All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate nnmmwnication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General, Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that; a Warrant has been issued, « nd by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < tc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of the undernamed young offender, who, on the 17th December, 1889, absconded from the Malore Reformatory School at Belfast JOSEPH CARVILLE, 14 years of age, brown hair, blue eyes, heavy eyebrows, small nose, small mouth, fresh com- plexion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet 8 inches high; born at and formerly belonged to Lurgan; parents reside at Black's ourt, Lurgan; scar on left groin; wore a moleskin jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check lie, Bluchtr boots, and woollen stockings. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the - expenses of his conveyance if arrested to the nsarest Justice on remand, and will reward the per- son who may capture him with £ 1. ( 298 H. C.) SAMUEL BRITTEN, native of London, JOHN STEVEN, native of Birmingham, and ALFRED WELSH, native of Newcastle, Eng- land, who stand charged with having, on the 29th November, 1889. in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of St. Nicholas, unlawfully stolen, taken, and carried away a sum of money in coin, amounting to about £ 20, the property of Captain T. G. Perie, Gordon Highlanders :— 1. mole on back of left arm, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 23 years of age, brown hair; uniform of Gordon Highlanders; is a waiter. ^ Ato Belfast; description sent there. Pwo blue dots on face of left thumb, figure of a " on one arm, hazel eyes, sharp nose, freih com- plexion,^ jong face, slight make, 5 feet 6$ inches high, about 2 -* aw of age, dark brown hair; wore uniform of Gordon Highlanders; is a tailor. Went to Belfast; descripi nt there. 3. Scar 1| inch long under scapula, stoppage in speech, brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, stout make, 6 feet 6} inches high, about 24 years of age, light hair; wore uniform ot Gordon Highlanders; is a gunsmith. Description of THOMAS M'CURLEY, native of Ligoniel, who stands charged with having, on the 16th day of November, 1889, in the barony of Upper Belfast, parish of Shankhill, assaulted Constable Francis O'Brien while in the execution of his duty:— Brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, very stout make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 25 years of age, sandy hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest. Is a labourer, and served in the a< my. Lisburn, l9th November, 1889. ( 99674 71243.) Description of ROBERT MITCHELL, native of Strabane, county Tyrone, who stands charged with having, on the 8th November, 1889, in the barony of Upper Toome, parish of Drummaul, stolen from his employer, Edmond M'Manus, a glazier's diamond, value 15 « .:— Tattooed on back of both hands, American flap with stars and stripes on left, and a fern leaf on right, gray eyes, slightly cocked nose, fair complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a black peaked cap, gray coat and trowsers, and black vest, low shoes, nearly new; is a painter. Has a good address, and speaks with a slight American accent. A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Antrim, 14th November, 1889. ( 99583 c.— 71055.) Description of JOHN GRANT, native of Lisburn, who stands charged with having, on the 22nd day of October, 1889, in the barony of Upper Massareene, parish of Blaris, seriously assaulted Robert Hull, of Lisburc, thereby fractnring his skull and placing his life in danger;— Large mark of an evil on right side of neck and jaw, with pieces of flesh, now healed, projecting, blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 faet 9 inches high, about 28 years of age, sandy hair; wore a dark coat, white moleskin trowsers, and dark vest; is a labourer. Description of PATRICK MONAGHAN, ( believed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 7th November, 1889, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Kildrumsheridan, stolen a bullock, the property of Thomas Hamilton, and sold it on same day to Geo. M'Cabe:— Very slight make, black moustache, hooked nose, thin features, rather good looking, smart appearanoe, carried a stick, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a soft black felt hat, dark clothes, red and black woollen gloves, purple muffler round his neck. Bailieboro', 12th Nov- 1889. ( 99556c.— 70999.) Kildare. Description of MICHAEL M'GUIRE, native of Portarlington, who stands charged with having, on the 25th November, 1889, in the barony of Weet Offally, parish of Monasterevan, stolen 23 calves from Jeremiah Sexton, of Cork Recent cut on noee, blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, A feet 5 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a soft light- coloured tennis hat, brown sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. Is a cattle drover. The calves have been found. Kildare, 28th November. 