Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday, RBOTTZ.. • TIOSTI All Notice* intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn: but it is not necesmjw to forward the Information ® to the Inspector- General, ' Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been Issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of Mm nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. v Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle. of tha abolition of Gaols, Stations, Ac, and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. 4- DUBLIN, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1891. Antrim. Description of WILLIAM JOHN SCOTT, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th September, 18& 1, at Portrush, in the barony of Lower Dunluce, parish of Ballywillin, when nnder arrest for larceny of clothing, assaulted Constable William Buchanan, and escaped from custody :— Dark brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a faded gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp, sings in towns, and served in the militia. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, large month, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofnla marks on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Clifton- street, Belfast, where he was born; his parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; his uncle, George Bell, Fanner, lives at Ballykeel, Dromore, connty Down. Dressed when he absconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Beformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Jnsji. ce on remand, and will reward the person who mtfy ottpture him with J61. 17th September, 1891. ( 425 H. O.) ANDREW GRAHAM ( young offender,, Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast. Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coot, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. Description of PATRICK CUMMINS ( mother's surname Neill), native of Bagnalstown, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Idrone East, parish of Dunleckney, seriously assaulted one Patrick Whelan, by stabbing him with a knife. This man was bailed to take his trial for said offence at Carlow Quarter Sessions, on 22na inst., but failed to surrender to his recognizance :— Light cut mark over left eye and on right thumb, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout active make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair, hair grows thin on face, shaves seldom; wore a round black cap, with peak, gray coat, trowsers, and vest. Bench Warrant has been issned for his arrest, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Bagualstown. Bagnalstown, 23rd Oct., 1891. ( 7451 c.— 94556.) MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c— 88166.) Cork. Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Berrymore, perish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 3d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £?, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in upper jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round fnll face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair moustache and hair; wore a hard low hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a sergeant 1st Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform about 9.30 p. m., and Queenstown by 11 p. m. train, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Queenstown, 3rd Oct, 1891. TIMOTHY DRISCOLL ( house attack), Hue- and- Cry, 29th September, not arrested. ( 9775 a— 90171.) Galway. Description of KATE KEARNS, native of county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of November, 1891. in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, wilfully and unlawfully abandoned and exposed her male infant child, a fortnight old, whereby its life was endangered:— Slightly pock pitted, black eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 4 inches high, about 32 years of age, black hair; wore a black shawl sii< Jnnrold white calioo dress, flounced and puckered behind, wore no boots nor shoes; is a domestic servant. Detcription of MICHAEL JOYCE ( mother's sur- name Cribbin), native of Montrerown ( Middle), who stands charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1891, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, presented a revolver at and threatened to shoot one Arthur Joyce, of Cullaghmore:— Consumptive appearance, pretty good address, has been in England and Scotland, dark brown piercing eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abont 35' years of age, dark brown hair; wore a hard black felt hat, light tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, brown canvas leggings; is a herd's son. He escaped from the Maam R. I. C. Barrack, on 28th October, 1891, after having been returned for trial on above charge. Oughterard, 30th Ost, 1891. ( 12370 c.