All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dub lin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %* Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Ciy, it will be necessary to forward one of the oovers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Antrim. Description of a MAN, name unknown, native of Poland, Russia, who stands charged with having, oh the night of 12th or morning of 13th October, 1890, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Temple- patrick, stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Hugh Barron, of Craigarogan, the following articles, Tia.:— A silver Geneva watch, No. 85, 607 or 85,608 j steel chain with pendant attached, red on one side, blue on otter, a crack on red side; a black serge coat and vest, trimmed with braid, nearly new; a pair ol strcnj, laccd boots, newly mended, with patches on soles at tees; a corduroy purse containing 11<£.:— Turn in his eyee, turns out his toes when walkiug, no hair on fa; e except small light moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, luir complexion, round lace, very stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of ego, fair hair; supposed to ke wearing the stolen clothes, as he left his own old ones behind him ; is a labourer, A. Description of PETER MURRIN, native place unknown, who stands charged witE having, on the 22cd October, 1890, in the barony of Tulla Lower, parish of Ogonnelloe,' stole a a mare, the property < jf Messrs. Bailey and Rostock, menagerie proprietors, which he afterwards sold:— Speaks with an English accent, blue eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 3 t> r 4 inches high, about £ 0 years of age, dark hair; wore a shabby tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a stable help. ( 5689 c— 82705 ) r Cork* Description of JOHN LOONEY, native of Bandon, who stands charged with having, on the 7th April, 1890, in tie barony ol Kinalmeaky, parish of Bally- moden, deserted his four children, so that they became destitute, and are since the 23rd April, 1890, relieved in the Workhouse of the Bandon Union :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest s is a labourer. Warrant in hands of Police at Bandon. Bandon, 15th Sept., 1890. ( 4775 a— 81104.) Down. Description of WILLIAM M'GREGORY, native of Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of September, 1890, in the barony of Iveagh Lower, lower half, parish of Seapatrick, entered the dwellinghouse of William Dale, of Drumnagally, and stolen therefrom the sum of £ 2, consisting of two notes, numbers unknown :— Scar on right side of neck, speaks with a Scotch accent, gray or bine eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin lace, medium icake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 yours of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, checked trowsers, dark vett, and military boots ; is a discharged soldier, a shoemaker, and also works as a farm labour. Warrant in hands of the Police at Banbridge. Banbridge, 24th Sept., 1890. ( 1966 c— 81457 ) galway. Description of THOMAS WALSH and JOHN WALSH ( their mother's surname Prendergast), natives of Bohermore, cc. Galway, who stand charged with having, on the 1st October, 1890, in the barony of Galway, parish of St. Nicholas, maliciously injur* d the walls t. nd roof of a house, and et jlen timber there- from:— 1. Tatooed on both arms, hazel eyes, ordinary nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, about 2if, years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old low Lat, and common labourer's clothes ; is an assistant blacksmith. 2. Three blue dots between thumb and forefinger of left hand, sort- mark on left stin where bone was broken and splinter came out; blue eyas, ordinary nose, fresh complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, about 19 years of age, dark brown hair; wore an old low hat, and common labourer's clothes; is an assistant blacksmith. These men may be found at iron works or forges, and may not keep together. They were out on bail, but failed to appear at Galway Quarter Sessions to stand their trial. Warrant for their arre3t in bands of the District Inspector, at galway. Galway, October, 1810. ( 5268 o.- 82704.) Kerry. Kildare. Description of PATRICK LANNERY ( mother's surname Cantwell). native of Stralcek, county Kildare, and PATRICK LAWLER, rative of Dublin, who stand charged with having, on the 23rd October, 1890, at Lougblinstown, in the barony of S ) uth Salt, parish of Donaghcomper, assaulted Patrick Malony, of Allen- wood, and robbed him of 14s. Cd. on the highway:— 1. Brown eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abott 23 years of age, black hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, white moleskin trowsera, and dark vest, is a boatman. 2. Gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, thin sharp face, slight make, 5 feot 7 inches high, about 23 years of age, fair hair ; wore a soft black Jim Crow hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers end vest, is a boatman. These men may ba found at James's- street harbour, Poitobello, or with the Grand Canal Com- pany's b > ats. Naas, 25th Octiber, 1890. ( 5642 u.— 82684.) King's, Description cf JOHN RYAN, alias SAMMON, native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the 28th of June, 1990, in the barony of Clonlisk, parish of Kilmurry Ely, stolen a saddle an 1 bridle:— blightly pockpitted, brown eyes, regul . r nose, fresh complexion, oval iace, proportionate make, 5 reet 3- jf inohes high, about 47 years of age, b! ack hair; wore a brown Jerry hat turning red fiom age, old black frock coat, and corduroy trowsers; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about p. m., in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Durrow, entered the hcju, o of Peter Geoghegan, of Balliuamona, und rob bod him of the sum' of £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown :— I. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of age ; wore a black hat and short dark coat. IS. Fair complexion, shaved face, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat aud dark tweed suit. Louth. y ,, Description of MAURICE WOLFE, native of Russia, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd October, 1890, at Drogheda, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St Peter's, unlawfully stolen, taken, and carried away tie following articles of wearing apparel, the property of one David Brudno, viz.:— One double- breasted brown coat, value XI 2*. 6d.; a single vest, same material; a boy's dark gray overcoat, value 7 « . 6d.; a blue pilot overcoat, valm 18*.; a dark gray sack coat, value tit.; a hard round hat, maker's name " Robinson, Drogheda"; and several other articles of wearing apparel:— Black eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 21 years of age, black early hair; wore a black felt hat., dark coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, strong laced boots with mils, may- be wearing some of the stolen articles; is a pedlar. Has friends residing in Jewish Syngogue, Lennox- street, Dublin. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of D. I. at Drogheda. Drogheda, 5th October, 1890. ( 5146 a— 18781.) Mayo. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycastle, wbo is of weak intellect, and missing from his home, at Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore :— Brown eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium mako, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 35 years cf age, sboit back, black hair, thin beird j wore a cne- peak brown tweed cup, velvet coa', corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, and clogs; is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police. Ballaghaderreen, 1st Oct., 1890. ( 5159 c.— 81799.) roscommon. Description of JOHN QUINN ( mother's surname M'Govern), native of Clooneycarn, who stands charged with having, on the 14lh day of October. 1890, ia the barony of Roscommon, parish of Lissonuffy, unlawfully assaulted one John Farrell, thereby endangering his life :— Knock- kneed, large mouth, thick lips, generally keepi l is mouth open, dark eyes, thin nose, dark com- plexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 year. of age, black tinged with gray hair 5 wore a flat- crowned tweed cap with one peak, dark tweed coat, corduroy t'owsers, and dark tweed vest, is n labourer. Q dan is likely to endeavour to go to England. Warrant for his arrest in the hands of H. J. Walsh, Esq., D. I., R. I. O, Strokestown. Strokestown, 2eth Oct., 1810. 5124 c.— 826S8. Tipperary. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1890, at Toom, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger- Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pa'e complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray suit of clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 80115.) Particulars relative toConvict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 54 inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst, he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 1 IS. ( 331 H. C.) Wicklow. Description of LAWRENCE MOONEY, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1890, in the barony of Arklow, parish of Kilpoole, made his escape from Wicklow Gaol, where he had bsen confined on remand charged with larceny of money:— Blue eyes, long nose, fresh com- plexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3J inches h gb, about 16 years of age, fair hair ; wore a brown hird bat, old gray tweed ccat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, black tie, and laced boots; is a licenced car- driver in Dublin. Has friends in Dublin, Kingsto vn, and Rathdrum. Information sworn and warrant in hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 16th Oct., 1890. ( 5437 c — 82267.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. Particulars relative to Convict HUGH MUL- DOON, alias WILLIAM JOHN JACKSON, A 756, convicted at Trinity Sessions, Belfast, county Antrim, on the 10th July, 1833, for larceny and a previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 8 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' police supervision:— 35 years of age on conviction, single, dealer, born at Omagh, resided before conviction at Belfast; dark brown hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 J inches high, lost right eye. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on Licence, on 16th August, 1890, and went to B iFast. He left his lodgings in that city on 22nd July, ultimo, without notifying came to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5. 15th September, 1890. ( 345 H. C.) Convict MARY MACVICKER, described in issue of 3 rd October, not arrested. General Prisons Board. 21st A'igust, 1891. ( 339 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Lancashire. Absconded on the 10th inst., and now charged by Warrant with embezzlement, JAMES BURNS MEUDELL, a joiner by trade, and lately superin- tendent of one of the Corporation Baths in this city, He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, round full face, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, full whiskers and mountache; dressed when last seen in a dark ribbed cloth morning coat and vest, dark trowsers, hard black billycock hat, and low shoes. