All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can. be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not neceaswrr to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. ' Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thjjg nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears as without thh Information the mistake cannot be rectified. ' Prison and Police Authorities aro. particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition of Uaols, Stations, & c., and of any ciroumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the paBt two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full lace, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Bolfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. Description of A BOY, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd August, 1891, in barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Kildrumsheridan, i^ fct a heifer calf, the property of Sarah M'Quillan, fflQPtumboso:— Rather stout make, 18 years of age; d> rk era1', trowsers, and vest; carried a whip, with two or three brass bands. Description of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD, native place unknown, who stands charged with hav- ing, on the, 2nd of March, 1891, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Ardagh, unlawfully and by false and fraudulent pretences, obtained from one Francis Jervois, Esq., the sum of three pounds and three shillings:— Red eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, fat face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 63 years of ago, brown hair turning gray and cut short; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, light striped tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a Plonghman. Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Yonghal. Youghal, 25th August, 1891. ( 11287 C.— 92828.) Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inchcs high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Donegal, Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of June, 1891, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildram:— Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN TINNELLY ( mother's surname Hollywood), native of Rostrevor, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd August, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, parish of Clonallon, seriously assaulted one Arthur George Staoey of Rostrevor:— Smart active appearance, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark moustache, shaved face, dark hair; wore a dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th day ot August, 1891, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue, embezzled the sum of £ 10 \ 2tAd., the property of John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's County:— Swaggering gait, was in the army, sallow complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of aga, fair hair, slight moustache; wore a dark coat; is a van driver. Portumna, 10th August, 1891. ( 11051 c.— 92442.) Kerry. JAMES BALLANCE ( stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 11th Augnst, has not been arresteH. ( 9902 c.— 90393.) King's. Description of JOHN BURKE, native place unknown, who stands changed with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothe?, which he is supposed to be wearing— be may pawn the watch:— Visible cut- marks on head and about eyes and nose, four teeth out of left side of mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of RocKtown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of June, 18 » 1, in the barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, whioh is dark and cut short; dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, abont 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black nat; is a farm labourer. ' f) fa* THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 8, 1891. v/ Description of THOMAS ROONEY. native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on tho 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others made amenable) on aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan:— High cheek bones, gocd- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of ago, dark hair ; wore a dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN M'GRATH, native of Ardee, who stands charged with having, on the 17th August, 1891, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Ardee, embezzled and stolen about ten pounds sterling, the property of Michael M'Cann, of Ardee, baker:— Gray eyes, rather long nose, fresh complexion, slightly freckled, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inch< s high, about 19 years of age, fa r hair; wore a black hard hat and gray twed fuit; is a bread- van driver. Description of MURPHY ( supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of the 12th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered tha dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, and stolen therefrom a silver lover hunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn about the toes, a pair of boy's boots nearly new, an old gray dust coat, and two ( 2 « .) in silver:— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, wore all his beard, which ii dark brown; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. Description of MICHAEL STAPLETON ( mother's surname Purcell), native of Gortkelly, and TWO MEN unknown, native places unknown, who stand charged with baring, on the 3rd September, 1891, in the barony of Eliogarty, parish of Temple- more, seriously assaulted Sergeant Thomas Devany and Constable James Drohan, R. I. C,, while in tho execution of their duty :— 1. Small sandy side whiskers and moustaohe, good looking, blue eyes, reguUr nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 5 foot 8 inches high, about 29 years of ago, sandy hair; wore a soft Wack hat, lost in the row and now in possession of the Police, blue overcoat, and black trowsers and vest, Is a Farmer and returned American. 2. Round shoulders, fresh cit on eyebrow, bins oyej, sandy complexion, roand face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 34 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, and black trowsers and vest. 3. Fresh cut on forehead, blue eyes, yellow com- plexion, round faee, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, foir hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, brown trowsers, and black vest. Warrant issned for arrest of No. 1. Templemore, 5th Sept., 1891. ( 11494 o— 93169.) reecription of JOHN SULLIVAN ( supposed fictitious), native of Toornafulla, county Limerick, who has been arrested on the charge of having, on the 17th Angust, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Monsea, foloniously set fire to twenty- flve cocks of hay, the property of J. Poe, Esq., Riverston, Nenagh :— Large whitish eyes, largo nose, pale oomplex'on, medium make, 5 fe » t 2 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray ; wore a long black worn coat turning green. At present in Limerick Gaol cn remand. Asthis tramp may have committed offences elsewhere inquiry should bo made about his antecedents, and report sent to District Inspector at Nenagh. Description of JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on tie 14th August, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Rathliney, stolen a flannel shirt and drawers the property of Denis M'Craith, from off his garden hedge, at Craighpoor: 1. Broad stooped shoulders, speaks with a slight Kerry accent, tender gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, ab nt 40 yearn ot a.- e, small dark side whiskers and moustache, dark hair; wore a hard black hat, o'd brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers, mended on knees, and tweed vest; is a labourer. 