No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn • but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General No'tices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of » n aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons^ whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of tbe. person in whose hands it is. Rut the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of nature unless they have the Warrant in their possessitjp when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of lie Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thla Information the mistake cannot be rectified. 1 Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the Abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim, Description of the under- named young offender, who, on the 19th April 1891, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast :— I. ANDREW GRAHAM, 18 years of age, light brown hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, straight nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high; is a tailor; born at Partick, near Glasgow; scar under each eye, dot of ' ink on each hand near thumb; dressed in dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, blue Glengarry cap, blue and white striped shirt, red and black check tie, Blucher boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward tbe person who may capture him with £ 1. 27th April, 1891. ( 393 H. C.) Belfast. Description of EDWARD S. W. DE COBAIN, native of Belfast, who stands charged that he did, within the past two years, at Belfast, commit an act of gross indecency with another male person, and within the same time, and at the place aforesaid did incite divers' other male persons to commit sodomy:— Walks erect, square shoulders, corpulent, contracts eyebrows when speaking, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 48 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a silk hat, black Chesterfield overcoat, black frock coat, dark trowsers, and dark vest; is a Member of Parliament. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Detective Department, Belfast, to whom information should be sent. NOTE.— Arrest cannot be legal y made without Warrant. Belfast, 15th April, l891. Carlow. Description of MICHAEL TIMMINS ( mother's surname Maher), native of Bannagagole, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of March, 1891, in tbe barony of Idrone West, parish of Wells, seriouslv assaulted one Ellen Hanlon, by kicking her in the abdomen, and thereby placing her life in danger. This man was bailed to take his trial on above charge at Carlow Quarter Sessions on the 9th instant, but failed to put in an appearance; his present where- abouts are unknown :— Gray or blue eyes, thick nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 21 years of age, black hair t wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; down- looking sullen appearance j is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK HANLY, native of Mullrook West, who stands charged with having, on the 8th May, 1891, in the barony of Dunkellin, parish of Kilcolgan, seriously assaulted Thomas O'Leary, of Clarenbridge, thereby placing his life in danger :— Broad face and large forehead; fresh com- plexion, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years ot age brown hair; wore a flannel jacket, fUnnel trowsers, and flannel vest; is a fisherman. Warrant issued lor his arrest, Gort, 16th May, 1891. ( 9 21 c — 89449.) Description of J. J. GRIFFIN, native place un- known, who stands charged with having, on two occasions within the last two years, in the barony of Athenry, parish of Athenry, falsely pretended that he was collecting subscriptions for the Dominican Order in Dublin, and there and then, by means of such false pretences, did obtain money from divers persons :— Fresh oomplexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 30 years of age. dark hair; was dressed in the garb of a Roman Catholic priest, and wore a dark waterproof overcoat with cape; is a tutor. He gave his address as " 24 Palmerston- place, Dublin," and the " Franciscan Convent, Athlone." He is known to the police at Mullingar and Athlone. Warrant issued for his arrest. Description of MICHAEL MATHEWS, native of Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of May, 1891, in tbe barony of Kilconnell, parish of Kilconnell, absconded with £ 16 entrusted to him by his master, the Rev. B. Irwin, of Kilconnell, for the purpose of purchasing a cow at the fair of Cappataggle :— Near sighted, squints, irregular teeth, turns in his toes when walking, shaved face, fair moustache, blue eyes, hooked nose, fair complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, very fair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, hard brown hat; is a labourer. Description of JAMES MANNING, native of county Meath, who stands charged with having, on the 10th day of February, 1891, in the barony of Magonihy, parish of Killarney, committed wilful and corrupt perjury:—- Three teeth lo3t from front of mouth, stoopad shoulders, short side whiskers, no moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy hair turning gray; wore a hard black hat, gray sack coat, gray trowaers, and vest; rather good looking, pretty well dressed, looks like a well- to- do farmer; is a caretaker on Lind Cor- poration farm. Description of PATRICK KELLY, native of Dublin City, who stands charged witb having, on the 30th March, 1891, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Tully, stolen from the dwellinghouse of John Dempsey, one pair of boots and seven shillings and sixpence:— Carbuncles on face, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, abont 26 years of age, sandy hair; wore a gray plaid coat, barracan trowsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. This man may now be in a Dublin Hospital as a patient, as it is believed he was suffering from some disease of the skin. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, at Kildare. Kildare, 16th April, 1891. Description of MICHAEL SUNTERS ( mother's surname Leyden), native of Derrinketer ( Roycroft), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 8th of April, 1891, in the barony of Carrigallen, parish of Oughteragh, been found in an outhouse, belonging to Patrick Guckian, of same townland, at 11 o'clock, P. M., armed with a loaded gun, with intent to commit felony :— Said to be half witted; gray or bine eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, small round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a bard hat, gray cost, trowsers, and vest; is a farm servant. ( 5770 84359.) Mayo. Description of THOMAS MORAHAN ( mother's surname Morohan), native of Mount Daisy. Castlebar, who stands charged with having, on the 18th March, 1891, in the barony of Carra, parish of Aglish, stolen a quantity of tobacco from the premises of the Midland Great Western Railway Company, at Castlebar, said tobacco being the property of one Patrick Staunton, of Castlebar *— Weak- kneed, bends forward in knees, gray or blue eyes, ordinary nose, fair complexion, thin face, iredium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a dark coarse tweed cost and dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. If working wears ordinary dress of labourer. This man form* rly worked in Chemical Manure Manufactories in England, and has relatives in Widnes. He went to England on 19th March. Description of IGNATIUS HOBSON ( mother's surname Rabbit), native of connty Meath, who stands charged with having, on or about the 16th April, 1891, in tbe barony of Upper Deece, parish of Gallow, wilfnlly and maliciously cut and destroyed growing trees snd shrubs at Ferran's Lock Station, M. G. W. Railway, value for about £ 5 :— Sullen appearance; dark eyes, short nose, sallow complexion, lresh face, medinm make, 6 feet inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair; wore a Hack hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; lately signalman in M. Description of PATRICK LEONARD, native of Brackna, county Kildare, who stands charged with having, on the night of 9th or morning of 10th instant, in the barony of Maryborough West, parish of Clon- enagh and Clonaheen, feloniously stolen from the dwellinghouse of Daniel Moore, of Cloneygowan, a new pair of men's bellows- tongued laced boots, no nails, brass rivets in shank, soles pegged; a man's black serge vest; a silver watch, no glass, one hand off, half inside of esse had a jellow appearance, crack across face of dial between the figures nine and three; all value for £ 2 10*., the property of Daniel Moore, with whom he was employed as a farm servant:— Down- looking, snail clostd- up dark eyes, regular note, fresh com- plexion, fat face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black hard hat, dark long- skirted coat, gray striped trowsers, and dsrk vest. Descriptien of JOHN and THOMAS DALY ( brothers), and JOSEPH BEIRNE, who stand charged with having, on night of 5th May, 1891, in the barony of Frenchpark, parish of Tibohine, assaulted one John Connor, by striking him on tbe head with a stone, from the effects of which he died on 11th instant:— 1. Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, freckled com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and 23 years of sge, fair hair, small fair mous- tache ; wore gray tweed clothes. 2. Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, and 18 or 19 years of age, dark hair, no beard or moustache. 3. Fair complexion, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, and about 23 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; farmers' sons. Description of EDMOND FLEMING ( mother's surname Boland>, no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the 5th April, 1891, at Cap- pawhite, in the barony of Kilnamanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully and fraudulently embezzled the sum of £ 20 10*.. the property of one Thomas Boland, small cattle dealer:— Very tender sore eyes, nearly blind, and walks wkh- difficulty in consequence, bald on top of head, blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 5C years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft hat. frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; is a cattle drover. Warrant issued for his arrest. Dundrum, 12th May, 1891. ( 9201 c.— 89262). Description of JOHN O'CONNOR, native of county Waterford, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day of May, 1891, in the barony of Iffa and Off* East, parish of Templetenny, embezzled tbe sum of £ 3 17*. 