1889. ( 99840 71538.) King's. Particulars relative to convict JAMES WILSON, A94, who has broken the conditions of his licence, convicted at Birr, King's Coun'y, on 8th October, 1879, for assault and robbing from the person after conviction for felony, and sentenced to 12 years' penal servitule:— 50 years of age on. conviction, single, is a baker, born at Bandon, resided before con- viction at Roscrea; gray hair, gray eyes, light brown eyebrows, thick nose, bridge flat, large mouth, thick lips, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet inches high ; scar on ball of left thumb, and several on top of head, enpping mark on left breast, large wart on right elbow. This man was released on licence from Mountjoy Prison, 7th December, 1888. He left his lodgings, No. 4, Samuel- street- court, Bel- tast, on the 30th ult., with jut notifying same, and his present whereabouts cannot be ascertain JJ. In the event of his arrest he shonld be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 297 H. C.) Description of THOMAS WALSH, native of Ferns, county Wexford, who stands charged with having, on Uie night of 7th or morning of 8th No- vember, 1889, in the barony of Geashill, parish of Geashill, stolen £ 4 15s. 6d. from the dwelling- house of John Kelly, of Killinmore Long nose, red com- plexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inched high, about 45 years of age, fair hair, sandy whiskers cut short and turning gray ; wore a tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, and tweed vest; is an itinerant. labourer. Description of JOHN CONNOR, native of Athlone, who stands charged with having, on the 26th day of October, 1889, in the barony of Ballycowan, parish of Kilbride, stolen £ 3 from the house of John Molloy, of Ballydaly, where he was employed as a or van t:— Slight halt, scarcely perceptible, in left foot; gray eyes, short thin nose, reddish complexion, small face, boyish looking, stout make, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair, f-. ee all shavod except slight brown moustache; wore a two- peakel cap, brown tweed jacket, tweed trowsers with whitish stripes, and light tweed vest; is e aployed as a ploughman and labourer by imJl farmers, and is ia Roscommon Militia. Description of RICHARD HYLAND. native of Brackna, who stands charged with having, on or about 7th October, 1889, at Brackna, in the barony of Coolestown, parish ol Clonsast, stolen a heifer, the property of Edward Campion, of Brackna Walks with a stoop; gray eyes, thick nose, pale sallow com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 60 years of age; wore a hard round hat, frieze coat, corduroy trowsers. Longford. Description of MICHAEL GORDON, native of Kingscourt, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on the 20th November, 1889, and sundry other dates, in the barony of Ardagh, parish of Temple- michael, embezzled various sums amounting to upwards of £ 30 sterling, from the Singer Sewing Machine Company:— Leans forward when walking, stooped rounded shoulders, gray tender eyes, large nose, florid complexion, round full face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, slight sandy moustache, small side mutton- chop whiskers; wore a round hard black hat, black coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest. Is an agent for the Singer Manu- facturing Company. Longford, 23rd Nov., 1889. ( 99750 c.— 71380.) Description of PATRICK M'NALLY, native of Shanmullagh, and MICHAEL HIGGUNS, of no flxed residence, who stand charged with having, on the 10th day of November, 1889, in the barony of Longford, parish of Cloonguish, stabbed Michael Quinn, thereby endangering his life :— 1. May have fresh cut- marks on his head and face dark eyes, thick nose, dark complexion, long thin face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 yars of age; is a stonemason. 2. Very stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark curly hair; is a shoemaker. Longford, 15th November, 1889. ( 99538 C.-- 71139). Description of THOMAS M'MANUS ( mother's surname Griffin), native of Drumlish, who stands charged with having, on the ' 15th day of October, ) 889, in the barony of Longford, parish of Killoe, stolen a cow, the property of James M'Nally, of Drumlish ( oow value for £ 11) :— Gray eyes, regular nose, pale oomplexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 42 years of age, fail: hair; wore a round black hat, white frieze coat, brown tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer and cattle dealer. Description of JAMES CULLUM, native of Larkfield, who stands charged with having, on the S8th day of October, 1889, in the barony of Granard, parish of Columbkill, stabbed Francis Brady, of Lark- field, in the back, from the effects of which his life is now in danger:— Dark heavy eyebrows, slovenly gait, leans forward when walking, down- looking appearance, • mall dark moustache, gray eyes, long thin nose, dark • allow complexion, long thin fase, medium make, 6 feat 1 inch Mgh, about 28 or 30 years of age, dark hair slightly tinged with gray; wore a hard hat, Drown tweed ooat, trowsers, and vest, Wellington boots; is a farmer's son. Description of FREDERICK MULLIGAN, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 17th day of November, 1889, at Drogheda, in the barony of Upper Duleek, parish of St. Mary's, by false pretences obtained a number of carpenter's tool*, rix.;— 4 planes, 5 saws, 9 chisels. 3 gimlets, 2 hammers, and 1 hatchet, all marked M S. Martin," value £ 3 10.?., the property of one Stephen Martin:— Tattooed on right arm, bine eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair, fair moustache; wore a round hard hat, dark coat, white plaid trowsers, and tweed vest. Ie a tramping carpenter. Warrant for arrest in hands of D. I., Drogheda. Drogheda, 21st November, 1889. ( 99709 c*— 71302.) Mayo. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 13th December, 1889, in the barony of Carra, parish of Islandeady, assaulted aad threatened to shoot Thomas Hopkins, gamekeeper, at Doogarry, who attempted to prevent him poaching:—- Military appearance and demeanour as if drilled, smart and active, pale complexion, thin face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age; wore a dark tweed two- peaked c « p, gray tweed sack coat; had long red beard. Castlebar, 15th Dec, 1889. ( 100! 