No - Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn j but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. MS- - vwr Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the " Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * » * Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rootified. ' Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castl*, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY, Antrim, Description of JAMES STERLING ( mother's surname Campell), native of Belfast, who stands charged with having, on the 10th of ' July 1890, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, forged a cheque for £ 6 8 « ., and receiving amount of same :— Wore all his beard, which is dark, tinged with gray, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 40 yoars ol age, dark hair tinged with gray ; woro a low hard hat, dark coat, gray trowsers, and dark vest; is a dealer in empty casks and barrels. Description of PATRICK CUMISKY, native of crossmaglen, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of July, 1890, in tho barony of Upper Fews, parish o( Creggan, attempted to rape a servant girl named elizabeth Linden, at Carnally:-— Scar on one of his temples, high clqok bones, shaves all his face except moustache which is dark, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, stoat make, 5 leet 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a tramp, fiddle , a d scutcher. Information sworn, and War rant in tl e hands o( District Inspector at Newry. Newry, 12th 1890. ( 3? 60 p.— 7378QJ Cork. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1890, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Midleton, fraudulently received the sum of £ 6 11*. from Michael O'Dwyer, of Glenbarahane, county Limer- ick, by representing himself to be the agent of the owner of some piffa which O'Dwyer had bought from Philip Hegarty, Ballinvoher, Cloyne Sallow complexion, thin short face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 45 years of ago, dark hair, black moustache cut straight across with long ends, black whiskers ; wore a slightly faded hard law hat, mouse- coloured coat, trowsors. and vest. Warrant for arrest in hands of District Inspector, Midleton. Midleton, 18th July, 1890. ( 3512 c.— 79017). Description of DANIEL CARTY ( mother's sur- name Leary), native of Clounties, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th June, 1890, in the barony of W. D. E. Carbery, parish of Fanlobbus, unlawfully assaulted, beaten, and inflicted grievous bodily harm on Michael Walsh, of Clounties, in county of Cork:— Small dark moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a solt flat cap, black coat, and frieze trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of the District- Inspsctor, R. I. C., Dunmanway. Dunmunway, 1st July, 1890. ( 3171 C.— 78415.) Description of JOHN SHEEHAN ( mother's sur- name Sheehan), and JOHN BUCKLEY ( mother's surname M'Namara), natives of Killeen, who stand charged with having, on the 22nd day of May, 1890, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Matchy, been concerned, with others now in custody, in stealing seven sheep and five lambs, tho property of Hanorah Murphy, of Killeen:— 1. Gray eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 yoars of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, brown tweed coat, brown trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, trowsers, and vest; was in America, and speaks with American accent; is a labourer. Description of JOHN LANE, native of Carrig, county Cork, who stands charged with, haviog, on the 23rd May, 1890, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardnageehy, committed a rape on one Hannah O'Brien, a girl of 15 years of age:— Down- looking, shaves all his face, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, stout make, 5 fuet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, has » fresh cut on the back of the head caused by a blow of a stone; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, and jobs in sheep and cattle. Will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant issued. Fermoy, 1890. ( 2471 c^— 77209.). JAMES M'CARTHY ( stealing sheep), described in issue of 24th June, not arrested. ( 2016 c.— 76368.) Donegal, Description of JOHN M'CANN, native of Cork who stands cHarged witn Having, on the 7th day o June, 1890, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Inver, fired at and wounded one Bridget Gallagher, at Meen- tueahan, in said county:— One front tooth out in upper left jaw, brown eyes, cocked nose, swarthy com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 88 years of ago, dark brown hair turning gray; wore a gray tweed two- peak cap, old light- coloured tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and old worn shoes, no stockings; is a tramp, no occupation. This man is in custody, and may have committed other offences. Ballyshannon, 11th June, 1890. ( 2656 c.— 77550.) D. TUMNEY (' assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May; not arrested. ( 99681 c— 73233). Dublin. Particulars relative to Convict JAMES BYRNE, c. 9, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 1st October, 1885, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' p9nal servitude:— 27 years of age on con- viction, single; is a shoemaker; born at Kingstown, resided in Dublin before conviction:— Black hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, long tbin nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet 1J inches higb, brown flesh mark on left elbow, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 25th September, 1889, and went to reside in Dublin. He left the North Dablin Union without reporting himself to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. Hs was seen selling racing cards at tho Curragh on 24th ult. In tho event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ' ( 331 H. C.) Galway. Description of JOHN HEAPHY, native of Fermoy, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1890, in the barony of Kiltartan, parish