TIONB. __ All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Cry are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, jDublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn ; but it is not necessary jto forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, • nd by tho name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. •„• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, etc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. D. E. Carbery, pariah of Fan- bus, unlawfully assaulted, beaten, and inflicted evous bodily harm cn Michael Walsh, of Clounties, county of Cork:— 1. Small dark moustache, dark eyes, regular ncs-, dark s^ wthy couijloiion, round face, st ut make, 6 feet 6 it ches high, about 23 years of age, dark hair ; wore a solt flat cap, black coat, and frieze trowsers is a labourer ( gl Mil dH, ^ c. 2. Shoulders slightly drooped, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long faca, medium mike, 5 feet 9 inchcs high, abcut 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a two- peaked cap, brown coat, and frieze trowsers; is a labourer. Description of JOHN SHEEHAN ( mother's sur- name Sheehan), and JOHN BUCKLEY ( mother's surname M'Namara), natives of Killeen, w! o stand charged with having, on the 22nd day of May, 1890, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Matehy, been corcerned, with others now in custody, in stealing seven sheep and five Iambs, the property of Hanorah Murphy, of Killeen:— 1. Gray eyes, short nose, fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap, brown tweed coat, brown trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. 2. Dark eyes, regular ncse, dark complexion, thin face, smart make, 5 feet 9 inches higb, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a black cap, black coat, trowsers, and vest; was in America, and speaks with Amer can accent; is a labourer. Description of JOHN LANE, native of Carrig, county Cork, who stands charged with havir g, on the 23rd May, 1890, in the barony of Barrymore, parish of Ardnageehy, committed a rape on one Hannah O'Brien, a girl of 15 years of age:—- Down- looking, shades all his face, gray eyes, long thin nose, fair com- plexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, has a fresh cut on the back of the head canted by a blow of a stone; wore a hard black hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son, and jobs in sheep and cattle. Will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant it sued. Fermoy, 1890. ( 2471 c.— 77209.) JAMES M'CARTHY ( stealing sheep), described in istue of 24th June, not arrested. ( 2016 c.—- 76368.) Donegal. Description of CHARLES DOHERTY, senior, and CHARLES DOHERTY, junior, natives of Ballyshannon, who stand charged with having, on the * 0th June, 1890, in the barony of Tyrhugh, parish of Kilbarron, seriously assaulted Patrick Coyle:— 1. Knock- kneed, hszel eyes, regular nose, sivarthy complexi n, long face, very stout make, 6 feet high, itbout 55 years of age, fair hair; wore a datk tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and moleskin vest; is a tin- smith. 2. Hazel eyes, regular ncse, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 20 or 21 years of age, fair hair; wore a c" ark tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and moleskin vest; is a tin- smith. ( 3172 c.— 784237)" Description of JOHN M'CANN, native of Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of June, 1890, in the barony of Banagh, parish of Inver, fired at and wounded one Bridget Gallagher, at Meen- tucahan, in said county:— One front tooth out in upper left jaw, brown eyes, cocked ncse, swarthy com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, abcut 38 yews of age, dark brown hair turning gray; wore a gray tweed two peak cap, old light- coloured tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and old worn shoes, no stockings; is a tramp, no occupation. This man is in custody, and may have committed other offence*. Ballyshannon, 11th June, 1& 90. ( 2656 c.— 77550.) D. TUMNEY ( assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May ; not arrested. Dublin, Particulars relative to Convict JAMES BYRNE, c. 9, convicted at Dublin City Sesions, on 1st October, 1885, for larceny from person, and sentenced to 5 years' psnal servitude:— 27 years of age on con- viction, single; is a shoemaker; born at Kingstown, resided in Dublin before convictionBlack hair, blue eyes, dark eyebrows, long thin no? e, sm. ll mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 fewt I £ inches higb, brown flesh mark on left elbow, cut soar over right eyebrow. ' This man was relewed from Mountjoy Pr'son on 25th September, 1889, and went to reside in ') nblin. He left the North Dut- lin Union without reporting himself to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. He was seen sailing raoing cards at the Curragh on 24th ult. