All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. • Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of jwrsons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be acoompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been, issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castl « % of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, « fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim, Description of a MAN, name unknown, native of Poland, Russia, who stands charged with having, on the night of 12th or morning of 13th October, 1^ 90, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Temple- patrick, stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Hugh Barron, of Craigarogan, the following articles, viz.:— A silver Geneva watoh, No. 85, 607 or 85,608; steel chain with pendant attached, red on one side, blue on other, a crack on red side; a black serge coat and vest, trimmed with braid, nearly new; a pair of strung laced boots, newly mended, with patches on soles at toes; a corduroy purse containing ll< i.:— Turn in his eyes, turns out his toes when walking, no hair on face except small light moustache, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round lace, very stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; supposed to fce wearing the stolen clothes, as he left his own old ones behind him ; is a labourer. Description of WILLIAM M'CALLION, alias WILSON ( mother's surname M'Cullough), native of Craigmore, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, of the 22nd September, 1* 90, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Drummaul, stolen from the dwellinghouse of William Stewart, a suit of clothes and a shawl ( which have since t een found pawred ia Ballvmena):— Has a stoppage in his speech and is short'sighted, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cloth cap, gray tweed coat, and « ' ark tweed trowsers, all old. A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Antrim, 30th September, 1* 90. ( 5061 81617.) « — —• Cavan. w Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK NOON, C 61, convicted at Cavan, on the 1st June, 1886, for larceny, an. i sentenced to 5 yoais' penal servitude, 64 years of age oh conviction, single, dealer, born at drumshambo, county Leitrim, resided before convic- tion at Bailieboro', county Cavan:— Black bair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, small flat nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 3 inches high, getting bald. This man was released on Licence from Maryboro' Pris" n, on 22nd May, 1890, and went to Dublin. He left Waterford or 23rd September, 1* 90, stating l e WHS (- oing to Kilkenny, but he bus not reported h< m; elf at the latter place, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event ot his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic , cap. 112. ( 350 H. C.) Cork. Description of JOHN LOONEY, native of Bandon, who stands charged with having, on the 7th April, 1890, in the barony of Kinalmeaky, parish of Bally- moden, deserted his fonr children, so that they became destitute, and are since the 23rd April, 1890, relieved in the Workhouse of the Bandon Union :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 yenrs of age, black hair ; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest s is a labourer. Warrant in hands of Police at Bandon. Bandon, 15th Sept., 1890. ( 4775 a— 81104.) Down. Description of WILLIAM M'GREGORY, native of Scotland, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd day of September, 1890, in the barony of Iveagh Lower, lower half, parish of Seapatrick, entered the dwellinghouse of William Dale, of Drumnagally, and stolen therefrom the sum ot £' 2, consisting or two notes, numbers unknown :— Scar on right side of neck, speaks with a Scotch accent, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, thin lace, medium make, 5 leet 6 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed cap, dark coat, checked troweers, dark vest, and military boots ; is a discharged soldier, a shoemaker, and also works as a farm labour. Warrant ia hands ot the Police at Ban bridge. Banbridge, 24th Sept., 1890. ( 4966 c— 81457 ) Kerry. Description of Co'our - Sergeant THOMAS C. CONNELL, native of Gosport, Hants, who stands charged with having, on the 4th October, 1890, in the barony of Trugbanackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen £ 25, the property of Major Henry Murray, Royal Munster Fusiliers:— Thick lips and a misshapen nose, hazel eyes, fiat nose, fresh complexion, full face, medium make, 5 leet 6 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark tag coat, bright trowsers, dark vest; is a clerk. Tralee, 5th October, 1890. ( 5182 c._ 81841.) Klldare. PATRICK HARRIS, JOHN HARRIS, and JOHN POWER ( riot, & c.), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. ( 4266 c— 80449.) JOHN EGLESTON ( desertion), described in issue of 15tli August, not arrested. Curragh Camp, 12th June, 1890. ( 324 H. C.) CHARLES DOHERTY ( attacking dwelling), described in issue of 8th August, 1890, not arrested. Kildare, 28th June, 1890. ( 3077 o.— 78255.) King's. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about 9£ p. m., in the barony of Bally- cowan, parish of Durrow, entered the house of Peter Geogbegan, of Ballinamona, and robbed him of the sum of £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown :— 1. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of sge; wore a black hat and short dark coat. 2. Fair complexion, shaved face, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a black hat and dark tweed suit. Information sworn, and Warrants are in the hands of the Dictrict Inspector at Tullamore. Tullamore, 20th Sept., 1890. ( 4869 c— 81279.) Londonderry. GEORGE WALKER ( released convict), des- cribed in issue of 12th September, not arrested. ( 323 H. C.) Lonth. Description of MAURICE WOLFE, native of Russia, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd October, 1890, at Drogheda, in the barony of Drogheda, parish of St Peter's, unlawfully stolen, taken, and carried away the following articles of wearing apparel, the property of one David Brudno, viz.:— One double- breasted brown coat, value £ 1 2s. 6d.; a single vest, same material; a boy's dark gray overcoat, value 7s. 6d.; a blue pilot overcoat, value 18s.; a dark gray sack coat, value Ss.; a hard round hat, mater's name " Bobinson, Drogheda"; and several other articles of wearing apparel:— Black eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 21 joars of age, black early bair; wore a black felt hat, dark coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest, strong laced boots with nails, may be wearing some of the stolen articles; is a pedlar. Has friends residing in Jewish Sjnagogue, Lennox- street, Dublin. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of D. I. at Drogheda. Drogheda, 5th October, 1890. ( 5146 c.— 81781.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OE HUE- AND- CRY, OCTOBER 24, 1890. 4 Mayo. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycaetle, who is of weak intellect, and missing from his home, at Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore:— Brown eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 35 years of age, short back, black hair, thin beard; wore a one- peak brown tweed cap, velvet coat, corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, and clogs s is a labourer. A Warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Police. Ballaghaderreen, 1st Oct., 1890. ( 5159 c.— 81799.) Roscommon. Description of A MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd September, 1890, in the barony of Roscommon, parish of Bumlin, stolen two rugs, the property of Dominick Owens, of Strokestown, from his dwelling- hoase at Strokestown:— Fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feot 5 or 6 inches high, about 45 years of age, brown hair; wore a brown hat and light gray coat; is supposed to ba a tramp baker. No better description can bo given. Warrant for whose arrest is in the hands of H. J. Walsh, Esq., D. I., R. I. C., Strokestown. Strokestown, 9th Oct., 1890. ( 5271c.—& 1938). Tipperary. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pale complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray suit of clothes; is a labourer. Dundrum, 16th August, 1890. ( 4170 c.— 80115.) Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair oi blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:—- 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5^ inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon mel, He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) JOHN LYNCH ( sheep stealing), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. ( 1456 80589). Tyrone. Description of THOMAS HAMILTON, . alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMES NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS, native of Armagh, who stand charged with having, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th August, 1890, in the barony of Lower Strabane, parish of Urney, broken into the Roman Catholic Chapel, Melmount, and stolen there- from 1 silver chalice and 1 silver cross ( See Hue- and- Cry, dated 22nd August, 1890) :— 1. Larpe scar of burn on right shoulder and armpit, marks of King's evil under left ear and nnder chin; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wor « a gray c* p, gray coat, gray trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. 2. Scar on left temple; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make. 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, long dark coat, dark trowsers an! vest ; is a tailor. 3. Large dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a bla k cap, black coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. These men are arrested and remanded. They may have committed other offences elsewhere, Strabane, 26th August, 1890. ( 4213 c.— 80384.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hneand- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Wicklow. Description of LAWRENCE MOONEY, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 14th October, 1890, in the barony of Arklow, parish of Kilpoola, made his escape from Wicklow Gaol, where he had been confined on remand charged with larceny of money:— Blue eyes, long nose, fresh com- plexion, small thin face, slight make, 5 feet inehes high, about 16 years of age, fair hair ; wore a brown hkird hat, old gray tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest, black- tie, and laced boots; is a licenced car- driver in Dublin. has friends in Dublin, Kingstown, and Rathdrum. Information sworn and warrant in hands of District Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 16th Oct., 1890. ( 5437 c — 82267.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. G division. Particulars relative to Convict HUGH MUL- DOON, alias WILLIAM JOHN JACKSON, A 756, convicted at Trinity Sessions, Belfist, county Antrim, on the 10th July, 1883, for larceny and a previous conviction for felony, and sentenced to 8 years' penal servitude, and 5 years' police supervision:— 35 years of age on conviction, single, dealer; born at Omagh, resided before conviction at Belfast; dark brown hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high, lost right eye. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on Licence, on 16th August, 1890, and went to Belfast. He left his lodgings in that city on 22nd July, ultimo, without notifying rame to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealth with under 34 and 35 Via, cap. 112, sec. 5. 15th September, 1890. ( 345 H. c.) Convict MARY MACVICKER, described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. Particulars of LAWRENCE HANLON, native of Omeath, near Warrenpoint, Ireland, whose appre- hension is sought for embezzling £ 2 and other amounts, tbe monies of James Harvey, his master:— 23 or 24 years ot age, looks much older, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, with long brown moustache, medium make, dissipated appearance, fond of drink and women, speaks with a broad Irish accent; has been an oyster merchant's salesman in this city, and may seek employment as such, or may be found hawking oysters with a basket; dresses fairly respectable. Warrant dated October 2nd, 18S0. Information to J. GAMDALE, Cuief Constable, Bir- mingham. 