of Kilmacduagb, absconded, em- bezzling the sum of 14s- Id. from his emplover, Mr. Michael M'Carthy, ol Gon:— Right eye bloodshot, full brown beard, small eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a round brown hat, much worn, faded brown Coat,, blue trowsers; is a profes- sional tramp. Description of ELLEN HURLEY, native or Clahane, who stands charged with having, on tie 7th July, 1890, in the barony of Trughenack my, parish of Tralee, stolen a fennle donkey ( described under head- ing " Animals Stolen.') tlie property ot Thomas Hiring, Esq , Coroner of Tralee :— Middle aged and speaks with a strong Kerry accent, gray eyes, cocked nose. pale complexion,- full face, stout meke, 5 feet 4 niches high, about 45 years of age, dirk hair; sells sugar stick end sweets at fairs and markets. Description of CHARLES DOHERTY, native of Kingsbog, who stands charged with naving, on tbe nipht of 2ffh june 1890, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare attacked the dwelling- house of John Hanbridge, of Brallistown, with intent to do the owner bodily harm:— Gray eyes, regular no^ e, callow com- plexion, sunken face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches i iph, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft b ack 1 at, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Description of Sapper JOHN EGLESTON. 22,802, ' 17th Battalion, Field Company, Royal Engineers, wlo absented himself without leave from the Curragh Camp, on 7th June, 18S0:— Vaccination mark on left arm, scar on right side of head, blue eyes, light brown hair, fresh complexion, 5 feet inches high, 22 years of age; dressed in regimentals; is a carpenter; born in the parish of St. Peter's, Dublin, and enlisted at Birr. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on Sunday, the 6th July, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— THOMAS SHERLOCK. No. 1,073, 19 or 20 years of agp, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, pale compleni n, dark trown hair, weak brown eyej, long nose, small mouth, oval visage, two middle toes of right foot stuck together ; dressed in a sett felt hat, blue serpe jaclet, corduroy trowsers and vest, Blucher boots. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 130 H. C ) Description of the undernamed young ( Sender, who, on the 30th June, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, at King's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, strong make but not stout, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes; formerly belonged to Kilrush, county Clare, where his father resides; little finger off left hand. The school dress consists of moleskin trowsers, black moleskin vtst, corduroy jacktt, leather leggings ( at time of leaving), Glengarry cap, Blucher boots. The boy is believed to be now tramping in country purts barelojted. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 328 H. C. ( 94064 c— 75417.) , BRIDGET SHEEHY ( arson), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May; not arrested. ( 594 c.— 73615.) Londonderry. Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE WALKER, c f 2, convicted at Londonderry Quarter Sessions, on the 4th June, l*>- 6, for burglary, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 52 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer i born at Londonderry, where he resided be'ore conviction; his friends reside at Rosemount, Londonderry:-- Brown hair, blue eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, em ill mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stoat make, 5 feet 5 inches high, bald on top of head, cut mark on right temple. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 31st May, 1890, and went to Londonderry. He failed to make bis usual monthly report on 30th nit., to the R. I. C- at Rosemount, Londonderry, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his ar.- est he should be dealt with under se;. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 32) H. C.) SAMUEL CANNING ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. JANE M'MULLAN, described in issue of 28th March, 1890, not arrested. ( 550 o— 73518.) Louth. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd instant, in the barony of Upper Dundalk, parish of Haggardstown, stolen tbe following articles from the Roman Catholic Chapel of Hoggardstown :—. A silver chalice, ciborium, silver spoon, and collecting plate :— 1. Stooped shoulders, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a blaek frock coat, light trowsers, and vest. 2. Full face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; wore a short black coat, white moleskin trowsers, light vest. Dundalk, 26th May, 1890. ( 825 o 4080.) monaghan, Description of EDWARD M'CAFFrEY ( mother's surname Boyle), native of Tatty- gormican, county Fermanagh. who stands charged with having, on the 13th July, 1890, in the barony of Dartrey, parish of Clones, indecently assaulted Miss Madden, of Aghafin House:— Dark eyes, large nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair ; wore a black hat, b aek frock coat, pray tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a labourer. Description of DANIEL RYAN, native of Bawn- more, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 1st April, 1890, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Rathdowney, embezzled the sum of £ 22, which he received for two head of cattle sold by him for Edward Bowe, of Rathosheen, county Kilkenny:— Slight stoppage in speech, slight cast in eyes, one of which is slightly injured and watery ( supposed lefi), smart appearance, and walks erect ; slightly cocked nose, florid complexion, slightly blotched face, medium make5 feet 6 inches high, about 64 year s of age; wore a dark tweed coat, corduroy t o wsers, dark tweed vest whea he absconded, but bonght new clothes in Kilkenny next day; is a labourer. This man worked in Hull, Yorkshire, and was in America. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Abbeyleix. Abbeyleix, 10th April, 1890. ( 1602 75600.) Roscommon. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 18th day of July, 1890, in the barony cf Ca* tlerea, parish of Baslick, stolen the sum of £ 6 13s. 3d. from the dwelling- house of Patrick Walder, cf Lisolway. He obtained admission to the house by stating he was a p'an of campaign agent, and that the police were in pursuit of him; it bas since been learned that this man imposed on another farmer in the same manner a few wc< ks ago:— Smart active appearance, brown eyes, regular nos>, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 26 years of age, dark brown hair; wore a brown felt hat, black cloth coat, trowsers and vest of same material; had watch and chain, rather respectable looking. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, native of Drumfad, who stands charged with having, on tbe 26th May, 1890, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Rosinver, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Mrs. Anne Dwyer, which have since been recovered:— Sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, slightly bald ; wore a soft hat, black necktie, and gray frieze coat; is a small farmer. Warrant in the hands of the police. Sligo, 4th June, 1890. ( 2526 77304). Description of MICHAEL WALSH ( mother's surname Casey), native of Cashelduff, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 15th May, 1890, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, and townland of Curry, unlawfully assaulted James Feely, thereby placing his life in danger:— Smart active appeararce, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a white tweed cap with peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Tubbercurry, 21st May, 1890. ( 22i8c 76769.) Tipperary, Description of MARTIN MAHER, native of Capparoe, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 21st July, 1890, in the b irony of Ownev aad Arra, parish of Burgesbeg, stolen 4 head of 11 year- old cattle, which have been since recovered:— Small tender eyes, small cocked nose, sallow complexion, small face, active make, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout 25 years of age, no beard; wore a tweed cap, dark brown tweed coat, trowserg, and vest, laced boots; is a labourer. Likely to emigrate. Warrant in the hands of the Police. Nenagh, 25th July, 1690. ( 3657 0 79253.) Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, consisted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before convicticn and where his friends reside :— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visige, proportional make, 5 feet inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. Ha failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst, he is suspected of having commuted larceny and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under s ction 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 311 HC.) Description of EDMOND FARRELL, native of Killenaule, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1890, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Kelick Murry, had in his possession, knowing them to have been stolen, two asses, value £ 2 10 « ( since recovered), and the property of John Hogan :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, very fresh complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, face all shaven except small sandy moustache; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. This man generally wears a silver ccloored watch chain, but has no watch attached. He belongs to the Army Reserve, and has a soldier- like appearance. Warrant in hands of the police. Dundrum, llth April, 1890. ( D. 75599.) Tyrone. Description of ANDREW GALLAGHER, native of Churchtown, who stands charged with having, on the 10th June, 1890, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts Urney, stolen a horse, tbe property of his brother, William Gallagher, of Churchtown :— Large lump bottom of abdomen as if ruptured, shaved except small fair side whhkers, flat feet, gray eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed short coat, gray trowsers and vest. Warrant in hands of the Constabulary. Strabane, llth June, 1890. ( 2711 c— 7763S.) THE POLICE GAZETTE, OR HUE- AND- CRY, JULY 2 9 , 1890. PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.—. 73739.) Waterford. Description of MICHAEL POWER, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 16 h May, 1890, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Dysert, feloniously broken into the dwelling- house of Ellen Mara, at Kildraughtane, and iadecently assaulted her therein :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval ( ace, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair turning gray, and sandy whiskers and moustache turning gray, chin shaved; wore a hard felt hat much worn, old gray tweed coat much too large, old tweed trowsers lighter color than coat, no vest; is a labourer. Information sworn and Warrant issued and in the hands of the Police at Carrickbeg. Portlaw, 18th May, 1890. ( 2243c,— 76761.) Westmeath. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, in company with Thomas Bracken ( arrested), on the 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Corkaree, parish of Rathconnell, assaulted one Patrick Commer, and robbed him of the sum ol £ 1 15s., consisting of ooe pound note with " Parsons" written on back of it, also a bit out of one corner, a half sovereign, and fire shillings in silver:— 1. Sallow complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 iaches high, about AO years of age, no beard or whiskers; wore a black soft hat, tweed coat and trowsers; is a cattle drover. 2. Native cf Longford, thin note, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 ( est 5 or 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair, wore all his beard, which is black, with moustache much heavier than beard, dirty- looking face; wore a black torn coat and brown tweed trowsers. Mullingar, 26th June, 189C. ( 3055 c 78223.) MICHAEL LOUGHLIN ( indecent assault), de- scribed in Hue- and- Cry of 18th March, not arrested. ( 87 c— 72727.) Wexford.
