All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn j but it ia not necea* ur to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of tHis nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < kc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoidders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant Belfast, 16th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( sarious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c_ 88166.) Cavan. Description of PATRICK O'HARA alias JAMES KELLY, native place unknown, who stands charged witfftaving, on the 7th August, 1891, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish cf Drumgoon, been found under * u> picious c reumstances, ar. d failed to answer satisfactorily for the possession of five pawn tickets for watchns which he pawned in Cavan, under the name of James Kelly, and one brace and bit, which he pawned in Cootehill, under the name of Pat O'Hara:— Diminutive appearance, right shoulder dislocated so as to cause a hump, short neck, bald on top of head s small dark eyes, sharp nose, dark sallow complexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 2 inches higb, about 46 years of age, dark brown hair and moustache, turning gray; wore a dark stuff coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a tramp, looks like a tailor. This man is suspected of having committed burglaries or larcenies elsewhere, and is remanded for inquiries to 15th instant. Description of CHRISTOPHER M'DONALD, native place unknown, who stands charged with hav- ing. on the 2nd of March, 189l, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Ardagh, unlawfully and by false and fraudulent pretenoes, obtained from one Francis Jervois, Esq., the sum of three pounds and three shillings:— Red eyes, regular no= e, fresh complexion, fat face, very stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 63 years of age, brown bair turning gray and cut short; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, light striped tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a Ploughman. Warrant has been issued, and is in the hands of the District Inspector at Youghal. Youghal, 25th August, 1891. ( 11237 c.— 92828.) Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- honse of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which we're thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, <? ark sallow complexion, regular face, I stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a pray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest 5 is a labourer. Donegal Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of June, 1891, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum:— Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, bl> ck hsjfr cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN TINNELLY ( mother's surname Hollywood), native of Rostrevor, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd Augnst, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, parish of Clonallon, seriously assaulted one Arthur George Stacey of Rostrevor:— Smart active appearance, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark moustache, shaved face, dark bair; wore a dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest. Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th day of August, 1891, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue, embezsled the sum of £ 10 12*. Ad., the property of John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's Countv:— Swaggering gait, was ia the army, sallow complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of agi, fair hair, slight moustache; ware a dark coat; is a van driver. King's, Description of JOHN BURKE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothes, which he is supposed to be wearing— te may pawn the watch N— Visible cut- marks on head and about eyes and nose, four teeth out of left side of mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, full tace, stout make, 6 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; Wore a hard black hat, dark twoed coat, trowsars, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 29th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which ir dark and cut short ; dark eyes, regular nose, dark com plexion, full face, stoat make, 6 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black nat is a farm labourer. Description of THOMAS ROONEY, native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others made amenable) an aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan: High cheek bones, good- looking, dark • yes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. ( 5770 84359.) Mayo. THOMAS MORAHAN ( larceny), Hne- and- Cry, 80th June, not arrested. ( 9068 c.— 89032.) Meath. Description of MURPHY ( supposed fictitious> who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of the 12th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, and stolen therefrom a silver lever hunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn about the toes, a pair of boy's boots nearly new, an old gray dust coat, and two ( 7s.) in silver:— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, wore all his beard, which is dark brown; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. ( 9247 c.— 89331.) FRANCIS BRENNAN ( cattle stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 28th April, not arrested. 7853 o— 87152.) Tipperary. Description of JORN SULLIVAN ( supposed fictitious), native of Toornafulla, county Limerick, who has been arrested on the charge of having, on the 17th August, 1891, in the barony of Upper Ormond, parish of Monsea, feloniously set fire to twenty- five cocks of hay, the property of J. Poe, Esq., Riverston, Nenagh:— Large whitish eyes, large nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a long black worn coat turning green. At pesent in Limerick Gaol cn remand. As this tramp may nave committed offences elsewhere inquiry should be made about his antecedents, and report sent to District Inspector at Nenagh. Description of JOHN ROYCE and MICHAEL SULLIVAN, native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 14th August, 1891, in tbe barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Rathliney, stolen a flannel shirt and drawers, the property of Denis M'Craith, from off his garden hedge, at Craighpoor:— 1. Broad stooped shoulders, speaks with a slight Kerry accent, tender gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, small dark side whiskers and moustache, dark hair; wore a hard black hat, old brown tweed coat, tweed trowsers, mended on knees, and tweed vest; is a labourer. 2. High cheek bones, blue eyes, rather short hose, fair complexion, full round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a soft black hat, brown tweed coat, brown tweed torn trowsars, and dark tweed vest; is a labourer. Tipperary, 17th August, 1891. ( 11148 92603) Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER),/ native of Moher, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1891, in the barony ot Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over the left eye, knocking bim down, and kicking him, thereby placing his life in danger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- ance, keeps his bands in trowsers pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; wore a bright tweed sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. Warrant in hands of police. Dundrum, 6th August, 1891. ( 10959 c — 92283) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipperary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trouaers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Description of JOHN O'CONNOR, native of county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of Templetenny, embezzled the sum of £ 3 17s. 4d.:— Slightly prominent teeth, dark brown eyes, slightly hooked nose, ruddy complexion, mediam make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 47 years of age, black hair tinged with gray: wore an old blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, and an old greasy one- peaked cap; wore a short dirty sandy moustache. Shaves his face, but not oftener than once a Week. Served 11 years in the army, and does not appear to be all right in his head; is a labourer. Informations sworn snd warrant issued for arrest. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th or 6th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Corbally, stolen from the house of Mathew Mara, at Gortnacally, £ 5 2s., and also a snit of tweed clothes and a penknife:— Down- looking, and spots or pimples on face, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complex- ion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hard hat, blue serge coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a labourer ( has a flute, which he plays well). Warrant issued for his arrest. Roscrea, 7th May, 1891. ( 9125 c.— 89125.) Waterford. Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in the Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day :— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyra, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest darker than coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. Description of WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Taghmon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 4th or morning of 5th instant, in the harony of Shelmalier West, parish of Taghmon, burglariously entered the licensed premises of James Keating, Tagh- mon, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 11 9s. Id.:— Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 23 or 24 years ol age. looks younger, brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and discharged soldier. EDWARD GRANNELLS ( indecent assault), Hne- and- Cry, 20th March, not arrested. ( 6878 c— 8506.) PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent assault), Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, not arrested. ( 7017c 85272.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— OWEN REILLY ( 2,339), about 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin; parents dead; a heart tattooed on right forearm; wants last joint of little finger, left band. His brother, James Reilly, resides at 35, Commons- street, Dublin; his brother, William Reilly, at Forest, Cloghran, county Dublin; his sister in High Park Reformatory, Drumcondra ; and bis aunt, Mary Reilly, at Straff an, county Kildare. The school dref8, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue sorge cap, strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. The band uniform with white braid on cap and tunic. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the peism who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on tbe 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow JOHN NOLAN ( 2,310), about 18 or 19 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 20, Townsend street, Dubl; n: parents reside at 28, Moss- street, Dublin; large dinge or hollow on top of his head. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( tbe band uniform, trimmed with white braid), strong nailed boots, No. 5310. Absconded with William Flood and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree:— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place ; marks of sores on his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray twead trowsers, blue serge tuoic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago his uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, resided at 16, Lower Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the baud. The Manager of the Reformatory will defra^ the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. ( 414 H. O.) JOHN KELLY ( young offender), Hue- atd- Cry, 30th Jane, not arrested. ( 395 H. C.) m THE POLICE GAZETTE, OS HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 28, 1891. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict THOS. M'HALE, otherwise JOHN MURPHY, A. 753, convicted at Summer Assizes, Castlebar, county Mayo, on 14th July, 1883, for larceny and former conviction, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 47 years of . age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Bally- hamilton, county Leitrim, resided before conviction at Castlebar; gray hair, gray eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, sallow complexion, oval worn visage, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high; bald on top of head. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison, on licence, 16th July, 1891, and went to Belfast. He has not since reported himself, and his present where- abouts is unknown. He is on licence for the term of his natural life, having been sentenced in 1867 to life penal servitude for barglary and larceny. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 27th August, 1891. ( 418 H. C.) Particulars relative to CoDvict MARY WEIR, B 155, convicted at Enniskiilen Quarter Sessions, county Fermanagh, on 18th November, 1885, for larceny, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 43 years of age on conviction, married, is a laundress, born at Drumshambo, county Leitrim, resided before conviction at Omagh, where her friends reside; brown hair turning gray, blue eyes, light eyebrows, long nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 2f inches high, mark on forehead. This woman was released from Golden Bridge Refuge, on licence, 19th July, 1890, and went to MohilL She reported to the Police at Edgeworths- town, on the 31st ult., that she was going to Dromod, county Leitrim, but she has not reported herself at the latter place, and her present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of her arrest she should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 20th August, 1891. ( 417 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM MURRAY, 0. 126, convicted at Dublin City Com- mission, on 9th February, 1887, fer larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 36 years of age on conviction, married, is a tailor, born at Dublin, resided before conviction at Dublin, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 4 inches high; ship, " W. E. W." on left forearm, ruptured right side, sore mark on right shin. This man was released, on Licence, from Mary- boro' Prison 13th January, 1891, and went to Bel- fast, which place he left on 15th June last, and his present whereabouts cannot be ascertained. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, 17th August, 1891. ( 416 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Particulars of a person whose apprehension is sought:— HENRY ARTHUR BUNN, a dealer, native of Rettendon, Essex; about 24 years of aga, 5 feet 5 or 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, moustache, and small side whiskers, gray eyes, Roman nose, swinging gait,, carries his head forward, is very fond of smoking, usually using a wooden pipe, always writes with his left hand, respectable appearance; dressed when he absconded trom Rettendon, on 17th July, in light check trowsers, short dark jacket and vest, hard felt hat, lace boots, carried a walking- stick. Charged on Warrant with obtaining three heifers by false pretence s lrom Thomas Green, on 11th June. 1891. He may ba in company with a girl about 17, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feet high, dark hair, pale complexion, rather large brown eyes; wore a sailor hat and dark dress.
