Description of JOHN CLUNE, native of Mullough, who stands charged with having, on or about the 17th March, 1890, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clare Abbey, deserted his wife and child, thereby leaving them chargeabls on the rates of the Poor Law Union of Ennis:— Two reel feet, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair and side whiskers; wore a hard bat, dark coat, and cord trowsers; is a labourer. England accent, has the appearance of a foreigner, dark eyes, cocked nose, dark swarthy complexion, thin face, slender make, 5' feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, very dark hair; is a domestic servant. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 31st January, 1891, in the barony of Upper Castle- reagh, parish of Saintfield, broken into the house of Thomas Graham, and stolen therefrom a Waterbury watch, value 12*.:— Very full red face, blue eyes, florid complexion, very stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age; wore a low hard hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn ; is a tramp. WILLIAM M'GREGORY ( burglary), described in issue of 7th November, not arrested. 24th September, 1890. ( 4966 c— 81457.) Galway. Description of PATRICK MULROE, native of Doonas, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of February 1891, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, seriously assaulted Stephen Halloran, so as to place his life in danger:— Gray eyes, regalar nosa. fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a frieta ojat, tweei trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the District Inspector, Clonbur. Clonbur, 1891. ( 7473 o — 86352.) Kilkenny. Description of a tramp who gives his name as THOMAS KEHOE, and states he is a native of Newtown, Adamstown, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on the 14th February, J891, in thq barony of Iverk, parish of Rathkieran stolen two shirts, the property of Thomas Fielding:— Speaks aud walks as if affected with paralysis, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, rcund faca, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair, sandy whiskers ; wore an old soft hat and dark faded serge suit. This man is now in Waterford Gaol, on remand, charged with above and other larcenies, and is likely to have committed similar offences elsewhere. Piltown, 16th February, 1891. ( 7569 c.— 86260.) Description of THOMAS WALLACE, mother's surname M'Neilly, native of Taylorstown, and ROBERT GAULT, mother's surname Thompson, native of Gillestown, who stand charged with having, on the 31st January, 1891, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion, Grange, unlawfully assaulted one, William Lynn, thereby endangering his life:— 1. Dark eyes, regalar nose, dark complexion, regular face, medium njake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a hard hat, black coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a weaver. 2. Rather good- looking; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, rather stout make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard bat, black coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of ELIZA TALLON, alias HALIGAN, native of Killenure, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th January, 1891, in the barony of Rathvilly, parish of Tullow Phelan, deserted her male child, about 10 days old:— Good looking, gray eyes, thin sharp nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; is a servant, and was last at a situation near Ovoca, county Wicklow. Warrant in the hands of the Sergeant at Tullow. Carlow, 16th February, 1891. ( 7131 c.— 85486.) Cork. Description of DENIS CONNELL, native of Doneraile, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the I2th February, 1891, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Caherduggan, attempted to commit larceny, and with having set fire to a hay- rick, the property of John Dunlea, of Bally- ellis:— Rowdy appearance, large mouth, wild gray eyes, cocked nose, ruddy complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and brown tweed vest; is a labourer, was in the militia. Warrant in hands of the Sergeant, R. IC., at Doneraile. Mallow, 19ih February, 1891. ( 7529 e.— 86354.) Donegal, Description of JOHN M'DAID, native of Meena- willigan, who stands charged with having, on the 31st December, 1890, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Conwal, assaulted Michael M'Ginley, by stabbing him with a knife:— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a low soft hat, dark jacket and vest, striped tweed trowsers, and a nickel- plated watch guard; is a labourer. Lately returned from Scotland where his parents reside at present; he is likely to return there. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Churchhill Police. Letterkenny, 2nd Jan., 1891. Description of AGNES WOODS, native of Tasmania, but who has for some years past resided in Glasgow, who stands charged with having, on the 6th February, 1891, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Knockbreda, stolen out of the dwelling- house of William Morrow. Tullycarnet, 11 silver tea spoons marked " J. M.," 12 white- handled breakfast knives, 6 electro- plated table spoons, a pair of electro- plated sugar tongs, a pair of lady's boots, a horse rug, a gray checked knee rug, and a white knitted shawl:— Mole on each cheek, speaks with a Scotch or north of rsss THE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AND- CRY, MARCH 3, 1891. Description of JAMES MULLIGAN, native of Omagh. who stands charged with having, on the 21st day of February, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr stolen the sum of £ 18 & » . from Captain Money, of the York and Lancaster Regiment, Birr Barracks:— Scar over right eyebrow, small tumour over right eyelid, two bald spots on back of head caused by cut- marks, slightly bow- legged, gray eyes, regular nose, dark florid complexion, round face, very stout make, 6 feet 7$ inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark hard hat, dark tweed coat and vest with yellow check lines; is an officer's servant; enlisted at Warrington, and has worked as labourer in iron works, Leeds. Warrant with R. I. C., Parsons- town. Parsonstown, 23rd Feb., 1891. ( 7677 c.— 86469.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who on the 19th February, 1891, at about 3 o'clock, p. m., absconded from the Phillipstown Reformatory School King's County:— JOHN FARRELL, 1231, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, sallow complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, straight nose, regular mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin, and his mother resides at 178, Phibsborough- road; cut- mark on forehead. He may hire for a time with a farmer and then try to enlist. The School dress, all with Reformatory stamp, consists of Glengarry cap, dark blue serge jacket, corduroy trowsers, and vest, Blucher boots. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice rn remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 380 H. C.) Description of JOSEPH BRYAN, native of Layerthrope, North York, England, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd February, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen the sum of £ 3 13J. 2d. from the Canteen of the York and Lancaster Regiment, Birr Barracks: — Knock- kneed, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, re- gular face, medium make, 5 feet Sc inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair; deserted in uniform, is now in plain clothes— description not known; is Lance Corporal, York and Lancaster Regiment. Description of TWO MEN unknown, native place unknown ( supposed county Antrim), who stand charged with having, on the 24th day of February, 1891, in the barony of Loughinsholin, parish of Ballyscullin, illegally entered the lands of Colonel H. S. Bruce, J. p., in pursuit of game, and with having at same time and place pointed a gun at and threatened to shoot one, William H. Phillips, gamekeeper i— 1. Scar over left eyebrow, shaves all his face ; dark eyes, dark complexion, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark hair ; wore a brown cap, brownish tweed coat, brown trowsers and vest. 2. High- cheek bones, shaves all his face; dark eyes, dark complexion, slight make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown two- peaked cap, brownish tweed coat, brown trowsers and vest. Description of MICHAEL SULLIVAN, native of Smarmore, who stands charged with having, on the 4 th February, 1891, in the barony of Ardee, parish of Smarmore, stolen the cum of £ 3 14*., the property of Peter Fitzsimons, of Smarmore .— Stooped shoulders, blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, brown frieze coat, cord trowsers, frieze vest; is a labourer. Roscommon Description of MARTIN CARLOS, native of Clare, who stands charged with having, on the morn- ing of the 26th February, 1891, in the barony of Ballintubber South, parish of Kilgefin, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Charles Carlos, of Tonlagee o— Gray eyes, large nose, fair complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 45 or tO years of age, fair hair, short fair beard and whiskers, and shaves upper lip j is a fara er. Descriptions of OWEN CASEY and MARGARET CASEY, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, between the 5th and 13th February, 1891, in the barony of Tinnahinch, parish of Rosenallis, wilfully and feloniously murdered a female infant, aged 4 months, by drowning it in the River Barrow, at Mountmellick:— 1. Bald patch on back of head, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 Inches high, about 34 years of age, fair hiir; wore a hard bat, gray ( rock coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a horse trainer, and frequents fairs where horses are sold. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 1 inch in height, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark striped petticoat and old dark shawl; sells ballads ani boot laces at fairs. Warrants issued for their arrest. Maryboro', 21st Feb., 1891. ( 7546 c.— 86422.) Description of a FEMALE INFANT, found drowned on the 13th February, 1891, in the barony of Tinnahinch, parish of Rosenallis, and believed to have been murdered :— Old sores or scalds on back of ears, about 4 months old; wore two white flannel petticoats, calico bodies, calico chemise, red cotton dress, and white pinafore, edged with home embroidery. Supposed in water about 3 or 4 days. Maryboro', 15th Feb., 1891. ( 7546 c.