All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is uot necesaary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- GeneraL Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thia nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and. Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish'Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, die., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DUBLIN, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1891. NOTICE. The composition of the Hue- and- Cry will be found arranged for easy referent* M follows ( a.) Regulations on top of first page, ( b.) Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 11th September, 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— HUGH BELL, 16 years of age, brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, large mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 4 feet 10 inches high, scrofula marks on left side of neck, chicken- chested ; is a farm boy; formerly belonged to Clifton- street, Belfast, where he was born; bis parents reside at 86, Boundry- street; bis uncle, George Bell, Farmer, lives at Ballykeel, Dromore, county Down. Dressed when he absconded in a Glengarry cap, dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 17th September, 1891. ( 425 H. O.) ANDREW GRAHAM ( young offender), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast, Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, squar£$ houlders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when sp< 4^ ing, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c— 88166.) Cavan. Description of A BOY, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd August, 1891, in barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Kildrumsheridan, stolen a heifer calf, the property of Sarah M'Quillan, of Drumhose:— Rather stout make, 18 years of age; d> rk coat, trowsers, and vest; carried a whip, with two or three brass . bands. Particulars relative fo Convict DENIS LONG, N 137, convicted at Gibraltar by General Court Martial, on 10th February, 1837, for striking bis superior officer, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servi- tude :— 22 years of age on conviction, single, is a soldier, 2nd Batt. Boyal Irish Rifles, born at St. Finbar's, Cork, resided at Gibraltar before conviction; dark brown hair, gray eyep, fresh complexion, long visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 9£ inches fcigh, coat of ar/ r s cn chest, man boxing in wreath on right arm, harp and shamrock between right thumb and finger, naked female and two men on right thigh, serpent, arrows, & c., and burn on right leg, harp and wreath on left arm, star between left thumb and fiager, three naked females and flower in pot on left leg. This man was discharged from Chatham Prison on 29th April, 1891, end stated he was going to reside in Cork. He has failed to report himself since 30th July last, and his present whereabouts is nnknown. In the event of his arrest he should be daalt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 17th September, 1891. ( 424 H c.) Description of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD, native place unknown, who stands obarged with hav- ing, on the 2nd of March, 1891, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Ardagh, unlawfully and by false and fraudulent pretences, obtained from one Francis Jervois, Esq., the sum of three pounds ar> d three shillings:— Red eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, fat face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 63 years of age, brown hair turning gray and cut short; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, light striped tweed c> at, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a Ploughman. Warrant has been issued, and is in tha hands of the District Inspeator at Youghal. Youghal, 25th August, 1891, ( 11237 C.— 92828.) Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones whicn were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fork sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a pray - cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray twoed vest; is a labourer. Warrant issued in the hands of the police at Drimo- league. Dunmanway, 9th June, 1891. ( 9775 c.— 90171.) Donegal. Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of June, 1891, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum: Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN TINNELLY ( mother's surname Hollywood), native of Rostrevor, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd August, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, parish of Clonallon, seriously assaulted one Arthur George Stacey of Rostrevor:— Smart active appearance, dark eyes, regular nose," dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark moustache, shaved face, dark hair ; wcro a dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest.' Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who stands chargod with having, on the 5th day oi & hgust, 1891, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue, embezzled the sum of £ 10 12*. 4d. tho property ot John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's County:—- Swaggering gait, was in the army, sallow complexion, 5 teet 7 inches high, about 25 years of ags, fair bair, slight moustache; wore a dark coat; is a van driver. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 2 > th day of June, 18* 1, in tbe barony of Longhinshollin, parish of Maghera, com mitted an aggravated issault upon ono Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is dark and cut short ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, full face, stoat make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches nigh, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black hat; is a farm labourer. Description of JOHN M'GRATH, native of Ardee, who stands charged with having, on the 17th August, 1891, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Ardee, embezzled and stolen abont ten pounds sterling, the property of Michael M'Cann, of Ardee, baker:— Gray eyes, rather long noso, fresh complexion, slightly freckled, thin faoe, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 19 years of age,, fair bair; wore a black hard hat and gray tweed suit; is a bread- van driver. Description of PATRICK TANSEY ( mother's surname Doherty), native of Churchacre, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 8th September, 1891, in the barony of Boyle, parish of Kilronan, assaulted one Patrick M'Greevy, so as to place his life in danger:— Dark blue eyes, rather hooked nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 fret 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard hat, black coat, gray trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son, Infornation sworn and warrant issued for his arrest, which is in tho hands of the Sergeant at Kaadue. Boyle, 16th September, 1891. ( 11625 o.— 93 154.) JOHN DALY ( homicide), flue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. ( 9247 c.—. 