BHlT All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry art be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- Geneva], Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn • but it is not necessary • to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all. Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons - vhose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fec., and of any circumstances rendering tho supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. / DUBLIN, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1891. Antrim, Description of THOMAS WALLACE, mother's surname M'Neilly, native of Taylorstown, and ROBERT GAULT, mother's surname Thompson, native of Gillestown, who stand charged with having, on the 31st Jannary, 1891, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Ballyscullion, Grange, unlawfully assaulted one, William Lynn, thereby endangering his life:— 1. Dark eyes, regalar nose, dark complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, black hair; wore a bard hat, black coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a weaver. 2. Rather good- looking; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, rather stout make, 5 ieet 5 or 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard bat, black coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of ELIZA TALLON, alias HALIGAN, native of Killenure, county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 13th January, 1891, in the barony of Rathvilly, parish of Tullow Phelan, deserted her male child, about 10 days old: Good looking, gray eyes, thin sharp nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; is a servant, and was last at a situation near Ovoca, coanty Wicklow. Warrant in the hands of the Sergeant at Tullow. Carlow, 16th February, 1891. ( 7131 8518f.) Clare. Description of JOHN CLUNE, native of Mullough, who stands charged with having, on or about the 17th March, 1890, in the barony of Islands, parish of Clare Abbey, deserted his wife and child, thereby leaving them chargeable on the rates of the Poor Law Union of Ennis:— Two reel feet, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stont make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair and side whiskers; wore a hard hat, dark coat, and cord trowsers ; is a labourer. Description ef DENIS CONNELL, native of Doneraile, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 12th February, 1891, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Caherdnggan, attempted to commit larceny, and with having set fire to a hay- rick, the property of John Dunlea, of Bally- ellis:— Rowdy appearance, large mouth, wild gray eyes, cocked nose, ruddy complexion, full face, mediam make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and brown tWeed vest; is a labourer, was in the militia. Warrant in hands of the Sergeait, R. IC., at Doneraile. Mallow, 19th February, 1891. ( 7529 c.— 86154.) Donegal. Description of JOHN M'DAID, native of Meena- willigan, who stands charged with having, on the 31st December, 1890, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Conwal, assaulted Michael M'Ginley, by stabbing him with a knife :— Blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a low soft hat, dark jacket and vest, striped tweed trowsers, and a nickel- plated watch guard; is a labourer. Lately returned from Scotland where his parents reside at present; he is likely to return there. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Churchhill Police. Letterkenny, 2nd Jan., 1891. Description of AGNES WOODS, native of Tasmania, but who has for some years past resided in Glasgow, who stands charge! with having, on the 6th February, 1891, in the barony of Lower Castlereagh, parish of Knockbreda, stolen out of the d welling- housd of William Morrow, Tullycarnet, 11 silver tea spoons marked " J. M.," 12 white- handled breakfast knives, 6 electro- plated table spoons, a pair of electro- plat; d suyar tongs, a pa r of lady's boots, a horse rug, a gray checkcd knee rug, and a white knitted shawl:— Mole on each cbeek, speaks with a Scotch or north of England accent, has the appearance of a foreigner, dark eyes, cocked noss, dark swarthy complexion, thin face, slender make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, very dark hair; is a domestic servant. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 31 st January, 1891, in the barony of Upper Castle- reagh, parish of Saintfield, broken into the honse of Thomas Graham, and stolen therefrom a Waterbury watch, value 12*.:— Very full red face, blue eyes, florid complexion, very stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 20 years of age; wore a low hard hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn ; is a tramp. WILLIAM M'GREGORY ( burglary), described in issue of 7th November, not arrested. 