Cavan, 17th November, 1890. ( 6077— c.) of Donegal. Description of JOHN M'DAID, native of Meena- willigan, who stands charged with having, on the 31st December, 1890, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Conwal, assaulted Michael M'Ginley, by stabbing him with a knife :—. Bine or gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a low soft hat, dark jacket and vest, striped tweed trowsers, and a nickel- plated watch guard; is a labourer. Lately returned from Scotland where his parents reside at present; he is likely to return there. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Churchhill Police. Letterkenny, 2nd Jan., 1891. ( 6804 c.— 84888.) crooked, cut- scar on ball of left thumb, 19| years of age, 5 foot 8£ inches high, heavy and stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes, broad nose, regular month, full visage. Formerly belonged to Londonderry. He broke into a house at Clonegown, and dressed himself in clothing found therein, with the exception of his own strong Blucher boots. He took away from tho hous* about £ 11. He may have made for England and is likely to enlist or emigrate. The Manager will defray the expense to be incurred, and reward the officer who shall take him before a Justice with the sum of £ 1. ( 372 H. C.) Down. Description of the undermentioned juvenile offender, who absconded from the Reformatory School at Philipstown, on January 10th:— JAMES GINN, No. J ,10T, scar on left brow, forefinger of lch hapd Londonderry. Description of JAMES HAUGHEY, native of Knock an oal, who stands charged with having, on the 28th October, 1890, in th<? barony of Longhinsholin, parish of Maghera, with two others, seriously assaulted one William Bradley, and having been bailed to appear at Maghera Petty Sessions on 29th November, 1890, to take his trial for said offence, failed to do so:— He is an Irish- American, and has a small cut- mark on back of head ; dark eye « , regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 10 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coat, dark trowsers, dark vest; is a farmer's son. The District In- spector at Magherafelt holds a Warrant for this man's arrest. Magherafelt, 15 Dec., 1890. ( 5770 c.— 84359.) GEORGE WALKER ( released convief), des- cribed in issue of 12th Sept., not arrested. ( 329 H. C.", Longford. Description of DENIS M'CARTHY ( mother's sur- name Harvey), native of Longford, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 18th January, 1891, in- the barony of Ardagh, parish of Templemichael, accompanied by three others ( in custody), stolen from the premises of Thomas Shanley, publican, Main- street, Longford . a quarter barrel of porter and three currant cakes:— Wild unkempt looking- appearance, dark eyes, rather long nose, pale sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 f » et 10 or 11 inches high, about 27 • years of age, dark hair, small dark moustache; usually dressed in cap and ragged gray tweed suit; is a • labourer. May be accompanied by his wife, who is of the following description:— Large flat feet usually - bare, regular nis<\ sallow complexion, oval face, medium make. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 25 years of fcge, brown hair; usually lives by begging. Longford, 29th January, 1891. ( 6984 c.— 85717.) Description of ISAAC FLOYD ( farmer), native of Lacknavea, who is missing his home at Lacknavea, in the barony of Owney and arra, parish of Kilmas tulla; was seen in town of Nenagh on 13th November last, and has not since been heard of. It is feared that he has met with foul play :— About 57 yoars of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, walks with a stoop, short neck, middle finger of each hand contracted, dark brown hair,, bald on front of head, wore all his beard which is turning gray, moustache clipped short; were gray frieze coat, tweed trowsers, and vest, soft hat. Description of THOMAS STAPLETON ( mother's surname Hayes), native of Piperhill, who stands charged with having, on the 1st of December, 1890, in the barony of Kilnemanagh Upper, parish of Toem, seriously assaulted Clement Horan, of Glenough Upper, by striking him on the head with some instrument, thereby placing his lite in danger:— Has old cut- mark on back of head and on forehead, brown full eyes, thick nose, sallow complexion, rather square face, stout square make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark brown hair;. wora a black hat, dark frock- coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Dundrum, 21st Dec., 1890. ( 6614 c.— 84550.) Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native o Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on tho 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- numanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pale complexion, ihin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair ; wore a gray suit of clothes; is • labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 c.— 80115.) Particalara relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assises, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sent erred to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age oa conviction, eingle; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where hiB friends reside;— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5- § inches high, cut mark left side of head and between leit thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and Thia man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- n. oi. