CP" All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, DnBJin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castl* of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, ( fee., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Antrim, Description of a MAN, name unknown, native of Poland, Russia, who stands charged with having, on the night of 12th cr morning of 13th October, 1890, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Temple- patrick, stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Hugh Barron, of Craigarogan, the following articles, viz.:— A silver Geneva watch, No. 85, 607 or 85,608; steel chain with pendant attached, red on one side, blue on other, a crack on red side; a black serge coat and vest, trimmed with braid, nearly new; a pair of strong laced boots, newly mended, with patches on soles at toes;, a corduroy purse containing 1 Id.:— Turn in his eyes, turns out hi3 toes when walking, no hair on face except small light moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round face, very stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes, as he left his own old oneB behind him; is a labourer. A Warrant has been issued fOr his arrest. Antrim, 17th October, 1890. ( 5463 c.— 82308.) Clare. Description of PETER MURRIN, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd October, 1890, in the barony of Tulla Lower, parish of Ogonnelloe, stole a a mare, the property ot Messrs. Bailey and Bostock, menagerie proprietors, which he afterwards sold:— Speaks with an English accent, blue eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a shabby tweed coat, troweefs, and vest; is a stable help. The mare has been recovered. Killaloe, 29th October, 1890. ( 5689 8-; 705.) H& C8C COrk acription of JOHN LOONEY, native of Bandon, who stands charged with having, on the 7th April, 1890, in the barony of Kinalmeaky, parish of Baliy- moden, deserted his four children, so that they became destitute, and are since the 23rd April, 1890, relieved in the Workhouse of the Bandon Union :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of Police at Bandon. Bandon, 15th Sept., 1890. ( 4775 a— 81104.) Down. Description of WILLIAM M'GREGORY, native of Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of September, 1890, in the barony of Iveagh Lower, lower half, parish of Seapatrick, entered the dwellinghouse of William Dale, of Drumnagally, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 2, consisting of two notes, numbers unknown:— Scar on right side of neck, speaks with a Scotch accent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin face, medium icake, 5 ieet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, checked trowsers, dark veet, and military boots ; is a discharged soldier, a shoemaker, and also works as a farm labour. Warrant in hands of the Police at Banbridge. Banbridge, 24th Sept, 1890. ( 4966 c— 81457.) galway. Description of THOMAS WALSH and JOHN WALSH ( their mother's surname Prendergast), natives of Bohermore, co. Galway, who stand charged with having, on the 1st October, 1890, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, maliciously injured the walls and roof of a house, and stolen timber there- from :— 1, Tetooed on both arms, hazel eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight maKe, 5 feet inches high, about 22 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old low bat, and common labourer's clothes ; is an assistant blacksmith. 2. Three blue dots between thumb and forefinger of left hand, sort- mark on left shin where bone was broken and splinter came oat, blue eyes, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, tbin face, slight make, 5 ieet inches high, about 19 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old low hat, and common laboufer's clothes; is an assistant blacksmith. These men may be found at iron works or forges, and may not keep together. They were out on bail, but failed to appear at Galway Quarter Sessions to stand their trial. Warrant for their arrest in hands of the District Inspector, at Galway. Galway, October, 1890. ' 15268 c.- 82704.) Kerry. Description of Colour - Sergeant THOMAS C. CONNELL, native of Gosport, Hants, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1890, In the barony of Trugbanackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen £ 25, the property ot Major Henry Murray, Royal Munster Fusiliers:— Thick lips and a misshapen nose, hazel eyes, flat nose, fresh complexion, lull face, medium make, 5 ieet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tag coat, bright trowsers, dark vest; is a clerk. Tralee, 5th October, 1890. ( 5182 81841.) Kildare. Description of PATRICK LANNERY ( mother's surname Cantwell), native of Straleek, county Kildare, and PATRICK LAWLESS, native of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1890, at Loughlinstown, in the barony of South Salt, parish of Donaghcomper, assaulted Patrick Malony, of Allen- wood, and robbed him of 14s. 6d. on the highway:— 1. Brown eyes, regular nosa, swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 23 years of age, black hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, white moleskin trowsers, and dark vest, is a boatman. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin sh « rp face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft black Jim Crow bat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, is a boatman. Thesa men may be found at James's- street harbour, Portobello, or with the Grand Canal Com pany's boats. Naas, 25th October, 1890. ( 5642 c— 82684.) JOHN HARRIS and JOHN POWER ( riot, dec.), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. ( 4266 80449.) King's. Description of JOHN RYAN, alias SAMMON, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 28th of June, 1890, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Kilmurry Ely, stolen a saddle and bridle:— Slightly pockpitted, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval iace, proportionate make, 5 feet 3$ inches high, about 47 years of age, black hair; wore a brown Jerry hat turning red from age, old black frock coat, and corduroy trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant has been issued. Shinrone, 31st Oct., 1890. 