24th September, 1890. ( 4966 c— 91457.) Galway. Description of PATRICK MULROE, native of Doonas, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of February 1891, in the barony of Ross, parish of Ross, seriously assaulted Stephen Halloran, so as to place his life in danger:— Gray eyes, regular nosi. fair complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a frieze oiat, tweel trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of the D . strict Inspector, Clonbur. Clonbur, 1891. ( 7473 o.— 86* 52.) Kilkenny. Defcript on of a tramp who gives his name as THOMAS KEHOE, and states ho is a natire of Newtown, Adamstown, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, cn the 14th February, 1891, in the barony of Iverk, parish of Rathkieran stolen two shirts, the property of Thomas Fielding:— Speaks and walks ss if affected with paralysis, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round fac >, stout make, 5 leet 6 cr 7 inches high, about 40 years of age, dark brown hair, sandy whiskers ; wore an old soft hat and dark faded serge suit. This man is now in Waterlord Gaol, on remand, charged with above and other larcenies, and i i likely to have committed similar offences elsewhere. Piltown, 16th February, 1891. ( 7569 c.— 86?<- 0.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, FEBRUARY 24, 1891. i King's. Description of the undernamed young offender, who on the 19th February, 1891, at about 3 o'clock, p. m., absconded from the Phillipstown reformatory School at King's County:- JOHN FARRELL, 1231, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sligtt make, sallow complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, straight nose, regular mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Dublin, and his mother resides at 178, Phibsborongh- road; cut- mark on forehead. He may hire for a time with a farmer and then try to enliet. The School dre s, all with Beformatory stamp, consists of Glengarry cap, dark blue serge jacket, corduroy trowsers, and vest, B'ucher boots. The Manager of the Beformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice i n remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 380 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 15th February, 1891, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— WILLIAM SCOTT, No. 1,320, 17 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, strong stout make, fresh com- plexion, brown hair, brown eyes, regnlar nose, wide mouth, round visage, tattooed on left thumb; dressed in a hard felt hat, navy blue serge jacket and vest, striped blue tweed trowsers, and Blucher boots; formerly belonged to Kilkenny. His father is a weaver r. t Lurgan. His mother, Catherine Scott, is a dealer in Kilkenny. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. 16th February, 1891. Description of JOSEPH BRYAN, native of Layerthrope, North York, England, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd February, 1891, in the barony of Ballybritt, parish of Birr, stolen the sum of £ 3 13*. Id. from the Canteen of the York and Lancaster Regiment, Birr Barracks: — Knock- kneed, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, re- gular face, medium make, 5 feet 5finches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair; deserted in uniform, is now in plain clothes— description not known; is Lance Corporal, York and Lancaster Regiment. Parsonstown, 5th Feb., 1891. ( 7360 o— 85895.) Description of the undermentioned juvenile offender, who absconded from the Reformatory School at Philipstown, on January 10th:— JAMES GINN, No. 1,103, scar on left brow, forefinger of left hand crooked, cut scar on ball of left thumb, 19| years of age, 5 feet inches high, heavy and stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, broad nose, regular mouth, full visage. Formerly belonged to Londonderry. He broke into a house at Clonegown, and dressed himself in clothing found therein, with the exception of his own strong Blucher boots. He took away from tho house about £ 11. He may have made for England and is likely to enlist or emigrate. The Manager will defray the expense to be incurred, and reward the officer who si all take him before a Justice with the sum of £ 1. ( 372 H. C.) Londonderry. Description of DENIS M'CARTHY ( mother's sur- name Harvey), native of Longford, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 13th January, 1891, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, accompanied by three others . in custody), stolen from tie premises of Thomas Shanley, publican, Main- street, Longford, a qusrter barrel of porter and three currant cakes:— Wild unkempt looking- appearance, dark eyes, ratler long nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; usually dressed in cap and ragged gray tweed suit; is a labourer. May be accompanied by his wife, who is of the following description:— Large flat feet usually bare, regular nose, sallow complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 5 incbes high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; usually lives by begging. Description of MICHAEL SULLIVAN, native of Smarmore, who stands charged with having, on the 4th February, 1891, in the barony of Ardee, parish of bmermore, stolen tbe fum of £ 3 14s., the property of Peter Fitzsimons. of Smarmore .