All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, | Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary ( to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of PATRICK CUMISKY, native of Croesmaglen, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of July, 1890, in the barony of Upper Fews, parish of Creggan, attempted to rape a servant girl named Elizabeth Linden, at Carnally:— Scar on one of his temples, high cheek bones, shaves all his face except moustache which is dark, gray eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 test 8 inches high, about 32 years of age, dark hair; wore a cap, dark tweed coat, trowf ers, and vest; is a tramp, fiddler, and scutcher. Information sworn, and War- rant in the hands of District Inspector at Newry. Newry, 12th July, 1890. ( 3360 73780.) Cork. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 14th July, 1890, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Midleton, fraudulently received the sum of £ 6 lis. from Miohael O'Dwyer, of Glenbarahane, county Limer- ick, by representing himself to be the agent of the owner of some pigs which O'Dwyer had bought from Philip Hegarty, Ballinvoher, Cloyne :— Sallow complexion, thin rort face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about . years of age, dark hair, black moustache cut straight across with long ends, black whiskers ; wore a slightly faded hard low- hat, mouse- coloured coat, trov^ jts aad vest Warrant for arrest in hands of D t Inspector, Midleton. eton, 18th July, 1890. ( 3512 c.~ 79017). Description of DANIEL CARTY ( mother's sur- name Leary), native of Clounties, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th Jane, 1890, in the barony ot W. D. E. Carbery, parish of Fanlobbus, unlawfully assaulted, beaten, and inflicted grievous bodily harm on Michael Walsh, of Clounties, in county of Cork t— Small dark monstache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark swarthy complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft flat cap, black coat, and frieze trowsers; is a labourer. Warrant in hands of the District- Inspector, &. LC., Danmanway. Dunmanway, 1st July, 1890. ( 3171 a— 78415.) Description of JOHN SHEEHAN ( mother's sur- name Sheehan), and JOHN BUCKLEY ( mother's surname M'Namara), natives of Killeen, who stand charged with having, on the 22nd day of May, 1890, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Matehy, been concerned, with others now in custody, in stealing seven sheep and five lambs, the property of Hanorah Murphy, of Killeen t—. 1. Gray eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, brown tweed coat, brown trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, trowsers, and vest; was in America, and speaks with American accent; is a labourer. Description of JOHN LANK, native of Carrig, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1890, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardnageehy, committed a rape on one Hannah O'Brien, a girl of 15 years of age:— Down- looking, shaves all his face, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches higb, about 24 years of age, dark hair, has a fresh cut on the back of the head caused by a blow of a stone; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, and jobs in sheep and cattle. Will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant issued. Fermoy, 1890. ( 2471 c.— 77209.) JAMES M'CARTHY ( stealing sheep), described in issue of 24th June, not arrested. ( 2016 c.— 76368.) Donegal, Description of JOHN M'CANN, native of Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of June, 1890, in the barony dof Banagh, parish of Invor, fired at and wounded one Bridget Gallagher, at Meen- tucahan, in said county :— One frdnt tooth out in uppsr left jaw, brown eyes, cocked nose, swarthy com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 38 years of ago, dark brown hair turning gray; wore a gray tweed two- peak cap, old light- coloured tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and old worn shoes, no stockings; is a tramp, no occupation. ( 99681 c.— 73238). Dublin. Particulars relative to Convict JAMES BYRNE, c. 9, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 1st October, 1885, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 27 years of age on con « viotion, single; is a shoemaker; born at Kingstown, resided in Dublin before conviction:— Black hair, bine eyes, dark eyebrows, long thin nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 6 feet 1J inches higb, brown flesh mark on left elbow, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 25th September, 1889, and went to reside in Dnblin. He left the North Dublin Union without reporting himself to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. He was seen selling racing cards at the Curragh on 24th nit. In the event of bis arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) Galway. Description of JOHN HEAPHY, native of Fermoy, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1890, in the barony of Kiltartan, parish of Kilmacduagh, absconded, em- bezzling the sum of 14j. Id. from his employer, Mr. Michael M'Carthy, of Gort s— Right eye bloodshot, full brown beard, small eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a round brown bat, much wcrn, faded brown coat, blue trowsers j is a profes- sional tramp. Warrant in the hands of the District Inspector at Gort for his arrest. Gort, 28th June, 1890. ( 3076 c— 78254.) Kerry. Description of ELLEN HURLEY, native of Clahane, who stands charged with having, on the 7th July, 1890, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen a female donkey ( described under head- ing " Animals Stolen,") the property of Thomas Spring, Esq, Coroner of Tralee Middle aged and speaks with a. strong Kerry accent, gray eyes, cockcd nose, pale completion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; sells sngarstick and sweets at lairs and markets. RODGER SPELLANE ( serious assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of i3th May, not arrested. ( 1808 75957.) MATHEW LEARY ( juvenile absconder), d< cribed in Hue- ahd- Cry ol'iath May, not arrested. ( 1292 74969.) Kildare. Description