But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Description of JAMES NEWMAN, native place not known, who stands charged with having, on the 25th March, 1891, at Curragh Camp, in the barony of East 0ffaly, parish of Ballysax, ia his possession an ass, the property of William Brady, which was stolen on the 9th March, 1891, out of Brady's yard. See Hue- and- Cry ot 17th March, 1891. Description of JAMES MULLIGAN, native of Omagh. who stindn charged with having, on the 21st day of February, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, Krish of Birr, stolen the sum of £ 13 51. from Captain money, of the York and Lancaster Regiment, Birr Barracks:— Scar over right eyebrow, small tumour over right oy elid, two bald spots on back of head caused by cut- marks, slightly bow legged, gray eyes, regular nose, dark florid complexion, ronnd face, very stout make, 5 feet 7$ inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair ; wore a dark hard hat, dark tweed coat and vest with yellow check lines j is an officer's servant; enlisted at Warrington, and has worke- 1 as labourer in iron works, Leeds. Description of MICHAEL GRIFFIN, native of county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of March, 1891, in tte barony of Pubble- bricn, parish of Croom, stolen 22 sheep, the property of Benjamin Corneille, 16 of which he sold at the fair of Charleville, on that date:— Speaks with a slight impediment, no beard or whiskers, small dark moustache, gray or blue ej es, long thin nose, sallow complexion, long th'n face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, black hair ; wore a gray twoed cap with one peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, soiled; is a farmer's son. Description of PATRICK DRISCOLL, native of Odorney, county Kerry, who stands charged with having, in the month of November, 1890, in the barony of borough of Limerick, parish of St. John's, unlawfully carnally known a girl, Mary Daly, under the age of 18 years:— Gray eyes, very large nose, sallow complexion, long face, madium make, 5 feet 6 inchcs high, about 22 years of agej wore an old gray tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a wire worker. Description of WILLIAM FITZGERALD, native of Lisowen, near Doon, county Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of September, 1889, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, with others, murdered George Franklin :— Gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a low hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN unknown, native place unknown ( supposed county Antrim), who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of February, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Ballyscullin, illegally entered the lands of Colonel H. S. Bruce, J. F., in pursuit of game, and with having at same time and place pointed a gun at and threatened to shoot one, William H. Phillips, gamekeeper t— 1. Scar over left eyebrow, shaves all his face ; dark eyes, dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown cap, brownish tweed coat, brown trowsers and vest. 2. High- oheek bones, shaves all his face; dark eyes, dark complexion, slight make, 6 feet high, about SO years ol age, dark hair; wore a brown two peaked cap, brownish tweed coat, brown trowsers and vest. Roscommon Description of FRANCIS BRENNAN ( mother's surname Lenehan\ native of Kilcloghan, who stands charged with having, on the night of 1st or morning of 2nd March, 1891, in the barony of Frenchpark, parish of Creeve, stolen a heifer, the property of Patrick Mullany ( see Hue- and- Cry dated 10th March, 1891) :— Delicate appearance, dark eyes, rather short n^ se, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; wore a cloth cap with two peaks, dark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a farmer's son. This man will try to emigrate if possible. Strokestown, 13th March, 1891. ( 7853 87152). Tipperary. MICHAEL BRENNAN ( stealing),' Hue- aud- Cry, 13th March, not arrested. ( 7530 86189.) Tyrone. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th March, 1891, in the barony of Upper Dungannon, parish of Derryloran, obtained sums of money from various persons by falsely pretending that he was a lay brother of the Redemptorist Order in Dublin, and that he was collecting money to pay a debt contracted by the Redemptorist Fathers in Dublin:—. Large undershot mouth, upper front teeth large, close, and projecting, round shoulders, somewhat stooped, bine eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, dirk hair, turning gray; wore a black clerical coat, black trowsers, and vest; is a vagrant, dressed in the garb of a R. C. Priest. This man goes about the country gathering money on the pretence that he is a lay brother, and collocting for a religious com- munity. He reuses to give his name or address or any reference whatsoever. It is believed that he may l ave committed similar crimes elsewhere. He has been remanded to Omagh Gaol pending lurther enquiries. Any information respecting his previous career to be smt at once to the D. I. at Cookstown. Cook a town, 21st March, 1891. ( 8230 c.— 87517.) Waterford. DAVID LIVINGSTONE ( obtaining watches uader false pretenses), Hue- and- Cry, 13th March, not arrested. ( 7314 c — 85799). Westmeath. Description of THOMAS DUFFY, native of Deerpark, King's County, who stands charged with iiaving, on or about 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Moycashel, parish of Kilbaggan, unlawfully stolen and carried away ten doors, two locks, and other property ( now recovered), from the house of Joseph Phylan, Kilbeggan;— Dark eyes, pale complexion, thin face, very slight make, 5 leit 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, small black moustache ( may have shaved), no whiskers or beard; is a grocer's assistant, formerly a publican. Speaks with an English accent. Warrant issued. Kilbeggan, 17th March, 1891. ( 8112 c.— 87297.) Description of a MAN and WOMAN, names and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on tho 17th February, 1891, in the barony of Moy- ashel and Magheraternon, parish of Dysart, feloniously stolen from Bridget Looran, of Dysart, certain articles of dress, on the highway, at Rathnamuddagh:— 1. Long thin nose, fresh complexion, stout make, middle height, about 45 or 50 years of age, grayish hair, grayish moustache, and long beard; wore a soft black hat and long black coat patched in back of shoulders, carried a blackthorn stick; is a tramp. 