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny and his present whereabouts is unknown. la the event of his street he should be deait with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 1 IS. Tyrone, THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS, native of Armagh, not arrested; Huo- and- Cry, 28th October, 1890. ( 4213 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Waterford. Description ot a n an who stated his name was DAVID LIVINGSTONE, and that he was a native of Ayr, Scotland, who stands charged with having, on tie 24th January, 1891, in the barony of Deeies- without- Drum, parish of Dungarvan, obtained under false pretences, from George F. Power, watchmaker, Dungarian, two watches described elsewhereWore a mousUohe and imperial, brown eyes, regular Lose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 54 years of age, sandy- gray hair 5 wore a black felt hat, black overcoat, and gray trowders. He stated he was agent for Wilson and Jenner, London, to collect debts. A Warrant for his arrest hus been issued. Dungarvan, 2nd Feb., 1891. ( 7314 c 85799.) Wexford. Description of PATRICK KELLY, alias MOFFAT, who stands charged with having,, on the 10th January, in the barony of Gorey, parish of Inch, committed an indecent assault and attempted rape on Frances Johnston:— Wants some front teeth, dark eyes, rather long noee, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 11 inches high, about 36 or 40 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard hat. pilot ooat, brown check trowrers and vest, bellows- tongued boots with iron plates across the toes; is a tramp labourer. This man is not Kke a labourer, and he possesses some education. Warrant lor his arrest. Gorey, 17th January, 1891. ( 7017c— 85272.) Description of EDWARD GRANNELLS, native of Enniscorthy, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd January, 1891, in the barony of Scarawalsh, parish of St. Mary's, indeoently assaulted Mary Anne Sullivan:— Slightly bow- legged, square shoulders, sandy moustache, face shaved, light gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 24 years of age, looks older, sandy hair; wore a dark blue sack coat, dark blue trowsers and vest; is a cot man. Warrant issued. Enniscorthy, 10th January, 1891. ( 6878 c.— 85056.) Wicklow. Description of HENRY JOHNSTON, native of county Wexford ( supposed New Ross), who stands charged with having, on the 2nd day of December, 1890, in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Kilcommon, stolen five bags of oats, the property of Margaret Jones, of Bohana:— Wants an upper front tooth, mark of boil on left cheek near ear, dark eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore an old gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all much worn; is a tramping labourer. Warrant for his ariest in the hands of District Inspector at wicklow. Wicklow, 4th December, 1810. ( 6391 c 84062.) Description of PATRICK KERRIGAN, alias CONNOR or COMBER, native of Dumana, county Gal way, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1890, in the barony of Upper Talbotstown, parish of Baltinglass, committed perjury:— Gray eyes, long nose, sallow c jmplexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, black hair turning gray; wore a dark hard hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest s is a horse and cattle dealer. Speaks with a Galway accent; deals in Connemara ponies; is known to the Police in Kildare, Carlow, Meath, Tyrone, Wexrord, and Roscommon, where he has prosecuted parties for larceny from the person. Warrant for his arrest. Dunlavin, Ith November, 1190. ( 5848. c— 82977). DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. C Division. Description of a juvenile offender who absconded from Glencree Reformatory School, on 14th December, at about 8 o'clock:— PATRICK BYRNE, 2312, about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout make, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ordinary nose, ordinary mouth, oval visage; formerly belonged to Roundtown, Dublin. His mother, Mary Byrne, was servant in police station, Roundtown, some years ago. " P" and other tattoo marks on right arm, crosses, & e., on left. His uncle, Thomas Byrne, resides at 39, Doyle's- court, off New- street, and his uncles Ned and Andy Byrne are firemen on board a boat that plies between the North Wall and other ports. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of:— Cloth cap, ( Scotch make), corduroy jacket, trowsers, and vest, elastic belt, strong nailed boots, No. 2312. A reward of £ 1 will be given for his apprehension, and all expenses paid. December 15th, 1890. 366 h. c. 19 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair hair, gray eyes, fair complexion, medium figure, no whiskers, very slight fair moustache, no beard ; dressed in black coat, vest, and trowiers, lace- up boots sup- posed to be new, black hard felt hat; relations live at Brighton; may possibly enlist. Information to Major TEEVAN, Chief Constable of Hove. Chief Constable's Office, Hove, 2nd February, 1891. ( 375 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict JOHN WILLIAM- SON, c. 35, convicted at Hilary Sessions, Dublin, on 11th January, 1886, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on convic- tion, single; is a labourer; born at Swords; resided in Dublin before conviction, where his friends reside. Description :— Black hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, round visage, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high; burn mark under right breast. This man was released from Maryboro' prison on licence, 17th December, 1389, and r ent to reside in Dublin. He recently left his loggings, 6, Moore's- cottages, Upper Rutland- street, without notifying change of residence to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. 