the barony of Lower Glenarm, parish of Layde, stolen three heifers, the property of Rose Mooney and Francis M'Auley;— Wants a tooth in lett side upper jaw, walks stiff as if feet sore, turns out his toes; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a brown hard felt low hat, brown faded coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout mute, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overeaat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is av Member of Parliament. Description of PATRICK CUMMINS ( mother's surname Neill), native of Bagnalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Idrone East, parish of Dunleckney, seriously assaulted one Patrick Whelan, by stabbing him with a knife. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Carlow Quarter Sessions, on 22na inst., but failed to surrender to his recognizance :— Light cut mark over lett eye and on right thumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair, hair grows thin on face, shaves seldom; wore a round black cap, with peak, gray coat, trowsers, and vest. Description of TIMOTHY RIOROAN ( mother's surname Twomey), native of Shanakeel, county Cork, and JOHN DOODY ( mother's surname Murphy), native of Kilboultra, county Cork, who stand charged with having, on or about the 5th June, 1891, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Macroom, wilfully conspired, confederated, and agreed to murder one Jeremiah Riordan, of Shanakeel:— 1. Square shoulders, rather short neck, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, f tout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 32 year} of age, dark hair; wore a round felt hat, black frock cost, striped gray trowsen, blsck vest; is a farmer. Warrant for arrest in the hsnds of the District Inspector R. I. C., Macroom. 2. Boyish appearance, gray eyes, rather thick nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout mate, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, dart hair ; wore a soft black hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant for arrest in the hands of the District Inspector R. I C., Macroom. Macroom, 8th January, 1892. ( 96824.) Description of DENIS CARTHY and JOHN PENDER alias " BALLYCOTTON," natives of Tallow, county Waterford, who stand charged with having, on the night of 13th or morning of 14lh instant, in the barony of Kinnattalloon, parish of Mogeely, stolen six sheep, the property of Thomas TOBIN, of Lackenboha, and sold them at the last Midleton fair ( 14th instant), for £ 9 12s.:— 1. Left arm appears weak; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, gray trowsers, and vest; wears all his beard, which is of a dirty brown colour. Has the appearance of a small farmer. He was in Amerioa, and was convicted some time ago of cattle stealing. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin freckled face, slight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 years of age; shaves all the face except moustache, which is sandy; was in the army some time. Youghal, 6th Dec., 1891. ( 13137 c — 96209.) Imokilly, parish of St. Mary's, Youghal, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch, with fiiwers engraved nn outside, No. 110,59*, and gold chain, with two gold lockets attached, the chain was broken at the catch, and tied with thread, all value £ 3; also three half sovereigns and 13s. in silver, taken from the house of one J. Evans:— Mark of sore on back of one hand ; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feat 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a black hat and feathers, plain black dress, with rows of braid, blue jacket, napped, with two side pockets ; speaks with a Dublin accent; very fond of speaking about clergymen, and says she has brothers priests, and sisters nuns. Warrant issued for her arrest. Youghal, 30th Nov., 1891. ( 12908 c— 95762.) Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 8*. 3d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £ P, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in upper jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age. fair monstache and hair; wore a hard low hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a sergeant 1 st Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform about 9.30 p. m., and Queenstown by 11 p. m. train, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Qneenstown, 3rd Oct., 1891. Description of KATTIE CRIMPTON, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tho 28th day of November, 1891, in the barony of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD ( obtaining money by false pretences), Hue- vid- Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 11287 a— 92828.) TIMOTHY DRISCOLL ( house attack), Hue- and- Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 9775 c.— 90171.) Down. Description of SAMUEL SCOTT, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 12th day of November, 1891, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, upper half, parish of Moira, robbed one George Bar- racks :— Gray eyes, lone nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 39 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, black coat, brown tweed trowsers, and black vest 5 is a tramp. He is at present in Belfast Gaol, having been committed for trial at Winter Assizes, but may have committed offences elsewhere. Banbridge, 15th Nov., 1891. ( 12606 c.— 95230.) Dublin. Description of WILLIAM THOMPSON, native of Gilford, county Down, who stands charged with having, on the 29th November, 1891, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Taney, escaped from Dundrum Central Criminal Lunatic Asylum, where he had been confined as a criminal for murder;— Cut mark on back of head, scar on right breast, northern accent; gray eyes, medium nose, sallow complexion, round face, stout make, I feet 8 Inches THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JANUARY 12. 