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places, and if found, arrest and wire to GEORGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Liverpool, 21st October, 1890. ( 353 H. C.) Lincolnshire. Description of DAVID SMITH ( supposed false>, who stands charged on Warrant with having, on the 21st day of September, 1890, in the parish of Laddington, feloniously set fire to 8 wheat stacks, 2 oat stacks, 1 hay stack, and 2 straw stacks, the property of Thomas Bladworth :— From 21 to 24 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexioa, blue eye-, light brown hair cut short, very slight light moustache, no whiskers, slim build. Dressed in brown check cloth coat, dark cloth trowsers and vest, white neckerchief, light rough cloth cap, peak of same matorial, and light lace boots. May be gathering rags and bones, rather fond of singing in public houses, likely to be foand in low beer or lodging houses. It is particularly requested that inquiry may be made, and information given pro japtly to JOHBI TAYLOR, Superintendent. Epworth Stati > n, 2 7th October, 1890. ( 355 h. o ) Norfolkshire. Wanted at King's Lynn, a man of the following description, for stealing, on the 9th instant, from the platform of the railway station, a brown leather hand- bag ( recovered) from which he abstracted a cheq as, dated 7th or 8th September, 1890, for £ 20, on C « ntts aad Co's., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour of R. 0. Ridley, which was not endorsed, also about 20 blank cheques of Garney and Co's. Bink, all numbered " 19318 :— He gate the name of GRANT, which may be fictitious, aged about 28 years, 5 feet 10 or U inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light brown hair, small ginger moustache, spare build; drassed ia black coat, gray or mixed irowsere; black felt bat; gentlemanly appearance, a d stated he was a commercial. Will probably utter Coutts and Co's. cheque, No. */ 16 6034, and may issae forged cheques he name of B. p. Ridley, on Gureey's Bank, to hotel or lodging house keepers. Wanted for stealing monsy and bed- clothes:— MINA JURY, alias ADA LEMPERIE, alias M. L. SMITH, alias AGNES CALLAGHAN or CLARE, a Convict on licence, Convict office No. 38887, 53 years of age, 5 fe » t 5 inches high, fresh complexion, gray bair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth, scars on left forearm, stays at common lodging- houses. She committed the theft at a common lodging- house in this borough. She is also wanted by the Metropolitan Police for Tailing to notify her change of residence. See p. Particulars of JOHN DENT, charged with forgery and embezzlement to the amount of £ 500, is a jewel- ler's commercial traveller, native of Birmingham, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slight build, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, full dark eyes; walks with a swagguing gait, and has a peculiar habit of shrugging his shoulders; generally carries a walking stick; slightly spray- footed; dressed in a havd billycock hat, light melton overcoat or dU3t coat, dark tweed trowsers, and lace- up boots. Warrant issued. Information to J. FARNDALE, Esq., Chief Con- sta'- le, Birmingham. JAMES BLACK, Detective Superintendent. B'rmingham, 30th Oct, 1893. ( 356 H. C.) Westmoreland. Escaped from H. M. Prison, Kendal, on Wednesday, September 24th, 18SO, about six p. m., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, farm labourer, 25 yeaTS of age, 5 feet 6 inches higb, brown curly hair, slight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate build, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Marks— cut mark on top part of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. Dress— Red striped cotton shirt, light mo'eskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of dress uncertain. Has been convicted as follows:— Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July, 1880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, two months. Longtown Petty Sessions, 2nd June, 1887; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, 1888; felony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury, 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat. THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMeS NEAl native ol Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS native of Armagh, not wristed; Hue- and- cry, 28th October, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hueand- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) A THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, NOVEMBER 4, 1890. to 5 years, anf ' Edinburgh, 12th January, 1885, to 7 years' penal servitude. Was d is charged on Licence from H. M. Prison, Portland, on 4th July, 1890. Is a musician, has in his possession a clarionet, given him in loan to play on streets, which he may dispose of and endeavour to obtain other instruments on loan. Associates with musicians and soldiers, and puts up at common lodging- houses, may seek employ- ment at theatres, music hall, & c. Police officers are requested to make particular search and inquiry for the above described person, and should he be traced or apprehended communicate with WM. M'KAY, Superintendent. Wanted here on a charge of stealing £ 43, the property of his employers:— JAMES MILLER, a clerk, 33 years of age, 5 feet 9£ or 10 inches high, long neck, dark brown hair, brown side whiskers and moustache, otherwise clean shaved, large forehead, prominent nose, large projecting eyes, long thin face, thick lips and keeps them apart, mark of old cut on under lip, walks erect with quick short step, addicted to drink; dressed in a black hard felt hat, black corded coat and vest, dark gray striped trowsers, lacing boots; speaks with a Scotch accent; is a native of Alloa. Description of a silver cross, the property of the Committee of the Roman Catholic Chapel of Melmount, which was stolen from the Chapel of Melmount, near Strabane, parish of Urney, barony of Lower Strabane, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th August, 1890:— Silver cross, about 7 inches long and 8 inches wide, used in connection with a remonstrance; value for about £ 2.
