REQTJLATIOHTB. % B~ All Notioes intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary Dub lin Castle, authenticated by ci Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn j but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Apprehensions. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Antrim, Description of a MAN, name unknown, native of Poland, Russia, who stands charged with having, on the night of 12th or morning of 13th October. 1890, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Temple- patrick, stolen from tbe dwelling- house of Thomas Hugh Barron, of Craigarogan, the following articles, viz.:— A silver Geneva watch, No. 85,607 or 85,608} steel chain with pendant attached, red on one side, bluo on other, a crack on red aide; a black serge coat and vest, trimmed with braid, nearly new; a pair of strong laced boots, newly mended, with patchto on soles at toes; a corduroy purse containing lid.:— Turn in his eyes, turns out his toes when walking, no hair on face except small light moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round lace, very stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; supposed to be wearing tbe stolen clothes, as he left his own old ones behind him; is a labourer. Description of WILLIAM M'CALLION, alias WILSON ( mother's surname M'Cullough), native of Craigmore, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd September, 1890, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Drummaul, stolen from the dwellinghouse of William Stewart, a suit of clothes and a shawl ( which have since ! een found pawned in Ballymena):— Has a stoppage in his speech and is short- sighted, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a black doth cap, gray tweed coat, and dark tweed trowsers, ill old. A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Antrim, 30th September, 1890. ( 5061 81617.) — 1- cavan. Particulars ielative to Convict PATRICK nOON, c 61, convicted at Cavan, on the 1st Jane, 1886, for Jplo ^ 11 larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude, 64 years of age on conviction, single, dealer, born at drumshambo, county Leitrim, resided before ci nvic- tion at Bailieboro', county Cavan:— Black hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, small fiat nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, getting bald. This man was released on Licence from Maryboro' Prison, on 22nd May, 1890, and wentto Dublin. He left Waterford on 23rd September, 1890, stating be was going to Kilkenny, but he has not reported himself at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event ol his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic , cap. 112. ( 350 H. C.) Cork. Description of JOHN LOONEY, native of Bandon, who stsnds charged with having, on the 7th April, 1890, in tbe barony of Kinalmeaky, parish of Bally- moden, deserted his four children, so that they became destitute, and are since the 23rd April, 1890, relieved in the Workhouse of the Bandon Union :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of Police at Bandon. Bandon, 15th Sept., 1890. ( 4775 o.— 81104.) Down. Description of WILLIAM M'GREGORY, native of Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of September, 1890, in the barony of Iveagh Lower, lower half, parish of Seapatrick, entered the dwellinghouse of William Dale, of Drumnagally, and stolen therefrcm the sum of £ 2, consisting of two notes, number unknown:— Scar on right side of neck, speaks with a Scotch accent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin lace, medium cake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, checked trowsers, dark vest, and military boots ; is a discharged soldier, a shoemaker, and also works as a farm labour. Warrant in hands of the Police at Banbridge. Banbridge, 24th Sept., 1890. ( 4966 c— 81457 ) Kerry. Description of Colour - Sergeant THOMAS C. CONNELL, native of Gosport, Hants, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1890, in the barony of Trughanackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen £ 25, the property of Major Henry Murray, Royal Munster Fusiliers:— Thick lips and a misshapen nose, hazel eyes, flat nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tag coat, bright trowsers, dark vest; is a clerk. Tralee, 5th October, 1890. ( 5182 c._ 81841.) Klldare. PATRICK HARRIS, JOHN HARRIS, and JOHN POWER ( riot, & c.), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. ( 4266 c— 80449.) King's. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about 9£ p. m., in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Durrow, entered the house of Peter Geoghegan, of Ballinamona, and robbed him of the sum of £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown:— 1. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and short dark coat. 2. Fair complexion, shaved face, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and dark tweed • wit. Information sworn, and Warrants are in the hands of the District Inspector at Tullamore. Tullamore, 20th Sept., 1890. ( 4869 c.— 81279.) Londonderry. des- GEORGE WALKER ( released conviit), cribed in issue of 12th September, not arrested. ( 329 H. C.) Louth. Description of MAURICE WOLFE, native of Russia, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd October, 1890, at Drogheda, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of fet Peter's, unlawfully stolen, taken, and carried away tbe following articles of wearing apparel, the property of one David Brudno viz.:— One double- breastsd brown coat, valne XI 2* 6d.; a single vest, same material; a boy's dark gray overcoat, valne 78. 6d.; a blue pilot overcoat, value 18s.; a dark gray sack coat, value 8s.; a hard round hat, maker's name 44 Robinson, Drogheda"; and several other articles of wearing apparel:— Black eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 21 years of age, black curly hair; wore a black felt hat, dark coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, strong laced boots with nails, may be wearing some of the stolen articles; is a pedlar. Has friends residing in Jewish Synagogue, Lennox- street, Dublin. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of D. I. at Drogheda. Drogheda, 5th October, 1890. ( 5146 c.