of CHARLES DOHERTY, native of Kingsbog, who stands charged with having, on the night of 26th Juno, 1890, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare, attacked the dwelling- house of John Hanbridge, of Brallistown, with intent to do the owner bodily harm:— Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, sunken face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark • est; is a labourer. Description of Sapper JOHN EGLESTON, 22,802, 17th Battalion, Field Company, Royal Engineers, who absented himself without leave from the Curragh Camp, on 7th June, 1890:— Vaccination mark on left arm, scar on right side of head, blue eyes, light brown hair, frcsh complexion, 5 feet 6k inches high, 22 years of age; dressed in regimentals; is a carpenter; born in tbe parish of St. Peter's, Dublin, and enlisted at Birr. JAMES MAHER ( cattle stealing), Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, not arrested. ( 1997 c 76334.) PATRICK BURKE ( arson), described in Hue- and Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 579 c.— 73574.) King's. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on Sunday, the 6th July, 1890, absconded from ttir Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County a— THOMAS SHERLOCK, No. 1,073, 19 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, dark brown hair, weak brown eyes, long nose, small mouth, oval visage, two middle toes of right foot stuck together; dressed in a soft felt hat, blue sergo jacket, corduroy trousers and vest, Blucher boots. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, aud will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ($ 30 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 30th June, 1890, tbscondad from the Philipstown Reformatory School, at Ki • g's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310, 17 years of age, 5 leet 2 inches high, strong make but not stout, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eye's; formorly belonged to Kilrush, county Clare, whore his father resides; little finger off left hand. The school dress consists of moleskin ' trowsars, black moleskin vtst, corduroy jacket, leather leggings ( at time of leaving) Glengarry cap, Blucher boots. The boy is believed to bo novr tramping in country ports barefooted. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 328 H. C. BRIDGET SHEEHY ( arson), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May; not arrested. ( 594 c.— 73615.) Londonderry. Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE WALKER, C € 2, convicted at Londonderry Quarter Sessions, on the 4th June, 1886, for burglary, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 52 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Rosemount, Londonderry:— Brown hair, blue eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fresh omplexion, oval visage, • tout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, bald on top of head, cut mark on right temple. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 2 1st May, 1890, and went to Londonderry. He failed to make his usual monthly report on 30th ult., to the R. I. C. at Rosemount, Londonderry, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Via., cap. 112. ( 32) H. C.) SAMUEL CANNING ( stealing), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. JANE M'MULLAN, described in is me of 28th March, 1890, not arrested. ( 550 a— 73518.) Louth. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 2lBt or morning of 22nd instant, in the barony of Upper Dundalk, parish of Haggardstown, stolen the following articles from the Roman Catholic Chapel of Haggardstown:— A silver chalice, ciborium, silver spoon, and collecting plate :— 1. Stooped shoulden, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a blank' frock coat, light trowsers, and vest. 2. Full face, medium make, 0 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; wore a short black coat, white moleskin trowsers, light vest. Dundalk, 26th May, 1890. ( 2382— c. 77018.) MICHAEL GROGAN ( malicious injury), des- cribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 1165 c.— 74731.) x Mayo. Description of a MAN, who gave the name of M'DONNELL, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on th « 29th day of May, 1890, in the baronies of Can* and Clanmorris, parishes of Carra and Balla, obtained sums of money by false pretences from the Rev. Edward Gibbons, P. P., of Balla, and Rev. Pi Lyons, t. r., of Castlebar Intelligent, good address, no baard or whiskers, dark moustache; dark complexion, thin fact, slight make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard black hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn, bright silver or metal Albert chain ; is a tramp gardener. This man seems an adept at obtaining small sums of money, and will probably continue his plans. District Inspector at Castlebar holds a Warrant for his arrest. Castlebar, 6th June, 1890. ANDREW DOOHAN ( assault), described in issue of 24th June, not arrested. Ballaghaderreen, 8th March, 1890. ( 825 c— 4080.) Queen's. Description of DANIEL RYAN, native of Rawn- more, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 1st April, 1890, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Rathdowney, embezzled the sum of £ 22, which he received for two head of cattle sold by him for Edward Bowe, of Rathosheen, county Kilkenny:—- Slight btoppage in speech, slight cast in eyes, one of which is slightly injured and watery ( supposed left), smart appearance, and walks erect; slightly cocked nose, florid complexion, slightly blotched face, medium makeS feet 6 inches high, about 64 years of age; wore a dark tweed coat, corduroy t'owsers, dark tweed vest when he absconded, but bought new clothes in Kilkenny next day; is a labourer. This man worked in Hull, Yorkshire, and was in America. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Abbeyleix. Abbeyleix, 10th April, 1890. ( 1602 75600.) Sllgo. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, native of Drumfad, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1890, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Rosinver, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Mrs. Anne Dwyer, whioh have since been recovered ;— Sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, slightly bald; wore a soft hat, black necktie, and gray frieze coat; is a small farmer. Warrant in the hands of the police. Sligo, 4th June, 1890. ( 2526 c— 77304). Description of MICHAEL WALSH ( mother's surname Casey), native of Cashelduff, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 15th May, 1890, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, and townland of Curry, unlawfully assaulted James Feely, thereby placing his life in danger:— Smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- plexion, regular fkoe, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a white tweed cap with peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Tubbercurry, 21st May, 1890. ( 2218c 76769.) Tipperary. Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5£ inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny., and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. C.) Description of EDMOND FARRELL, native of Killenaule, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1890, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Kelick Murry, had in his possession, knowing them to have been stolen, two asses, value £ 2 10s. ( since recovered), and the property of John Hogan:— GKray or blue eyes, regular nose, very fresh complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, face all shaven except small sandy meustache; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsars, tweed vest. This man generally wears a silver coloured watch chain, but has no watch attached. He belongs to the Army Reserve, and has a soldier- like appearance. Warrant in hands of the police. Dundrum, 11th April, 1890. ( D. 75599.) Tyrone. Description of ANDREW GALLAGHER, native of Churchtown, who stands charged with having, on the 10th June, 1890, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts of Urney, stolen a horse, the property of his brother, William Gallagher, of Churchtown:— Large lump bottom of abdomen as if ruptured, shaved except small fair side whiskers, flat f6et, gray eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed short coat, gray trowsars and vest. Warrant in hands of the Constabulary. Strabane, 11th June, 1890. ( 2711 c.— 77632.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), de? cribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Waterford. Description of MICHAEL POWER, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 16th May, 1890, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Dysert, feloniously broken into the dwelling- house of Ellen Mara, at Kildraughtane, and indecently assaulted her therein :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair turning gray, and saady whiskers and moustache turning gray, chin shaved; wore a hard felt hat much worn, old gray tweed coa$ mush too large, old tweed trowsers lighter color than coat, no vest; is a labourer. Information sworn and Warrant issued and in the hands of the Police at Carrickbeg. Portlaw, 18th May, 1890. ( 2243c 76764.) Westmeath. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, in company with Thomas Bracken ( arrested), on the 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Corkaree, parish of Rathconnell, assaulted one Patrick Commer, and robbed him of the sum of £ 1 15*., consisting of one pound note with " Parsons" written on back of it, also a bit out of one corner, a half sovereign, and five shillings in silver :•— 1. Sallow complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, no beard or whiskers; wore a black soft hat, tweed coat and trowsers; is s cattle drover. 2. Native of Longford, thiu nose, dark complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feat 5 or 6 inches high, about 40 years of age, black hair, wore all his beard, which is black, with moustache much heavier than beard, dirty- looking face; wore a black torn coat and brown tweed trowsers. Description of PATRICK LARDY, native of New Ross, who stands charged with having, on the 10th May, 1890, in the barony of Bantry, parish of St. Mary's, embezzled £ 8 10*., the property of the New Ross Brass Band Committee:— Gray eyes, regular rosj, sandy complexion, loog thin face, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, sandy hair ; wore a hard brown hat, long striped coat, trowsers, and vest; all clothes same material; is an attorney's clerk; generally carries a stick. New Ross, 1890. ( 72109 c.— 76532.) THOMAS MORAN ( embezzling), Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, 1890, not arrested. ( 1951 c.— 76244.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. (} Division. Wanted for stealing two post office orders, and obtaining cash on one by means of forgery at the General Post Office, on the 29th November, 1889, GEORGE LONSDALE:— Forty- seven years of age, fi feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair and beard, sandy complexion, stiff about the knees, medium make; dressed in a snuff- coloured check coat, knitted vest, blue trowsers, and felt hat. Served in the army, and speaks with a north of Ireland accent Warrant for bis arrest in the hands of Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Exchange Court. ( 295 H. C.) Convict JOHN SULLIVAN ( failing to report himself), described in issue of 28th March, not arrested. ( 298 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Cumberland. Glasgow, Wanted here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with theft of 106 dozan ladies' Jerseys, value £ 237, the property of a Berlin manufacturer, for whom he acted as agent, JOHN FERGUS, a commission agent, late of 85,' Queen- street, Glasgow:— 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout made, florid complexion, face • lightly blotched, slight brownish beard, whiskers, and moustache, dark brown hair, prominent nose which is very red, apparently through drink, nneasy twitching appearance when speaking, always well dressed and at present is believed to be wearing a new tweed suit and brown felt hat, wears a white shirt with turned- down collar attached, has a diamond ring on one of fingers of left hand.
