All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary _ Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn: but it is not necea « r » to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been Issued, and by the name of the person m whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of tUa nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *•* Shouk! irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears as without thh Information the mistake cannot be rectified. ^^ f* Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the tbolition of Gaols, Stations, die., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of WILLIAM JOHN SCOTT, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 28th September, 1891, at Portrush, in the barony of Lower Dunluce, parish of Ballywillin, when under arrest for larceny of clothing, assaulted Constable William Buchanan, and escaped from custody!— Dark brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin faca, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dsrk hair; wore a faded gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp, sings in towns, and served in the militia. Warrant issued. Ballymoney, 2nd Oct, 1891. ( 11951 c.— 93930. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown . eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofula marks on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Cliston- street, Belfast, where he was born; his parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; bis uncle, George Bell, Farmer, lives at Ballykeel, Dromfc t, county Down. Dressed when he iftsconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with XI. 17th September, 1891. ( 425 H. O.) ANDREW GRAHAM ( young offender), Uue and Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast. Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( sarious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c,— 88166.) Cork. Description of EDWARD WATSON, native of High Broughton, Manchester, who stands charged with having, on the 30th day of September, 1891, in the bsrony of Barrymore, parish of Templerobin, stolen the sum of £ 9 Ms. 3d., the moneys of Herbert Ravenscroft, Lieutenant 1st Batt. Manchester Regi- ment; and also with having embezzled about £ s, moneys of Military Canteen at Rocky Island, Cork Harbour:— Has lost front tooth in upper jaw, blue eyes, reddish nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair moustache and hair; wore a hard low hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest j is a sergeant 1 st Batt. Manchester Regiment. Left Rocky Island in uniform about 9.30 p. m., and Queenstown by 11 p. m. tram, 30th September, dressed in new dark tweed suit. Warrant issued. Queenstown, 3rd Oct, 1891. Description of WILLIAM WILSON, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 21st September, 1891, in the barony of Upper Castlereagh, parish of Drumbo, stolen a suit of clothes, a pair of shoes, a cap, and £ 3 in single notes, from the dwelling- house of one John Bourke, and with having broken out therefrom;— Sore on back of right hand, scab on left cheek, red cheeks, stoppage in speech, blue eyes, sharp nose, fresh complexion, fresh face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches bigb, about 26 years of age, very fair hair; wore a blue cap, dark tweed coat, striped tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest, Lorne shoes, being the clothes stolen ; is a labourer. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 20th September, 1891, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— _ WILLIAM LAWLER, No. 1171, 19 years of ago, about 5 feet inches high, medium make, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage ; three dots, cross and small stroke cn left arm, scald on back of head ; formerly belonged to Dublin; his mother, Jane Lawler, resides at 3, Ranelagh- avenue, Dublin. The dress consists of:— Black hard felt hat, mole- skin trowsers, navy blue serge jacket and vest Blucher boits. He is a good baker; he may try to hire with a baker or farmer, or he may enlist. .... .. Description of MICHAEL CONNOLLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th October, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Aghnameadle, indecently assaulted Annie Quinlisk, aged 14 :— Regular nose, fair, inclined to red, complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 fe; t 6 inches high, about 27 or 28 years of sga ; wore a gray coat, gray trow> ers, and black peaked cap, fl » t crown; is a farm servant and discharged soldier. Description of EUGENE MOORE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of September, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of St. Mary's, stolen a b'ue waterproof overcoat, the property of Mr. John Hurley, Carrick- on- Suir, which has since been recovered :— Mark of recent cut on bridge of no? e, light gray eyes, short thick ncse, dark sallow complexion, broad face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 87 or years of age, dark brown hair; is a horse trainer. Warrant in hands of D. I., Clonmel. CLONMEL, 28th Sept., 1891. ( 11888 r.— 93817.) Description of MICHAEL CONNELL ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Knockshanbrittas, who stands charged with having, on the 17th September, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Upper, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted Rodger Ryan, by striking him on the head with a stone, thereby placing his life in danger;— Marks of sore on left cheek, hardy active appearance, nose sharp, pointed, and turned to one side, narrow month with cocked lips, high cheek bones, gray eyes, long thin ncse, fresh complexion, shaves all his face except moustache, which is clipped short, dark hair, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 31 years of age; wore a frieze frock coat, tweed trowsers end vost; is a farmer's son. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on tha 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. O., while in the execution of their duty:— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer ard returned American. 2. Bound shoulders, fresh cut on eyebrow, blue eyes, sandy complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a soft; black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut cn forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round faee, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larcony of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody u— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin Jace, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore en old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm ; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack cost, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Description of ANDREW M'CREA, native of Killowen, who stands charged with having, on tha 9th October, 1891, in the barony of Omagh Weit, parish of Longfield West, fired a shot at John M'Menamin:— Shaved all his faca recently except moustache, which is sandy: brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feat 7f incnes high, about 28 years of age, ssndy hair; is a Labourer. Warrant for arrest in the hands of Sergeant Mulcahy at Drumquin. Newtownstewart, 14th October, 1891. 