4d. :— Slightly prominent teetb, dark brown eyes, slightly hooked nose, ruddy complexion, mediam make, 5 feet 6 cr 7 inches higb, about 47 years of age, black bair tinged with gray: wore an old blue serge coat, trowsers, and vest, and an old greasy one- peaked cap; wore a short dirty sandy moustache. Shaves his face, but not oftener than once a week. Served 11 years in the army, and do « s not appear to be all right ia his head; is a labourer. Informations sworn and warrant issued for arrest. Description of JOHN KELLY, native of King's County, who stands charged with having, on the 5th or 6th day of May, 1891. in tbe barony of Ikerrin, parish of Corbally, stolen from the house of Mathew Mara, at Gortnacally, £ 5 2*., and also a suit of tweed clothes and a penknife:— Down- looking, and spots or pimples on face, blue eyes, J egular nose, fair complex- ion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, aboat 20 years of age, light brown hair; wore a bard hat, blue serge coat, and tweed trowsers ; is a labourer ( has a flute, which he plays well). Description of JOHN BYRNE ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Coolanga Lower, who stands charged with having, oa the 8th dav of May, 1891, in the barony of Lower Kilnamanagh, parish of Clonoulty, assaulted Patrick Bourke, process server, by striking him on the head w ith an iron tongs, thereby placing his life in dan- ger :— Large blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair, no bair on face; is a farmer's son. Description of CHARLES STEWART, alias PETER HANLON, alias GEORGE BROWN, says he is a native of Armagh, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of April, 1891, in the muni- cipal borough of Waterford, parish of Trinity Without, endeavoured to defraud a number of farmers by- pretending to purchase their pigs:— Hazel eyes, long sharp nose, ruddy complexion, round face, mediam make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, looks older, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers, black vest, and leggings. He has been arrested, and pending enquiries has been re- manded. He has been in Clonmel, Dundalk, Armagh, and Kilkenny Gaols for larcenies. Waterford. 10th April, 1891. ( 8547 88165.) Description of JOHN HAIGH, native of Cross- land, near Huddersfield, who stands charged with having, en the 9th April, 1891. in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Trinity Without, stolen the sum of £ 28, a blue overcoat, beaver cloth, with black velvet collar, two pair gray web drawers, and two blue Yager wool shirts; the money was all in new coinage, gold and silver, including a 4*. piece with dent on reverse side:— His back is supposed to be padded to take away military appearance; gray eyes, regular nose, fTeah complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark coarse hair; wore a black felt hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, brown satin necktie; is a private, 15th Hussars. Had a black bullock trunk, with ffji. in faint white letters on end, one of the straps broken. Warrant for arrest in hands of District Inspector, Waterfcrd. This man left Waterford by 2.30 p. m. train for Dublin on 9th instant. Waterford, 11th April, 1891. ( 8560 c— 88196.) Description of JOHN HIGGINS, native of Rath Lower, who stands charged with having, on the 7th May, 1831, in the barony of Kilkenny West, parish of Noughaval, seriously assaulted, by stabbing, one Francis Bracken, of Clongher:— Bow- legged; brown eyes, large nose, dark sallow complexion, thin face, medinm make, 5 feet inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a tweed cap, dark tweed coat, troweers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of THOMAS DUFFY, native of deerpark, King's County, who stands charged with aaving, on or about 21th June, 1890, in the barony of Moyashel, parish of Kilbeggan, unlawfully stolen and carried away ten doors, two locks, and other property ( now recovered), from the house of Joseph Phylan, Kilbeggan Dark eyes, pale complexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 leet 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, small black moustache ( may have shaved), no whiskers or beard; is a grocer's assistant, formerly a publican. § peaks with an Knglish accent. THOMAS WALSH ( licensed convict), Hne- and- Cry, 28th April, not arrested. ( 6992 c— 87110.) EDWARD GRANNELLS ( indecent assault), Hue- and Cry, 20th March, not arrested. ( 6878 c— 8506.) PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent' assault), Hue- and- Cry, 24th February, not arrested. ( 7017c 85272.) Wicklow. Description,, of the undernamed yonng offender, who, on the 8th May, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree, county Wicklow:— BENJAMIN WRIXON, 2356, about 18 or 19 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 5 feet 3 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, rather large nose, prominent mouth with very thick lips, oval visage, two small cut- marks on forehead j. formerly belonged to Shandon- street and Old Church- street, Cork. His parents are dead. This boy speaks with a Cork accent; he is sometimes of a very eccentric turn of mind, and would appear not to be quite sane; he will join the army if taken, but bis being taken is doubtful, if examined properly. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, elastic belt, strong nailed boots, No. 2356. C.) 2 THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AHD- CBY, MAY 22, 18tl Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 8th May, 1891, absconded from the St. Kevin's Reformatory School, at Glencree, county Wicklow:— JOHN KELLY, 2314, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 5 feet 4 inches high, stout make, fair c jmplexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long straight nose, ordinary mouth, long oval visage, small cut- marks over right eye and on left knee; formerly belonged to 8, Chapter- place, Dublin. His parents reside at same place, or 6, Church- lane, off Lower Kevin- street. This boy will endeavour to enlist in the army, for which service he appears to have a great desire, and where several of his companions are already. He is of a rather hairy nature, and can grow a whisker at his pleasure. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth csp ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, elastic belt, strong nailed boots, No. 2314.