3261 o 82790. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about 9£ p. m., in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Durrow, entered the house of Peter Geoghegan, of Ballinamona, and robbed him of the sum of £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown :— 1. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of cge; wore a black hat and short dark coat. 2. Fair complexion, shaved face, 5 feet 8 or 9 inch ™ high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and dark tweed suit. Description of MAURICE WOLFE, native of Russia, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd October, 1890, at Drogheda, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St Peter's, unlawfully stolen, taken, and carried away the following articles of wearing apparel, the property of one David Brudno, viz.:— One double- breasted brown coat, value £ 1 ' 2s. 6d.; a single vest, same material; a boy's dark gray overcoat, value 7 « . 6d.; a blue pilot overcoat, VB- lua 1 ; a dark pray sack coat, value 8 « ; a hard round hat, maker's name " Robinson, Drogheda"; and several other articles of wearing apparel:— Black eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, medium make, 5 leet 5 inches high, about 21 years of age, black curly hair; wore a black felt hat,, dark coat, gray tweed trowsers and \ est, strong laced boots with nails, may ba wearing some of the stolen articles; is a pedlar. Has friends residing in Jewish Synagogue, Lennox- street, Dublin. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of D. I. at Drogheda. Drogheda, 5th October, 1890. ( 5146 c.— 18781.) Mayo. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycastle, who is of weak intellect, and missing from his home, at Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore:— Brown eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 35 year- of age, short back, black hair, thin beard t wore a i ne- peak brown tweed cap, velvet coat, corduroy trowner>>, black tweed vest, and clogs; is a labourer. A Warrant f or his arrest is in the hands of the Police. Ballaghaderreen, 1 st Oct., 1890. ( 5159 c.— 81799.) Roscommon. Description of JOHN QUINN ( mother's surname M'Govern), native of Clooneycarn, who stands charged with having, on the 14th day of Octobor. 1890, ia the barony of Roscommon, parish of Lissonuffy, unlawfully assaulted one John Farrell, thereby endangering his life :— Knock- kneed, large mouth, thick lips, generally keeps lis mouth open, dark eyes, thin nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 leet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, black tinged with gray hair; wore a fiat- crowned tweed cap with one peak, dark tweed coat, corduroy trowserS, an. 1 dark tweed v st, is a labourer. Quinn is likely to endeavour to go to England. Warrant for his amat in the hands of H. J. Walsh, Esq., D. I., R. I. C, Strokes town. Strokestown, 2 « th Oct., 1880. 5424 c.— 826S3. Tipperary. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on tho 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanngh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pa'e complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray suit of clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 c.— 80115.) ,4. Wicklow. Description of LAWRENCE MOONEY, native of Dublin, who stands charged with h iving, on the 14th October, 1890, in the barony of Arklov, parish of Kilpoole, made his escape from Wicklow Gaol, where he had been confined on remand charged with larceny of money:— Blue eyes long nose, fresh com- plexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3£ inches high, about 16 yeara ul a; e, fair hair ; wore a brown h ird hat, old gray tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, black tie, and laced boots; is a licenced car* driver in Dublin. Has friends in Dublin, Kingstown, and Rathdrum. information sworn and warrant in hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 16th Oct., 1890. ( 54S. 7 c — 82267.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. CI Division. Particulars relative to Convict HUGH MUL- DOON, alias WILLIAM JOHN JACKsON. A 756, convicted at Trinity Sessions, Belfast, county Antrim, on the 10th July, 1833, f r larceny and a previous conviction for felony, an') sentenced to 8 years' p- rial servitude, and 5 years' police supervision:— 35 year « of oge on conviction, single, dealer; born at Omagh, resided before conviction at Belfast; dark brown hair turning; gray, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, small n e, small m uth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 6 feet 5£ inches high, lost right eye. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on i -' cence, on 16th August, 1890, and went to Belfast. He left his lodgings in that city on 22nd July, ultimo without notifying • ame to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest ha should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5. 15th September, 1890. ( 345 H. C.) Convict MARY MACVICKER, described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. General Prisons Board, 21st August, 1890. ( 339 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst,, ho is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., oap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) JOHN LYNCH ( sheep stealing), described in issue of 3rd Octol) er, not arrested. THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS. native of Armagh, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 28th October, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hueand- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Lancashire. Absconded on the 10th inst., end now charged by Warrant with embezzlement, JAMES BURNS MEUDELL, a joiner l> y trade, and lately superin- tendent of one of the Corporation Baths in this city. He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round full face, fresh complexion, dork bnwn hair, full whiskers and moustache; dressed when last seen in a dark ribbed cloth morning coat and vest, da » k trowsers, hard black billycock hat, and low shoes. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places, and if found, arrast and wire to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Liverpool, 21st October, 1890. ( 353 H. C.) Lincolnshire. • Description of DAVID SMITH ( supposed faLse , who stands charged on Warrant with iiaving, on tho S i st day of September, 1890, in the parish of Luddington, feloniously set fire to 8 wheat i tac s, 2 oat stacks, I hay stack, and 2 straw stacks, the property of Thomas Bladworth :— From 21 to 24 years oi age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexion, blue eye-, light biown hair cut short, very slight light moustache, no whiskers, slim build. Dressed in brown check cloth coat, dark cloth trowsers and vest, white neckerchief, light rough cloth cap, peak of same material, and light lace boots. May be gathering rags and bones, rather iond of singing in public houses, likely to be found in low b. er or lodging houses. It is particularly requested that inquiry may be made, and information given promptly to JOHN TAYLOR, Superintendent. Epworth Station, 27th October, 1890. ( 355 H. O ) Wanted for stealing money and bed- clothes:— MINA JURY, alias ADA LEMPeRIE, alias M. L. SMITH, alias AGNES CALLAGHAN or CLARE, a Convict on licence, Convict office No. 38887, 53 years of age, 5 fet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth, scars on left forearm, stays at common lodging- houses. She committed the theft at a common lodging- house in this borough. She is also wanted by the Metropolitan Police for failing to notiiy her change of residence. See p. Police Gazette May 2nd, 1890. Prison, Kendal, on Wednesday, September 24th. 18 0, : ibo# six p. r., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, farm labourer, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown curly hair, slight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate build, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Marks— cut mark on top part of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. Dress— Red striped cotton shut, light moleskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of drcs s uncertain. Has been convicted as follows Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July, 1880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, tvo months. Longtown Petty Sessions, Snd June, 1887; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, 1888, f lony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury, 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Wanted at King's Lynn, a man of the following description, for stealing, on the 9th instant, from the platform of the railway station, a brown leather hand- bag ( recovered) from which he abstracted a cheque, dated 7th or 8th September, 1890, for £ 20, on Coutts and Co's., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour of R. O. Ridley, which was not endorsed, also about 20 blank cheques of Gurney and Co's Bank, all numbered ° 19318 :— He gave the name of GRANT, which may be fictitious, aged about 28 years, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light brown hair, small ginger moustache, spare build; dressed in black coat, gray or mixed trowsers, black felt hat; gentlemanly appearance, and stated he was a commercial. Yorkshire. Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat. Warrant issued. Information to FRED. T. WEBB, Chief Constable, Leeds. Borough of Leeds, 20th September, 1890. ( 346 H. C.) SCOTCH POLICE. Ayrshire. Wanted on a Sheriff's Warrant, for theft of a looking- glass ( recovered) from Soldiers' Home, here, on 18th instant, also failing to report, Licence holder JOHN M'DONALD, F. L. 1036:— 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches in height, dark complexion, slight black moustache and imperial, dark brown hair, hazel eyes; marks, scar right eyebrow, mole forehead and both cheeks, flag, stars and stripes, right forearm, gun below nipples, T. M. and 4 blue marks centre cho^ m- flag and E. S. front and E. S. back left forearm, tm blue dots between thumb and finger left hand; dress, black felt hat, dark clothing ( coat with pockets at sides), well worn, Lome shoos. Sentenced for theft at Jedburgh, 26th March, 1877, to 18 months; at Edinburgh, 17th November, 1879, THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 7, 1890. to 5 years, and at Edinburgh, 12th January, 1885, to .7 years' penal servitude. Was discharged on Licence from, H. M. Prison, Portland, on 4th July, 1890. Is a musician, has in his possession a clarionet, given him in loan to play on streets, which he may dispose of and endeavour to obtain other instruments on loan. Associates with musicians and soldiers, and puts np at common lodging- houses, may seek employ- ment at theatres, music hall, & c. Police officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for the above described person, and should he be traced or apprehended communicate with WM. M'KAY, Superintendent. Police Chambers, Ayr, 23rd October, 1890. ( 354 H. C.) Clackmannanshire. Wanted here on a charge of stealing £ 43, the property of his employers:— JAMES MILLER, a clerk, 33 years of age, 5 feet or 10 inches high, lopg neck, dark brown hair, brown side whiskers and moustache, otherwise clean shaved, large forehead, prominent nose, large projecting eyes, long thin face, thick lips and keeps them apart, mark of old cut on under lip, walks erect with quick short step, addicted to drink; dressed in a black hard felt hat, black corded coat and vest, dark gray striped trowsers, lacing boots; speaks with a Scotch accent; is a native of Alloa. May endeavour to go abroad or seek employment at colliery offices, etc. Warrant issued. Information to THOS. NICOL, Supt. of Police, Burgh Chambers, Alloa. Absconded on the 12th October, current. Description of a silver cross, the property of the Committee of the Roman Catholic Chapel of Melmount, which was stolen from the Chapel of Melmount, near Strabane, parish of Urney, barony of Lower Strabane, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th August, 1890:— Silver cross, about 7 inches long and 3 inches wide, need in connection with a remonstrance; value for about £ 2.