— 81781.) Mayo. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycastle, who is of weak intellect, and missing from his home, at Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore:— Brawn eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 35 years of THE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AND- CRY, OCTOBER 24, 1890. age, short back, black hair, thin beard; wore a one- peak brown tweed cap, velvet coat, corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, and clogs; is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Polioe. Ballaghadeneen, 1st Oct., 1890. ( 5159 c.— 81799.) Roscommon. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tha 23rd September, 1890, in the barony of Roscommon, parish of Bumlin, stolen two rugs, the property of Dominick Owens, of Strokestown, from his dwelling house at Strokestown:— Fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 45 years of age, brown hair ; wore a brown hat and li^ ht gray coat; is supposed to be a tramp baker. No better description can be given. Warrant for whose arrest is in the hands of H. J. Walsh, Esq., D. I., B. I. C., Strokestown. Strokestown, 9th Oct., 1890. ( 5271c.—- 81998). Tlpperary. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather oocked nose, pale complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray suit of clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 c.— 80115.) Particulars relative toConvictP^ TRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C- there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) JOHN LYNCH ( sheep stealing), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. ( 4456 c.— 80589). Tyrone. Description of THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native ot Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS. native of Armagh, who stand charged with having, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th August, 1890, in the barony of Lower Strabaae, parish of Urney, broken into the Roman Catholic Chapel, Melmount, and stolen there- from 1 silver chalice and 1 silver cross ( See Hue- and- Cry, dated 22nd August, 1890) ;— 1. Large scar of burn on right shoulder and armpit, marks of King's evil under left ear and under chin ; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair 5 wore a gray clp, gray coat, gray trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. 2. Scar on left temple; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, long dark coat, dark trowsers and vest; s a tailor. 3. Large dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, { bin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. These men are arrested and remanded. They may have committed other offences elsawhere, Strabane, 26th August, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hneand- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Wleklow. Description of LAWRENCE MOONEY, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1890, in the barony of Arklow, parish of Kilpoola, made his escape from Wicklow Gaol, where he had been confined on remand charged with larceny of money:— Blue eyes, long no3e, fresh com- plexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet 3£ inches high, about 16 years of aye, fair hair ; wore a brown hard bat, old gray tweed coat, daik tweed trowsers and vest, black tie, and'laced boots; is a licenced car- driver in Dublin. Has friends in Dublin, Kingstown, and RatLdrum. Information sworn and warrant in hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 16th Oct., 1890. ( 5437 c.— 82267.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G Division. Particulars relative to Convict HUGH MUL- DOON, alias WILLIAM JOHN JACKSON, A 756, convicted at Trinity Sessions, B elf- tat, county Antrim, on the 10th July, 1883, for larceny and a previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 8 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' police supervision:— 35 years of age on conviction, single, dealer; born at Omagh, resided before conviction at Belfast; dark brown hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 51 inches high, lost right eye. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on Licence, on 16th August, 1890, and went to Belfast. He left his lodgings in that city on 22nd July, ultimo, without notifying eame to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In tbe event of his arrest he should bo dealth with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5. 15th September, 1890. ( 345 H. C.) Convict MARY MACVICKER, described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. General Prisons Board. 21st August, 1890. ( 339 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Lancashire. Absconded on the 10th inst., and now charged by Warrant with embezzlement, JAMES BURNS MEUDELL, a joiner by trade, and lately superin- tendent of one of the Corporation Batbs in this city. He is about 40 years of age,- 5 feet 9 inches hiah, stout build, round full face, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, full whiskers and moustache; dressed when last seen in a dark ribbed cloth morning coat and vest, daik trowsers, hard black billycock hat, and low shoes. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made at all likely places, and if found, arrest and wire to GEOHGE WILLIAMS, Chief Superintendent. Liverpool, 21st October, 1890. ( 353 H. C.) Norfolkshire. Wanted at King's Lvnn, a man of the following description, for stealing, on the 9th instant, from the platform of the railway station, a brown leather hand- bag ( recovered) froA which he abstracted a cheque, dated 7th or 8th September, 1890, for £ 20, on Coutts and Co's., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour of R. 0. Ridley, which was not endorsed, also about 20 blank cheques of Gurney and Co's Bank, all numbered ° 19318 :— He gave the name of GRANT, which may be fictitious, aged about 28 years, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light brown hair, small ginger moustache, Fpare build; dressed in black coat, gray or mixed trowsers, black felt hat; gentlemanly appearance, ami stated he was a commercial. Will