Notice. s intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dublin Gas tie, authenticated Ijy a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn • but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. 1 Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the natne of the person m whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform . the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply 0f the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesuid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTK.— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 18th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd Jane, not arrested. ( 8204 c— 88166.) Cavan. Description of PATRICK O'HARA alias JAMES KELLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th August, 1891, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Drumgoon, been found under tuepicious c rcumetances, at d failed to answer satisfactorily for the possession of five pawn tickets for watches which he pawned in Cavan, under the name of James Kelly, and one brace and bit, which he pawned in Cootehill, under the name of Pat O'Hara:— Diminutive appearance, right shoulder dislocated so as to cause a hump, short neck, bald on top of head; small dark eyes, sharp nose, dark sallow complexion, long face, flight make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 46 years of age, dark brown hair and moustache, turning gray ; wore a dark stuff coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a tramp, looks like a tailor. This man is suspected of having committed burglaries or larceries elsewhere, ard is remanded for inquiries to 15th instant. - An, information to be addressed to District Inspector, Bailieboro'. Description of JOHN MOLONY, native of Lissey- neilan, county Clare, who stands charged with having, on the morning of 3rd August, 1891, in the barony of Ibrickan, parish of Kilmurry, committed a rape on Johanna Landers, of Lisseyneilan, county Clare:— Down- looking, slightly pockmarked, slovenly gait, gray eyes, long nose, swarthy complexion, long face, stout make, 6 feet 1 inch high, about 38 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, black frock coat, and gray tweed trowsers; is a navvy on a railway. Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, of Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regnlar face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a gray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Donegal Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of June, 1891, in the barony of Raphce, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum:—- Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, snd vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of Drapers- town, county Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the 1st May, 1891, at Barnesgap Hut, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Kilmacrenan, attempted to poison Sergeant James Maher :— Speaks slowly and with a slight drawl, straight build and active appearance, piercing brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long red face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed two- peaked cap, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, or may be wearing knickerbocker tweed suit; is a constable, R. I. Constabulary. He stood out on bail to appear at Lifford Quarter Sessions to answer the charge, but failed to do so. Letterkenny, 20th Jnne, 1891. ( 9039 c.— 89825.) Description of PATRICK ODLUM, native of Banagher, King's County, who stand* charged with having, on the 5th day of August, 1891, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killimorbollogue, embezzled the sum of £ 10 12*. id., the property of John Hannon, Esq., J. P., Banagher, King's County:— Swaggering gait, was in the army, sallow complexion, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair, slight moustache; wore a dark coat; is a van driver. Description of PATRICK GLEESON, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 10th of August, 1891, in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Kilbride, stolen a suit of clothes and Is., the property of one Patrick Coghlan, from a lodging- houso in Tullamore:— Bald on top of head, military appearance, speaks with an American accent; large light brown eyes, regular nose, fair comploxion, long thin hardy face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches bigb, about 50 years af age, brown hair, shaves all tie face except small fair moustache; wore a brown hard hat, black jacket, and dark tweed trowsers; is a tramp. This man served in the army, and calls on army pensioners for assistance; he is likely to be wearing the stolen clothes, which are of the following description:— Black cloth morning coat, bound with braid, and turning green; black serge vest, gray tweed trowsers, having narrow black stripe, suspenders attached; all value for about £ 2. Description of JOHN BURKE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothe?, which he is supposed to be wearing— be may pawn the watch:— Visible cut- marks on head and about eyes and nose, four teeth out of left side of mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 2^ th day of June, 18 -> 1, in tbe barony of Loughinshollin, parish of Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is dark and cut short | dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches nigh, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black bat; is a farm labourer. Description of THOMAS ROONEY, native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others made amenable) an aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan:— High cheek bones, good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. Description of THOMAS RYAN ( DANEHER), native of Mober, who stands charged with having, on the 5th August, 1891, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted one William English, by striking him with a stone over the left eye, knocking him down, and kicking him, thereby placing his life in danger:— Down- looking treacherous appear- ance, keeps his hands in trowsers pockets, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full face, very stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 24 or 25 years of age, dark brown hair, no beard or whiskers, small black moustache; wore a bright tweed sack coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer. Warrant in hands of police. Dundrum, 6th August, 1891. ( 10959 c — 92283) Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 15th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm ; is a tramp, Warrant for his arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in tho barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen fonr yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dundrum, 9th June, 1891. ( 9785 c.— 90182.) Description of JOHN O'CONNOR, native of county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Iflfa and Offa East, parish of Templetenny, embezzled the sum of £ 3 17s. 4d.:— Slightly prominent teeth, dark brown eyes, slightly hooked nose, ruddy complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, about 47 years of age, black hair tinged with gray : wore an old blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, and an old greasy one- peaked cap; wore a short dirty sandy moustache. Shaves his face, but not oftener than once a week. Served 11 years in the army, and does not appear to be all right in his head; is a labourer. Informations sworn and warrant issued for arrest. Carrick on- Suir, 12th May, 1891. ( 9202 c.