— Stooped shoulders, blue eyes, regular ncse, sandy complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 35 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard hat, brown iri< ze co » t, coi d trow* eis, frieze vest; is a labourer. Warrant in hands ott he Ardee Police. Ardee, 7th February, 1891. ( 7390 85950.^ Queen's. Descriptions of OWEN CASEY and MARGARET CASEY, native places unknown, who stand charged on suspicion with having, between tbe 5th and 13th February, 1891, in the barony of Tinnahinch, parish of Rosenallis, wilfully and feloniously murdered a female infant, aged 4 months, by drowning it in the River Barrow, at Monntmellick:— 1. Bald patch on back of head, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 Inches high, about 34 years of age, fair hair; wore a hard bat, gray frock coat, dark trowsers, and vest; is a horse trainer, and frequents fairs where horses are sold. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 1 inch in height, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark striped petticoat and old dark shawl; sells ballads ani boot laces at fairs. Warrants issued for their arrest. Maryboro', 21st Feb., 1891. ( 7546 c.— 86422.) Description of a FEMALE INFANT, fiund drowned on the 13th February, 1891, in the barony of Tinnahinch, parish of Rosenallis, and believed to have been murdered :— Old sores or scalds on back of ears, aoout 4 months old; wore two white flannel petticoats, calico bodies, calico chemi e, red cotton dress, and white pinafore, edged with home embroidery. Supposed in water about 3 or 4 days. Maryboro', 15th Feb., 1891. ( 7546 c.— 86217.) Tipperary. Description of MICHAEL BRENNAN, supposed to be a native of Kerry, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd February, 1891, at Kilteely, in the barony of Coonagh, parish of Aglishcormack, stolen a silver watch from the person of Richard O'Dea, and pawned same in the town of Tipperary, cn 4th February, 1891:— Gray or blue eyes, slightly cocked short nose, fair complexicn, small ronnd free, ordinary make, 5 feet 2 inches high, sbout 23 or 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a black jerry hat, black jacket ccat, trowssrs, ard vest; is an itinerant thimble- rigger at fairs. The Warrant for his arrest is in tie hands of the District Inspector at Tipperary. Tipperary, 14th February, 1891. ( 75S0 c.— 86189.) Description of ISAAC FLOYD ( farmer), native of Lacknavea, who is missing from his home at Lacknavea, in the barony of Owney and Arra, parish of Kilmas tulla; was seen in town of Nenagh on 13th November last, and has not since been heard of. It is feared that he has met with foul play :— Abont 57 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, walks with a stoop, short neck, middle finger of each hand contracted, dark brown bair, bald on front of head, wore all his beard which is turning gray, moustache clipped short; were gray frieze coat, tweed trowsers, and vest, sott hat. Description of THOMAS STAPLETON ( mother's surname Hayes), native of Piperhill, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of December, 1890, in the barony of Kilnemanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted Clement Horan, of Glenough Upper, by striking bim on the head with some instrument, thereby placing his life in danger:— Has old cut- mark on back of head and on forehead, brown full eyes, thick nose, sallow complexicn, rather square face, stoat square make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a black hat, dark frock- coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Dundrum, 21 st Dec., 1890. ( 6614 c.— 84550.) Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on tbe 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pale complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a gray suit of clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 c— 80115.) Tyrone. Description of BERNARD BOYLE, native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 8th February, 1891, in the barony of Middle Dungannon, parish of Drumglass, left the sub- district of Dun- gannon and tailed to report his departure to the B. LC-, Dungannon, he being a licensed convict:— Varicose veins in both legs, two flags and guns on left side; B. B. E. B., two flags and anchor on right arm ; B. B. crucifix, and heart on left arm, bracelet on each wrist; gray eyes, thick nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches higb, about 59 years of age, light brown hair ; wore a gray tweed coat, cord trowsers, gray tweed vest; is a flax hackler. The convict was traced to neighbourhood of Donaghmore, same district, and is supposed to have gone to Scotland from there. This nan was libera'ed from Mocntjoy " Prison on the 17th August, 1889>, having been con- victed and senterced to a term of 7 years' penal servitude at Belfast on 19th Maich, 1884, tor larceny frjm the pen on after previous conviction. Dungannon, 18th Feb., 1891. ( 7601 c.