No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn - bat it is not nectwwuy to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued^ and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * » • Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Description of MICHAEL TIMMINS ( mother's surname Maher), native of Bannagapole, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of March, 1891, in the barony of Idrone West, parish of Wells, seriously assaulted one Ellen Hanlon, by kicking her in the abdomen, and thereby placing her life in dapger. This man was bailed to take his trial on above charge at Carlow Qaarter Sessions on the 9th instant, but failed to put in an appearance; his present where- abouts are unknown:— Gray or blue eyes, thick nose, dark complexion, round faoe, stout make, 6 feet 9 v inches high, about SI years of age, black hair; wore a soft black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; down- looking sullen appearance; is a farmer's son. I. C., while in the execution of his duty, by striking him on tbe head with a bottle, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm;— Short upper lip, speaks hesitatingly, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, small face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, looks younger, dark hair, small dark moustache, a smart swaggering little man; wore a dark, coat, trowsers, and vest; is a slater. Description of JAMES MANNING, native of county Meath, who stands charged with having, on tbe 10th day of February, lf- 91, in the barony of Magoniby, parish of Killarney, committed wilful and conupt perjuryThree teeth lost from front of month, stooped shoulders, short side whiskers, no moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout male, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 50 years of age, sandy hair turning gray ( wore • hard black hat, gray sack coat, gray Irowsers, and vest; rather good looking, pretty well dressed, looks like a well to- do farmer; is a caretaker on Land Cor- poration farm. Description of WILLIAM FITZGERALD, native of Lisowen, near Doon, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of September, 1889, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, with others, murdered George Franklin;— Gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 24 years of age, brown hair; were a low hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN unknown, native place unknown ( supposed county Antrim), who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of February, 1891, in the barony of loughinsholin, parish of Ballyscnllin, illegally entered the lands of Colonel H- S. Bruce, J. F., in pursuit of game, and with having at same time and plaoe pointed a gun at and threatened to shoot one, William H. Phillips, gamekeeper i— 1. Scar over left eyebrow, shaves all his face; dark eyes, dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, abont 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown cap, brownish tweed coat, brown trowsers and vest. 2. High- cheek bones, shaves all his face; dark eyes, dark complexion, slight make, 6 feet high, about SO years ot age, dark hair; wore a brown two- peaked cap, brownish tweed ccat, blown tiowsers and vest. Description of JOHN HAIGH, native of Cross- land, near Huddersfield, who stands charged with having, en the 9th April 1891. in th « b » ror. y of Middlethird, parish of Trinity Without, stolen the sum of £ 28, a blue ove- coat, beaver cloth, with black velvet collar, two pair gray web drawers a > d two blue Tager wool shirts; the money was all in new coinage, gold and silver, including a 4s. piece with dent on reverse side:— His back is supposed to be padded to take away military appearance: gr* y eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark coarse hair; wore a black felt hat dark coat, trowsers, and vest, brown satin necktie; is a private, 15th Hussars. Had a black bullock trunk, with W. L. in faint white letters on end, one of the straps broken. Warrant for arrest in hands of District Inspector, Waterfcrd. Description of THOMAS DUFFY, native ' of Deerpark, King's County, who stands charged with Having, on or about 2fftb June, 1890, in the barony of Moycashel, parish of Kilbeggan, unlawfully stolen and carried away ten doors, two locks, and other property ( now recovered), from the house of Joseph Phylan, Kilbeggan Dark eyes, pale complexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 test 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, small black moustache ( may have shaved), no whiskers or beard; is a grocers assistant, formerly a publican. . ( 8112 c.— 8729f./ J Description of a MAN and WOMAN, names and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 17th February, 189., in the barony of Moy- ashel and Magheraternon, parish of Dysart, feloniously stolen from Bridget Looran, of Dysart certain articles of dress, on the highway, at Rathnamuddagh: 1. Long thin nose, fresh complexion, stout make, middle height, about 45 or 50 years of age, grayish hair, grayish moustache, arid long beard; wore a soft black hat and long black coat patched in back of shoulders, carried a blackthorn stick; is a tramp. 2. Fresh complexion, tall, younger than the man, but age unknown, black hair; wore a gray shawl and black dress, no covering on the head; is a tramp. Kilbeggan, 19th Feb., 1891. ( 7640 c.— 86523.) PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent assault), Hue- and- Cry, 24th February not arrested. ( 7017c 85272.) Kildare. Description of PATRICK KELLY, native of Dublin City, who stands charged witb having, on the SOtb March, 1891, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Tolly, stolen from the dwellinghouse of John Dempsey, one pair of boots and seven shillings • and sixpence :— Carbuncles on face, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 26 years of age, sandy hair; wore a gray plaid ccat, barracan trowsers, and tweed vest; is a labourer. This man may now be in a Dublin Hospital • s a patient, as it is believed he was suffering from some disease of tie skin. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, at Kildare. Description of JAMES NEWMAN, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 25th March, 1891, at Curragh Camp, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Ballysax, in his possession an ass, the property of William Brady, which was stolen on the 9th March, 1891, out of Brady's yard, fee Hue- and- Cry of 17th March, 1891. The ass has been recovered:— Regular nose, fair complexion, thin face, slender make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark hair; wore a gray tweed cap, round dark' coat, plaid trowsers, wears shoes; is a tailor; frequents soldiers' barracks for the purpose of- repairing uniform clothing. Description of JAMES MULLIGAN, native of Omagh. who stands charged with having, on the 21st day of February, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, Sarish of Birr, stolen the sum of £ 13 5s. from Captain money, of the York and Lancaster Regiment, Birr Barracks:— Scar over right eyebrow, small tumour over right eyelid, two bald spots on back of head caused by cut- marks, slightly bow- legged, gray eyes, regular nose, dark florid complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 7$ inches high, abont 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark tweed coat and Vest with yellow check lines; is an officer's servant; enlisted at Warrington, and has worked as labourer In iron works, Leeds. Description of MICHAEL GRIFFIN, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 16th dsy of March, 1891, in tie barony of Pubble- brien, parish of Croom, stolen 22 sheep, the property of Benjamin Corneille, 16 of which he sold at the fair of Charleville, on that date:— Speaks with a slight impediment, no beard or whiskers, small dark moustache, gray or bine eyes, long thin nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair; wore a gray tweed cap with one peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, soiled; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK LEONARD, native of Brackna, county Kildare, who stands charged with having, on the right of 9th or morning of 10th instant, in the barony of Maryborough West, parish of Clon- enagh and Clonaheen, feloniously stolen from the dwellinghouse of Daniel Moore, of Cloneygowan, a new pair of men's bellows- tongued laced boots, no nails brass rivets in shank, soles pegged; a man's black serge vest; a silver watch, no glass, one hand off, bait inside of case had a yellow appearance, crack across face of dial between the figures nine and three; all value for £ 2 10 « ., the property of Daniel Moore, with whom he was employed as a farm servant:— Down- lo king, small closed- up dark ejes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, fat face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a black hard hat, dark long- skirted coat, gray striped trowsers, and dark vest. Description of FRANCIS BRENNAN ( mother's surname Lenehan), native of Kilcloghan, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st or morning of 2nd March, 1891, in the barony of Frenchpark, parish of Creeve, stolen a heifer, tbe property of. Patrick Mullany ( see Hue- and- Cry dated 10th March, 1891):— Delicate appearance, dark eyes, rather short nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 4 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a cloth cap with two peaks, dark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN BURKE, native of Tip- perary, who stands charged with hivmg, on the night of the 4th April, 1891, in the barony ot Clanwilliam, parish of Donohill, stolen two asses, the property of Michael Crowe, of Lisheen:— Walks witb a stoop, slovenly gait and appearance, wears all hie bcar< i, which is rather short and ragged ; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full round face, stout ma* e, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, trown hair; wore a round jerry bat, old grey coat, t onsets, and vest; is a labourer. Description of CHARLES STEWART alias PETER HANLON, alias GEORGE BROWN, says he is a native of Armagh, who stands charged with having, on tbe 6th day of April, 1891. in the muni- cipal borough of Waterford, parish of Trinity Without, endeavoured to defraud a number of farmers by pretending to purchase their pigs:— Hazel eyes, long sharp nose, ruddy complexion, round face, n erti m make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, looks older, brown hair; wore a dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers, black vest, and leggings. He has been arrested, and pending enquiries has been re manded. He has been in Clonmel, Dundalk, Armagh, and Kilkenny Gaols for larcenies. Waterford, 10th April, 1891. ( 8547 C 88 65.) Wicklow. Description of HENRY JOHNSTON, native of county Wexford ( supposed New Ross), who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1890, in the barony of Newcastle, parish o f Kilcommon, stolen five bags of oats, the property of Margaret Jones of Bohana:— Wants an upper front tooth, mark of boil on left cheek near ear, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of ago; wore an old gray tweed coot, trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a ( ramping labourer. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS TOOMEY, a 318, convicted at Dublin City Com mission, on 5th August, 1881, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude 26 years of age on conviction, single, black hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, rather cocked nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, APRIL 24, 1891. make, 5 feet 3 inches high, left arm has been broken, sinews contracted, anchor on wrist, right arm tattooed; Is a labourer; resided before conviction at Dublin, was born at Cork, where his friends reside. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on Licence, 2nd August, 1890. He has not reported himself at Cork since 18th ult., and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest, he should be dealt with under section 5 of 84 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 23rd March, 1891. ' ( 389 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict JOHN RYAN, C 132, convicted at Monaghan Spring Assizes, on fith March, 1887, for larceny of £ 130, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:-— 25 years of age, on conviction, singlet born at Dublin, where his iriends reside, no fixed residence before conviction:— Dark hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, S feet 5£ inches high, abscess mark left side of neck, swelled veins on left testicle, top of head getting bald; is a dealer. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on licence, the 9th instant, and came to Dublin, wherp he reported his arrival to the police on the 10th instant, and stated he would call the following day and notify bis residence, but up to this he has failed to do so, and his present whereabouts iB unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5. of the Act 84 and 85 Vic., cap. 112. 26th February, 1891. ( 883 H. C.) Glasgow. The thief or thieves gained an entrance by breaking a pane ot glass iu the back window, removing the sr ib, and raising the lower sash. The window is seemed with three . tanchions, with crosibar about 3 feet from sill ol window, and the space between the stanchion and through which the thief entered is inches. Foot marks on paper inside the window show the impression of a small boot with round tackets.