1382. high, about 31 yearS of age, light frown hair; wore a black turban smoking cap, asylum aniforn, gray tweed coat, tiowfers, and vest) coat has scarlet collar and scarlet strips down back, and other red stripes, trowsers has also red stripes ; is a shopkeeper, em- ployed as baler in asylum. Description of KATE KEARNS, native of oonnty Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1891 in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, wilfully and unlawfully abandoned, and exposed her male infant child, a fortnight old, whereby its life was endangered:— Slightly pock pitted, black eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, stout make, ft feet S or 4 inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair; wore a black shawl and an old white calico dress, flounced and pnckered behind, wore no boots nor shoes; is a domestic servant. Information sworn aid Warrant issued, and is in the hands of District Inspector at Galway. Galway, 2nd Nov., 1891. ( 12424 c— 94P « l ) Kerry. Deicription of MICHAEL CAVANAGH, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 5th January, 1892, in the baronv of Glanerought. parish of Kilgarvan, stolen and carried away from tl e possi ssion of <- t, e John Sweeny, at Kilgarvan, the sum cf £ 8 1? « . f d, consisting of two three pound notes, two single rotes, 10*. in gold, and 9 s. 6d - in silver:— Portion of left ear missing, fnll gray eyes, long nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 35 yjars of age, dark hair; wore a • oft black bat, black coat, tweed trowsers, tweed vest, and white and bine handkerchief around his neck ; is a ganger on railway works. Warrant has been issued for his arrest Kenmare, 6th January, 1832. ( 13446 c.— 96787.) JAMES BALLANCE ( stealing), hue- and- Cry, 11th August, has not been arrested. ( 9902 o.— 90393.) Kilkenny. Description of a woman, unknown ( supposed to be ANASTASIA M'DONNELL, native place un- krowr, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of November, 1891, in the city of Kilkenny, parish of St. Mary's, forged a cheque fcr £ 50, which she tendered in payment for shop goods:— Has the appearance of a country woman, slow manner of speaking; fresh complexion, sift round face, stout make, I' out 5 feet high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark brown or black shawl, brown plush jacket, black dress, no head dress. Kilkenny, 24th Nov., 1891. ( 12793 r 95541.) King's. Description of the undernamed yeung offender, who, on tie ? rd January, 1892, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— JOHN BRADY, No. 1,181, 18 years of age, 5 feet inches high, medium make, somewhat sallow complexion, rough features, black hair, gray eyos, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Drogheda; his mother, Eliza Brady, resides at Byrne's- lane, Drogheda. The school dress consists of moleskin trowsers, corduroy vert, dark gray tweed tunic, black cloth Scotch cap, Blucher boots, Nr. 1,181. Had made up his mind to enlist; left in company of Daniel Kennedy, similar dress ; both bojs went by Tyrrellspass. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the near- est Justice, on remand, on^ will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 4th January, 1892. ( 445 H.".) JOHN BURKE, ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 10080 < w 90906.) Limerick. Description of PATRICK RYAN ( TURIG), and MICHAEL RYAN ( TURIG mother's surname Bourke, natives of Kylegarriff, who stand charged with having, on the 11th December, 1891, in the barony of Coonaghb, parish of Door, committed an assault, endangering life, on Patrick Hennessy:— 1. Blue eyes, regnlar nose, fair complexion rather thin face, medium make, 6 leet high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, very fair moustache ; wore a trown hat, blue serge- coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Blue eyes, regular nose, fair eomplexicn, rather fnll face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair, small fair moustache; wore a low black hat, black coat, gray tweed troweers and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrants have been issued. Newpallas, 18th Dec., 1891. ( 13169 c.— 96283.) Description of JOHN GRIMLEY, native plare unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1891, in the barony of Borough of Limerick, parish of St. John's, stolen a coat and trowsers and a sum of about twenty- five or twenty- six shillings, the property of gunner John Johnston, Royal Artillery:— Cicatrix inner side of left knee and leg, tattoo marks on back and front of both forearms; gray eyes, fresh complexion, 5 feet 8£ inches high, about 21 years of ape, dark brown bair. This man deserted from the 69th Field Battery. Royal Artillery, at Limerick, on the 4th of October, 1891, and may be wearing the clothes which he stole, which are of the following description, dark tweed coat and trowsers. Warrant in hanfa of District Inspector at L'merick. Limerick, 24th Oct,, 1891. ( 12273 c.— 94592.) WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder), Hue- acd- Cry, 12th May, has not bsen arrested. Monaghan Desc- iption of PATRICK SHERRY, alias PATRICK DUFFY, native of Donaghmoyne, cour ty Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the 7th of December, 1891, in the barony of Trough, parish of Donagh, committed a rape on Anne Elizabeth Clarke, and subsequently escaped from the Police when under arrest:— A fresh cut on forehead which he received in the struggle with the Police; brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round fall face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, red hair, short red moustache, rest of face shaven ; wore a black hat, old tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued for his arrest- Monaghan 13th Dec,, lfc9I. ( 13094 c.