All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whoso apprehension ia sought on a oharge of Misdemeanour Bhould be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thia nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *** Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give tho number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Polioo Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, dso., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of tho " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full tace, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 yearB of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot he legally made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, 1891. Carlow. MICHAEL TIMMINS ( serious assault), Hue- and- Cry, 23rd June, not arrested. ( 8204 c— 88166.) Jl Cork. description of TIMOTHY DRISCOLL, native of Drimoleague, who stands charged with having, on the 7th and 8th June, 1891, in the barony of E. D. W. Carbery, parish of Drimoleague, attacked the dwell- ing- house of Denis M'Carthy, oi Bownahulla. by throwing stones at it, which broke three panes of glass, one of the stones which were thrown striking Denis M'Carthy in the face and wounding him :— Gray eyes, regular nose, dark sallow complexion,, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a eray cap, gray tweed coat, brown trousers, gray tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of THOMAS FERRY, native of Derry City, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of June, 1391, in the barony of Raphoe, parish of Killed, committed a rape on Margaret Rankin, of Kildrum Square shoulders, walks erect, dark mou- stache, dark eyes, straight nose, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair cut short; wore a tweed cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer; a returned Ameri- can. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of Drapers- town, county Londonderry, who stands charged wilh having, on the let May, 1891, at Barnesgap Hut, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Kilmacrenan, attempted to poison Sergeant James Maher :— Speaks slowly and with a slight drawl, straight build and active appearance, piercing brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, long red face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a light tweed two- peaked cap, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, or may be wearing knickerbocker tweed suit; is a constable, R. I. Constabulary. He stood out on bail to appear at Lifford Quarter Sessions to answer the charge, but failed to do so. Letterkenny, 20th June, 1891. ( 9039 c.— 89825.) Description of PATRICK DOUGLAS alias M'PARLAND ( mother's surname M'Parland), and JOHN DEVLIN ( mother's surname M'Parland), natives of Loughbrickland, who stand charged with having, on the night of 30th June or morning of 1st July, 1891, in the barony of Iveagh Upper, upper half, parish of Seapatrick, broken into an unoccupied dweiling- house of Catherine Quinn, Tullyear, and stolen sundry articles of furniture and a suit of men's clothing, all of which have been recovered:— 1. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regnlar face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a bluish cap, dark tweed jacket* Windsor cord trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farm labourer, and served in the Army. 2. Walks with a swaggering gait, and holds down his head, blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, freckled com- plexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair bair, shaves all his face except a small fair moustache; wore a brown tweed cap, brown tweed jacket, moleskin trowsers, and brown tweed vest; is a farm labourer. Warrant issued, and in hands of D. I., Banbridge. Baabridge, 5th July, 1891. ( 10276 c— 91079.) Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 27th Jnne. 1891, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Holywood, stolen from the dwelling- house of James M'Bride, one oblong gold brooch set with rubies, one square gold brooch with hair in it, a gold oval locket, hair inside, gold breast pin, set with a ruby, and a silver medal, marked " Good Conduct":— Sallow complexion, sunburnt face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round felt hat, red necktie and no col'ar, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, boots turned up at toes, steel watch guard; has a tramping appearance. Description of Corporal JAMES BALLANCE, Royal Engineers, native of Cbapelizod, county Dublin, where his mother resides, who stands charged with having, on the 11th June, 1891, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen a theodolite, 5- inch, No. 197, and marked with letters « W. D.," and enclosed in a mahogany case, also a sum of £ 22 8*. 