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 331 H. O.) Galway. Dercription of JOHN HEAPHY, native of Fermoy, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 26th June, 1890, in the barony of Kiltartan, parish of Kilmacduagb, absconded, em- bezzling the sum of 14 « Id. from his employer, Mr. Michael M'Carthy, of Sort:— Right eye bloodshot, full brown beard, small eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a round brown hat, much wcrn, faded brown coat, blue trowsers; is a profes- sional tramp. Description of ELLEN HURLEY, native o Clahane, who stands charged with having, on the 7th Jflly, 1890, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen a female donkey ( described under head- ing " Animals Stolen,') the property of Thomas Spring, Esq, Coroner of Tralee :— Middle aged and speaks with a strong Kerry accent, gray eyes, cooked nose, pale complexion, full face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; soils S'jgarstick and sweets at fairs and markets. Warrant for her arrest is in tho handi of the police at Trale8. Tralee, 10th July, 1890. ( 8337 c.— 78744). RODGER SPILLANE ( serious assault), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrasted. ( 1808 75957.) MATHEW LEARY ( jivenile absconder), des- cribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 1292 74969.) Kildare. Description of CHARLES DOHERTY, native of Kingsbog, who stands charged with naving, on the night of 26th June, 1890, in the barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare attacked the dwelling- bouse of John Hanbridge, of Brallistown, with intent to do the owner bodily harm:— Gray eyes, regular nose, sallow com- plexion, sunken face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft black hat, dark coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Kildare, 28th June, 1890. ( 3077 c.— 78255.) Description of Sapper JOHN EGLESTON, 22,802, 17th Battalion, Field Company, Royal Engineers, who absented himself without leave from the Curragh Camp, on 7th June, 1890:— Vaccination mark on left arm, scar on right side of head, blue eyes, light brown hair, fresh complexion, 5 feet 6} inches high, 22 years of age; dressed in regimentals; is a carpenter j born in the parish of St. Peter's, Dublin, and enlisted at Birr. JAMES MAHER ( cattle stealing;), Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, not arretted. ( 1997 c 76334.) PATRICK BURKE ( arson), described in Hue- and Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 579 73574.) King's. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on Sunday, the 6th July, 1890, absconded from the Philipstown Reformatory S: hool at King's County:— THOMAS SHERLOCK. No. 1,073, 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, dark brown hair, weak brown eyes, long nose, small mouth, oval visage, two middle toes of right foot stuck together; dressed in a soft felt hat, bine serge jacket, cordoroy trowsers and vest, Blucher boots. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- straet, Dublin. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Juttidc, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 130 ii. o.) Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 30th June, 1890, absconded trom the Philipstown Reformatory School, at King's County:— MARTIN CROWLEY, No. 1,310, 17 yearsofage, 5 feet 2 inches bigh, strong mako but not stout, fresh complexion, brown hair, gray eyes; formerly belonged to Kilrush, county Clare, where his father resides; little finger off left hand. The school dross, consists of moleskin trowsars, black mole- kin vest,. corduroy jacket, leather leggings ( at time of'leaving) Glengarry cap, Blucher boots. The boy is believed to be now tramping in country parts barefooted. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on reoaand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. ( 328 H. C.) BRIDGET SHEEHY ( arson),: described in Hue- and- Cry of 6th May; not arrested^ ( 594 c.