12193 o.— 94309. Wicklow. Description of MICHAEL STACHAM ( mother's surname Byrne), and JAMES HAYES ( mother's surname Waters), natives of Seven Churches, connty Wicklow, who stand charged with having, on the night of 5th or morning of 6th August, 1891, in the barony of Ballinacor North, parish of Derrylossary, and county Wicklow, stolen two scythes, the property of John Richardson and Richard Johnston, both of Laragh East:— 1. Blue eyes, regular nose, rather pale complexion, round face, stout make, shaves all his face which is very small, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown bair; wore a dark tweed coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. 2. Blue eyes, long thin noie, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, shaves his face except moustache, which is very small and light colour, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 22 or 23 years of age; wore a dark serge sack coat, light tweed trowsers and vest. Particulars relative to Supervisee GEORGE GRIMES, convicted at Liverpool County Sessions, on 17th January, 1888, for receiving stolen cotton, and sentenced to 2 years' hard labour and 3 years police supervision:— 49 years of ago on conviction, dark brown hair, thin on crown, hazel « ye « , fresh complexion, proportionate make, 5 feet 7f inches high, cut each side of forehead, right eyebrow, bridge of nose, left cheek bone, and on inside of left shin; is a marine store dealer; born in county Armagh; resided before conviction at 3, Camden- street, Bootle. ENGLISH POLICE. Sussex. Description of a mat), supposed name BARTER, native place unknown, charged with larceny of jewellery from lodginghouse ( for description sea property stolen):— About 25 years of ago, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and moustache, very bright eyes colour unknown, pointed chin, has gcod appearance and address; dressed in a black hard felt hat, brown tourist's suit, and lace boots. Left behind him a brown leather portmanteau fastened with a brass padlock, and a new small- sized Gladstone bag, nickle lock and end fastenings, containing a small common American cloth hand- bag and two metal electric light globe ornaments, shape of tulip, an iron case opener, and a small saw in handle. Wanted, for theft of a watch and a vast ( recovered); also a silver Albert chain, round links ( not recovered), on 21st current :— HUGH ANDREWS, a painter to trade, but working as a labourer, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, reddish fair hair, sandy moustache, and small side whiskers ; dressed in yellow striped trowsers, blue cloth vest, heather mixture cloth jacket, light single peaked cap, and old lacing boots. His wife is said to reside in South Side, Glasgow, and he is said to have been a member of a Good Templar Lodge in that district. Description of a pony, tho propeity of John Redington, Esquire, Sub- Sheriff, which was stolen from the pound at Charlestown, parish of Killian, barony of Killian, on the 23rd day of September, 1891 :— Cream- coloured colt, with black points, over two years old, about 12 hands high; value for about £ 12. Description of a donkey, the property of Michael King, of Knocknacaska, which was stolen from Tralee market, parish of Traleo, barony of Trughenackmy, on the 19th day of September, 1891:— A he donkey, black colour, wart on belly, not shod; valne 15s. Description of an ass, property of Michael Ashe, of Staplestown, which was stolen off the public road of Staplestown, parish of Ballinafagh, barony of Clane, on 27th September, 1891:— Gray gelding, shod on two fore feet, small but strong; value about £ 3. Believed to have been taken by a driver named " Loughrea," who is low sized, gray hair, no front teeth; wore brown hat, dark coat, moleskin trowsers. He can be indentified by Donadea police. Description of four head of cattle, the property of John Reynolds, which were stolen from the lands of Rosharry, parish of Mobill, and barony of Mohill, on the 3rd day of October, 1891 1. Description of an ass, the properly of Edward Prendergast, which was stolen from the lands of Carrickmacintyre, parish of Annagh, barony of Costello, on night of 6th or morning of 7th October, 1891:— Hare ass, dark brown colour, eight years old, was rearing a foal, unshod and hoofs uncut, but may lave teen pared and shod since; rough scar just above hoof < n one of fere legs; Talne £ 0*. Description of 3 bullocks, the property of John Lavelle, which were stolen from the lands of Letter- brick, parish of Crossmolina, barony of Tyrawley, on night of 1st or morning of 2nd October, 1891:— 1. Tipperary. r ( • Description of two sheep, the property of The Land Corporation of Ireland ( Limited), which were stolen from the lands of Clonghalcigh, parish of Belickmurry and Athassel, barony of Clanwilliam, on the night of 8th or morning of 9th October, 1891. Description of aiticles, the property of Bridget Flynn, which were stolon from her dwellinghouse, at Woodtown, parish of Culmullen, barony of Upper Deece, on the 18th day of Augnst, 1891:— One dark frock coat, one light - coloured vest, one dark gray trowsers, one striped necktie, two old white single blankets, one calico sheet, one bag containing some groceries, and a two- shilling piece} value £ 1 10s. Description of a revolver, property of Earl de Montalt which was stolen from the dwelling- house occupied by his caretaker, John Roche, at Monroe, parish of Clonoulty, and barony of Lower Kilna- maeagh, on Sunday, 27th September, 1891:— A five- chambered revolver, loaded in three chambers, the words „ British Bulldog " and " Hawarden," in small letters, engraved on barrel, abont 6£ inches long, bluish colour, old and rusty, the barrell thick, about 3£ inches long, rcund on outside, fonr grooves on inside, a strap of metal running back from the barrell along die stock and continuing np to the trigger- guard, dark wooden stock; valne tor £ 1. 4th October, 1891. Description of plate, the property of Ardnurcher Parish, which was stolen from the Protestant Church at Horseleap, parish of Ardnurcher, barony of Moy- cashel, on the 28th or 29th day of Angnst, 1891, probably by tinkers:— One large flagon, supposed silver, broad at bottom, tapering to top, side straight, had a lid, handle, and spont, no inscription; one chalice, gold lined, no inscription, goblet- shaped, similar to a largo wine- glass, supposed silver, bnt may be plated; one paten, supposed silver, may be plated, has a raised bottom of about two inches, size of a breakfast plate, inscribed" Ardnurcher Church " j one alms- dish, very small, silver, quite flat, with a rim, inscribed " Horse- leap Church, 1806.