— 86217.) tipperary, Description of MICHAEL BRENNAN, supposed to be a native of Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd February, 1891, at Kilteely, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Aglishcormack, stolen a silver watch from the person of Richard O'Dea, and pawned same in the town ofTipperary, on 4th February, 1891:— Gray or blue eyes, slightly cocked short nose, fair complexion, small round free, ordinary make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 23 or 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a black jerry hat, black jacket coat, trowsars, and vest; is an itinerant thimble- rigger at fairs. The Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the District Inspector at Tipperary. Tipperary, 14th February, 1891. ( 7530 c.— 86189.) Tyrone. THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL,, native of Ccokstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS, native of Armagh, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) Waterford. Description of a man who stated his name was DAVID LIVINGSTONE, and that he was a native of Ayr, Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1891, in the barony of Decies- without- Drum, parish of Dungarvan, obtained under false pretences, from George F. Power, watchmaker, Dungarvan, two watches described elsewhere:— Wore a moustache and imperial, brown eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 54 years of age, sandy- gray hair; wore a black felt hat, black overcoat, and gray trowsers. He stated he was agent for Wilson and Jenner, London, to collect debts. A Warrant for his arrest has been issued. Dungarvan, 2nd Feb., 1891. ( 7814 c 85799.) Westmeath. Description of a MAN and WOMAN, names and native place unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 17th February, 1891, in the barony of Moy- ashel and Magheraternon, parish of Dysart, feloniously stolen from Bridget Looran, of Dysart, certain articles of dress, on the highway, at Rathnamuddagh :— 1. Long thin nose, fresh complexion, stout make, middle height, about 45 or 50 years of age, grayish hair, grayish moustache, and long beard; wore a soft black hat and long black coat patched in back of shoulders, carried a blackthorn stick; is a tramp. 2. Fresh complexion, tall, younger than the man, but age unknown, black hair; wore a gray shawl and black dress, no coveriog on the head ; is a tramp. Kilbeggan, 19th Feb., 1891. ( 7640 c 86523.) Description of EDWARD GRANNELLS, native of Enniscorthy, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd January, 1891, in the barony of Scarawalsh, parish of St. Mary's, indecently assaulted Mary Anne Sullivan:— Slightly bow- legged, square shoulders, sandy moustache, face shaved, light gray eyes, regolar nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7} inches high, about 24 years of age, looks older, sandy hair; wore a dark blue sack coat, dark blue trowsers and vest; is a cot man. Description of HENRY JOHNSTON, native of county Wexford ( supposed New Ross), who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1890, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcommon, stolen five bags of oats, the property of Margaret Jones, of Bohana:— Wants an upper front tooth, mark of boil on left cheek near ear, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore an old gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a tramping labourer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 4th December, 1890. ( 6391 84062.) PATRICK KERRIGAN alias CONNOR or COMBER ( perjury), Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 5848 c.— 82977.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. C division; Particulars relative to Convict JOHN RYAN, c 132, convicted at Monaghan Spring Assizes, on 5th March, 1887, for larceny of £ 130, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 25 years of age, cn conviction, singlet born at Dublin, where his iriend3 re ide, no fixed residence before conviction:— Daik hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, regular ncse, medium mouth, sallow complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 5£ inches high, abscess mark left side of neck, swelled veins on left testicle, top of head getting bald; is a- dealer. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on Licence, the 9th instant, and came to Dublin, where he reported his srrival to the police on the 10th instant, and state d he would call the following day and notify his residence, but up to this he has failed to do so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of tfce Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 26th February, 1891. ( 383 H. C.) PATRICK BYRNE ( juvenile offender), Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 366 H. C.) JOHN WILLIAMS ( convict), Hue- and Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 364 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Durham. Wanted in city of Durham on Warrant for embezzling the sum of £ 34 ( total defalca- tions being upwards of £ 500), absconded on 3rd January lest, FREDERICK DAVID BUCK- HAM, a clothier's assistant, 32 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair hair, inclined to ginger, bald on top of head, ginger moustache and slight side whiskers, brown eyes, of