89331.) Tipperary. Description of JOHN DONOHOE, native of Burges, who stands charged with hsvincr, on the 3rd day of September, 1891, in the barony cf Owney and Arra, parish of Burgesbeg, assaulted John M'Grath, thereby endangering bis life:— Brown eyes, regular rose, very fresh complexion, broad face, very stout make, 5 feet 11 inches higb, about 38 years of age, sandy bair, sandy whiskers and moustache; is a farmer. Warrant issued. He is likely to cut off beird and whiskers if be endeavours to emigrate. Nenagh, 8th Sept., 1891. ( 11546 c.— 93244.) Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, snd TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged viith having, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C., while in the execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustache, good looking, bluo eyes, reguUr nos » , pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 f « set 8 inches high, about 29 years of age, sandy hair; wore a soft b'ack hat, lost i. i the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest. Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shou'ders, fresh cut on eyebrow, bluo eyes, sandy complexion, romd face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years; cf ego, sandy hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyas, yellow com- plexion, round faes, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, dark twoed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issued for arrest of No. 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891. ( 11494 a— 9316°.) Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER), native of Moher, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August,_ 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over tbe left eye, knocking him down, and kicking him, thereby placing his life in danger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- snce, keeps his hands in trowsers pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown bair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; wore a bright tweed sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. ( 10959 c — 92293) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the lfth day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody:— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abont 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrnm, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June. 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin faco, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. ( 11148 Waterford. r Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged bis father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in th « Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day :— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches 1 igh, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vost darker than coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. lie is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go. Description of tha undernamed young offender, wbo, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from tbe St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— MICHAEL KELLY, 2399, abut 16 years of age, about 5 feet high, ordinary make, fair and freckled com- plexion, brown hair, gray eye^, ordinary nose, ordinary moutb, round visage, " M. K." tattooed on left arm, and " M." on back of left hand; formerly belonged to 8, Clarence- place, off Great Clarence- street, Dublin; his parents reside at 26, Hanover- lane, east, Dnblin. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consi ts of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), cc- rd'iroy jacket, moleskin trowsers, stronj nailed boots, No. 2 99. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 7th September, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow: — PATRICK MAY, No. 2300, about 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, ordinary make, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; one front upper to th crowing inwards. Formerly belonging to Balrothery, Tallaght ( at Lawlor's, Timmon); sister resides at J02, Bride- street, Dublin. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consi ts of:— Clcth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy j> cket, moleskin trowsers, strong naih d boots, No. 2300. Is a shoemaker; can { lay well on a flute, and will enlist in the army if possible. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1, 7tb September, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of t- unday, 6th September, lt> 91, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— PATRICK CONDRON, 2318, abont 18 or 19 years of age, abont 6 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout make, very red and fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, thick nose, ordinary moutb, round visage, blue dots on right hand and wrist; formerly belonged to 3, Merchants'- quay, Dublin ; hi3 parents are dead. The Sohool dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers, strong nailed boots, No. 2313. Will probably endeavour to enlist or leave the country. Does not appear to be quite sane sometimes. THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 18, 1891, = r r a Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, i891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree :— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 cr 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place; marks of sores on his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago his uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, resided at 16, Lower Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. JOHN KELLY ( young offender) Hue- and- Cry, SO. h June, not arrested. ( 395 H. C.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Description of GEORGE BATES, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 1st inst., embezzled the sum cf £ 6. the property of Messrs. J hnson ard Oughton, Leinster- street, Dublin, Stationers and Newsagents :— 20 years of age, 5 feet indie* higb, brown hair, dark complexion, no bear d, whiskers, or moustache, brown eyes, flight build, smart activo appoaranco, good looking ; dressed when last seen in old lounge suit of brown tweed, may now be wearing a blue overcoat, with vol vet collar. Was 1 eard to express bis intention of going to Belfast. Warrant in the hands ol Chief Superintendent. 7th September, 1891. ( 422 H. C ) Particulars relative to Convict TIMOTHY HAYFS, c 172, convicted f » t Cork Qaarter Sessions on 15th October, 1887, for larceny and former conviction, and sentenoed to 5 years' penal servitude:— 30 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Cork, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside; fair hair, blue eyes, fair eyobrows, regular cose, medium mouth, freckled complexion, ronnd visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 2 inches high. This* woman was released from Golden Bridge Refuge, on licence, 19th July, 1890, and went to Mohill. She reported to the Police at Edgeworths: town, on tbe 31st ult, that she was going to Dromod, coucty Leitrim, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of ago on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea :— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 3£ inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying bis change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown.