9d. y the property of Her Majesty ;— Well set- up, smart military appearance, shaves all his face except moustache which is brown, hazel eyes, clear complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark brown hair. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the D. I. at Tralee. Tralee, 15th June, 1891. ( 9902 o.— 90393.) Description of HUGH WARD, native of Raphoe, county Donegal, who stands charged with having, on the 4th June, 1891, in the barony of Irraghticonnor, parish of Kilnaughtin, embezzled a sum of money received by him for his master, John Cohoon, of Rathkeale, county Limerick:— Blue eyes, regular nose, freckled complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark red curly hair; wore a black hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers and vest, carries Inverness waterproof coat; is a tea van driver. Description of JOHN BURKE, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of June, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen a lady's silver Geneva watch and silver Albert chain, and also a suit of dark tweed clothe?, which he is supposed to be wearing— l. e may pawn the watch:— Visible cut- marks on head and about eyes and noae, four teeth out of left side cf mouth, gray eyes, broad nose, fresh complexion, full face, stout mat e, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, dark moustache; wore a hard black hat, dark twoed coat, trowsors, and vest; is a private, York and Lancaster Regiment. Limerick, WILLIAM FITZGERALD ( charged with murder) Hue- acd- Cry, 12th May, has not been arrested. ( 98360 86735.) Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DELANEY, native of Holycross, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of July, 1891, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, and town of Tipparary, when under arrest for larceny of whiskey from a dwelling, escaped from custody :— Blotches on face, very sharp manner of speaking; gray eyes, very small nose, red complexion, very thin lace, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore an old tweed coat, dark trowsers, and old vest; shabby clothes, coat torn on left arm; is a tramp, Warrant for bis arrest with District Inspector, Tipperary. Description of PATRICK DWYER, native of Grovestown, Dundrum, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th June, 1891, at Ballygur- rane, in the barony of Kilnamanagh, Lower, parish of Oughterleague, stolen four yearling cattle, the pro- perty of Rhody Dwyer, off his farm at Ballygurrane: — Delicate looking, stands erect, shaves all face except slight moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown hat with crape band, plaid sack coat, black cloth trousers, plaid vest; is a clerk. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dundrum, 9th June, 1891. ( 9785 c,— 90182 ) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GEORGE FRAZER, c 23, convicted at Eanis- killen Quarter Sessions, on 18th November, 1885, for obtaining money under false pretences ( 4 counts), and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude ; 23 years of age on conviction, can read and write, is a Roman Catholic, single, is a servant, prison trade a tailor, born near Nenagh, his friends reside in Roscrea:— Fair hair, brown eyes, light trown eyebrows, regular and long nose, large mouth, prominent under- lip, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 3J inches high; small flesh irark on left arm, cut- scar back of head, calf of left leg ulcerated. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Convict Prison on l'- th May, 1891, and went to reside in lloscrea, county Tipperary, from whence he moved to 2 J City- quay, luMin, on 19th June. He has recently left bis Dublin lodgings without notifying his change of residence to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 23id July, 1891. ( 410 n. a) Description of ROBERT H. DENSMORE, late Acting Sergeant, R. I. C., Depot, Phoenix Park, who is wanted on Warrant for obtaining several gold watches by false pretences from jewellers in this city, during the past two months:— He is 39 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, square shoulders, fair com- plexion, inclined to be pale, fair hair, turning gray, shaves all his face except moustache, which is usually pointed at ends, bald on top of head; wore a dark serge morning coat, dark trowsers, and round black hat. He is a native of Kells, county Antrim, and absconded from R. I. C. Depot on night of 10th instant. Warrant in the hands of the Chief Superintendent. 12th May, 1891. ( 897 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Durham. MAGNUS PATTISON IRWIN, ( embezzlement), Hue- aad- Cry 7th July, not arrested. ( 401 H. C.) Essex. Particulars of EDWIN HUDSON, an Advertising Canvasser, believed to be a native of West Ham, Essex, mother now resides at Norwich, who, on the 30th January, 1891, arid other dates since, to 12th March, embezzled SUE dry sums of money, he then being a clerk or servant to Messrs. Meegy and Thompson, Newspaper Proprietors, Chelmsford :—. 