Published for Ireland on every Tuesday and Friday. nilOTJLATIOHra. tgr All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be^ serted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been iasufd, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. Should irregularities arise in> the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be neoessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Cast)*, of the Abolition of Gaols, Stations, < fcc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. aB. Description of WILLIAM M'CALLION, alias WILSON ( mother's surname M'Cullough), native of Craigmore, county Antrim, who stands charged with having, on tie 22nd September, 1890, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Drummaul, stolen from the dwellinghouse of William Stewart, a suit of clothts and a shawl ( which have since t een found pawned in Ballymena):— Has a stoppage in his speech and is short- sighted, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches ligh, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cloth cap, gray tweed coat, and dark tweed trowsers, all old. Description of JOHN LOONEY, native of Bandon, who stands charged with having, on the 7th April, 1890, in the barcny ot Kinalmeaky, parish of Bally- moden, deserted his four children, so that they became destitute, and are since the 23rd April, 1890, relieved in the Workhouse of the Bandon Union :— Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair; wore a dark tweed coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN, names ur known, who stand charged with having, on the night of 19th Sep- tember, 1890, about 9J p. m., in the barony of Bally- cowan, paiiih of Durrow, entered the house of Peter Geoghegan, pf Ballinamona, and robbed him of the ,- um of £ 25, consisting of one ten pound and three five pound notes, numbers unknown:— 1. Shaved face, sandy moustache, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches bi? h, about 24 years of uge; wore a black hat and short dark coat. 2. Fair complexion, ahaved face, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 24 yeari of age; wore a black hat and dark tweed suit. Description of TIMOTHY FREEMAN, native of Derrycastle, who is of weak intellect, t> nd missing from his home, a Derrycastle, in the barony of Costelloe, parish of Aughamore :— Brown eyes, long thin drooped nose, sallow complexion, thin face, worn appearance, medium make, 5 feet 2 in ' tes high, about 35 years of age, sho t back, black hair, thin beard; wore a cne- peak brown tweed cap, velvet coat, corduroy trowsers, black tweed vest, and clogs; is a labourer. Description of JAMES DAYIS, native of Carlow Graicue, who stands charged with having, on the 30th September, 1890, in the barony of Slievomargue, parish of Killshin, assaulted his wife and with being a dangerous lunatic:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a low black hat and brown tweed suit; is a coachsmith. Description of PATRICK HOGAN, native of Ballykeveen, who stands charged with having, on the 15th August, 1890, at Toem, in the barony of Kil- namanagh Upper, parish of Toem, unlawfully stabbed one Edmond Noonan in the breast with a knife, thereby placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, rather cocked nose, pa'e complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, fair hair; wore a gTay suit of clothes; is a labourer. Particulars relative toConvict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5-^ inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his nrrost he should be dealt * » ith under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) JOHN LYNCH ( sheep stealing), described in issue of 3rd October, not arrested. Description of THOMAS HAMILTON, alias DONNELLY, native of Armagh, ALEXANDER HAWTHORNE, alias SAMUEL JAMEs NEAL, native of Cookstown, WILLIAM M'KNIGHT, alias CURRY, alias M'WILLIAMS native of Armagh, who stand charged with having, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th Aupist, 1890, in the barony of Lower Strabaue, parish of Urney, broken into the Roman Catholic Chapel. Melmount, a id stolen there- from 1 silver chalice and 1 silver cross ( Sse Hue- and- Cry, dated 22nd August, 1890) 1. Large scar of burn on right shoulder and armpit, marks of King's evil under left ear and under chin ; gray eyes, regular nose, fresh compl. xion, roun i face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray cap, gray coat, gray trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. 2. Scar on left temple; dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make 5 feet 5 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair ; wore a blnck cap, long dark coat, dark trowsers ana vest; is a tailor. 3. Large dark eyes, regular nose dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Wicklow- Description of PETER M'KEON native place unknown, whe stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1890. in the barony of Newcastle, parish of Newcastle Upper, being found dressed in female's clothes, and refusing to give any account of himself, except that he was some time ago at Creagh, near Ballinasloe, as monitor of a school there, and went about as a poor scholar:— Old sore- marks on small of back and on right side of buttock, also on left temple, blue eyes, slightly cocked nose, sandy com- plexion, long face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 20 years of age, sandy hair cut short— military fashion. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. g Division. 4 Particulars relative ti Convict HUGH MUL- DOON, alias WILLIAM JOHN JACKSON, A 756, convicted at Trinity Sessions, Belfjst, county Antrim, on the 10th July, 1883, for larcany and a previous conviction for felony, anl sentenced to 8 years' p « nal servitude, and 5 years' police supervision:— 35 years of age on conviction, single, dealer; born at Omagh, resided before conviction at Belfast; dark brown hair turning gray, hazel eyes, dark eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5j inches high, lost right eve. Thij man was released from Mountjoy Prison on Licence, on 16th August, 1890, and weat to Ballast. He left his lodgings in that city on 22nd July, ultimo, without notifying fame to the police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt i with under 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112, sec. 5. 15th September, 1890. ( 345 H. O.) Norfolkshire Wanted at King's Lynn, a man of the following description, for stealing, on tho 9th instant, from the platform of the railway station, a brown leather band- bag ( recovered) from which he abstracted a cheque, dated 7th or 8th September, 1890, for £ 20, on Coutts and Co's., Bank, London, drawn by Francis Ridley in favour of R. O. Ridley, which was not endorsed, also about 20 blank cheques of Gurney and Co's. Bank, all numbered " 19318 :— He gave the name of GRANT, which may be fictitious, aged about 28 years, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, fresh complexion, brown or light brown hair, small ginger moustache, spare build; dressed ia black coat, gr » y or mixed trowsers, black felt hat; gentlemanly appearance, and sta'. ed he was a commercial. Will prjbably utter Coutts and Co's. cheque, No. P/ I6 6034. and may issue forged cheques in the name of R. 0. Ridley, on Gurtey's Bank, to hotel or lodging house keepers. Please warn all bankers, hotel proprietors, and others, and if arrested wire to GEORGE WAKE, Chief Constable. Police Office, King's Lynn, 13th September, 1890. ( 344 H. C.> Staffordshire. Wanted for stealing money and bed- clothes :— MINA JURY, alias ADA LEMPERIE, alias M. L. SMITH, alias AGNES CALLAGHAN or CLARE, a Convict on licence, Convict office No. 38887, 53 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, gray hair, hazel eyes, lost several teeth, scars on left forearm, stayB at common lodging- houses. She committed the theft at a common lodging- house in this borough. She is also wanted by the Metropolitan Police for failing to notify- her change of residence. Prison, Kendal, on Wsdnesday, September 24th, 1890, about six p. m., SAMUEL JOHNSTON, alias GEORGE GRAHAM, farm labourer, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown curly hair, slight light moustache and whiskers, gray eyes, fresh complexion, proportionate build, native of Annan, Scotland, rather vacant expression, speaks with a Scotch accent. Marks— cut nark on top part of right side of forehead, cut mark just above left eye- brow, vaccination marks on left arm, varicose veins on right leg, sore mark on right knee. 1 THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, SEPTEMBER 7, 1890. Dress— Red striped cotton shirt, light moleskin trowsers marked with broad arrow, which is almost washed out, dark gray socks with red band, shoes; remainder of dress uncertain. Has been convicted as follows:— Annan Borough Police Court, 15th July, 1880; ten days and two years in Reformatory. Whitehaven Petty Sessions, 4th March, 1887; felony, two months. Longtown Petty Sessions, Snd June, 1887; felony, six months. Lancaster Quarter Sessions, 2nd January, 1888} felony, six months. Dumfries Sheriff Jury, 12th October, 1888; burglary, six months. Kendal Quarter Sessions, 4th July, 1890; felony, 18 months and three years' police supervision. Information to LUKE TALBOT, Chief Constable. Borough Police Office, Kendal, 2nd October, 1890. ( 348 H. Particulars of HOUGHTON PARKINSON, whose apprehension is sought for embezzlement, native of Dewsbury, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, dark beard and moustache, walks lame and carries a stick in his right hand; by trade a painter, but has been employed as a painter's clerk; mixture suit, and black billy- cock hat. RANKINE ( stealing), Hae- and- Cry of 1st July, 1890, not arrested. ( 321 H. C.) Edinburgh. Wanted in this city on a Magistrate's Warrant, charged with embezzling several thousand pounds:— PETER COUPER, of the firm of Cooper and Cook, accountants, George- street, Edinburgh, 43 years of age ( looks older), 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, medium build proportionate, square shouldered, fresh com- plexion, plessant looking, bright eyes, iron gray hair turning white, side whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, generally dressed well in dark suit and black felt hat, smart gentlemanly appearance, walks quickly, speaks Scotch accent. Will likely endeavour to leave the country. Police officers are requested to make special search and inquiry at all outward- bound vessels, railway stations, hotels, boarding- houses, and other likely places, with the view of tracing and securing the arrest of this man. Accused absconded on the 14th August last.
