No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary ( to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches higb, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, trowsers, and vest; was in America, and speaks with American accent; is a labourer. Description of JOHN LANE, native of Carrig, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd May, 1890, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardnageehy, committed a rape on one Hannah O'Brien, a girl of 15 years of age:— Down- looking, shaves all his face, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 year's of age, dark hair, has a fresh cut on the back of the head caused by a blow of a stone; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, and jobs in sheep and cattle. Description of JOHN M'CANN, native of Cork, who stands charged wi. u having,, on the 7th day of June, 1890, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Inver, fired at and wounded one Bridget Gallagher, at Meen- tucahan, in said county :— One front tooth. out in upper left jaw, brown eyes, cocked nose, swarthy com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 38 years of age, dark brown hair turning gray t wore a gray tweed two- peak cap, old light coloured tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and old worn shoes, no stockings; is a tramp, no occupation. Particulars relative to Convict JAMES BYRNE, c. 9, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 1st October, 1885, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 27 years of age on con- viction, single; is a shoemaker; born at Kingstown, resided in Dublin before conviction:— Black hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, long thin nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet If inches higb, brown flesh mark on left elbow, cut scar over right eyebrow. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 25th September, 1889, and went to reside in Dublin. He left the North Dublin Union without reporting himself to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. He was seen selling raoing cards at the Curragh en 24th ult. In the event of bis arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 a. c.) Galway. Description of JOHN HEAPHY, native of Fermoy, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1890, in the barony of Kiltartan, parish of Kilmacduagh, absconded, em- bezzling the sum of 145. Id. from his employer, Mr. Michael M'Carthy, of Gort:— Right eye bloodshot, full brown beard, small eyes, regular noso, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a round brown hat, much worn, faded brown coat, blue trowsers; is a profes- sional tramp. Description of ELLEN HURLEY, native of Clahane, who stands charged with having, on the 7th July, 1890, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Iralee, stolen a female donkey ( described under head- ing " Animals Stolen,') tho property of Thomas Spring, Esq., Coroner of Tralee:— Middle aged and speaks with a strong Kerry accent, gray eyes, cocked nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; sells sugarstick and sweets at fairs and markets. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on Sunday, the 6th July, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School at King's County:— THOMAS SHERLOCK, No. 1,073, 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, dark brown hair} weak brown eyes, long nose, small mouth, oval visage, two middle toes of right foot stuck together; dressed in a soft felt hat, blue serge jacket, corduroy trowsers and vest, Blueher boots. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin. . The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justicc, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 330 H. C.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 30th June, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory School, at King's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310,17 yearsofage, 5 feet 2 inches high, strong make but not stout, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray ryes; formerly belonged to Kilrush, county Clare, where his father resides; little finger off left hand. The school dress consists of moleskin trowsers, black moleskin vest, corduroy jacket, leather leggings ( at time of leaving) Glengarry cap, Blucher boots. The boy is te'ieved to be now tramping in country parts barefooted. Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE WALKER, c 62, convicted at Londonderry Quarter Sessions, on the 4th June, 1886, for burglary, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 52 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Rosemount, Londonderry:— Brown hair, blue eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, email mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, bald on top of head, cut mark on right temple. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 31st May, 1890, and went to Londonderry. He failed to make his usual monthly report on, 80th ult., to the R. I. C. at Rosemount, Londonderry, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 329 H. C.) Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd instant, in the barony of Upper- Dundalk, parish of Haggardstown, stolen the following articles from the Roman Catholic Chapel of Haggardstown:— A silver chalice, ciborium, silver spoon, and collecting plate :— 1. Stooped shoulders, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a black frock coat, light trowsers, and vest. 2. Full face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; Wore a short black coat, white moleskin trowsers, light vest. Dundalk, 26th May, 1890. Description of a MAN, who gave the name of M'DONNELL, native place unknown, who stands charged with bavins, on the 29th day of May, 1890, in the baronies of Carra and Clanmorris, parishes of Carra and Balla, obtained sums of money by false pretences from the Rev. Edward Gibbons, r. r., of Balla, and Rev. P. Lyons, r. p., of Castlebar:— Intelligent, good address, no beard or whiskers, dark moustache; dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair j wore a hard black hat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn, bright silver or metal Albert chain ; is a tramp gardener. This man seems an adept at obtaining small sums of money, and will probably ccntinue his plans. District Inspector at Castlebar holds a Warrant for his arrest. Castlebar, 6th June, 1890. Description of DANIEL RYAN, native of Bawn- more, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 1st April, 1890, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Rathdowney, embezzled the sum of £ 22, which he received for two head of cattle sold by him for Edward Bowe, of Rathosheen, county Kilkenny:— Slight stoppage in speech, slight cast in eyes, one of which is slightly injured and watery ( supposed left), smart appearance, and walks erect; slightly cocked nose, florid complexion, Blightly blotched face, medium make5 feet 6 inches high, about 64 years of age; wore a dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest when he absconded, but bought new clothes in Kilkenny next day; is a labourer. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, native of Drumfad, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1890, in the barony of Carbury, parish of Rosinver, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Mrs. Anne Dwyer, which have since been recovered:— Sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, slightly bald ; wore a soft hat, black necktie, and gray frieze coat; is a small farmer. Description of MICHAEL WALSH ( mother's surname Casey), native of Cashelduff, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 15th May, 1890, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, and townland of Curry, unlawfully assaulted James Feely, thereby placing his life in danger:— Smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- ilexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet 8 inches ligh, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a white tweed cap with peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Particulars relative to Convict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convicted at Clonmel Assizes, county Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside:— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5£ inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Cion- mel. He failed to report himself to the R. LC. there on the 2nd inst., he is suspected of having committed larceny, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. c.) Description of EDMOND FARRELL, native of Killenaule, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1890, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Kelick Murry, had in his possession, knowing them to have been stolen, two asses, value £ 2 10a. ( since recovered), and the property of John Hogan :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, very fresh complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, face all shaven except small sandy moustache; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. This man generally wears a silver coloured watch chain, but has no watch attached. He belongs to the Army Reserve, and has a soldier- like appearance. Warrant in hands of the police. Description of ANDREW GALLAGHER, native of Churchtown, who stands charged with having, on the 10th June, 1890, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts of Urney, stolen a horse, the property of his brother, William Gallagher, of Churchtown :— Large lump bottom of abdomen as if ruptured, shaved except small fair side whiskers, flat feet, gray eyes, thick nose, fair complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed short coat gray trowsers and vest. Description of MICHAEL POWER, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 16ih May, 1890, in the barony of Upperthird, parish of Dysert, feloniously broken into the dwelling- house of Ellen Mara, at Kildraughtane, and indecently assaulted her therein :— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age, fair hair turning gray, and sandy whiskers and moustache turning gray, chin shaved; wore a hard felt hat much worn, old gray tweed coat much too large, old tweed trowsers lighter color than coat, no vest; is a labourer. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, in company with Thomas Bracken ( arrested), on the 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Corkaree, parish of Rathconnell, assaulted one Patrick Commer, and robbed him of the sum of £ 1 15*., consisting of one pound note with " Parsons" written on back of it, also a bit out of one corner, a half sovereign, and five shillings in silver:— 1. Sallow complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, no beard or whiskers; wore a black soft hat, tweed coat and trowsers ; is a cattle drover. 2. Native of Longford, thin nose, dark complexion^ thin face, medium make, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches hig about 40 years of age, black hair, wore all his I which is black, with moustache much heavier tha beard, dirty- looking face; wore a black torn coat an$, brown tweed trowsers. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. g Division, Wanted for stealing two post office orders, and obtaining cash on one by means of forgery at the General Poet Office, on the 29th November, 1889, GEORGE LONSDALE:— Forty- seven years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair and beard, sandy complexion, stiff about the knees, medium make; dressed in a snuff- coloured check coat, knitted vest, bine trowsers, and felt hat. Absconded on the 6th June, 1890, charged with embezzling the sum of £ 500, the property of the Cumberland Union Bank ( Penrith Branch)'— STANLEY MARTIN, bank cashier, Penrith, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, black hair, moustache and beard, sallow complexion, prominent eyes, small scar on one cheek, placid expression of face, and proportionate flgura. It is supposed that he will endeavour to leave the country for Spain or America. It is earnestly requested that immediate enquiries be made to trace and arrest him. Wanted here on a Sheriff's Warrant, charged with theft of 106 dozen ladies' Jerseys, value £ 237, the property of a Berlin manufacturer, for whom he acted as agent, JOHN FERGUS, a commission agent late of 85, Queen- street, Glasgow s— 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout made, florid complexion, face slightly blotched, slight brownish beard, whiskers, and moustache, dark brown hair, prominent nose which is very red, apparently through drink, uneasy twitching appearance when speaking, always well dressed and at present is believed to be wearing a new tweed suit and brown felt hat wears a white shirt with turned- down collar attached, has a diamond ring on one of fingers of left hand.