— 89263.) Description of JOHN KELLY, native of King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th or 6th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Corbally, stolen from the house of Mathew Mara, at Gortnacally, £ 5 2s., and also a suit of tweed clothes and a penknife:— Down- looking, and spots or pimples on face, blue eyes, regular no? e, fair complex- ion, round face, stoat make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hard hat, blue serge coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a labourer ( has a flute, which he plays well). Warrant issued for his arrest. Roscrea, 7th May, 1891. ( 9185 c.— 89125.) Meath. Description of MURPHY ( supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of the 12th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, and stolen therefrom a silver lever bunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn about the toes, a pair of boy's boots nearly new, an old gray dust coat, and two ( 9s.) in silver:— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, wore all his beard, which is dark brown; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. The watch has been found in a pawn office in Dublin. Warrant issued. Slane, 20th June, 1891. ( 9924 c.— 90570). Waterford. Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in tha Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day:— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest darker thaa coat, but is suspected of having got new clothes. He is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go. Warrant issued for his arrest. Portlaw, 29th June, 1891. ( 10167 c. - 90861.) Westmeath. Wexford^^ Description of WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Taghmon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 4th or morning of 5th instant, in the barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Taghmon, burglariously entered the licensed premises of James Keating, Tagh- mon, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 11 9s. Id.:— Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 23 or 24 years ol age, looks younger, brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and discharged soldier. EDWARD GRANNELLS ( indecent assault), Hue- and- Cry, 20th March, not arrested. ( 6878 c— 8506.) PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent assault), Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, not arrested. ( 7017c 85273.) Wicklow. Description of the undernamed Young Offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— OWEN REILLY ( 2,339), about 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches higb, stout make, fresh oomplexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary moutb, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin; parent? dead; a heart tattooed on right forearm; wants last joint of little finger, left hand. His brother, James Reilly, resides at 35, Commons- street, Dublin; his brother, William Reilly, at Forest, Cloghran, county Dublin; his sister in High Park Reformatory, Drumcondra ; and hi3 aunt, Mary Reilly, at Straffan, county Kildare. The school dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap, strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. The band uniform with white braid on cap and tunic. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. ( 414 H. O.) Description cf tbe undernamed young offender, who, on tbe 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— JOHN NOLAN ( 2,310), about 18 or 19 years of age, locks younger, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, large nose, ordinary month, oval visage; formerly belonged to 20, Townsend sireet, Dublin; parents reside at 28, Moss- street, Dublin; large dinge or hollow on top cf his head. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray tweed trousers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the batid uniform, trimmed with white braid), strong nailed boots, No. 2310. Absconded with William Flood and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. Tho Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may caoture him with £ 1. 6 th August, « 891. ( 414 H. O.) , Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree :— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 or 18 years ot age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, ordinary make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Townsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place ; marks of sores on his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray twead trosrsers, blue serge tunic, blue serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago his uncle, Thomas Matthews, a sail- maker, reside 1 at 16, Lower Gloucester- street, Dublin. Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. ( 414 H. O.) JOHN KELLY ( yonng offender) Hu.- and- Cry, 30th June, not arrested. ( 395 H. C.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OS HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 18, 1891. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. 6 Division. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM MURRAY, 0. 126, convicted at Dublin City Com- mission, on 9th February, 1887, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 86 years ^ pf age on conviction, married, is a tailor, born at DuBUS^ fes'ded before conviction at Dublin, where his friends reside; brown hair, brown eyes, brown eyebrows, regular nose, email mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 4 inches high; ship, " W. E. W." on left forearm, ruptured right side, sora mark on right shin. This man was released, on Licence, from Mary- boro' Prison 13th January, 1891, and went to Bel- fan, which place he left on 15th Jane last, and his present whereabouts cannot be ascertained. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, 17th August, 1891. ( 416 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money undar false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, largo mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium mate, 5 feet inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulccrated, This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 23rd July, 1891. ( 410 HC.) ENGLISH POLICE. Durham. Particulars of a person whose apprehension is sought :_ HENRY ARTHUR BUNN, a dealer, native of Rettendon, Essex; about 24 years of ega, 5 feet 5 or 5 fett 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, moustache, and email side whiskers, gray eyes, Roman nose, swinging gait, carries his head forward, is very fond of smoking, usually using a wooden pipe, always writes with his left hand, respectable appearance; dressed when he absconded from Rettendon, on 17th July, in light check trowsers, short dark jacket and vest, hard felt hat, laee boots, carried a walking- stick. Charged on Warrant with obtaining three heifers by false pretence i from Thomas Green, on 11th June. 1891. He may be iu company with a girl about 17, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feel high, dark hair, pala complexion, rather large brown ores; wore a sailor hat and dark dress.
