All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can bo inserted unless an Information shall have been Swovn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. < Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will bo inserted, ( All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. •„* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Polico Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to Inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of tho abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c,, and of any ciroumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary, ' DUBLIN, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1891. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of WILLIAM JOHN SCOTT, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th September, 1891, at Portrush, in the barony of Lower Dunluce, parish of Ballywillin, when nnder arrest for larceny of clothing, assaulted Constable William Buchanan, and escaped from custody:— Dark brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin facs, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a faded gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp, sings in towns, and served in the militia. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown • yes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofula marks on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Cli/ ton- street, Belfast, where he was born; his parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; his uncle, George Bell, Farmer, lives at Ballykeel, Dromore, county Down. 1 Dressed when he absconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, d woollen stockings. The Manager of the Beformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 17th September, 1891. ( 425 H. O.) ANDREW GRAHAM ( young offender;, Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast. Description of EDWABD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, reguler nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet lOfaches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overooat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in bands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. Description of PATRICK CUMMINS ( mother's surname Neill), native of Bagnalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Idrone East, parish of Dunleckney, seriously assaulted one Patrick Whelan, by stabbing him with a knife. This man was bailed to tike his trial for said offence at Carlow Quarter Sessions, on 22nd inst., but failed to surrender to his recognizance :— Light cut mark over left eye and on right thumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair, hair grows thin on face, shaves seldom; wore a round black cap, with peak, gray coat, trowsers, and vejt. Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Bagnalstown. Bagnalstown, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 7451 c.— 94556.) MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c— 88166.) Cork. Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with laving, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 fit 9d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £ 8, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in uppar jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair moustache and hair; wore a hard low hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a sergeant 1st Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform about 9.30 p. m., and Qaeanstown by 11 p. m. train, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Queenstown, 3rd Oct., 1891. TIMOTHY DRISCOLL ( house attack), Hue- and- Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 9775 c,— 90171.) Down. Description of SAMUEL SCOTT, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 12th day of November, 1891, in the barony of Lower Iveagh, upper half, parish of Moira, robbed one George Bar- racks :— Gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 39 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, black coat, brown tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a tramp. He is at present in Belfast Gaol, having been committed for trial at Winter Assizes, but may have committed offences elsewhere. Banbridge, 15th Nov., 1891. ( 12606 c.— 95230.) Galway. v Description of KATE KEARNS, native of county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1891. in the barony of Galway parish of St. Nicholas, wilfully and unlawfully abandonedf and exposed her male infant child, a fortnight old, whereby its life was endangered:— Slightly pockpitted, black eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, stout make, 5 feet S or 4 inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair; wore a black shawl and an old white calico dress, flounced and puckered behind, wore no boots nor shoes; is a domestic servant. Information sworn and Warrant issued, and is in the hands of District Inspector at Galway. Galway, 2nd Nov., 1891. ( 12424 c.— 94884) Description of MICHAEL JOYCE { mother's sur- name Cribbin), native of Montrerown ( Middle), who stands charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1891, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, presented a revolver at and threatened to shoot one Arthur Joyce, of Cullaghmore:— Consumptive appearanee, pretty good address, has been in England and Scotland, dark'brown piercing eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abont 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard black felt hat, light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, brown canvas leggings; is a herd's son. Description cf JOHN GRIMLEY, native place unknown, who stands charged with . having, on the 4th October, 1891, in the barony of Borough of Limerick, parish of St. John's, stolen a crat and trowsers and a sum of about twenty- five or twenty- six shillings, the property of gunner John Johnston, Royal