WT All Notice* intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unloss they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. *„• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the oovers, or give the number it bears, as without, this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fec., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Ory " no longer necessary. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT^ ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim, Description of a MAN, name unknown, native of Poland, Russia, who stands charged with having, on the night of ' 2th cr morning of 13th October, 1890, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Tomple- patrick, stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Hugh Barron, of Craigarogan, the following articles, viz.:— A silver Geneva watch, No. 85, 607 or 85,608; stcol chain with pendant attached, red on one side, blue on other, a crack on red aide ;• a black serge coat and ve « t, trimmed with braid, nearly new; a pair of strong laced boots, newly mended, with patches on solos at toes; a corduroy purse containiug lid.:— Turn in his eyes, turns out bis toes when walking, no hair on face except small light moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair ; supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, as ho left his own old ones behind him; is a labourer, A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Clare, Description of PETER MURRIN, native placo unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd vTjpbor, 1890, in the barony of Tulla Lower, parish of Ogonnelloe, stolen a mare, the property of Messrs. Bailey and Bostock, menagerie proprietors, which he afterwards sold:— Speaks with an English accent, blue eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches higb, about 30' years of ago, dark hair; wore a shabby d coat, trowrers, and vost; is a stable help. Description of MICHAEL GOGGIN and JAMES GOGGIN, natives rf Ballinagree, and JEREMIAH NEILL, native of Rahalisk, county Cork, who stand charged with having, on the 5th November, 1890, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Donoughmora, seriously assaulted one William R. Hounihan, of Derry, county Cork :— 1. High cheek bones, sharp chin, awkward gait, no beard or whiskers, gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 20 years of age, black hair; wore a round soft hat, grey tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Shaves all his face except moustache which is black, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, re und face, stout rrako, 5 ieet 8 inches high, about 24 jears of age, black hair; wore a hard hat, gray coat, dark trowssrs and vest; is a labourer. 3. No beard or whiskers, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round faces, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a cap, dark coat, gray trowsers and vest; is a labourer. WILLIAM M'GREGORY ( burglary described in issue of 7th November, not arrested. 24th September, 1890. ( 4966 c— 81457.) Galway. Description of JOHN BURNS, native of Tulla- more, who stands charged with having, on the 7th November, 1890, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, broken into a dwelling house, and attempted to commit rape :— Scar on right eyebrow, slight squint in one eye, scar on left groin; dark or brown eyes, regular nose, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of ago, dark hair, dark moustache, which he may cut off; wore a soft cap, sack coat, plaid trowsers, and vest; supposed to be wearing a stripel muffler round his neck. Is said to be a shoemaker, and a native of King's County, near Tullamore. Belonged to Connaught Rangers from which he has now deserted. Galway, 7th Nov., 1890. ( 5898 83061.) Description of THOMAS WALSH and JOHN WALSH ( their mother's surname Prendergast), natives of Bohermore, CO. Galway, who stand charged with having, on the 1st October, 1890, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, maliciously injured tho walls and roof of a house, and stolen timber there- from :— 1. Tatooed on both arms, hazel eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, about 25! years of ago, dark brown hair; wore an old low lat, and common labourer's clothes ; is an assistant blacksmith. 9. Three blue dots betwean thumb and forefinger of left hand, sore- mark on left shin where bone was broken and splinter came oat, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches higb, about 19 years of a » e, dark brown hair; wore an old low hat, and common labourer's clothes; is an assistant blacksmith. These men may be found at iron works or forges, and may not keep together. They were out on bail, but failed to appear at Galway Quarter Sessions to stand their trial Warrant for their arrest in har ds of the District Inspector, at Galway. CONNELL, native of Gosport, Hants, who stands charged with having, on the 4 th October, 1890, in the barcny of Trughanackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen £ 25, the property of Major Henry Murray, Royal Munster Fusiliers:— Thick lips and a misshapen nose, hazel eyes, flat nose, fresh complexion, ! ull face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tag coat, bright trowsers, dark vest; is a clerk. Description of PATRICK LANNERY ( mother's surname Cantwell), native of Straleek, county Kildare, and PATRICK LAWLESS, native of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 18S0, at Loughlinstown, in the barony of South Salt, parish of Donaghcomper, assaulted Patrick Malony, of AUen- wood, and robbed him of 14s.- € d. on the highway:— 1. Brown eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, black hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, white moleskin trowscrs, and dark vest, is a boatman. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin sharp face, slight make, 5 feat 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft black Jim Crow hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, is a boatman. Description cf JOHN RYAN, alias SAMMON, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 28th of June, 1890, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Kilmurry Ely, stolen a saddle snd bridle:— Slightly pockpitted, brown eyes, regul ar nose, fresh complexion, oval face, proportionate make, 5 feet inches high, about 47 years of age, black hair; wore a brown Jerry hat turning red fiom age, old black frock coat, and corduroy trowsers; is a labourer. M Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about p. m, in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Durrow, entered the hou e of Peter Geoghegan, of Ballinamona, and robbed him of the sum f £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown:— 1. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and short dark coat. 2. Fair complexion, shaved faca, 5 feat 8 or 9 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and dark tweed suit. Description of MAURICE WOLFE, native. of Russia, wl. o stands charged with having, on the 2nl October, 1890, at Drogheda, in tbe barony of Drogheda parish of t> t Peter's, unlawfully stolen, t- ken, and carried away tlie following articles of wearing apparel, the property of one David Brudno viz.;— One double- breasted brown coat, value £ 1 2* 6d.; a single vest, same material; a boy's dark gray overcoat, value Is. 6d.; a blue pilot overcoat, valua 18s.; a dark gray sack coat, value * s ; a hard round hat, maker's name " Robinson, Drogheda"; arid saveral other articles ol wearing apparel:— Black eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion m dium make. 5 leet 5 inches h'gh, about 21 years of age, black early hair; wore a black telt hat, dark coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, strong laced boots with nails may be wearing some ol tt. e stolen articles; is a pedlar. Has friends residing in Jewish Synagogue, Lennox- street, Dublin. Warrant for his arrest is is bands of D. I. at Drogheda. Drogheda, 5th October, 1890. ( 5146 c— 18781.) Mayo. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycastle, wl o is of weak intellect, and missing from his home, a' Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore :— Brown eyes, long thin drooped no sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 35 years of age, short back, black hair, thin beard; wore a one- peak brown tweed cap, velvet coat corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, and clogs ; is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police. Ballaghaderreen, 1st Oct., 18S0. ( 5159 c.— 81799.) Tipperary. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on tho 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed onn Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thoreby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pale complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feat 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray suit ot clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 80115.) Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, C 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; bora at Clonmel, where he resided bafora conviction, and where his friends reside;— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5- J inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In tbe event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 118. ( 331 H. C.) JOHN LYNCH ( sheep stealing), described ia issue of 3rd October, not arrested. THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS native of Armagh, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 18 JO. ( 4213 c.— 80381.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Wicklow. Description of PATRICK KERRIGAN, native of Dumana, county Galway, who stands charged with having, on the 14th Julv, 1890, in the barony of Upper Talbotstown, parish of Baltinglass, committed perjury:— Gray eyes, long nose. sallow complexion, 1ong face, medium make, 5 feat 7 i ches high, about 60 years ef age, black hair turning gray ; wore a d . rk hard hat dark coat, trowsers, and vast; is a horte and cattle dealer. Description of LAWRENCE MOONEY, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1890, in the barony of Arklow, parish of Kilpoola, made his essapa fro n Wi klow Gaol, where he had baen confined on ramand charged with la ce iy of money:— Blue eyes, long nose fresh com- plexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3J inches h gh, about 16 yeira of ase, lair hair ; wor< a brown h. rd hat, old gray tweed c" at, daik tweed trowsers and rest, black tia, and liced boots; is a licenced car- di iver n Dublin. Absconded on the 10th inst., and now charged by Warrant with embezzlement, JAMES BURNS MEUDELL, a joiner by trade, and lately superin- tendent of one of the Corporation Baths in this city. He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round full face, fresh complexion, d irk brown hair, full whiskers and moustache; dressed when last seen in a dark ribbed cloth morning coat and vest, dark trowsers, hard black billycock hat, and low shoes. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places, and if found, arrast and wire to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Liverpool, 21st October, 1890. ( 353 H. C.) Lincolnshire. Description of DAVID SMITH ( supposed false), who stands charged on Warrant with having, on the 21st day of September, 1890, in the parish of Luddington, feloniously set fire to 8 wheat stacks, 2 oat stacks, 1 hay stack, and 2 straw stacks, the property of Thomas Bladworth :— From 21 to 24 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexion, blue eye , light brown hair cut short, very slight light moustache, no whiskers, slim build. Dressed in brown check cloth coat, dark cloth trowsers and vest, white neckerchief, light rough cloth cap, peak of same material, and light lace boots. May be gathering rags and bones, rather fond of singi » g in public houses, likely to ba found in low b or or lodging houses. It is particularly requested that inquiry may be made, and information given promptly to JOHN TAYLOR, Superintendent. Epworth Station, 2 7th October, 1890. ( 355 H. O ) norfolkshire. Wanted at King's Lynn, a man of the following description, for stealing. 