DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full lace, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark- brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE— Arrest cannot be legally made without Warrant. Belfast, lfith April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 o— 88166.) Cork. Description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, ot Bownahulla, by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, owe of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him:— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a eray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd dav oi Jnne, 1891, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum:— Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of Drapers- town, county Londonderry, who stands charged with having, on the 1st May, 1891, at Barnesgap Hut, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Kilmacrenan, attempted to poison Sergeant James Maher:— Speaks slowly and with a slight drawl, straight build and active appearance, piercing brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long red face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed two- peaked cap, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, or may be wearing knickerbocker tweed suit; is a constable, R. I. Constabulary. He stood out on bail to appear at LifFord Quarter Sessions to answer the charge, but failed to do so. Letterkenny, 20th June, 1891. ( 9039 c.— 89825.) Description of PATRICK DOUGLAS alias M'PARLAND ( mother's surname M'Parland), and JOHN DEVLIN ( mother's surname M'Parland), natives of Loughbrickland, who stand charged with having, on the night of 30th June- or morning of 1st July, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, upper half, parish of Seapatrick, broken into an unoccupied dwelling- house of Catherine Quinn, Tullyear, and stolen sundry articles of furniture and a suit of men's clothing, all of which have been recovered :— 1. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age. dark brown hair; wore a bluish cap, dark tweed jacket, Windsor cord trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farm labourer, and served in the Army. 2. Walks with a swaggering gait, and holds down his head, blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, freckled com- plexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair, shaves all his face except a small fair moustache; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed jacket, moleskin trowsers, and brown tweed vest; is a farm labourer. Warrant issued, and in hands of D. I., Banbridge. Banbridge, 5th July, 1891. ( 10276 c— 91079.) Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 27th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the dwelling- house of James M'Bride, one nblong gold brooch set with rubies, one square gold brooch with hair in it, a gold oval locket, hair inside, gold breast- pin, set with a ruby, and a silver medal, marked " Good Conduct" :— Sallow complexion, sunburnt face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round felt hat, red necktie and no collar, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, boots turned up at toes, steel watch guard; has a tramping appearance. Description of Corporal JAMES BALLANCE, Royal Engineers, native of Cbapelizod, county Dublin- where his mother resides, who stands charged with having, on the 11th June. 1891, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen a theodolite, 5- inch, No. 197, and marked with letters " W. D.," and enclosed in a mahogany case, also a sum of £ 22 8s. 9d., the property of Her Majesty;— Well set- up, smart military appearance, shaves all his face except moustache which is brown, hazel eyes, clear complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair.^ Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the D. Description of HUGH WARD, native of Raphoe, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 4th June, 1891, in the barony of Irraghticonnor, parish of Kilnaughtin, embezzled a sum of money received by him ( or his master, John Cohoon, of Rathkeale, county Limerick:— Blue eyes, regular nose, freckled complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark red curly hair; wore a black hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, carries Inverness waterproof coat; is a tea van driver. Description of a MAN, name and n live place nnlnonn, who stands charged with having, on tve 3rd day of August, 1891, in the barony of Gowran, parish of St. John's, committed a rape on Ellen Monck, of Kilkenny:— May lave marks of bites on bands or fingers, reddish complexion, red fnll face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a round black felt hat, dark tweed coat, and dark vest; supposed to be a militiaman. Description of JOHN BURKE, native place nnknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothe', which he is supposed to be wearing— te may pawn the watch:— Visible cut- marks on head and abont eye3 and cose, four teeth out of left side cf mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, fnll face, etout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; wore a hard black bat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's snr- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged with having, on the 2^ lh day of Jnne, 1891, in the barony of Lcugbinshollin, parish cf Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon one Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except moustache, which is dark and cut short > dark eyes, regular nos% dark com- plexion, fnll face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black bat; is a farm labourer. Description of THOMAS ROONEY, native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others m.-. de amenable) an aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan:— High cheek bones, good- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches higb, about 23 years of age, dark hairi wore a dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwillian, parish of Tipparary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody:— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small note, red complexion, very thin facs, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm ; is a tramp, Warrant for lis arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches higb, about 32 years of age, dark heir; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Description of JOHN O'CONNOR, nativo of county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of Templetenny, embezzled tbe sum of £ 3 17,*. Ad.:— Slightly prominent teeth, dark brown eyes, slightly hooked nose, ruddy complexion, mediam make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, about 47 years of age, black hair tinged with gray : wore an old blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, and an old greasy one- peaked cap; wore a short dirty sandy moustache. Shaves his face, but not oftener than once a week. Served 11 years in the army, and do « s not appear to be all right in his head; is a labourer. Informations sworn and warrant issued for arrest. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th or 6th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish % f Corbally, stolen from the house of Mathew Mara, at Gortnacally, £ 5 2s., and also a suit of tweed clothes and a penknife:— Down- looking, and spots or pimples on face, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complex- ion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a bard hat blue serge coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a labourer ( has a flute, which ho plays well). Description of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in the Carrick- on- suir National Bank on the same day:— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, bine eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, abont 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vast darker than coat, but is suspected ot having got new clothes. He is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go Warrant issued for his arrest. Portlaw, 29th Jane, 1891. ( 10167 c.— 90861.) Meath. Description of MURPHY ( supposedfictitious), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of tbe 12th Jnne, 1891, in tho barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, and stolen therefrom a silver lever hunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn abont the toes, a pair of boy's boots nearly now, an old gray dust coat, and two ( Vs.) in silver:— Stout make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, wore all his beard, which ii datk brown ; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp. Desciiption of tie undernamed Young Offender, who. on the 5th Angust, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklow:— OWEN REILLY ( 2,339), about 18 or 19 years of age. 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches higb, stont make, fresh complexion, brown hair, bine eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, round visage; formerly belonged to Santry, county Dublin; parents dead; a besrt tattooed on right forearm ; wants last joint of little finger, left hand. His brother, James Reilly, resides at 35, Commons- street, Dublin ; his brother, William Reilly. at Forest, Cloghran, county Dublin; lit sister in High Park Reformatory. Drnmccndra ; and bis aunt, Mary Reilly, at Strafian, county Kildare. The school dress, all with the Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Gray tweed trowsers, blue s « rge tunic, blue s'ree cap, strong nailed boots, No. 2,339. The bond uniform with white braid on csp and tunic. The Manager of ( he Reformatory will defray the expenses of Lis conveyance, if amsted, to the nearest Justice on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description cf WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Taghmon, who stands cbargod with having, on the night of 4th or morning of 5th instant, in tbe barony of Shelmalier West, parish of Taghmon, burglariously entered the licensed premises of James Keating, Tagh- mon, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 11 9s. Id.: Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 23 or 24 years ol age, looks younger, brown hair j wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and discharged soldier. EDWARD GRANNELLS ( indecent assault), Hne- and- Cry, 20th March, not arrested. ( 6878 c— 8506.) PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent assault), Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, not arrested. ( 7017c.— 85272.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on tbe 5th August, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School at Glencree, county Wicklcw :— JOHN NOLAN ( 2,310), about 18 or 19 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, largo nose, ordinary month, oval visage; formerly belonged to 20, Townsend street, Dubl'n: parents reside at 28, Moss- street, Dublin; large dinge or hollow on top cf his head. The school drees, all with Reformatory stamp, cor- sists of gray tweed trowsers, blue serge tunic, blui serge cap ( the band uniform, trimmed with white braid), strong nailed boots, No. £ 310. Absconded with William Flood and Owen Reilly. The three boys belonged to the band. Tbe Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice on remand, « nd will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. Description of tbe undernamed yonng offender, who, on the 5th August, 1891, alsconfled from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree:— WILLIAM FLOOD ( 2,286), about 17 cr 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 cr 5 inches higb, ordinary make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, regular nose, ordinary mcutb, oval visage; formerly belonged to 161, Towrsend- street, Dublin, parents reside at same place ; marks of sores cn his neck. The school dress, all with Reformatory stamp, con- sists of gray twoad trowsers, blue serge tunic, bine serge cap ( the bard uniform, trimmed with white braid), elastic- side boots, No. 2,286. Some time ago lis uncle, Thomas Matthews. a car- maker, resided at 16, lower Gloucester- street, Dublin Absconded with John Nolan and Owen Reilly. Tha three toys telorged to the land. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of bis confoyance, if arrested, to tbe necrest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 6th August, 1891. JOHN KELLY ( young offender), 30th Jane, not arrested. ( 414 H. C.) Hue- and- Cry, ( 395 H. c.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. a Division. Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Ennis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, brown eyes, light brown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high; small flesh mark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Monntjoy Convict Prison on 18th May, 1891, and went to reside in Roscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 29 City- quay, Dublin, on 19th June. He has recently left his Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt witb under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., c| p. 112. 23rd July, 1891. ( 410 H c.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OS HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 7, 1391. Description of ROBERT H. DENSMORE, late Acting Sergeant, R. I. O., Depot, Pheonix Park, who / is wanted on Warrant for obtaining several gold watches by false pretences from jewellers in this city, during tbe past two months:— He is a5) years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, square shoulders, fair com- plexion, inclined to be pale, fair hair, turning gray, shaves all his face except moustache, which is usually pointed at ends, bald on top of head; wore a dark serge morning coat, dark trowsers, and round black hat. He is a native of Kells, county Antrim, and absconded from R. I. C. Depot on night of 10th instant. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent. 12th May, 1891. ( 397 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Essex; about 24 years of sgs, 6 feet 5 or 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, monstache, and small side whiskers, gray eyes, Roman nose, swinging gait, carries his head forward, is very fond of smoking, nsually using a wooden pipe, always Writes with his left hand, respectable appearance; dressed when he absconded from Rettendon, on 17th July, in light check trowsers, short dark jacket and vest, bard felt bat, lace boots, carried a walking- stick. Charged on Warrant with obtaining three heifers by false pretences from Thomas Green, on 11th Jnne. 1891. He may be in company with a girl about 17, 4 feet 10 inches or 5 feet high, dark hair, pale complexion, rather large brown eyes; wore a sailor hat and dark dress.