Artillery:— Cicatrix inner side of left knee and lep, tattoo marks on back and front of both forearms; gray eyes, fresh complexion, 5 feet inch « s high, about 21 years cf age, dark brown hair. This man dererted from the 69th Field Battery, Royal Artillery, at Limerick, on the 4th of October, 1891, and may be wearing the clothes which he stole, which are of the following description, dark tweed coat and irowsers. Mayo, Description of two boys named CAWLEY ( mother's surname Mary Ward), supposed natives of Flphin, county Roscommon, who stand charged with having, on the night of fth or morning of 7th ultimo in the barony of Costello, parish of Armagh, stolen an 8s » , the property of Edward Prendergast, of Carrickmacin- tyre ( ass described in Hue- and- Cry of 20th October, 1891) n- 1. Dark eyes, short cocked nose, fresh complexion, round fare, stout make, 5 feet high, about 15 years cf vage, light brown hair; wore a cordaroy jacket and trowsers. 2. Dark eyes, short cocked nise, fresh complexion, thin face, stout moke, 4 feet 8 inches high, abrut 12 years of age, light brown hair; wore a corduroy jacket and trows Both are sons of a tinker named Tim Cawley, and will probably be found in company with ctber tinkers. Description of JOHN PURCELL, native of Mona- mondra, Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1891, at Ballycleary, in the barony cf Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen the run of 10*. from his masterLight brown eye3, booked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 jeers of age, thin sandy beard, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, dark morring coat, and barracan trowsers, no vest; is a tramping labourer. Description of ROBERT SLEATOR ( matter's surname Foster), native of Behey. who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of 0 tober, 1891, in the barcny of Tirerrill, parish of Ballysodare, stolen an iron gate, value £ 3, the property of John Coleman, Collconey:— Small fair moustache, gray or blue eyes, slightly hooked note, fair complexion, thn face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, sometimes wears an overcoat, Newmarket make; is a farmer's son; served in the R. I. C. This man wes bailed to take his trial for said cffence at Riverstown Petty Sessions on 28th ult., but failed to surrender to his recognizances. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Colloonay. Collooney, 1st Nov., 189!. ( 12278 c.— 94846.) Tipperary. Description of JAMES BRIEN, alias BRIEN THE RAKE ( mother's surname Power), native of Tip- perary, S. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd October, 1891, in the barony of Slievardagh, parish of Newtown, stolen the sum of JE18 from his employer, James Whelan, of Oldcastle:— Walks with a heavy slovenly gait; light brown eyes, slightly cooked nose, rather sallow complexion, large bold full face, stout square make, 5 feat 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age, fairish har; wore a brown tweed cap with peak and earfl ips tied at top, coarse brown tweed sack coat and trowsers, dark vest; is a labourer and deserter from army ; freqnents Kil- kenny and Waterford. Description of MICHAEL CONNOLLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th October, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Aghnameadle, indecently assaulted Annie Quinlisk, aged 14 :— Regular nose, fair, inclined to red, complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feat 6 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age; wore a gray coat, gray trow- ers, and black peaked cap, flat crown; is a farm servant and discharged soldier. Sometimes goes on tramp around borders of North Tipperary and King's County. Warrant in posses- sion of Sergeant Kelly, Toomevara. Nenagh 15th October, 1891. ( 12200 c.— 94331.) Description of EUGENE MOORE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa Fast, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a blue waterproof overcoat, the property of Mr. John Hurley, carrick- on- Suir, which has since been recovered :— Mark of recent cut on bridge of nose, light gray eyes, short thick nose, dark sallow complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about S7 or 38 ^ ears of age, dark brown hair; is a horse trainer. Warrant in hands of D. I., Clonmel. Clonmel, 28th Sept., 1891. ( 11888 c.— 93817.) Description of MICHAEL CONNELL ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Knockshanbrittas, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Upper, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Rodger Ryan, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger;— Marks of sore on left cheek, hardy active appearance, nose sharp, pointed, and turned to one side, narrow mouth with cocked lips, high cheek bones, gray eyes, long thin nose, lresb complexion, shaves all his face except moustache, which is clipped short, d irk hair, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age; wore a frieze frock coat, tweed trowsers end vest; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nosa, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost IQ the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Bound shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round faee, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about SO years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issued for arrest of No. 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891. ( 11494 c,— 93169.) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweod coat, dark trowsors, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for Lis arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Description of ANDREW M'CREA, native of Killowen, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1891, in the barony of Omagh West, parish of Longfield West, fired a shot at John M'Menamin:— Shaved all his face recently except moustache, which is sandy: brown eyes, regular no< e, fresh complexion, round full faoe, stout make, 5 feet 7£ incnes high, about 28 years of age, sandy hair; is a Labourer. Warrant for arrest in the handi of Sergeant Mulcahy at Drumquin. Newtownstewart, 14th October, 1891. 