2. Fresh complexion, tall, younger than the man, but age unknown, black hair; wore a gray shawl and black dress, no covering on the head ; is a tramp. Kilbeggan, 19th Feb., 1891. ( 7640 c 86523.) Description of Licence holder, c 1,074, THOMAS WALSH, native of New Ross, who stands charged with having, about the 18th February, 1891, in the barony of Bantry, parish of St. Mary's, failed to notify his arrival to the police, he being a convict on ticket of licence, and his present whereabouts are unknown -.— Slightly pockpitted, and " T. W. M. P." on inside of right arm, " Kate and Ellen" on left fore- arm; gray eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, oval face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 46 years of age, brown hair; wore a ronnd hard hat, long dark coat, dark trowsers, and dark tweed vest; is a tailor. ( 6878 c— 8509^ PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT ( indecent assault), Hae- and- Cry, 24th February, not arrested. ( 7017c.— 85272.) Wicklow. Description of HENRY JOHNSTON, native of county Wexford ( supposed New Ross), who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1890, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcommon, stolen five bags of oats, the property of Margaret Jones, of Bohana:— Wants an upper front tooth, mark of boil on left cheek near ear, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore an old gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a tramping labourer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 4th December, 1890, ( 6391 84062.) PATRICK KERRIGAN alias CONNOR or COMBER ( perjury), Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 5848 c — 82977.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. C Division. Particulars relative to Convict THOMAS TOOMEY, A 318, convicted at Dublin City Com- mission, on 5th August, 1881, for larceny from the person, and sentenced to 10 years' penal seivitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single, black hair, hazal eyes, dark brown eyebrows, rather cojked nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round vimge, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, left arm has been broken, sinews contracted, anchor oi wrist, right arm tattooed; is a labourer; resided before conviction at Dablin, was born at Cork, where his friends reside. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, oa Licence, 2nd August, 1890. He has not reported himself at Cork since 13th ult., and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event o- his arrest, he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 anl 35 Vic., cap. 112. 23rd March, 1891. ( 389 H C.) Particulars relative to Convict JOHN RYAN, c 132, convicted at Monaghan Spring Assizes, on 5th March, 1887, for larceny of £ 130, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 25 years of age, on conviction, single; born at Dublin, where his friends reside, no fixed residence before conviction:— Dark hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, legular nose, medium mouth, sallow comp'exion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5£ inches high, abscess mark left side of neck, swelled veins on left testicle, top of head getting bald; is a dealer. This man was releasad from Maryboro' Prison on Licence, the 9th in tant, and came to Dublin, where he reported his arrival to the police on the 10th instant, and stated he would call the following day and notify his residence, but up to this he has failed to do so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 26th February, 1891. ( 383 H. C.) Wanted on a Sheriff's Warrant for embezzlement of the above Bu* n the property of his employers, Messrs. James Gall and Co., provision merchants, 123, Candleriggs, of this city MONTEITH SINCLAIR, a traveller, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inchos high, slenier make, and slight fairish moustache, ruddy complexion; dressed ( supposed) in dark tweed clcthes and black felt hat; resided at 1, Albert- road, Crosshill, near Glasgow. Is a native of Newcastle. Absconded on 5th inst, and will likely endeavour to leave the country. Please cause immediate enquiry to be made for the accused at hotels, shipping, shipping offices, and all other likely places, and should be ha got, arrest and wire, J. Stolen by means of housebreaking on the night of Monday, 30th, or morning of Tuesday, 3! bt March, 1891, from a jeweller's shop in this burgh :— A gent's English lever watch, No. 34,226, valuo £ 1 li s. ; a gent's Geneva watch, Mo. rot known, value 30s.; two lady's Geneva watches ( Swiss make), No. not known, value 25s. each. The thief or thieves gained an entrance by breaking a pane of glass in the back window, removing the scib, and raising the lower sash. The window is secured with three stanchions, with crossbar about 3 feet from sill of window, and the space between the stanchion and through which the thief entered is (- f inches. Foot- marks on paper inside the window show the impression of a small boot with round tackets. A number of valuable watches and other jewellery were left in the window untouched. Please cause the usual inquiry Tvith the view of tracing the stolen property, and also the thief or thieves, and communicate with THOMAS FERGUSON, Superintendent. Description of a horse, the property of Edmond Sweeny, which was stolen from the lands of Lemenagh, parish of Kilnatoy, and barony of Inchiquin, on the night of Thursday, the 12th instant, or early the following morning:— A dark bay mare, 2 years old, black legs, tail, and mane, 14 hands high, shod on four feet, clipped trace high all round, turns ont the foremost hoofs, well bred, and value for £ 30. Description of 10 bullocks, the properly of John Campion, which were stolen from the lands of Iron- mills, parish of Abbeyleix, barony of Cullenagb, on the night o ' the 23rd March. 1891:— Two white over body, with red necks. Two blood red, without any white. One all gray, smaller than the others. Two gray with red spots, one of these had shell off left horn. One red with white across shoulder and hips. Two speckled. All two jeiira old, and value for about £ 11 each. These cattle were all clipped over loins some time ago, and Bmeared with pitch, traces of which remain. Abbeyleix, 25th March, 1891. Description of two asses, the property of Thomas Nolan and John Keeffe which were stolen from the lands of Longorchard, parish of Templetuohy, barony of Ikerrin, on the 21st day of February, 1891:— 1. A male ass, brown colour, white bally, some hair off tail, not shod, 10 years old, and value for £ 1 10*. 2. A female ass, brown colour, stringhalted in hind legs, white belly, not shod, 10 years old, and value for £ 1. These asses are supposed to have been sold at the fair oi Clonmel, on the 4th instant.