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, about 15 stone weight, fair complexion, slightly blotched face, light brown hair, grayish blue eyes, light moustache, short side whiskers; had rather a bloated appear- ance ; is a great smoker; walks erect, but slightly knock kneed. Believed to be well known at Mitcham, surrey; wore a black hard hat, rough jacket and waistcoat, light trowsers, sometimes a cape overcoat. Likely to seek employment as advertising canvasser in tea trade or for newspapers. Warrant issaed. A photo can be seen on applica- tion to the Deputy Chief Constable of Essex, Chelmsford, who holds the Warrant. 23rd July, 1891. ( 411 n. c) Wanted at Chelmsford, charged on a Warrant with having, on 2nd July, stolen a pony, cart, harness, & e. ( recovered), which be had hired:— Aman. wbo gave the name of WILLIAM BONNER, and described himself as a coach builder, of Church- street, Chelsea, where he stated his son was living and carrying on a business. He is described as about 62 > ears of age or more, about 5 feet 2 or 3 inches biph, sallow complexion, hair and whiskers grey, moustache a little darker, clipped short; shaved on cMn, dressed in solt black billycock, black ribbed serge suit, shabby; whte India rubber collar, black necktie. He carried a brown walking- stick with large knob at end, and was an inveterate snuff taker, and drank only Port wine, Tte left side of his mouth turns up, and he has a long tooth in his upper jaw, believed to be the eyo- tooth on left side. He gave the name of JEMMY REED, of 14, hlcueh- place, Chingforl, to the person to whom he sold the above propeity. He stopped at a public- house at Chelmsford on 1st July, and made himself very agreeable to the company, treating anyone, and appearing to have plenty of cash. He left Chelms- ford by the 9.25 P. M. train for London, on Thurs- day evening, 2nd July. This man is identical with man described in " Police Gazette," 5th June ( Case 75), 12th June ( Case 67), 3rd July ( Ces> 16). He sometimes assumes the name of BALCOMBE. Jk It is paitimlarly requested that eveiy search alur* enquiry may be made fcr this man, who is evidently a notorious horse- stealor ( atd it is believed an old convict). If any information obtained, communicate with undersigned, who holds the Warrant. He will probably stay at some respectable publichouse, or obtain lodgings at a private house, as he tried to do this when he came to chelmsford. R. Somerset, Deputy Chief Constable, fith July, 1891. Description of PATRICK DOUGAN ( mother's sur- name O'Neill) native of Rocktown, who stands charged w. th having, on the 2' th day of June, 18s 1, in the barony of Loughinshollin, parish cf Maghera, com- mitted an aggravated assault upon ono Robert Porter:— Shaves all his face except mcuiteche, which is dark and cut short; dark eyes, regular nesi, dark com- plexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; were a darkish gray coat, dark trowsers and vest, and hard black nat; is a farm labourer. Magherafelt, 6th Jnly, 1891. ( 10313 c.— 91142.) Description of THOMAS ROONEY, native of Killybearn, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Derryloran, committed ( with others made amenable) on aggravated assault on one Alexander Hagan:— High cheek bones, gocd- looking, dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, gray trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a farmer's son. A Warrant is in hands of Police at Moneymore for this man's arrest. Magherafelt, 4th June, 1891. ( 9332 c 90024.) ( 5770 84359. Mayo. THOMAS MORAHAN ( larceny), Hue- and- Cry, 30th J une, not arrested. ( 9068 89032.) Meath. Description of MURPHY ( supposed fictitious), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 11th or morning of the 12th June, 1891, in the barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Julianstown, burglariously entered the dwelling- house of John Brangan, of Menistown, and stolen therefrom a silver lever hunting watch ( No. 5449), a pair of elastic boots, much worn about the toes, a pair of boy's boots nearly new, an old gray dust coat, and two (?*.) ia l silver:— Stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 j ears of age, wore all his beard, which ii dark brown; wore a scotch cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vejt; is a tiairip. PATRICK LEONARD ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 12th June, not arrested. ( 8615 o.— 88270.) Roscommon. JOHN DALY ( homicide), Hue- and- Cry, 22nd May, has not been arrested. ( 9247 c — 89331.) FRANCIS BRENNAN ( cattle stealing), Hue- end- Cry, 28th April, not arrested. 