12193 94309. Waterford. Description of THOMAS CASHEL ( mother's surname Foley), native of Cappoquin, who stands charged with having, on or about the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Coshmore and Cothbride, parish of Lismore, stolen a lettor curtaining a postal order for 15 « . :— Walks with a sl'ght stoop and swaggering gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexiar, full face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years cf age, fair hair; were a light tweed cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a servant boy. It is probable he may have enlisted. Warrant has been is'ued for his arrest in hands of District Inspector, Cappoquin. Cappoquin, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 12255 c.— 94555.) Wicklow. Description of MICHAEL STACHAM ( mother's surname Byrne), and JAMES HATES ( mother's surname Waters), natives of Seven Churches, county Wicklow, who stand charged with having, on the night of 5th or morning of 6th August, 1891, in the barony of Ballinacor North, parish of Derrylossary, and county Wicklow, stolen two scythes, the property of John Richardson and Richard Johnston, both of Laragh East:— 1. Blue eyes, regular nose, rntber P^ le complexion, round face, stout make, shaves all his face which is very small, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown bair; wore a dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. 2. Blue eyes, long thtn nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, shaves his face except moustache, which is very small and light colour. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age; wore a dark serge sack coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. ( 414 H. a) OWEN REILLY ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 414 u. c.) JOHN NOLAN ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested, ( 414 H. C.) i << TEE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 17, 1891. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. 6 Division. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS BURNS, O. 128, convicted at the Recorder's Court, Belfast, county Antrim, on 17th February, 1837, for break- ing and entering, and larceny, and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is an iron turner, born at Falls- road, Belfast, resided at Belfast before conviction; has friends residing at Divis- street, Bel- fast :— Fair hair, gray eyes, ( air eyebrows, broad nose, medium month, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5J inches ligh, scar on forehead, right knee, and le't breast, two dots between left thumb and finger, lost several uoper teeth. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison on 28th April, 1891, snd went to Belfast. He left his residence on the 16th nit. without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dsalt with nnder sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 5th November, 1891. ( 437 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JOHN O'BRIEN, c. 166, convicted at the Dublin Commission on 3rd August, 1887, for larceny, and sontenced to 5 years; 61 years of rge on conviction, married, is a paintfr, born in Dublin, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Gray hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, medium nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet €£ inches high; lost three upper front teeth, sore mark on left abiD, swelling vein in call of right leg. This man vyas released from Maryboro' Prison, 9th July, 1891, on licence. He left his resiience, 20, North Cumberland- street, Dublin, without report- ing same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with nnder the 5th section. of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 432 H. War ted, for theft of a watch and a vest ( recovered); also n silver Albert chair, round links ( not recovered), on 21st current :— HUGH ANDREWS, a painter to trade, but wording as a labourer, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, reddish fair hair, sandy moustache, and small side whiskers ; dressed in yellow striped trowsers, blue clcth vest, heather mixture cloth jacket, light single peaked cap, and old lacing boots. His wife is said to reside in South Side, Glasgow, and be is said to have been a member of a Good Templar Lodge in that district. Description of a revolver, property of Earl de Montalt which was stolen from the dwelling- house occupied by his caretaker, John Roche, at Monroe, parish of Clonoulty, and barony of Lower Kilna- managh, on Sunday, 27th September, 1891:— A five- chambered revolver, loaded in three chambers, the words „ British Bulldog " and " Hawarden," in small letters, engraved on barrel, about 6£ inches long, blnish colour, old and rusty, the barrell thick, abont 3J inches long, rcund on outside, four grooves on inside, a strap of metal running baok from the barrell along the stock and continning np to the trigger- guard, dark wooden stock; value for £ 1. 4th October, 1891. Description of plate, the property of Ardnurcher Parish, which was stolen from the Protestant Church at Horseleap, parish of Ardnurcher, barony of Moy- cashel, on the 28th or 29th day of August, 1891, probably by tinkers:— One large flagon, supposed silver, broad at bottom, tapering to top, side straight, had a lid, handle, and spout, no inscription; one chalice, gold lined, no inscription, goblet- shaped, similar to a large wine- glass, supposed silver, but may be plated; one paten, supposed silver, may be plated, has a raised bottom of about two inches, size of a breakfast plate, inscribed" Ardnurchor Church "; cne alms- dish, very small, silver, qoite flat, with a rim, inscribed " horse leap Church, 1806.