— 96101.) Queen's. Description of JOHN PURCELL, native of Mona- mondra, Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1891, at Ballycleary, in the barony cf Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen the sun of 10*. from his master:— Light brown eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, thin sandy beard, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, dark morning coat, and barracan trowsers, no vest; is a tramping labourer. A Warrant is in hands of Police at Castletown for this man's arrest. Mountrath, 25th Oct., 1891. ( 12274 o.— 94593. Roscommon. JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested.; ( 9247 c.— 89331.) Sligo. Description of ROBERT SLEATOR ( mother's surname Foster), native of Behey. who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of October, 1891, in the barony of Tirerrill, parish of Ballysodare, stolen an iron gate, value £ 3. the property of John Coleman, Collooney:— Small fair moustache, gray or blue eyes, sligh+ ly hooked noee, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vast, sometimes wears an overcoat, Newmarket make; is a farmer's son; served in the R. I. C. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Riverstown Petty Sessions on 28th ult., bat failed to surrender to his recognizances. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Collooney. Collooney, 1st Nov., 1891. ( 12278 94846.) Tipperary. Descriptions of PATRICK DAVERN, native of Bohernagibbons, and MICHAEL M'INERNEY ( mother's surname Duggan), native of Tipperary, who stand charged with having, on the 9th of November, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tip- perary, seriously assaulted John Rielly, of Garryshane, by striking him with a stone on the head, from the effects of which he died on 20th November, 1891:— 1. Good- lcoking, active appearance, walks with a short step, gray eyes, rad nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark t « eed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer. Is a returned American, and may try to emigrate. Warrant issned, in hands of District Inspector, Tipperary. 2. Round high shoulders, short neck awkward gait, large high mouth, generally keeps his hands in his trowsers pockets; very large bine eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, ireckled face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap. brown tweed sack coat, brown tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a feather plucker and labourer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of District Inspector, Tipperary. Tipperary, 23rd Nov., 1891. ( 12743 c— 95465.) Description of JAMES BRIEN, alias BRIEN THE RAKE ( mother's surname Power), Native of Tip- perary, S. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd October, 1891, in the barony ol Slievardagh, parish of Newtown, stolen the sum of £ 18 from his employer, James Whelan, of Oldcastle:— Walks with a heavy slovenly gait; light brown eyes, slightly cocked nose, rather sallow complexion, large bold full face, stout square make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age, fairish bar; wore a brown tweod cap with peak and earflaps tied at top, coarse brown tweed sack coat and trowsers, dark vest; is. a labourer and deserter from army ; frequents Kil- kenny and Waterford. Warrant issued for his arreBt. Carrick- on- Suir, 24th Oct., 1891. ( 12262 c— 94576.) Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany anl Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, bine eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issued for arrest of No, 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891. ( 11494 a— 93169.) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweed coat, dark trousers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm ; is a tramp, ^ Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown bat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN ( larceny), Hae- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 11148 c.— 92603) Tyrone. Description of MARK DEERY ( mother's surname Devlin), native of Feebane West, who stands charged with having, on the 6th January, 1892, at Gortin, in the barony of Strabane Upper, parish of Badoney Lower, seriously assaulted bis une'e, Fras. Deery, by striking him several times on the head with a stick:— Speaks through his nose, shaves all his face except small fair moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair h » ir: wore a soft felt hat, dark frieze coat, gray trowsers, and white sleeved vest; is a farmer's son. Description of ANDREW M'CREA., native of Killowen, who stands charged wityi having, on the 9th October, 1891, in the barony of Omagh W parish of Long field West, fired , a shot at M'Menamin:— Shaved ell his face recently ex moustache, which is sandy: brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7£ incnes high, about 28 years of age, sandy hair; is a Labourer. Warrant for arrest in the hands of Sergeant Mulcahy at Drumquin. Newtownstewart, 14th Oct., 1891. 12193 c.— 94309. Waterford. Walks with a slight stoop and swaggering gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full f ace, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, fair hair; wore a light tweed cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a servant boy. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS BURNS, o. 128, convicted at the Recorder's Court, Belfast, county Antrim, on 17th February, 1887, for break- ing and entering, and larceny, and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is an iron turner, born at Falls road, Belfast, resided at Belfast before conviction; has friends residing at Divis- street, Bel- fast:— Fair hair, gray eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5| inches high, scar on forehead, right knee, and le't breast, two dots between left thumb and finger, lost several UDper teeth. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison on 28th April, 1891, and went to Belfast. He left his residence on tho 16th ult. without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown.