15th December, 1890. ( 361 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Lancashire, Absconded on the 10th inst., and now charged by Warrant with embezzlemear, JAMES BURNS MEUDELL, a joiner by trade, and lately superin- tendent of one of the Corporation Baths in this city. He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round full faoe, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, full whiskers and moustache; dressed when last seen is a dark ribbed cloth morning coat and vest, dark trowsers, hard black billycock hat, and low shoe*. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places, and if found, arrest and wire to George WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Liverpool, Sift October, 1690. ( 353 H. C.) Description of BENJAMIN HIGGS, alias TED HIGGS, native of Kensworth, resided at Hove, wanted on Warrant for larceny at Hove, on the 81st October, 1890:— 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, brown hair, gray eyes, sharp thin nose, sallow oomplexion, very slight figure, long droop- ing moustache, walks upright and quickly; dressed in black Oxford hat, blade dust coat, brown vest, gray striped trowsers, button boots; is a butcher. Was apprenticed at Ealing, and may be found in Smithfield Market Information to MAJOR TEEVAN, Chief Censtabk of Hove. Chief Constable's Office, Hove, 5th November, 1890. ( 357 H. C.) SCOTCH POLICE. Ayrshire, JOHN M'DONALD, F. L. 1036, described in issue of 2nd December, not arrested. ( 354 H. C.) norfolkshire. Man, giving name of GRANT, described in issue of 21st November, not arrested. ( 344 H. C.) Snssex. on Description of SYDNEY BROOK, wanted Warrant, for stealing moneys at Hove, the property of his masters;— A clerk, birthplace Brighton, about Dumfrieshire. Wanted here, charged with forging and uttering a bank cheque for £ 46 on the Commercial Bank:— JOHN BLAIR, a seedsman's clerk, 32 years of age, 6 feet high, dark hair inclined to curl, dark moustache, no whiskers, brown eyes, long full face, fresh com- plexion proportionate build, walks erect, smart respectable appearance, and good looking; is a Scotch- man ; dressed in a dark round felt hat, and dark tweed jacket suit, may have drab- coloured dust coat, or may change his clothing. His father is said to reside in Rothesay. May endeavcur to leave the country. Warrant granted. Police officers are requested to make pnrtic alar search and enquiry for this man, and if found, apprehend, search person, & c., and wire to subscriber, JOBN MALCOLM, Supt. of Police. Burgh Police Chambers, Dumfries, 5th January, 1891. ( 371 H. C.) Edinburgh. PETER cOUPER ( embezzlement), described in previous issue, not arrested. ( 388 H. C.) glasgow. Wanted, on a Sheriff's Warrant, for embezzlement of £ 44 18 « . 5d., the property of Robert French, whole- sale jeweller, 118, Trongate, Glasgow, in whoso employment he was as clerk:— JOHN BROWN, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, whitish face, very dark hair, very slight dark . moustache, otherwise clean shaved; dressed when last seen in a light- coloured felt hat, dark tweed double- breasted jacket, and light- checked trowsers. Takes active interest in football playing, and was a playing member of the ClyJe Junior Eleven Football Club, Glasgow. Resided at 574, Gallowgate, Glasgow, with his stepfather. Absconded on or about the 12th inttant. Please cause dilig nt search and enquiry to be made for this man at shipping offices atd other lil e'y places, also to Football Secretaries, and should ho be got, arrest, and wire to J. BOYD, Chief Constable, Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, when he will be sent for. Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 20th December, 1890, ( 370 H. C.) FORGERY OF BILLS OF EXCHANGE. Wanted on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with having, between 9th September last and 9th inst., forged the name of an Umbrella Manufacturer, in this city, to three Bills of Exchange, amounting in all to £ 215 16s. 3d., which he discounted in a bank in this city, JOHN W. PATERSON, sole partner of the firm of Peterson and Co., packing box makers, 198 to 202, Rottenrow, Glasgow:— From 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, ordinary make, pale- faced, brownish whiskers and moustache, dark brown hair, sunken peculiar eyes; dressed when last seen in dark clothes and black felt hat; speaks with Scotch accent; is married, and resided at Muirhed, Chryston, Lanark- shire. Absconded yesterday evening. Will probably endeavour to leave the country. Please cause diligent fearch and enquiry to be made * at hotels, shipping, shipping offices, and other likely places; and should accused be got arrest and wire J. These men were canvassing for a firm of photo- graphers in Glasgow, and had the dogcart hired by the week, which was paid regularly for • time. The pony was their own.