probably utter Coutts and Co's. cheque, No. p/ 16 6034, and may issue forged cheques in the name of R. O. Ridley, on Guriey's Bank, to hotel or lodging house keepers. L SMITH, alias AGNES CALLAGHfcN or CLARE, a Convict on licence, Convict office No. 38887, .53 years of age, 5 feat 5 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth, scars on left forearm, stays at comraon lodging- houses. She committed the theft at a common lodging- house in this borough. She is also wanted by the Metropolitan Police for tailing to notify her change of residence. Prison, Kendal, on Wednesday, September 24th, 1890, about six p. m., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, farm labourer, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown curly hair, Blight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate build, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Maris— cut mark on top part of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. Dress— Red striped cotton shirt, light moleskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of dress uncertain. Has been convicted as follows:— Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July, J 880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, two months. Longtown Petty Sessions, 2nd June, 1887; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, ' 1888; fulony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury. 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of stge, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat. Wanted here on a charge of stealing £ 43, the property of his employers:— JAMES MILLER, a clerk, 33 years of age, 5 feet or 10 inches high, long neck, dark brown hair, brown side whiskers and moustache, otherwise clean shaved, large forehead, prominent nose, large projecting eyes, long thin face, thick lips and keeps them apart, mark of old cut on under lip, walks erect witfa quick short step, addicted to drink; dressed in a black hard felt hat, black corded ccat and vest, dark gray striped trowsers, lacing boots; speaks with a Scotch accent; is a native of Alloa. May endeavour to go abroad or seek employment at colliery offices, etc. Warrant issued. Information to THOS. NICOL, Supt. of Police, Burgh Chambers, Alloa. Absconded on the 12th October, current. C.) Glasgow. m EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 223 17a. 9d. ARGYLE LITSTER, described in issue of 9th September, not arrested. Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 1st August, 1390. ( 234 H. C.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HTJE- AND- CRY, OCTOBER 28, 1890. m Renfrewshire. EMBEZZLEMENT of £ 47 18s. lid. Wanted here, on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with embezzlement of £ 47 18*. 11c?., the property ol a firm of bakers in this burgh, in whose employment he was as a traveller JAMES BROWN M'KENDRICK, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, slender make, dark hair, parted in centre and inclined to curl, slight dark moustache, and small side whiskers, otherwise clean shaved, dark eyes, sallow complexion; speaks thick and excited, and with a Glasgow accent; cressed, when last seen, in a blue broad- twilled jacket suit, black felt hat, and wore Lorne shoes. Accused absconded on the 14th August last. Police officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for the above described person, and should he be traced or arrested communicate with the Subscriber. WM. Burgh Police Office, Govan, 13th August, 1890. ( 336 H. C.] Stirlingshire. Wanted on a charge of theft of £ 2 9s., on 13th October, 1890:— EDITH STEWART, a mill- worker, 18 years of age, 5 feet in height, Etout build, dark complexion, dark hair cut short in front, dark grey skirt, blue jacket bodice with yellow stripe, black shoulder shawl, white apron, elastic sided boots, barehead, wrought in Stirling five weeks previous to Monday, the 18th inst., when she paid for a railway ticket to Edinburgh, has wrought ib Dundee and other towns; said to have been born in America, bnt came to this country when yoong, lived in a private lodging- house here. Please cause search to made for tbe above, and if found, apprehend and communicate with the Super- intendent of Police. Warrant granted. Burgh Police Chambers, Stirling, 15th October, 1890. Description of a heifer, the ' property of Michael Grace, which was stolen from the lands of Coolalong, parish of Callan, barony of Callan, on the 17th day of September, 1890:— Bright red colour, with a little whi'e on left side near the quarter, short thick horns inclined to turn back towards the body, one year old, in fair condition, and value for £ 9. Callan, 4th October, 1890. ( 5145c— 81780.) Longford. Description of five cslves, ' he property of Patrick Ryan, which were stolen from the lands of Crossea South, parish of Ardagh, barony of Ardagh, on the 2nd day of October, 1890 :— 1. Heifer calf, red colour with some white spots. 2. Heifer calf, red colour with some white spots. 3. Heifer calf, red and white colour well mixed. 4. Bullock calf, roan colour. 5. Bullock calf, red and white colour well mixed. All about 5 months old, and value for about £ 6 each. Ballymahon, 6th October, 1890. ( 5204 c 81875.) PROPERTY STOLEN. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY. Dublin. Description of plate, the property of John Curtis, which was stolen from his residence, Oakley, near Clontarf, parish of Clontarf, barony of Coolock, on the 9th day ot September, 1890 — Two large sugar bowls, one large and one small cream ewer, one large soup ladle, one fish slice with fish engraved thereon. All these articles are solid silver, and are engraved with a crest, a dolphin; all value for £ 40. Clontarf, 10th Sept., 1890. ( 4621 80892.) Kildare. Description of articles, the property of Captain James B. Description of a silver cross, the property of the Committee of the Roman Catholic Chapel of Melmount, which was stolen from the Chapel of Melmount, near Strabane. parish of Urney, barony of Lower Strabane, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th August, 1890:— Silver cross, about 7 inches long and 3 inches wide, used in connection with a remonstrance; valae for abont £ 2.
