No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it ia not nocoimrr to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. ' Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charred with an offence of twi nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * » * Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears aa without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray oyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full faco, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 16th April, 1891. Carlow. Description of A BOY, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, ou the sight of 21st or morning of 22nd August, 1891, in barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Kildrumsheridan, stolen a heifer calf, the property of Sarah M'Quillan, of Drumhose :— Rather stout makeAL8 years of aye; dark coat, trowscrs, and vest; cainbd a whip, with two or three brass band?. Description of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD, native place unknown, who stands charged with hav- ing, on the 2nd of Marob, 1891, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Ardagh, unlawfully and by false and fraudulent pretences, obtained from one Francis Jervois, Esq, the sum of three pounds and three shillings:— Red eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, fat face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 63 years of age, brown hair turning gray and cut short; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, light striped tweed eoat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a Ploughman. Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspostor at Youghal. Youghal, 25th August, 1891. ( 11237 o.— 92828.) Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Donegal, Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged v. th having, on the 23rd day of June, 1891, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum:— Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eye?, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age; black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN TINNELLY ( mother's surname Hollywood), native of Rostrevor, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd August, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, parish of Clonallon, seriously assaulted one Arthur George Stacey of Rostrevor:— Smart active appearance, dark eyes, regular ncse, dark complexion, long tbiu face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of a^ o, dark moustache, shaved face, dirk hair; were a dirk coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who standi charged with having, on the 5th day ot August, 1891, in tha barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue -^ MsheaSied the sum of £ 10 12s. id., the property of John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's County:— Swaggering gait, was ia the army, sallow complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of agi, fair hair, slight moustache; wore a dark coat; is a van driver. Description of JOHN BURKE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in tho barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothe', which he is supposed to be wearing—^ e may pawn the watch:— Visible cut- marks on head and about eyes and nose, four teeth out of left side of mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; wore a hard black hat, dark twoed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 2< nh day of^ June, 1891, in the barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter :— Shaves all his faca except uflrastache, which is dark and cut short i dark eyes, regtlar nose, dark com- plexion, full face, stoat make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a darkieh gray coat, dark trowaers and vest, and hard black nat; is a farm labourer. POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBEB 4, 189 Description of THOMAS ROONEY, native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others made amenable) an aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan:— High cheek bones, good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair wore a dark tweod coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's eon. A Warrant is in hands of Police at Moneymore for this man's arrest. Magherafelt, 4tb June, 1891. Description of MURPHY ( supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of the 12th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, nod stolen therefrom a silver lever hunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn about the toes, a pair ot boy's boots nearly now, an old gray dust coat, and two (?*.) in silver:— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, wore all his beard, which is dark brown; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. Tho watch box been found in a pawn office in Dublin. Warrant issued. Slane, 20th June, 1891. ( 9924 c.— 90570). Roscommon. JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. ( 9247 o — 89331.) Tipperary. Description cf JOHN SULLIVAN ( supposed fictitious), native of Toornafulla, county Limerick, who has been arrested < n the charge of having, on the 17th August, 1891, in tho barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Monsea, feloniously set fire to twenty- five cocks of hay, the property of J. Poe, Esq., Riverston, Nenagh:— Large whitish eyes, large nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray ; wore a long black worn coat turning green. At present in Limerick Gaol en remand. As this tramp may have committed offences elsewhere inquiry should be made about his antecedents, and report sent to District Inspector at Nenagh. Description of JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 14th August, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Rathliney, stolen a flannel shirt and drawers, the property of Denis M'Craith, from off his garden helge, at Craighpoor:— 1. Broad stooped shoulders, speaks with a slight Kerry accent, tender gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stcut make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 ye » rs of ace, small dark side whiskers and moustache, dark hair; woro a hard black hat, old brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers, mended on knees, and twoed vest; is a labourer. 2. Hizh cheek bones, blue eyes, rather short nose, fair complexion, full round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or £ 0 years of age, fair hair; woro a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, brown tweed torn trow sera, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 17th August, 1891. ( 11148 92603) Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER), native of Moher, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamaiagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over the left eye, knocking him down, and kicking him, thereby placing his life in danger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- ance, keeps his bands in trowsers pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; wore a bright tweed sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. Warrant in hands of police. Dundrum, 6th August, 1891. ( 10959 c — 92283) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; woro an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for Lis arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June. 1891, at Ballygnr- rane, in tho barony of Kilnamanagh, Lowor, parish of Oughterleague, rtolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrano: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat witt. crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dundrum, 9th Jane, 1891. ( 9785 c.