TIOHTB, tflf All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted, ' All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in tho delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thin information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition ot Gaols, Stations, dcc,, and of any oircumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim. Description of JAMES IRWIN, native of Clough, who stands charged with having, on the 20th Novem- ber, 1891, in the barony of Lower Glenarm, parish of Layde, stolen three heifers, the property of Rose Mooney and Francis M'Auley:— Wants a tooth in left side upper jaw, walks stiff as if feet sore, turns out his toes; gray eyes, regu'ar nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a brown hard felt low hat, brown failed coat, corduroy trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Will endeavour to go to Scotland. Warrant in hands of District Inspector Carter, of Ballymena. Ballymena, 24th Nov., 1891. ( 12808 c.— 95570.) Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indeoency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 loot 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 16th April, 1891. Carlow, Description of PATRICK CUMMINS ( mother's surname Neill), native of Bagnalstown, who stands charged with havings on the 9th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Idrone East, parish of Dunleckney, seriously assaulted one Patrick Whelan, by stabbing him with a knife. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Carlow Quarter Sessions, on 22na inst., but failed to surrender to his recognizance :— Light cut mark over left eye and on right thumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair, hair grows thin on face, shaves seldom; wore a round black cap,. with peak, gray coat, trowsers, and vert. Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Bagnalstown. Bagnalstown, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 7451 c— 94556.) MICHAEL TIMMINS ( sarious assanlt), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c_ 88166.) Cork. Description of DENIS CARTHY and JOHN PENDER alias BALLYCOTTON," natives of Tallow, county Waterford, who stand charged with having, on the night of 13th or morning of 14th instant, in the barony of Kinnattalloon, parish of Mogeely, stolen six sheep, the property of Thomas Tobin, of Lackenboha, and sold them at the last Midleton fair ( 14th instant), for £ 9 12s. 1. Left arm appears weak; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark coat, gray trowsars, and vest; wears all bis beard, which is of a dirty brown colour. Has the appearance of a small farmer. He was in America, and was convicted some time ago of cattle stealing. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin freckled face, slight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 30 years of age; shaves all the face except moustache, which is sandy; low sized and stout; was in the army some time. Description of KATTIE CRIMPTON, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of November, 1891, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of St. Mary's, Youghal, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch, with fiowers engraved on outside, No. 110,594, and gold chain, with two gold lockets attached, the chain was broken at the catch, and tied with thread, all value £ 3; also three halt sovereigns and 13s. in silver, taken from the house of one J. Evans:— Mark of sore on back of one hand ; gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a black hat and feathers, plain black dress, with rows of braid, blue jacket, nappad, with two side pockets ; speaks with a Dublin accent; very fond of speaking about clergymen, and says stie has brothers priests, and sisters nuns. Warrant issued for her arrest. Yonghal, 30th Nov., 1891. ( 1290S c.— 95762.) Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Berrymore, parish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 8*. 3d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £?, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in npper jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair moustache and hair; wore a hard low hat. dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a sergeant 1 at Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform abont 9.30 p. m., and Queenstown by 11 p. m. train, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Queenstown, 3rd Oct., 1891. Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 9775 a— 90171.) Down. Description of SAMUEL SCOTT, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 12th day of November, 1891, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, upper half, parish of Moira, robbed one George Bar- racks :— Gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 39years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, black coat, brown tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a tramp. He is at present in Belfast Gaol, having been committed for trial at Winter Assizes, but may have committed offences elsewhere. Banbridge, 15th Nov., 1891. ( 12606 95230.) Dublin. Description of WILLIAM THOMPSON, native of Gilford, county Down, who stands clflarged with having, on the 29th November, 1891, in the barony of Rathdown, parish of Taney, escaped from Dundrum Central Criminal Lunatic Asylum, where he had been confined as a criminal for murder:— Cut mark on back of head, scar on right breast, northern accent; gray eyes, medium nose, sallow complexion, round fsce, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age, light brown hair; wore a black turban smoking cap, asylum uniform, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; coat has scarlet collar and scarlet stripe down back, and other red stripes, trowsers has also red stripes; is a shopkeeper, em- ployed as baker in asylum. Description of KATE KEARNS, native of county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1891, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, wilfully and unlawfullyabandoned, and exposed her male infant child, a fortnight old, whereby its life was endangered:— Slightly pockpitted, black eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, stout make, 5 feet S or 4 inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair; wore a black shawl and an old white calico dress, flounced and puckered behind, wore no boots nor shoes; is a domestic servant. Information sworn and Warrant issued, and is in the hands of District Inspector at Galway. Galway, 2nd Nov., 1891. JAMES BALLANCE ( stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 11th August, has not been arrested. ( 9902 o.