Description of WILLIAM JOHN SCOTT, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th September, 1891, at Portrush, in the barony of Lower Dunluce, parish of Ballywillin, when under arrest for larceny of clothing, assaulted Constable William Buchanan, and escaped from custody:— Dark brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a faded gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp, sings in towns, and served in the militia. Warrant issued. Ballymoney, 2nd Oct., 1891. ( H951 93930. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofula marks on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Clifton- street, Belfast, where he was born; his parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; his uncle, George Bell, Fanner, lives at Ballykeel, Dromore, county Down. Dressed when he absconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who iB^ Skpturo him with £ 1. lYth September, 1891. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown bair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOT* Arrest cannot bo legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 18th April, 1891. Carlow, Description of PATRICK CUMMINS ( mother's surname Neill), native of Bagnalstown, who etands charged with having, on tbe 9th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Idrone East, parish of Dunleckney, seriously assaulted one Patrick Whelan, by stabbing bim with a knife. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Carlow Quarter Sessions, on 22nd inst., but fa'led to surrender to his recognizance :— Light cut mark over left eye and on right thumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 inches higb, about 26 years of age, fair hair, hair grows thin on face, shaves seldom; wore a round black cap, with peak, gray coat, trowsers, and vest. Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Bagnalstown. Bagnalstown, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 7451 c.— 94556.) Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 9d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £ fl, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in uppar jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair moustache and hair; wore a hard low hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a sergeant 1st Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform about 9.30 p. m., and Qoeenstown by 11 p. m. train, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Queenstown, 3rd Oct., 1891. TIMOTHY DRISCOLL ( house attack), Hue- and- Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 9775 o,— 90171.) Galway. Description of KATE KEARNS, native of county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1891. in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, wilfully and unlawfully abandoned and exposed her male infant child, a fortnight old, whereby its life was endangered:— Slightly pockpitted, black eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, stout make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 32 years of ape. black hair; wore a black shawl and an old white calico dress, flounced and puckered behind, wore no boots nor shoes; is a domestic servant. Information sworn and Warrant issued, and is in the hands of District Inspector at Galway. Galway, 2nd Nov., 1891. ( 12424 c.— 94884) Dercription of MICHAEL JOYCE ( mother's sur- name Cribbin), native of Montrerown ( Middle), who stands charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1891, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, presented a revolver at and threatened to shoot one Arthur Joyce, of Cullaghmore:—. Consumptive appearanoe, pretty good address, has been in England and Scotland, dark brown piercing eyes, regular nose, dark sallow cemplexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard black felt hat, light tweed coat, trows9rs, and vest, brown canvas leggings; is a herd's son. He eecaped from the Maam B. I. C. Barrack, on 28th October, 1891, after having been returned for trial on above charge. Oughterard, 30th Oit., 1891. ( 12370 c— 94763.) Description of MICHAEL CORCORAN, native of Kildare town, who stands charged with having, during the past two months in the barony of Clonmac- noon, parish of Kilclooney, wilfully neglected to main- tain his two children, in consequence whereof they have become chargeable, and are still chargeable to the rates of Ballinasloe Poor Law Union:— Hole on back of neck, with soar across therefrom about 1J inches long, tatooed marks ( probably figures of women) on both arms, blue eyes, ordinary nose, sjllow oom- plexioa, round face, stout make, 5 feet, 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, dark beard worn full; wore a brown hard hat, black short coat, corduroy trowsers, brown vest; spent 13 years in army, spent pait 4 years in Tullow, county Carlow, in the employ- ment of a Mr. Patrick Kelly; is a labourer. Description of JOHN MALONE, native of