— 86314.) THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS, native of Armagh, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c— 173739.) Waterford. Description of a man who stated his " name was DAVID LIVINGSTONE, and that he was a native of Ayr, Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 24th January, 1891, in the barony of Decies- without- Drum, parish of Dungarvan, obtained under false pretences, from George F. Power, watchmaker, Dungarvan, two watches described elsewhere:— Wore a moustache and imperial, brown eyes, regular cose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 54 years of age, sandy- gray hair; wore a black felt hat, black overcoat, and gray trowsers. He stated he was agent for Wilson and Jenner, London, to collect debts. A Warrant for his arrest has been issued. Dungarvan, 2nd Feb., 1891. ( 7314 c— 85799.) Wexford. Description of PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT, who stands charged with having,' on the 10th Jannary, in the barony of Gorey, parish of Inch, committed an indecent assault and attempted rape on Frances Johnston:— Wants some front teeth, dark eyes, rather long nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 36 or 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard hat, pilot coat, brown check trowsers and vest, bellows- tongued boots with iron plates across the toes; is a tramp labourer. This man is not like a labourer, and he possesses some education. Warrant for his arrest. Gorey, 17th January, 1891. ( 7017c 85272.) Description of EDWARD GRANNELLS, native of Enniscorthy, who stands charged with Having, on the 3rd January, 1891, in the barony of Scarawalsh, parish of St. Mary's, indecently assaulted Mary Anne Sullivan:— Slightly bow- legged, square shoulders, sandy moustache, face shaved, light gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round lace, stout make, 5 feet 7$ inches high, about 24 years of age, looks older, sandy hair; wore a dark blue sack coat, dark blue trowsers and vest; is a cot man. Warrant issued. Enniscorthy, 10th Jannary, 1891. ( 6878 8506.) Wicklow. Description of HENRY JOHNSTON, native of county Wexford ( supposed New Ross), who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1890, in the barony of Ne wcastle, parish of Kilcommon, stolen five bags of oats, the property of Margaret Jones, of Bohana:— Wants an upper front tooth, mark of boil on left cheek near ear, dark eyes, regular nofe, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore an old gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a tramping labourer. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 4th December, 18S0. ( 6391 84062.) C Division, PATRICK BYRNE ( juvenile offender), Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 366 H c ) JOHN WILLIAMS ( convict), Hue- and- Cry, 20th February, not arrested. ( 364 H C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Essex. ALFRED HENDERSON BENNETT, alias BURRIDGE, wanted on a Warrant, for having on 6th January obtained £ 2 by false pretences:— 23 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches higb, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, dark hezel eyes, has a peculitr look in lis eyes, impediment in his speech, very slight moustache. Is fond of horses, riding, driving, and usually dresses in breeches and gaiteis or high boots, a covert c at, a bard black hat, smart gentlemanly appearance. Is believed to have enlisted in the army. It is requested that specinl inquiry be made at recruiting stations, barracks, & c. Warrant issued. Information to Deputy Chief Constable of Esstx, Chelmsford. Man, giving name of GRANT, described in issue of 21st November, not arrested. ( 344 H. C.) Staffordshire. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, from the Vicarage, Tividale, Tipton, between 7.30 and 8.30 p. m., on the 18th February, 1891, the following articles, viz.:— 1 gold signet ring, 18- carat, bloodstone lozenge, with crest " Lion"} 1 gold ring, 18- carat, with coral settings; 1 plain gold ring, 18- carat, with inscription inside, " S. W. W., Knt., Barnk, ObL July, 1700"; 1 small flat gold ring, 18- carat, with " Mizpah " thereon; 1 gold ring, with large cameo Greek's head; 1 silver vestas box, with inscription " Presented to the Rev. G. R. W. Griffiths by bis friend Captain Smith, September fith, " ( year not known); 1 cigarette case, with similar inscription; 1 gent's gold diamond ring, claw setting, supposed 18- carat; 1 gold signet iing, with crest " Eagle " ; the two latter rings were too large, and hav » been lined with gold; value £ 59. Supposed to have been stolen by a man of tie following description, viz.:— About 26 years of age, 6 feet 2 or 3 inches high, medium build, light com- plexion, light moustache, no whiskers, round features; dressed in a dark billycock hat and dark clothes. M., on the 12th February, 1891 :— 1. Large silver locket, with small gold diamond- shaped panel raised on it, plain silver back, a slender silver coil chain attached; all value for about £ 6 10*. 2.