— 90393.) Kilkenny. Description of a woman, unknown ( supposed to be ANASTASIA M'DONNELL), native place un- kr own, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of November, 1891, in the city of Kilkenny, parish of St. Mary's, forged a cheque for £ 50, which she tendered in payment for shop goods:— Has the appearance of a country woman, slow manner of speaking; fresh complexion, soft round face, stout make, about 5 feet high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a dark brown or black shawl, brown plush jacket, black dress, no head dress. Kilkenny, 24th Nov., 1891. ( 12793 C 95541.) JOHN or MICHAEL LAWLOR ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry, 6th Oct, not arrested. ( 11545 c 93243.) King's. Description of the undernamed young offender, who. on the 9th December, 1811, at 2.30 P. M., absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310, 19 years of age. about 5 feet 8 inches high, stont make and awkward, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, gray eyes, broad nose, medium mouth, round visage ; small finger off left hand; formerly belonged to Kil- rush ; his mother, Catherine Crowley, resides at Cross- field, near Ennis. Will tramp the country ; most likely going towards county Clare. The school dress consists of moleskin trowsers, corduroy vest, dark gray tweed tunic, black cloth Glengarry cap, and Blucher boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who nay capture him with £ 1. 10th December, 1891. ( 44 H. O.) JOHN BURKE, ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 10080 c.~ 90906.) Limerick. Description of JOHN GRIMLEY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1891, in the barony of Borough of Limerick, parish of St. John's, stolen a coat and trowsers and a mm of about twenty- five or twenty- six shillings, the nroperty of gunner John Johnston, Royal Artillery: Cicatrix inner side of left knee and leg, tattoo marks on back and front of both forearms; gray eyes, fresh complexion, 5 feet 8£ inches high, about 21 years of age, dark brown hair. This man deserted from the 69th Field Battery, Royal Artillery, at Limerick, on the 4th of October, 1891, and may be weariog the clothes which he stole, which are of the following description, dark tweed coat and irowsers. Warrant in " hands of District Inspector at Limerick. Limerick, 24th Oct,, 1891. ( 12273 c— 94592.) WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder) Hue- and- Cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. Monaghan, Description of PATRICK SHERRY, alias PATRICK DUFFY, native of Donaghmoyne, county Monaghan, who stands- charged with having, « n the 7th of December, 1891, in the bar « ny of Trough, parish of Donagh, . committed a rape on Anne Elizabeth Clarke, and subsequsntly escaped from the Police when under arrest:— A fresh cut on foiehead which he received in the struggle with the Police | brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, red hair, short red moustache, rest of face shaven; wore a black hat, old tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued for his arrest Monaghan, 13th Dec,, 1891. ( 13094 c.— 96101.) Queen's. Description of JOHN PURCELL, native of Mona- mondra, Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1891, at Ballycleary, in the barony of Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen the sum of 10*. from his master:— Light brown eyes, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, thin sandy beard, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, dark morning coat, and barracan trowsers, no vest; is a tramping labourer. A Warrant is in hands of Police at Castletown for this man's arrest. Mountrath, 25th Oct., 1891. ( 12274 c.— 94593. Roscommon. JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. ( 9247 c.— 89331.) Sligo. Description of ROBERT SLEATOR ( mother's surname Foster), native of Behey. who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of October, 1891, in the barony of Tirerrill, parish of Ballysodare, stolen an iron gate, value £ 3, the property of John Coleman, Collooney:— Small fair moustache, gray or blue eyes, slightly hooked note, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, sometimes wears an overcoat, Newmarket make; is a farmer's son; served in the R. I. C. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Riverstown Petty Sessions oa 28th ult., but failed to surrender to his recognizances. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Collooney. Collooney, 1st Nov., 1891. ( 12278 c.— 94846.) Tipperary. Descriptions of PATRICK DAVERN, native of Bohernagibbons, and MICHAEL M'INERNEY ( mother's surname Duggan), native of Tipperary, who stand charged with having, on the 9th of November, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tip- perary, seriously assaulted John Rielly, of Garryshane, by striking him with a stone on the head, from the effects of which he died on 20th November, 1891:— 1. Gocd- lcoking, active appearance, walks with a short step, gray eyes, rad nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer. Is a returned American, and may try to emigrate. Warrant issued, in Lands of District Inspector, Tipperary. 2. Round high shoulders, short neck awkward gait, large high mouth, generally keeps his hands in his trowsers pockets; very larga blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexioa, freckled face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap. brown tweed sack coat, brown tweed trowsers, and tweed vest; is a feather plucker and labourer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of District Inspector, Tipperary. Tipperary, 23rd Nov., 1891. ( 12743 o— 95465.) Description of WILLIAM BRADSHAW and DENIS BRADSHAW, brothers ( mother's surname Kearney), natives of Glengar, who stand charged with having, on the 16th day of November, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seri- ously assaulted one Denis Brennan, at the fair of Cappawhite, by striking him on the head with sticks and wounding him :— 1. Gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, rather thin face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 or 27 years of age, fair hair, speaks sharp and quick ; wore a bright tweed cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. 2. Gray eyes, regular noss, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 fert 7 or 8 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrants issued for their arrest. Dundrum, 25th Nov., 1891. ( 12810 c.