Black- church, wbo stands charged with having, on the 18th October, 1891, in the barony of South Salt, parish of Kilteel, stolen a bullock, the property of the Reverend Dr. Gowing, p. p., from the lands of Blackchurch ( the bulk ck has been recovered) :— gray eyes, small nose, slightly coded, fresh complexion, small round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 32 jears of age, dark brown bair, slight sandy whiskers and moustache; wore a round hard hat, short dark coat, dark trowsers and test; is a herd. Description of JOHN GRIMLEY, native place unknown, who stands charged with baving, on the 4th October, 1891, in the barony of Borough of Limerick, parish of St. John's, stolen a ccat and trowsers and a sum of about twenty- five or twenty- six shillings, the property of gunner John Johnston, Royal Artillery:— Cicatrix inner side of left knee and leg, tattoo marks on back and front of both forearms; gray eyes, fresh complexion, 5 feet 8£ inches high, about 21 years of ape, dark brown bair. Tbis man deserted from the 69th Field Battery, Royal Artillery, at Limerick, on tie 4th of October, 1891, and may be wearing the clothes which he stole, which are of tbe following description, dark tweed coat and irowsers. Description of two men named CAWLEY ( mother's surname Mary Ward), supposed natives of Flphin, county Roscommon, who stand charged with having, on the night of fth or morning cf 7th ultimo in the barony of Costello, parish of Armagh, stolen an ass, the property of Edward Prendergast, of Carrickmacin- tyre ( ass described in Hue- and- Cry of 20th October, 1891) :— 1. Dark ejes, short cccked n- se, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet high, about 15 years of age, liglt brown hair; wore a corduroy jacket and trowsers. 2. Dark eyes, short cocked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, stout make, 4 feet 8 inches high, about 12 years of ape, light brown hair; wore a corduroy jacket and trows3TB. Both are sons of a tinker named Tim Cawley, and will probably be found in company with other tinkers. Informations sworn and Warrant at Claremorris. Claremorris, 2nd Nov., 1891. ( 12191 cT— 94845.) Description of JOHN PURCELL, native of Mona- mondra, Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1891, at Ballycleary, in tie barony cf Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen tie rum of 10 » . from his master:— Light brown eyes, booked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium nrake, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 36 years of age, thin sandy beard, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, dark morning coat, and barracan trowsers, no vest; is a tramping labourer. A Warrant is in hands of Police at Castletown for this man's arrest. Mountrath, 25th Oct., 1891. ( 15274 c.— 94593.) Roscommon. JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hne- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. Description of ROBERT SLEATOR ( mother's surname Foster), native of Behey. who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of October, 1891, in tbe barony of Tirerrill, parish of Ballysodare, stolen an iron gate, value £ 3, the property of John Coleman, Collooney -.— Small fair moustache, gray or blue eyes, slightly hooked nose, fair complexion, th'n face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, sometimes wears an overcoat, Newmarket make; is a farmer's son; served in the R. I. C. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Riverstown Petty Sessions on 28th ult., but failed to surrender to his recognizances. Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Collooney. Collooney, 1st Nov., 1891. ( 12278 c.^- 94846.) Tipperary. Description of JAMES BRIEN, alias BRIEN THE RAKE ( mother's surname Power), native of Tip- perary, S. R., who stands charged with having, on the 22nd October, 1891, in the barony of Slievardagh, parish of Newtown, stolen the sum of £ 18 from his employer, James Whelan, of Oldcastle:— Walks with a heavy slovenly gait; light brown eyes, slightly cooked nose, rather sallow complexion, large bold full face, stout square make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of 8ge, fairish ha r; wore a brown tweed cap with peak and ear flips tied at top, coarse brown tweed sack coat and trowsers, dark vest; is a labourer and deserter from army ; freqnents Kil- kenny and Waterford. Description of MICHAEL CONNOLLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th October, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Aghnameadle, indecently assaulted Annie Quinlisk, aged 14 :— Regular nose, fair, inclined to red, complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feat 6 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age; wore a gray coat, gray trawlers, and black peaked cap, fl* t crown; is a farm servant and discharged soldier. Sometimes goes on traaop around borders of North Tipperary and King's County. Warrant in posses- sion of Sergeant Kelly, Toomevara. Nenagh 15th October, 1891. ( 12200 c.