2. High cheek bones, blue eyes, rather short nose, fair complexion, full round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or c 0 years of age, fair hair j wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, brown tweed torn trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 17th August, 1891. ( 11148 c— 92603) Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER), native of Moher, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over the left eye, knocking him down, and ki king him, thereby placing his life in dinger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- ance, keeps his hands in trowters pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; woro a bright twe* d sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. ( 10959 c — 92283) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the lfith day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrost for larccny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody:— Blotches on face, vory sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very email nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore on old tweed coat, dark tro* sers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm ; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipparary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charge! with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, i tolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin faco, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of nga, dark hsir; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Warrant issusd for his arrest. Dundrum, 9th June, 1891. ( 9785 c.— 90182.) Waterford. Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in tho Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day;— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, abont 15 years of ago, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest darkor than coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— MICHAEL KELLY, 2399, about 16 years of age, about 5 feet high, ordinary make, fair and freckled com- plexion, brown hair, gray eyei, ordinary noio, ordinary mouth, round visage, " M. K." tattooed on left arm, and " M." on back of left hand; formerly belonged to 8, Clarence- place, off Great Clarence street, Dublin; his parents reside at 26, Hanover- lane, east, Dublin. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, con8i « ts of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers, strong nailed boots, No. 2 .' 99. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 189t, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— PATRICK MAY, No. 2300, about 17 years of age, feet 6 inches high, ordinary make, sallow com- plexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinar/' mcuth, oval visige; one f.- ott upper t growing iawards. Formerly belonging to Balrothery, Tallaght ( at Lawlor's, Timmon); sister resides at 102, Bride- street, Dublin. The School dr- ss, all with- Rafo- matory Stamp, conri ts of:— CI th cap ( S: otch make), corduroy jfc^ otjmoJofckin trowers strong nailed boots, No. 2300. Is a shornnker; can j lay well on a fiuta, and will en'itt in tho army if possible. Description of tho undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of sunday, 6th September, 1 91, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencroo, county Wicklow:— PATRICK CONDRON, 2313, aboat 18 or 19 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, stout make, viry red and fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, thick nose, ordinary mouth, round visage, blue dots on right hand and wrist; formerly belonged to 3, Merchants'- qaay, Dublin ; his parents are deal. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowsers, strong nailed boots, No. 2313. Will probably endeavour to enlist or leave the country. Does not appear to be quite sane sometimes. ( 23 h. -\) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the evening of Sunday, 6th September, 1891, absconded from the Saint Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow ;— THOMAS PERRY, 2441, about 17 years of ago. abont 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nosa, ordinary mouth, oval visage, " T." and " J. P." tattooed on right fore- arm ; formerly bolor- gad t) 30, Jerris- street, Dublin, where his mother resides. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, moleskin trowscrs, strong nailed boots, No. 2441. He has a friend named C. Lennon, at Mra. HealyV, 3, Ormond- place, Dublin, with whom he corresponds. Spent some time at Skerries, county Dublin, working with a shoemaker. The Manager of the Reformatory wi'l dofray tho expense of his conveyance, if arrested, to tho neaiest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ f. 7th September, 1891. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— OWEN REILLY ( 2,339), about 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, bro » n hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin; parents dead ; a heart tattooed on right forearm; wants last joint of little finger, left hand. His brother, James Reilly, resides at 35, Commons- street, Dublin ; his brother, William Reilly, at Forest, Cloghran, county Dublin; his sister in High Park Reformatory, Drnmcondra ; and his aunt, Mary Reilly, at Streffan, county Kildare. The school dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap, strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. The band uniform with white braid on cap and tunic. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on ramand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of tho undernamed young offender, wbr,' on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— JOHN NOLAN ( 2,310), about 18 or 19 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 20, Townsend- streat, Dublin parents reside at 2% Moss- street, Dublin; large dinge or hollow on top of his head. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, cor- sists of gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), strong nailed boots, No. 5310. Absconded with William Flood and Owen Reilly The three boys belonged to the band. The Manager of the reformatory will defraj expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree:— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 or 18 yews of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary male, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyos, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place; marks of sores on his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray twead trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- Bide boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago bis uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, resided at 16, Lever Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. This man was released from Msryboro' Prison, on licence, 9th July, 1891, and went to Cork. He left Lis residence on 11th instant without reporting to R. I. C., and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of ago on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nonagh, his friends reside in Roscrea s— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominont nnder- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feot 3J inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on l? th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence be moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th Juno. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Edwards ard Cov., bas sincc been returned marked " no account" Enquiries ha » e shown that the cheque was one of a bcok of twoaty- fke obtained by fraud on the 10th July last from the above bank.