— 95572.) Description of JAMES BRIEN, alias BRIEN THE RAKE ( mother's surname Power), native of Tip- perary, S. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd Octo^ r, 1891, in the barony of Slievardagh, parish of Newtown, stolen the sum of £ 18 from his employer, James Whelan, of Oldcastle:— Walks with a heavy slovenly gait; light brown eyes, slightly cooked nose, rather sallow complexion, large bold full face, stout square make, 5 feat 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age, fairish ha r; wore a brown tweed cap with peak and earflaps tied at top, coarse brown tweed sack coat and trowsers, dark vest; is a labourer and deserter from army; frequents Kil- kenny and Waterford. Warrant issued for his arrest. Carrick- on- Suir, 24th Oct., 1891. ( 12262 94576.) Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty:— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut cn forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round faee, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin* face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about< 5 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Ougbterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN ( larceny), Hae- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 11148 c.— 92603) Tyrone, Description of ANDREW M'CREA, native of Killowen, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1891, ia the barony of Omagh West, parish of Longfield West, fired a shot at John M'Menamin:— Shaved all his face recently except moustache, which ia sandy; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet incnes high, about 28 years of age, sandy hair; is a Labourer. Warrant for arrest ia the hands of Sergeant Mulcahy at Drumquin. Newtownstewart, 14th Oct., 1891. 12193 94309. Waterford. Description of THOMAS CASHEL ( mother's surname Foley), native of Cappoquin, who stands charged with having, on or about the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, parish of Lismore, stolen a letter containing a postal order for 15 « . :— Walks with a slight stoop and swaggering gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches higb, about 18 years of age, fair hair; wore a light tweed cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a servant boy. It is probable he may have enlisted. Warrant has been issued for his arrest io hands of District Inspeck r Cappoqnin. Cappoquin, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 12255 c.— 94555.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who. on the 23rd November, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree:—. JOHN FITZPATRICK, 2252, about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 5 feet 3 inches high, ordinary make, fair complexion, brown hair, haz3l eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage, small cut- mark on top of head; formerly belonged to 24, Upper Mercer- street, Dublin ; his parents reside at Goss's, 14, Aungier- street, Dublin. The school dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, corduroy trowsers, moleskin vest, elastio belt, and strong nailed boots, No. 2252. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 25th November, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 23rd November, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree :— JAMES M'SHEA, 2408, about 16 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, ordinary make, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; cut- mark on forehead ; formerly belonged to 2 or 3, Clarendon- row, Dublin; parents reside at 4, Lower Mercer- street, Dublin. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin vest, corduroy trowsers, elastic belt, strong nailed boots, No. 2408. M'Shane is the boy's real name, his brother- in- law, Joseph Walsh ( window blind maker), resides at 3, Lower Kevin- street, and his aunt, Mrs. Rafferty, who works at Jacob's, resides in Bride- street, Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 25th November, 1891. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of-— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin vest, corduroy trjwsers, belt, 2334, strong nailed toots, No. 2384. The Manager o( the Rerormatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the neirest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 25th November, 1891. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS BURNS, C. 128, convicted at the Recorder's Court, Belfast, county Antrim, on 17th February, 1887, for break- ing and entering, and larceny, and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is- an iron turner, born at Falls- road, Belfast, resided at Belfast before conviction,; has friends residing at Divis- street, Bel- fast :— Fair hair, gray eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium moutb, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet inches high, scar on forehead, right knee, and left breast, two dots betsten left thumb and finger, lost several upper teeth. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison on 28th April, 1891, und went to Belfast. He le't his residence on tha 16th ult. without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. ROYAl IRISH CONSTABULARY^ Tipperary, Dsscription of a revolver, property of Earl de Montalt which was stolen from the dwelling- house occupied by his caretaker, John Roche, at Monroe, parish of Clonoulty, and barony of Lower Kilna- macagh, on Sunday, 27th September, 1891:— A five- chambered revolver, loaded in three chambers, tho words " British Bulldog" and " Hawarden," in small letters, engraved on barrel, about 6£ inches long, b'uish colour, old and rusty, the barrell thick, about inches long, round on outside, four grooves on inside, a strap of metal running back from the barrell along the stock and continuing up to the trigger- guard, dark wooden stock; value for XI. 4th October, 1891. Description' of plate, the property of Ardnurcher Parish, which was stolen from the Protestant Church at Horseleap, parish of Ardnurcher, barony of Moy- cashel, on the 28th or 29th day of August, 1891, probably by tinkers:— One large flagon, supposed silver, broad at bottom, tapering to top, side straight, had a lid, handle, and spout, ro inscription; one chalice, gold lined, no inscription, goblet- shaped, similar to a large wine- glass, supposed silver, bnt may be plated; one paten, supposed silver, may be plated, has a raised bottom of about two inches, size of a breakfast plate, inscribed " Ardnurchor Church"; one alms- dish, v ry small, silver, quite flat, with a rim, inscribed " Horse leap Church, 1806.