— 94381.) Description of EUGENE MOORE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tbe 17th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a blue waterproof overcoat, the property of Mr. John Hurley, Carrick- on- Suir, which has since been recovered:— Mark of recent cut on bridge of nose, light gray eyes, oho. t thick noes, dark sallow complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 87 or 38 years of age, dark brown bair; is a horse trainer. Warrant in hands of D. I., Clonmel. Clonmel, 28th Sept., 1891. ( 11888 93317.) Description of MICHAEL CONNELL ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Knockshanbrittas, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Upper, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Rodger Ryan, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger;— Marks of sore en left cheek, hardy active appearance, nose sharp, pointed, and . turned to one side, narrow mouth with cocked lips, high cheiek bones, gray eyes, long thin nose, tresh complexion, shaves all his face except moustache, which is clipped short, dirk hair, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age; wore a frieze frock coat, tweed trowsers and vost; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regulw nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black bat, lost ia the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cut on. eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years ot age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issued for arrest of No. 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891. ( 11494 c.— 93169.) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in tbe barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody: Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweed ooat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, eoat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about tbe 4th June 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Ougbterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. ( 11148 c— 92603) Tyrone, Description of ANDREW M'CREA, native of Killowen, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1891, in the barony of Omagh West, parish of Longfield West, fired a shot at John M'Menamin:— Shaved all his face recently except moustache, which is sandy; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion round full fwe, stout make, 5 feet incnes ligh, about 28 years of age, sandy hair; is a Labourer. Warrant for arrest in the hands of Sergeant Mulcahy at Drumquin. Newtownstewart 14th OctoW, 1891. 12193 94309. Waterford. Description of THOMAS CASHEL ( mother's surname Foley), native of Cappoquin, who stands charged with having, on or about the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, parish of Lismore, stolen a letter containing a postal order for 15*. :— Walks with a slight stoop and swaggering gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, fair hair; wore a light tweed cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a servant boy. It is probable he may have enlisted. Warrant has been is « ued for his arrest in hands of District Inspector, Cappoquin. Cappoquin, 2Srd Oct., 1891. ( 12255 c.— 94555.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 6th November, 1891, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, Ennie- kerry:— ERNEST EASTWOOD, 2415, about 16 years of age, about 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, ordinary make, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, regular nose, slightly prominent mouth, oval visage, formerly belonged to England, and speaks with a decidedly English accent; dot, E, star, cross, and anchor, on left arm ; his parents are dead. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, corduroy trowsers, moleskin vest, elastio belt, and strong nailed boots, No. 2415. The boy is vary good- looking, is fairly well edu- cated, and most polite and obliging in his manners. He wears a truss, having met with an accident result- ing in a rupture some time before his admission to the school in March, 1890. He spent about three years at sea as cabin boy. The Manager ot the Reformatory will defray the expense of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 9th November, 1891. Description of MICHAEL STACHAM ( mother's surname Byrne), and JAMES HAYES ( mother's surname Waters), natives of Seven Churches, county Wicklow, wbo stand charged wjth having, on the night of 5th or maraing of 6th August, 1891, in the barony of Ballinacor North, parish of Derrylossary, and county Wicklow, stolen two scythes, the property of John Richardson and Richard Johnston, both of Laragh East:— 1. Blue eyes, regular nose, rather pale complexion, round face, stout make, shaves all his face which is very small, 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 years ot age, dark brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. 