— 73615.) Londonderry. Particulars relative to Convict GEORGE WALKER, c 62, convicted at Londonderry Quarter Sessions, on the 4th June, 1886, for burglary, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude :— 52 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Londonderry, where he resided before conviction; his friends reside at Rosemount, Londonderry:-- Brown hair, blus eyes, sandy eyebrows, large nose, small mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, bald on top of head, cut mark on right temple. This man was released from Maryboro' Prison on 31st May, 1890, and went to Londonderry. He failed to make his usual monthly report on 30th nit., to the R. I. C. at Rosemount, Londonderry, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt With under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 329 H. C.) SAMUEL CANNING ( stealing), described in Hne- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. JANE M'MULLAN, described in issue of 28th March, 1890, not arrested. ( 550 c.— 73518.) Louth. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 21st or morning of 22nd instant, in the barony of Upper Dundalk, parish of Haggardstown, stolen the following articles from the Roman Catholic Chapel of Haggardstown:— A silver chalice, ciborium, silver spoon, and collecting plate:—- 1. Stooped shoulders, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age, dark hair turning gray; wore a black frock coat, light trowsers, and vest. 2. Full face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, fair hair, sandy moustache; wore a short black coat, white moleskin trowsers, light vest. Dundalk, 26th May, 1890. ( 2382— c. 77018.) MICHAEL GROGAN ( malicious injury), des- cribed in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 1165 c.— 74731.) Mayo. Description of a MAN, who gave the name of M'DONNELL, native place unknown, who stands charged with having on the 29th day of May, 1890, in the baronies of Carra and Clanmorris, parishes of Carra and Balla, obtained sums of money by false pretences from the Rev. Edward Gibbons, P. P., of Balla, and Rev. P. Lyons, P. P., of Castlebar:— Intelligent, good address, no bsard or whiskers, dark moustache; dark complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair ; wore a hard black bat, dark coat, trowsers, and vest, much worn, bright silver or metal Albert chain ; is a tramp gardener. This man seems an adept at obtaining small sums of money, and will probably continue his plans. District Inspector at Castlebar holds a Warrant for his arrest. Castlebar, 6th June, 1890. ANDREW DOOHAN ( assault), described in issue of 24th June, not arrested. Ballaghaderreen, 8th March, 1890. ( 825 c— 4080.) Queen's. Description of DANIEL RYAN, native of Bawn- more, county Kilkenny, who stands charged with having, on the 1st April, 1890, in the barony of Clondonagh, parish of Rathdowney, embezzled the sum of £ 22, which he received for two head of cattle sold by him for Edward Bowe, of Rathosheen, county Kilkenny:— Slight stoppage in speech, slight east in eyes, one of which is slightly injured and watery ( supposed left), smart appearance, and walks erect; slightly cocked nose, florid complexion, slightly Matched face, medium make5 feet 6 inches high, about 64 years of age; wore a dark tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, dark tweed vest whei he absconded, but bonght new clothes in Kilkenny next day; is a labourer. This man worked in Hull, Yorkshire, and was in America. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, AbbeyWx. Abbeyleix, 10th April, 1890. ( 1602 c— 75600.) sligo. Description of JOHN M'DERMOTT, native of Drumfad, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1890, in thi barony of Carbury, parish of Rosinver, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Mrs. Anne Dwyer, which have since been recovered :— Sallow complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 50 years of age, slightly bald; wore a soft hat, black necktie, and gray frieze coat; is a small farmer. Warrant in the bands of the police. Sligo, 4th June, 1890. ( 2526 c— 77304). Description of MICHAEL WALSH ( mother's surname Casey), native of Cashelduff, county Mayo, who stands charged with having, on the 15th May, 1890, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, and townland of Curry, unlawfully assaulted James Feely, thereby placing his life in danger:— Smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, pale com- plexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair ; wore a white tweed cap with peak, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Tubbercurry, 21st May, 1890. ( 2248c 76769.) Tipperary. Particulars relative toConvict PATRICK O'BRIEN, c 263, convic< ed at Clonmel Assizes, cotinty Tipperary, on 19th July, 1888, for the larceny of a pair of blankets, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 26 years of age on conviction, single; is a labourer; born at Clonmel, where he resided before conviction, and where his friends reside;— Dark brown hair, hazel eyes, dark brown eyebrows, medium nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 5^ inches high, cut mark left side of head and between left thumb and forefinger, burn mark on left knee and shin. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on 20th December, 1889, and went to reside at Clon- mel He failed to report himself to the R. I. C. there on the 2nd inst, he is suspected of having committed larceny and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under section 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 118. ( 331 H. C.) Description of EDMOND FARRELL, native of Killenaule, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd March, 1890, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Kelick Murry, had in Ms possession, knowing them to have been stolen, two asses, value £ 2 10s. ( since recovered), and the property of John Hogan :— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, very fresh complexion, thin hardy face, medium make, about 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, face all shaven except small sandy moustache j wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest. This man generally wears a silver coloured watch chain, but has no watch attached. He belongs to the Army Reserve, and has a soldier- like appearance. Warrant in hands of the police. Dundrum, 11th April, 1890. ( 75599.) Tyrone. Description of ANDREW GALLAGHER. native of Churchtown, who stands charged with having, on tbe 10th June, 1890, in the barony of West Omagh, parish of Skirts of Urney, stolea a horse, the property o! his brother, William Gallagher, of Churchtown :— Largo lump bottom of abdomen as if ruptured, shaved except small fair side whiskers, fiat feet, gray eye3, thick nose, fair complexion, lull face, stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 50 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed short coat, gray trowsers and vest. Warrant in hands of the Constabulary. Strabane, 11th June, 1890. ( 2711 c.— 77632.) PATRICK SHARKEY ( rape), described in Hue- and- Cry of 13th May, not arrested. ( 517 c.— 73739.) Waterford. Description of MICHAEL POWER, of no fixed residence, who stands charged with having, on the morniog of the 16. h May, 1890, in the barony of Upper- third, parish of Dysert, feloniously broken into the dwelling- house of Ellen Mara, at Kildraughtane, and indecently assaulted ber therein :— Gray eye3, regular nose, fresh complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 years of age. fair hair turning gray, and sandy whiskers and moustache turning gray, chin shaved; wore a hard felt hat much worn, old gray tweed coat much too large, old tweed trowsers lighter color than coat, no vest; is a labourer. Information sworn and Warrant issued and ia the hands of the Police at Carrickbeg. Portlaw, 18th May, 1890. ( 2243c 76764.) Westmeath. Description of TWO MEN, names unknown, who stand charged with having, in company with Thomas Bracken ( arrested), on the 25th June, 1890, in the barony of Corkaree, paiish of Rathconnell, assaulted one Patrick Commer, and robbed him of the sum of £ 1 15 « ., consisting of one pound note with " Parsons" written on back of it, also a bit out of one corner, a half sovereign, and five shillings in silver:— 1. Sallow complexion, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, no beard or whiskers; wore a black soft hat, tweed coat and trowsers; is a cattle drover. 2. Native of Longford, thin noee, dark complexion, tbin face, medium make, 5 feat 5 or 6 inches high abont 40 years of age, black hair, wore all his beai which is black, with moustache mnch heavier th; beard, dirty- looking face; wore a black torn coat brown tweed trowsers. Description of PATRICK LARDY, native of New Ross, who stands charged with having, on the 10th May, 1890, in the barony of Bantry, parish of St. Mary's, embezzled £ 8 10*., the property of the New Ross Brass Band Committee :— Gray eyes, regular ross, sandy oomplexion, long thin lace, slight make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, sandy hair; wore a hard brown hat, long striped coat, trowsers, and vest; all clothes same material; is an attorney's clerk ; generally carries a stick. New Ross, 1890. ( 72109 c.— 76532.) THOMAS MORAN ( embezzling), Hue- and- Cry, 4th July, 1880, not arrested. ( 1951 c.— 76244.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. Q Dlfislon; Wanted for stealing two post office orders, and obtaining cash on one by means of forgery at the General Post Office, on the 29th November, 1889, GEORGE LONSDALE:— Forty- seven years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair and beard, sandy complexion, stiff about the knees, medium make; dressed in a snuff- coloured check coat, knitted vest, blue trowsers, and felt hat.
