NOTICE. Tho composition of the Hue- and- Cry will be found arranged for easy reference as follows:— ( a.) Regulations on top of first page, ( b.) Apprehensions sought. ( 1.) Royal Irish Constabulary. Antrim. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on ttie 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, largo month, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofula marls on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Clifton- street, Belfast, whero he was born; his parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; his uncle, George Bell, Farmer, lives at Ballykeel, Dromore, county Down. Dressed when he absconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, rod and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 17th September, 1891. ( 425 H. O.) and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE—- Arrest cannot bo legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c—- 88166.) Cavan. Description of A BOY, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd August, 1891, in barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Kildrumsheridan, stolen a heifer calf, the property of Sarah M'Quillan, of Drumhose Rather stout make, 18 years of age; dark coat, trowsers, and vest; carried a whip, with two or three brass bands. Bailieboro', 26th Aug., 1891. ( 11339 C.— 92903.) ANDREW GRAHAM ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast. Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent^ contracts eyebrows when spbahing, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; woro a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, Cork. Particulars relative to Convict DENIS LONG, N 137, convicted at Gibraltar by General Court Martial, on 10th February, 1887, for striking his supprior officer, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servi- tude :— 22 yasrj" of age on conviction, single, is a soldier, 2nd Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, born at St. Finbar's, Cork, resided at Gibraltar before conviction; dark brown hair, gray eyes, ( resh complexion, long visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 9J inches high, coat of nras on chest, man boxing in wreath on right arm, harp and shamrock between right thumb and finger, naked female and two men on right thigh, serpent, arrows, & c., and burn on right leg, harp and wreath on left arm, st9r between left thumb and finger, three naked females and flower in pot on left leg. This man was discharged from Chatham Prison on 29th April, 1891, end stated he was going to reside in Cork. He has failed to report himself since 30th July last, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 17th September, 1891. ( 424 H. C,) Description of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD, native place unknown, who stands charged with hav- ing, on the 2nd of Marob, 1891, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Ardagh, ur/ MWfully and by false and fraudulent pretences, obtained from nne Francis Jervois, Esq., the sum of three pounds and three shillings:— Red eyes, regular noee, fresh complexion, fat face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 63 years of age, brown lair turning gray and cut short; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, light striped tweed c> at, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a Ploughman. Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Youghal. Youghal, 25th August, 1891, ( 11237 c.— 92828.) Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, abont 27 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a firay cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued in the hands of the police at Drimo- league. Dunmanway, 9th Jnne, 1891. ( 9775 c.— 90171.) Donegal, JOHN KELLY ( attempting to poison), Hue- and- Cry, 21st August, not arrestod. ( 9039 c.— 89825.) DOWn, Description of JOHN TINNELLY ( mother's surname Hollywood), native of Rostrevor, who stands charged with laving, on the 23rd August, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, parish of Clonallon, seriously assaulted one Arthur George Stacey of Rostrevor:— Smart active appearance, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark moustache, shaved face, dark hair; were a dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Is a Baker. Warrant issuad. Rathfriland, 26th August, 1891. ( 11305 C.— 92855.) PATRICK DOUGLAS and JOHN DEVLIN ( stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 7th July, have not been arrested, ( 10276 c— 91079.) MAN ( charged with stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 7th July, has not been arrested. ( 10280 o— 91081.) Galway. Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who stands charged with having on tho 5th day ol August, 1891, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue, embezzled the sum of £ 10 12*. Ad., the property of John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's County:— Swaggering gait, was in the army, sallow complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of ega, fair hair, slight moustache; wore a dark coat; is a van driver. Description of JOHN or MICHAEL LAWLOR, native of Limerick city, who stands charged with having, in the month of Janua'y, 1891, in the barony of Kells, parish of Killamory, stolon a watch, the nropeity of Michael Lonergan, of Roscon, which has been since recovered:— Blind in one eye ( probably the right), cut- mark on ear, regular nose, y.- llow com- plexion, regular face, melium make, 5 feet 6 inches high. aboi, t 3) yeais of age-, wore a sjft hat, tweed coat, trowsers, t, nd vest j is a tramping labourer. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 2 nh day of June, 1831, in the barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Maghera, com mltted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is dark and cut short ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- Sloxion, full face, stoat make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches igli, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black bat; is a farm labouror. Description of PATRICK TANSEY ( mother's surname Doherty), nativa of Churchacre, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 8th September, 1891, in the larcny of Boyle, parish of Kilronan, assaulted one Patrick M'Greevy, so a3 to place his life in danger:— Dark blue eyes, rather hooked nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inch's Ivgh, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard hat, black coat, gray trowsers, aud dark vest; is a farmer's son. information sworn and warrant issued for his arrest, which is in the hands of the Sergeant at Keaduo. Boyle, 16th- Septembor, 1891. ( 11625 o.— 93154.) JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. ( 9247 c.—. 89331.) Tipperary. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, blue ejes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy bair; wore a soft black hat, lost ia the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cat on eyebrow, bluo eyes, sandy complexion, round lace, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, aud black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about SO years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issued for arrest of No. 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891, ( 11494 c.— 93169.) Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER), native of Moher, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over the left eye, knocking him down, and kicking him, thereby placing his life in dsnger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- ance, keeps his bends in trowters pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of p. ge, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; wore a bright tweed sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. Warrant in hands of police. Dundrum, 6th August, 1891. ( 10959 c — 92283) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, wbo stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody:— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June. 