01 tha 9th instant, from tha platform of the railway station, a brown leather hand- bag ( recovered) from which he abstracted a cheque, dated 7th or' 8th September, 1890, for £ 50, on Coutts and Co's., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour, of R. O. Ridley, which was not endoreoc", also about 20 blank cheques of Gurney and Co's. Bank, ell numbered " I9318:— He gave the name of GRANT, which may ba fictitious, aged about 28 years, 5 feet 0 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light bfown hair, small ginger moustache, ( pare build; dressed in black coat, gray or mixed trowsers, black felt hat; gentlemanly appearance, and stated he was a commercial. Will probably utter Coutts and Co's. cheque, No. p/ 16 6034 and may issue forged cheques in the name of R. O. Ridley, on Gurney's Bank, to hotel or lodging house keepers. Please warn all bankers, hotel proprietors, and others, and if arrested wire to GEORGE WARE, Chief Constable. Police Office, King's Lynn, 13th September, 1890. ( 344 H. C.) Sussex. Description of BENJAMIN HIGGS, alias TED HIGGS, native of Kensworth, resided at Hove, wanted on Warrant for larceny at Hove, on the 31st October, 1890:— 26 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inch- 8 high, brown hair, gray eves, sharp thin nose, sallow complexion, very slight figure, long droop- ing monstache, walks upright and quickly ; dressed ia black Oxford hat, black dust coat, brovn vest, gr « iy striped trowsers, button boots; is a butcher. Was apprenticed at Ealing, and may be found in Smithfield Market. Information to MAJOR TEEVAN, Chief Constable of Hove. Chief Constable's Office, Hove, 5th November, 1890. ( 357 H. C.) Warwickshire. Particulars of JOHN DENT, charged with forgery and embezzlement to the amount of £ 500, is a jewel- ler's commercial traveller, native of Birmingham, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slight build, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, full dark eyes; walks with a swaggering gait, and l as a peculiar lab it of shrugging his shoulders; generally carries a walking stick; slightly spray- footed; dressed in a hard billycock hat, li. bt melton overcoat or dust coat, dark tweed trowsers, and lace- up boots. Warrant issued. Informtion to J. FARNDALE, Esq., Chief Con- stable, Birmingham. JAMES BLACK, Detective Superintendent. Birmingham, 30th Oct, 1890. ( 356 H. C.) Westmoreland. Escaped from H. M. Prison, Kendal, on Wednesday, September 24th, 1890, about six p. m., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, farm labourer, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown curly hair, slight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate build, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Marks— cut mark on top pert of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. Dress— Red striped cotton shirt, light moleskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of dress uncertain. Has been convicted as follows:— Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July, 1880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, two months. Longtown Petty Sessions, 2nd June, 1887 ; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, 1888; felony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury, 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Kendal Quarter Sessions, 4th July, 1890; felony, 18 months and three years' police supervision. Information to LUKE TALBOT, Chief Constable. Borough Police Office, Kendal, 2nd October, 1890. ( 348 H. Yorkshire. - Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, datk brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat, Warrant issued. f Information to FRED. Ayrshire, Wanted on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of a looking- glass ( recovered) from Soldiers' Home, here, on 18th instant, also failing to report, Licence holder JOHN M'DONALD, F. L 1036:— 42 years of age, S feet 7 inches in height, dark complexion, slight black moustache and imperial, dark brown hair, hazel eyes; marks, scar right eyebrow, mole forehead and both cheeks, flag, stars and stripes, right forearm, gnn below nipples, T. M. and 4 blue marks centre chest, flag arid E. S. front and E. S back left forenrm, two blue dots between thumb and finger loft hand; dress, black felt hat, dark clothing ( coat with pockets at sides), well worn, Lorne shoes. Sentenced for theft at Jedburgh, 26th March, 1877, to 18 months; 8t Edinburgh, 17th November, 1879, to 5 years, and at Edinburgh 12th January, 1885, to 7 years' penal servitude. Was discharged on Licence from H. M. Prison, Portland, on 4th Jaly, 1890. Is a musician, has in his possession a clarionet, given him in loan to play on streets, which he may dispose of and endeavour to obtain other instruments on loan. Associates with musicians and sol > ierg, and puts up at common lodging houses, may seek employ- ment at theatres, music hall & c. Police Chambers, Ayr, 23rd October, 1890. ( 354 H. C.) Clackmannanshire. AMENDED DESCRIPTION. Wanted here on a Warrant charged with stealing £ 43, the property of the Alloa Coal Company, and who absconded on the 12th October:— JAMES MILLER, a clerk, 33 years of age, 5 feet or 10 inches high, long neck, brown hair, short brown side whiskers and moustache, otherwise clean shaved, large forehead, prominent nose, projecting eyes, long thin face, thick lips, keeps them apart, mark of old cut on under lip, walks erect with qnick short steps ; dressed in hard black felt bat, black diagonal corded coat and vest, dark gray striped trousers, white shirt, Shetland gray worsted semmit and drawers, lacing boots with toecaps ; has a respectable appearance. had in his possession when he absconded a j- plate gold lever watch, No. 11,204, compensation balance, and jewelled in 8 holes, which he may dispose of at watchmakers or pawns.