8th October, 1890. ( 349 H.. C) Norfolkshire. Wanted at King's Lynn, a man of the following description, for stealing, on the 9th instant, from the platform of the railway station, a brown leather hand- bag ( recovered) from which he abstracted a chequtf, dated 7th or 8th September, 1890, for £ 50, on Coutts and Co'a., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour of R. 0. Ridley, which WISH not endorsed, also about 20 blank cheques of Gnrcey and Co's Bank, * 11 numbered ° l » 3l8 :— He gave the name of GRANT, which may be fictitious, aged about 2H years, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light brown hair, small ginger mcuttache, spare build; drflssed in black coat, gray or mixed trowsers, black felt hatj gentlemanly appearance, and stated hq was a commercial. Will pr bably utter Coutts and Co's. cheque, No. p/ 16 6034, and may issue forced cheques in tne name of R. O. Ridley, on Gurney's Bank, to hotel or lodging house keepers. Wanted for stealing money and bed- clothes:— MINA JURY, alias ADA LEMPERIE, ( jmmf M. L SMITH, alias AGNES CALLAGHAN CLARE, a Convict on licence, Convict office No. 38887, 53 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth, scars on left fOrearm, stays at common lodging- houses, fche committed the theft at a common lodging- house in this borough. Westmoreland. Escaped from H. M. Prison, Kendal, on Wednesday, September 24th, 18S0, about six p. m., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, fiarm labourer, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown curly hair, slight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate boild, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Marks— cut mark on top part of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. Dress— Red striped cotton shirt, light moleskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of dress uncertain. Has been convicted as follows:— Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July. 1880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, two months. Longtown Hetty Sessions, 2nd Juno, 1887; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, 1888; felony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury, 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Kendal Quarter Sessions, 4th July, 1890; felony, 18 months and three years' police supervision. Information to LUKE TALBOT, Chief Constable. Borough Police Office, Kendal, 2nd October, 1890. Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat. Warrant issued. Information to FRED. T. WEBB, Chief Constable, Leeds. Borough of Leeds, 20th September, 1890. ( 346 H. C.) SCOTCH POLICE, Clackmannanshire. Wanted here on a charge of stealing £ 43, the property of his employers:— JAMES MILLER, a clerk, 33 years of age, 5 feet or 10 inches high, long neck, dark brown hair, brown side whiskers and moustache, otherwise clean shaved, large forehead, prominent nose, large projecting eyes, long thin face, thick lips and keeps them apart, mark of old cut on under lip, walks erect with quick short step, addicted to drink; dressed in a black hard felt hat, black corded coat and* vest, dark gray striped trowsers, lacing boots; speaks with a Scotch accent; is a native of Alloa. May endeavour to go abroad or seek employment at colliery offices, etc. warrant issued. Information to THOS. NICOI,, Supt. of Police, Burgh Chambers, Alloa. Absconded on the 12th October, current. ( 338 H. c ) Glasgow. IS EMBEZZLEMENT OF £ 223 17a. 9d. ARGYLE LITSTER, described in issue of StJ^ September, not arrested. Central Police Chambers, Glasgow, 1st August, 1890. ( 334 H. C.) Wanted here, on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with embezzlement of £ 47 18*. lid, the property of a firm of bakers in this burgh, in whose employment he was as a traveller s— JAMES BROWN M'KENDRICK, about 23 yews of age, 5 feet 9 inches in height, slender make, dark hair, parted in centre and inclined to curl, slight dark moustache, and small side whiskers, otherwise clean shaved, dark eyes, sallow complexion; speaks thick and excited, and with a Glasgow accent; dressed, when last seen, in a blue broad- twilled jacket suit, black felt hat, and wore Lorne shoes. Accused absconded on the 14th August last. Police officers are requested to make particular search and enquiry for the above described person, and should he be traced or arrested communicate with the Subscriber. WM. September, 1890:— Bright red colour, with a little white on left side near the quarter, short thick horns inclined to turn back towards the body, one year old, in fair condition, and value for £ 9. Callan, 4th October, 1890. ( 5145o— 81780.) Stirlingshire. Wanted on a charge of theft of £ 2 9s., on 13th October, 1890:— EDITH STEWART, a mill- worker, 18 years of age, 5 feet in height, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair cut short in front, dark grey skirt, blue jacket bodice with yellow stripe, black shoulder shawl, white apron, elastic sided boots, barehead, wrought in Stirling five weeks previous to Monday, the 18th inst., when she paid for a railway ticket to Edinburgh, has wrought in Dundee and other towns; said to have been born in America, but came to this oountry when young, lived in a private lodging- house here. Please cause search to made for tke above, and if found, apprehend and communicate with the Super- intendent of Police. Warrant granted. Burgh Police Chambers, Stirling, 15th October, 1890. Description of five calves, the property of Patrick Ryan, wiich were stolen from the lands of Crossea South, parish of Ardagb, barony of Ardagh, on the 2nd day of October, 1890 :— 1. Heifer calf, red colour with some white spots. 2. Heifer calf, red- colour with some white spots. 3. Heifer calf, red and white colour well mixed. 4. Bullock calf, roan colour. 5. Description of plate, the property of John Curtis, winch was stolen from his residence, Oakley, near Clontarf, parish of Clontarf, barony of Coolock, on the 9th day of September, 1890:— Two large sugar bowls one large and one small cream ewer, one large soup' ladle, one fish slice with fish engraved thereon.