— 94763.) Description of MICHAEL CORCORAN, native of Kildare town, who stands charged with having, during the past two months in the barony of Clonmac- noon, parish of Kilclooney, wilfully neglected to main- tain his two children, in consequence whereof they havo become chargeable, and are still chargeable to the rates of Ballinasloe Poor Law Union:— Hole on back of neck, with scar across therefrom abont l£ inches long, tatooed marks ( probably figures of women) on both arms, blue eyes, ordinary nose, sallow oom- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet, 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, dark beard worn fall; wore a brown hard hat, black short coat, corduroy trowsers, brown vest; spent 13 years in army, spent past 4 years in Tullow, county Carlow, in the employ- ment of a Mr. Patrick Kelly; is a labourer. Description of JOHN GRIMLEY, native plao unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1891, in the barony of Borough of Limerick parish of St. John's, stolen a coat and trowsers and sum of about twenty- five or twenty- six shillings, the property of gunner John Johnston, Royal Artillery:— Cicatrix inner side of left knee and leg-, tattoo marks on back and front of both forearms; gray ey< s, fresh complex ion, 5 feet 8 J inch « s high, about 21 years c f age, dark brown hair. This man deferted from the 69th Field Battery, Royal Artil'ery, at Limerick, on the 4th of October, 1891, and may be wearing the clothes which he stole, which are of the following description, dark tweed coat and irowsers. Mayo, Description of two men named CAWLEY ( mother's surname Mary Ward), supposed natives of Elphin, county Roscommon, who stand charged with having, on the night of fth or morning cf 7ih nltimo in the barony of Costello, parish of Armagh, stolen an ass, the property of Edward Prendergast, of Carrickmacin- tyre ( ass described in Hue- and- Cry of 20th October, 1891) :— 1. Dark eyes, short cccfeed n se, fresh complexion round fare, stout make, 5 feet bigh, about 15 years of age, light bron n bair; woro a cordnroy jacket and trowsers. 2. Dark eyes, short cocked nose, fresh complexion thin face, stout make, 4 feet 8 inches high, about 12 years of a^ e, light brown hair; wore a corduroy jacket and trowssrs. Both are sons of a tinker named Tim Cawley, and will probably be found in company with other tinkers. Informations sworn and Warrant at Claremorris. Description of JOHN PURCELL, native of Mona- mondra, Queen's County, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1891, at Ballycleary, in the baronv f f Upperwoods, parish of Offerlane, stolen the fun of 10s. from his master:— Light brown eyei, hooked nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium • make, 5 ' eet 8 inches high, abcut 36 years of sge, thin sandy beard, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, dark morning coat, and barracan trowsars, no vest is tramping labourer. Description of ROBERT SLEATOR ( mother's surname Foster), native of Bohey. who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of october, 1891, in the barony of Tirerrill, parish of Ballysodare, stolen an iron gate, value £ 3, the property of John Coleman, Collooney:— Small fair monstache, gray or blue eyes, slightly hooked note, fair complexion, th'n face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wote a black hard hat, tweed coat, trowsers. and vest, sometimes wears an overcoat, Newmarket make; is a tamer's son; rerved in the R I. C. This man was hailed to take his trial for said offence at Riverstown Petty Sessions on 28th ult., but failed to surrender to his recognizances. Description of JAMES BRIEN, alias BRIEN ThE RAKe ( mother's surname Power), native of Tip- perary, S. R., who stands charged with having, on the 2! nd October, lf- 91, in the barony cf Slievardegh, parish of Newtown, stolen the sum of £ 18 from his employer, James Whelan, of Oldcaatle:— Walks with a heavy slovenly gait; light brown eyes, slightly L 1 nose, rather sallow complexion, large bold full face, stout square make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high about 22 or 23 years of age, fairish ha r; wore a brown tweed cap with peak and earflaps tied at top, coarse brown tweed sack coat and trowsers, dark vest; is a labourer and deserter from army ; frequents Kil- kenny and Waterford. Description of MICHAEL CONNOLLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th October, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, pariah of Aghnameadle, indecently assaulted Annie Quinlisk, aged 14:— Regular nose, fair, inclined to red, complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of age; wore a gray coat, gray trowsers, and black peaked cap, flat down; is a farm servant and discharged soldier. Sometimes goes on tramp around borders of North Tipperary and King's County. Warrant in posses- sion of Sergeant Kelly, Toomevara. Nenagh 15th October, 1891. ( 12200 c.— 94331.) Description of EUGENE MOORE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a blue waterproof overcoat, the property of Mr. John Hurley, Carrick- on- Suir, which has since been recovered:— Mark of recent cut on bridge of nose, light gray eyes, short thick noso, dark sallow complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 5 ircbes high, about 37 or 38 years of age, dark brown bair; is a horse trainer. Description of MICHAEL CONNELL ( mother's surname Ryan), native cf Knockshanbrittas, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Upper, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Rodger Ryan, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger;— Marks of sore on left cheek, hardy active appearance, nose sharp, pointed, and turned to one side, narrow mouth with cocked lips, high cheek bones, gray eyes, long thin noso, lresh complexion, Ebaves all his face except moustache, which is clipped short, dark hair, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age; wore a Mere frock coat, tweed trowsers and vast; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple^ more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. O., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Ronnd shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, bine eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, bluo eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years e? age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Tyrone, v Description of ANDREW M'CREA, native of Killowen, who stands charged with having, on the 9th October, 1891, in the barony of Omagh West, parish of Longfield West, fired a shot at John M'Menamin:— Shaved all his face recently except moustache, which is sandy; brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 7} incnes high, about 28. years of age, sandy hair; is a Labourer. Description of THOMAS CASHEL ( mother's surname Foley), native of Cappoquin, who stands charged with having, on or abont the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, parish of Lismore, stolen a letter containing a postal order for 15*. :-. Walks with a slight stoop and swaggering gait, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full fiace, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, fair hair; were a light tweed cap, dark tweed coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a servant boy. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; were an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of MICHAEL STACHAM ( mother's surname Byrne), and JAMES HAYES ( mother's surname Waters), natives of Seven Churches, county Wicklow, who stand charged with having, on the night of 5th or morning of 6th August, 1891, in the barony of Ballinacor North, parish of Derrylossary, and county Wicklow, stolen two scythes, the property of John Richardson and Richard Johnston, both of Laragh East:— 1. Blue eyes, regular nose, r « . ther pale complexion, round face, stout make, shaves all his face which is very small, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. 2. Blue eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, shaves his face except moustache, which is very small and li » ht colour, 5 feet or 7 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age; wore a dark eerge sack coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS BURNS, 0. 128, convicted at tie Recorder's Court, Belfast, county Antrim, on 17th February, 1887, for break- ing and entering, and larceny, and previous conviction, and settcnced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 28 years of age on conviction, single, is an iron turner, bora at Falls- road, Belfast, refided at Belfast before conviction; has friends residing at Divis- street, Bel- fast :— Fair heir, gray eyes, fair eyebrows, broad nose, medium mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5J inches l. igh, scar on forehead, right knee, and le't breast, two dots between left thumb and finger, lost several Upper teeth. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison on 28th April, 1891, end went to Belfast. He left bis residence on the 16th ult. without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In tbe event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 5th November, 1891. ( 437 H. C,) / ( 11148 c.— 92603) 112, Particulars relative to convict JOHN O'BRIEN, c. 166, convicted st the Dublin Commission on 3rd August, 1887, for larceny, and sentencod to 5 years; 61 years of sge on conviction, married, is a painter, born in Dublin, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Gray hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, medium nose, small mouth, ir.? sh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inohes high; lost three upper front teeth, sore mark on loft shin, swelling vein in calf of right leg. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, 9th July, 1891, on licence. He left his residie? ft » e, 20, North Cumberland- street, Dublin, without report- ing same to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to Scpervisee GEORGE GRIMES, convicted at Liverpool County Sessions, on 17th January, 1888, for receiving stolen cotton, and sentenced to 2 years' hard labour and 3 years police supervision :— 49 years of age on conviction, dark brown hair, thin on crown, hazel eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate make, 6 feet 7f inches high, cut each side of forehead, right eyebrow, bridge of nose, left cheek b ne, and OJ> irside of left shin; is a marine store dealer; bom in county Armagh; resided before conviction at 8, Camden- street, Bootle. Marks:— Scar oh back of head. Right side— cross on forearm, part ring on second finger, scar on bnttock and Lip. Left side— scar on shoulder, cross and chara'ters with C. L. on forearm, blue figure above, part crown on wrist, and two indistinct letters and six dots on back of hand, tattoo marks on centre of chest. When Ia; t seen was dressed in light overcoat and light felt bat, and had beard, & c., of about a week's growth. Has been previously convicted at Essex Sessions ( also six times summarily), on 28th November, 1876, for housebreaking, sentenced to 2 months; on 18th October, 1877, for larceny, sentenced to 9 months; on 25th November, 1879, for stealing, sentenced to 18 months; on 15th October, 1884, for horeo stealing in Southend Division, sentenced to 6 years' penal servitude; on 20th November, 1888, for failing to report, & c., licence revoked. Franklin is a dangerous character, and likely to offer violent resistance to his apprehension. Was last heard of at Maldon, on 9th October, where he sold the gun and flask.