smart appearance, usually dresses well in dark tweed jacket and vest, light tweed trowsers, and brown felt hat. This man served his apprenticeship with Mr. Ward, Clothier, Clayton street, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, and has been manager for Hepworth and Co., Clothiers, Leeds, at their branch shop here fcr the last six years, and is well known to most of the managers lor that firm in the North of England. Pleas a cause enquiries to be made at shippiog offices and other likely places, and should any trace be obtained communicate at once with John Smith, Chief Constable. City Police, Office, Durham, 25th February, 1891. ( 382 H. C.) Essex. ALFRED HENDERSON BENNETT, alias BURRIDGE, wanted on a Warrant, for having on 6th January obtained £ 2 by false pretences:— 23 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes, has a peculiar look in bis eyes, impediment in his speech, very slight moustache. Is fond of horses, riding, driving, and u3ually dresses in breeches and gaiters or high boots, a covert coat, a bard black hat,- smart gentlemanly appearance. Is believed to have enlisted in the army. It is requested that special inquiry be made at recruiting stations, barracks, & c. Warrant issued. Information to Deputy Chief Constable of Essex, Chelmsford. A photo can be seen on application. 18th February, 1891. ( 381 H. C.) Norfolkshire. Man, giving name of GRANT, described in issue of 21st November, not arrested. ( 344 H. C.) 4 THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, MARCH 3, 1891. Shropshire Lanarkshire. 2. A pale yellow bullock, 2 years old, and value for Committed for trial at the next Quarter Sessions, for attempted rape, JOHN HASTON, alias JOHN ADDIS and JOHN NEESON, age 23; height, 5 feet inches, full brown face, brown heir, no whiskers or moustache, light brown eyes, cut mark first finger of right hand, scar left eyebrow, rather bow- legged; dress, dark rib- cloth coat ( faded), old dark mixture vest, corduroy trowsers ( small pattern), gray mixture cap with peak, lace boots, wears a silver ring on right third finger ; states he was born at Leinster, Wicklow, Ireland, but brought up at 22, Spring Gardens- lane, Sunderland, and that he is known to Mr. Coleman, lodging- house keeper, off Queer- street, Sunderland; that he has a relative named John Higgens, a plasterer, in York- street; Manchester. He also states that he served 56 days training at Richmond Militia last year, that lie enlisted at Middlesborough, and at the end of the training purchased his discharge. Has worked on a new railway at Barnsley, also at Leeds Gasworks, and on the Manchester Ship Canal at Hence. Appears to have been tramping tbe country some time. Wanted here, on a charge of murder, committed on the night of Saturday, 21st February current, in Shielinghill, Hamilton, PETER CORRIGAN, or- KERRIGAN, or CUNNINGHAM ( wife's maiden name is Durkin), labourer, native of Ireland; but been a good many years about Glasgow, Hamilton, and West of Scotland; about 55 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inchee high, ordinary make, stoops slightly when walking or standing, dark complexion, longish features, rather broad at cheeks and narrower at chin, lips rather thin, or fall in slightly as if some of front teeth were awanting, hair beginning to tarn gray, clean shaved, but if moustache or whiskers allowed to grow, they are likely to be gray; dressed in dark coat, vest, and trowsers, or may be wearing grayish trowsers— probably all half worn, black or dark blue cloth cap with glased peak, rather broad in crown, worn with peak down on forehead and front of cap raised up and turned over on the side. Absconded on Monday fore- noon, 23rd instant. Accused is of a somewhat sullen and unsociable disposition, and when not working was generally reen standing alone abont some of the street corners with the breast button of bis coat fastened, and his hands in his trowsers pockets. Has worked as a mason's labourer, and as a'brusher or roadsman in pits. Has also been employed on Anchor Line of ships between Glasgow and America, and has gone about as a pedlar hawking laces and matches. He may endeavour to leave the country. Police Officers are earnestly requested to make immediate and special search and enquiry for accused at shipping offices, steamboat quays, new buildings in course of erection, and at farms, quarries, coal pits, and other public works. Enquiry is also requested to be made at common lodging houses, and also at brick works and other places where tramps without money are likely to seek lodgings. If found, apprehend, and wire me. Robertson, 92ad Gordon Highlanders, which were stolen from bis quarters, I Lines, Curragh Camp, parish of Ballysax, and barony of East Offaly, between the hours of 7 30 p u. and 9 30 p. it, on the 12th February, 1891 :— 1. Large silver locket, with small gold diamond- shaped panel raised en it, plain silver back, a slender silver coil chain attached; all value for about £$ 10s. 2. Griffiths by his friend Captain Smith, September 5th, " ( year not known); 1 cigarette case, with similar inscription; 1 gent's gold diamond ring, claw setting, supposed 18- carat; 1 gold signet ring, with crest " Eagle"; the two latter rings were too large, and have been lined with gold; value £ 59.