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dundrum, 9th June, 1891. ( 9785 c.— SOI 82.) JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN ( larceny), Hae and- Cry, 6th September, not arrested. ( 11148 92603) Waterford. Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for tho sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in the Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on tho same day:— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest darker than coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. He is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go. Warrant issued for his arrest. Portlaw, 29th June, 1891. ( 10167 c.— 90861.) Westmeath. Description of tho undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— MICHAEL KELLY, 2399, ab- ut 16 years of age, about 5 feet l igh, ordinary make, ( air and freckled com- plexion, brown hair, gray eye<, ordinary no3e, ordinary mouth, round visage, " M. K." tattooed on left arm, and " M," on back of left hwid; formerly belonged to 8, Clarence- place, off Great Clarence- street, Dublin; his parents reside at 26, Hanover- lane, east, Dublin. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), cordaroy jacket, moleskin trowsers, strong nailed boots, No. 2399. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 7th September, 1891, ( 423 H, C.) S Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1S91, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— PATRICK MAY, No. 2300, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, ordinary make, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hnir, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; one front upper tocth growing inwards. Formerly belonging to Balrothery, Tallaght ( at Lawlor's. Timmon); sister resides at 102, Bride- street, Dublin. The School drsss, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( S otch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowtcis, strong riail< d boots, No. 2300. Is a shoemaker; can 5 lay well cn a flute, and will enlist ia tho trmy if possible. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward tho person who may capture him with £ 1. 7tb September, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county wicklow:— PATRICK CONDRON, 2313, aboit 18 or 19 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 itches high, stout make, very red and fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, thick note, ordinary mouth, round visage, blue dots on right hand and wrist; formerly belonged to 3, Merchants'- quay, Dublin; his parents are dead. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), coidurov jacket, moleskia trowsers, strong naiLd boots, No. 2313. Will probably endeavour to enlist or leave the country. Does not appear to be quite sane sometimes. The Manager cf the Reformatory will defray the expenses of lis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the peieon who may capture him with £ 1. 7th September, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6fh September, 1891, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wictlow;— THOMAS PERRY. 2441, about 17 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyts, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval vuago, " T." aLd " J. P." tattooed on right fore- arm ; formerly belonged to 80, Jervis street, Dublin, where his mother resides. Tho school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotchmake), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowters, strong nailed boots, No. 2441. He has a friend named C. Lennon, at Mrs. Healy's, 3, Ormond- place, Dublin, with whom he corresponds. Spent some time at Skenies, county Dublin, working with a shoemaker. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray tho expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to the neaiest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 7th September, 1891. C.) £ Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree:— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place; marks of sores on his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago bis uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, resided at 16, Lower Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three hoys belonged to the band. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. JOHN KELLY ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 30th Jane, not arrested. ( 395 H. C.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 1891, 1881. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Description cf GEORGE BATES, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 1st inst., embezzled the sum of £ 6, the property of Messrs. Johnson and Oughton, Leinster- street, Dublin, Stationers and Newsagents :— 20 years of age, 5 feet inches higb, brown hair, dark complexion, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, brown eyes, slight built", smart active appearance, good looking; dressed when last seen in old lounge soit of brown tweed, may now be wearing a blue overcoat, with velvet collar. Was beard to express his intention of going to Belfast. Warrant in the hands of Chief Superintendent. 7th September, 1891. ( 422 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict TIMOTHY HAYES, c 172, convicted at Cork Quarter Sessions on 15th October, 1887, for larceny and former conviction, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 30 yeats of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Cork, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside; fair lair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, regular nose, medium month, freckled complexion, round visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 2 inches high. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, on licence, 9th July, 1891, and Kent to Cork. He left bis residence on 11th instant without reporting to R. I. C., and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 31st August, 1891. . ( 419 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict MARY WEIR, B 155, convicted at Enniskillen Quarter Sessions, county Fermanagh, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years'penal servitude:— 43 years of age on conviction, married, is a laundress, born at Drumshambo, c: unty Leilrim, resided before conviction at Omagh, K here her friends reside; brown hair turning gray, blue eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, large moutb, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 2f inches higb, mark on forehead. This woman was released from Golden Bridge Refuge, on licence, 19th July, 1890, and went lo MohilL She reportod to t he Police at Edgeworths- town, on tke 31st ult, that she was going to Dromod, county Leitrim, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In ike event of her arrest she should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 20th August, 1891. ( 417 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM MURRAY, 0. 126, convicted at Dublin City Com- mission, on 9th Febraary, 1887, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 36 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor, born at Dublin, resided before conviction at Dablin, where Lis friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 4 inches high; ship, " W. E. W." on left forearm, ruptured right side, sore mark on right shin. This man was released, on Licence, from Mary- boro' Prison 13th January, 1891, and went to Bel- fast, which place he left on 15th June last, and his present whereabouts cannot be ascertained. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 17th August, 1891. ( 4i6 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 8J inches high ; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, cult of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown.