2. Blue eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, shaves his face except moustache, which is very small and light colour. 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age; wore a dark serge sack coat, light tweed t^ JJ^ rs- and vest. Young offenders, PATRICK MAY, MICHAEL KELLY, PATRICK CONDRON, and WILLIAM FLOOD, described in issue of 6th October, have not been arrested. ( 414 n. c.) JOHN NOLAN ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 8th September, not arrested. ( 414 H. O.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS BURNS, c. 128, convicted at the Recorder's Court, Belfast, county Antrim, on 17th February, 1887, for break- ing and entering, and larceny, and previous conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 28 yasra of age on conviction, single, is an iron turner, bora at Falls- road, Belfast, raided at Belfast before conviction; has friends residing at Divis- street, Bel- fast j— Fair hair, gray eyep, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5| inches high, scar on forebrad, rigbt knee, and left breast, two dots between left thumb aod finger, lost several upper teeth. This man was released cn licence from Mountjoy Prison on 28th April, 1891, and went to Belfast. He left bis residence on the 16th ult. without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he shonld be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 5th November, 1891. ( 4 37 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JOHN O'BRIEN" c. 166, convicted at the Dublin Commission on 3rd Angust, 1887, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years; 61 years of sge on conviction, married, is a painter,' born in Dublin, where he resided before conviction, and where Lis friends reside:— Gray hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, medium cose, small mouth, ir sh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inches high; lost three upper front teeth, sore mark on left shin, swelling vein in calf of right leg. This man was releasod from Maryboro' Prison, 9th July, 1891, on licence. He left bis residence, 20, North Cumberland- street, Dublin, without report- ing same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 432 H. C.) His wife is said to reside in South Side, Glasgow, and be is said to have been a member of a Good Templar Lodge in that district. Description of a bullock, the property of Edward Martin, which was stolen or strayed from the fair of Croghan, on 28th October, 1891, parish of Killukin, barony of Boyle, viz.:— A yesrs old bullock, deep yellow colour, some gray bairs on front of lead, pretty thick horns growing straight out from bead at roots, at ends rounded inwards and sligltly downwards; in fair condition, and vtlue for £ 13 ; not branded. Description of a revolver, property of Earl de Montalt which was stolen from the dwelling- house occupied by Lis caretaker, John Roche, at Monroe, parish of Clonoulty, and barony of Lower Kilna- maoagh, on Sunday, 27th September, 1891:— A five- chambered revolver, loaded in three chambers, the words „ British Bulldog " and " Hawarden," in small letters, engraved on barrel, abont 6^ inches long, bluish colour, old and rusty, the barrell thick, about 3£ inches long, round on outside, four grooves on inside, a strap of meial running back from the barrell along the stock and continuing up to the trigger- guard, dark wooden stock; value for £ 1. 4th October, l891. Description of plate, the property of Ardnurcher Parish, which was stolen from the Protestant Church at Horseleap, parish of Ardnurcher, barony of Moy- cashel, on the 28th or 29th day of August, 1891, probably by tinkers:— One large flagon, supposed silver, broad et bottom, tapering to top, side straight, had a lid, bandlo, and spout, no inscription; one chalice, gold lined, no inscription, goblet- shaped, similar to a large wine- glass, supposed silver, but may be plated; one paten, supposed silver, may be plated, has a raised bottom of about two inches, size of a breakfast plate, inscribed" Ardnurcher Church "; one alms- dish, very small, silver, quite flat, with a rim, inscribed " Horse- leap Church, 1806. Entrance effeeted by breaking a hole through an 18 inch stone and lime wall into a furniture store, then roughly breaking a hole in flooring with a" jemmy" or crowbar. Articles of jewellery taken from a show case in sale room. The clothing stolen is likely 11 bo worn by the thieves as the following articles of old clothing were left behind:— Black felt hat, high crown, having name " D. and E. James, 23, Argyle- street, Glasgow," size f f, dark gray striped tweed jacket and vest, pair black cord trowsers, pair lacing boots, plain, well worn. An iron safe, 14 cwt. in weight, containing 3 cwt. cf jewellery and other property was removed to an adjoining room, and an unsuccessful attempt made to force it open, by drilling a hole with brace and bit.