— 90182.) Waterford. Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cc- shed in tha Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day:— Small red spot on side of nose close to oye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowscrs and vest darker than coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. Ho is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go. Warrant issued for his arrest. Portlaw, 29th June, 1891. ( 10167 c 90861.) Westmeath. JOHN HIGGINS ( stabbing), Hue- and- Cry, 10th July, not arrested. ( 9294 o 89433.) THOMAS DUFFY ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry 30th June, not arrested. ( 8112 c.— 87297). Wexford, Description cf WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Taghmon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 4th or morning of 5th instant, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Taghmon, burglariously entered the licensed premises of James Keating, Tagh- mon, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 11 9s. Id.: Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet 3 inches high, about 23 or 24 years of age, looks younger, brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, acd vest; is a labourer and discharged soldier. Taghmon, 7th July, 1891. ( 10333 c.— 9117a) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— OWEN REILLY ( 2,339), about 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 6 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, bine eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin; parents dead; a be* rt tattooed on right forearm; wants last joint of little finger, left hand. His brother, James Reilly, resides at 35, Commons- street, Dublin; his brother, William Reilly, at Forest, Cloghran, county Dublin; his sister in High Park Reformatory, Drumcondra; and his augt, Mary Reilly, at Strafian, county Kildare. The school dre's, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap, strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. The band uniform with white braid on cap and tunic. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow :— JOHN NOLAN ( 2,310), about 18 or 19 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 20, Townsend- street, Dublin; parents reside at 28, Moss- street, Dublin; large dinge or hollow on top of his head. The school dress, all with Refotl sists of gray tweed trowsers, bine serge cap ( the baud uniform, trimmed with white braid), strong nailed boots, No. S310. Absconded with William Flood and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to tho band. The Manager of tho Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward tho person who may capture him with £ 1. C th August, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded frcm the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree:— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 or 18 yews of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary mako, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mcuth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place; marks of sores on his neck. Tho school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray twead trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago bis uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, resided at 16, Lower Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three toys belonged to the band. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. ( 414 n. c.) JOHN KELLY" ( young offender). Hur- and- Cry, 30th June, not arrested. ( 395 n. c.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict TIMOTHY HAYES, o 172, convicted st Cork Quarter Sessions on 15th October, 1887, for larceny and former conviction, and eentenoed to 5 years' penal servitude:— 30 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Cork, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside; fair tair, blue eyes, fair eyebrows, regular cose, medium mouth, freckled complexion, round visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 2 inches high. This men was released from Maryboro' Prison, on licence, 9th July, 1891, and went to Cork. He left his residence on 11th instant without reporting to R. I. C., and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should bo dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 31st August, 1891. ( 419 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict MARY WEIR, B 155, convicted at Enniskillen Quarter Sessions, county Fermanagh, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 43 years of age on conviction, married, is a laundress, born at Drumshambo, county Leitrim, resided before conviction at Omagh, where her friends reside j brown hair turning gray, blue eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout mate, 6 feet 2f inches high, mark on forehead. This woman was released from Golden Bridge Refuge, on licence, 19th July, 1890, and went to Mohill. She reported to the Police at Edgeworths- town, on tbe 31st ult, that she w » s going to Dromod, county Leitrim, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 20th August, 1891. ( 417 H. O.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM MURRAY, 0. 126, convicted at Dublin City Com- mission, on 9th February, 1887, fer larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 36 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor, born at Dublin, resided before conviction at Dublin, where bis friends reside; _ brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate jnafc, 5 feet 4 inches high; ship, " W. E. W." on left forearm, ruptured right side, sera mark on right shin. This man was released, on Licence, from Mary- boro' Prison 13th January, 1891, and went to Bel- fast, which place he left on 15th June last, and his present whereabouts cannot bo ascertained. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec 5 of 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, 17th August, 1891. ( 416 H. C.) t POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 4, 1801. ive to Convict WILLIAM JER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under fal° e pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, singU, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, bro wn eyes, light frown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 3J inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy. Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left bis Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 23rd July, 1891. ( 410 nc.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cheshire. Watted at Chester on a Warrant charging him with uttering a forged cheque on the 11th August, with intent to defraud:— A man who gave the name of Sir WILLIAM SCOTT, Bart., but * rh~, it is believed, has eleo represented himself to be ARTHUR WILSON. Sir GEORGE WELSH, Sir CHARLES SMYTHE, Colonel HECTOR MACKENZIE, Sir R. ELSON, & o. lie stayed at a first- class hotel for three days, and in discharge of lis bi'l tendered a cheque payable to " Sir William Scott, Bart., or bearer," receiving the change in ess''. The chcque, which purported to be drawn upon the Finsbury Park brarch of the London and South- Weitern Bank, Limited, by A. Edwards ard Coy., has since been returned marked " no account."