7863 Q.— 87152.) Description of JOHN O'CONNOR, native of county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Offa East, parish of Templetenny, embezzled the sum of £ 3 17s. 4rf.:— Slightly prominent teeth, dark brown eyes, slightly hooked nose, ruddy complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 47 years of age, black hair tinged with gray : wore an old blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, and an old greasy one- peaked cap; wore a short dirty sandy moustache. Shaves his face, but not oftener than once a week. Served 11 years ia the army, and does not appoar to be all right in his head; is a labourer. Informations sworn and warrant issued for arrest. Description cf JOHN KELLY, native of King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th or 6th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Corbally, stolen from the house of Mathew Mara, at Gortnacally, £ 5 2s., and also a suit of tweed clothes and a penknife:—. Down- looking, and spots or pimples on face, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complex- ion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a hard hat, blue serge coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a labourer ( has a flute, which he plays well). Warrant issued for his arrest. Roscrea, 7th May, 1891. ( 9125 89125.) Waterford. Desoription of JOHN JOSEPH WALSH, native of Knocknacreha, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd June, 1891, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Rathgormac, forged his father's name, Matthias Walsh, to a cheque for the sum of £ 12, which he stole, and cashed in the Carrick- on- Suir National Bank on the same day:— Small red spot on side of nose close to eye, blue eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 15 years of age, looks older, light brown hair; wore a light tweed coat, tweed trowaar s and vest darker than coat, but is suspected of havin g got new clothes. He is suspected of having sailed for America, and if not gone, will probably try to go. Warrant issued for his arrest. Portlaw, 29th June, 1891. ( 10167 c.— 90861.) Westmeath. Description cf WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Taghmon, who stands charged with having, on the night of 4th or morning of 5th instant, in the barony of Shelmslier West, parish of Taghmon, burglariously entered the licensed premises of James Keating, Tagh- mon, and stolen therefrom the sum cf £ 11 9s. Id.:— Blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 23 or 24 years ol age, looks younger, brown hair; wore a jerry hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer and discharged soldier. ( 7017c 85279.) Wicklow. JOHN KELLY ( young offender) Hu<- ard- Cry, 80th Jane, not arrest ad, ( 390 H. C.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 28, 1891. Stolen at Chelmsford, on 1 st July, 1891, by EDGAR BRAND, alias RICHARDSON, alias JOHN BARNES, described below :— About £ 6 in money, viz:— One sovereign, one half sovereign, one half- crown, one shilling, one sixpence, all Jubilee ; a five- shilling piece, yeai- not known, one sovereign of 1891, also a metal watch chain, glow- worm or snake pattern, with a silver padlock attached, also one pair of flannel pants with red band at top. One razor with white handle, supposed to have tie name of Addy on it. One small razor strop, shaving brash; snd pair of low shoes with toe- caps, half soled not long ago, which latter the thief is believed to be wearing. Dress :— Light coat and waist- coat, dark striped trowsers, black hard hat. BRAND was sentenced to 12 months at Chelmsford Sessions, 19th February, 1890, on three charges of larceny, at Ilford. He stated be was a native of Nor- wich, and a clerk by occupation. Plesse cause every search and inquiry for this man, and if fcund, arrest and wire to undersigned. He slated be had lately been working a planing machine, his trowsers and waistcoat hear marks of grease or oil. He has a scar inside his right wrist which he siid was caused by a cut from this machine. He stated be was fond of bicycling. K." and barp tattooed on right forearm, cross and anchor on left forearm, and ship on chest; native of Killala, county Mayo, Ireland, and speaks with a strong Irish accent, is of smart appearance; has served 6 years in the Royal Irish Regiment of Foot, and is now in the Army reserve; dressed when last seen in light check nloth peak cap, worn beck of head, blue Uniform trowsers, and black worsted cloth jacket; supposed to have in his possession a fine black worsted cloth cost and vest and a pair of blue and black striped trowsers ( new), which he may now be wearing. For a short time previous to joining the police he was employed as a cib- driver at Chorlton- cum- Hardy, Manchester. Will probably endeavour to leave tbe country.