31 72102.) Description of CHARLES TAYLOR, native of Bristol, England, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd December, 1889, in the barony of Carra, parish of Aglish, townland of Gurteenadrinagh, stolen a " Gladstone" bag, the property of Lieutenant C. Throckmorton, and a suit of clothes, the property of Lieutenant J. Lock, Royal Welsh Fusiliers:— Smart active appearance, prominent upper front teeth ; gray eyes, thin nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 incHes higb, about 23 years of age, fair hair; wore a light tweed coaf, trowsers, and vest, coat short, also wore a pair of brown kid gloves; is a private soldier in Royal Welsh Fusiliers, officer's servant. This man is strongly suspected ol having stolen a sum of money which was taken out of an officer's bed- room on the same night that this man disappeared, 3rd instant. Castlebar, 10th Dec, 1889. Description of PATRICK COLEMAN, alias TRAMP COLEMAN, native of Longwood, county Meatb, who stands charged with having, on the 20th or 21st November, 1889, in the barony of Lower Moyfeuragh, parish of Rathcore, stolen three calves ( since recovered), the property of Peter Boyne, Long- wood:— Smart active appearance, square shoulders, high cheeked bones, slight stoop when walking, haael eyes, thin cocked nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age; wore a round hard black hat, dark brown tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers, and dark brown tweed vest; is a stablo- boy. He has a good knowledge of horsas, and may be found in the neighbourhood of Mullingar or the Curragh employed as stable- boy, or may endeavour to emigrate to America. Gave his name as Dixon when selling the calves. Warrant issued. Trim, 7th December, 1889. ( 99993 a— 71863.) Description of TERENCE M'CONNELL, native of Rathdrina, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of November, 1889, in the barony ot Lower Duleek, parish of Knockcommon, stolen a cow, the property of Isabella Carpenter, which he is supposed to have sold at Collon fair, county Louth, on same date:— Slovenly gait, dark eyes, slightly cocked nose, dark sallow complexion, oval face, medium mike, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 23 years of age, black hair; wore a gray dust- coat, gray tweed trowsers, and tweed vest. Is a stable boy. Navan, 1st December, 1889. ( 99871 c.— 71607.) Monaghan, Description of JAMES TRAINOR, native of Tydavnett, county Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on or about the 4th December, 1889, in the barony of cremorne, parish of Ballybay, ab- sconded from the employment of his master, John Johnston, tea dealer, of Ballybay, taking with him about 24 pounds of tea, intrusted to him by his master for delivery to purchasers, and about £ 12 in cash re- ceived by him for bis master :— Round shoulders, shuffling gait, flat feet: blue eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 32 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, tweed trowsers and vest, small fair moustache, no beard or whiskers; is a pastry cook or baker. This man was sent ont by his master on the 25th Novem- ber last with a pony and trap to deliver tea to customers in and around Arva, county Cavan, and on the 4th instant he left the pony and trap at the house of a man named James Gormly, of Carnadrung, near Arva, county Cavan, saying he would be back next day, but did not return. Description of JAMES DUFFY ( mother's sur- name Kirk), native of Carrickmacross, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd December, 1889, in the barony of Farney, parish of Carrickmacross, assaulted Constable James Harte, R. I. Constabu- lary:— Tattooed on both arms, gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, brown hair; wore a tweed cap with peak, dark brown coat, tweed trowsers and vest; served in the Army, from which he has been discharged. He was summoned to Petty Sessions to answer the charge; he did not attend, and a Warrant has been issued for bis arrest. Carrickmacross, 8th Dec., 1889. ( 99992 a— 71862.) Queen's. ( 98463 c— 6( t 36.) sligo. Description of ANDREW BREHENY mother's surname Kelly), native of Ballymote, who stands charged with having, on the 18th September, 1S P. in the barony of Corran, parish of Emlaghfad, sto'cu nine heifers, five bullocks, and seven sheep, value for about £ 200, the property of his father, Michael Breheny, which he sold at Collooney Fair on 18th September, 1889, and decamped with the money :— Smart active make, full gray eyes, straight now, fair complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 27 years of age; wore a soft hat, dark blue coat, dark trowsers and vest; is a farmer's son; served in Marines. Warrant for his arrest in hands of the Police at Ballymote. Balljmote, 26th Sept., 1889. ( 98701 c 69427.) Description of JOHN HOPKINS, native of Thurles, who stands charged with having, on the 10th February, 1888, in the town of Cappequm, got married to a woman named Judith Cormack, his lawful wife being alive at the time:— Blind of an eye, one foot flat result of an injury, was in the army, dark complexion, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about- 50 years of age, dark hair, reddish whiskers; is a tramp and gathers rags in south and west of Ireland. Is accompanied by Judith Cormack, who is also blind of an eye and of small stature. If observed, informa- tion should be at once sent to the D. I. at Nenagh. Nenagh, 23rd November, 1889. Description of MICHAEL MOLONEY, alias MICHAEL M'MAHON, alias JOHN BYRNE,, alias MICHAEL WHITE, nativs of Feakle, county Clare, who stands charged on suspicion, with having,., on the night of 20th October, 1889, at Gurtlassobrien, in the barony of Owney and Arra, parish of Temple- chally, stolen three head of cattle, the property of Hugh Garahee ;— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 46 years of age, brown hair, turning gray; is a stonecutter, but latterly acts as a cattle drover, and attends fairs. This man has been several times convicted for cattle stealing, and is a returned convict on ticket- of- leave, who » has failed to report himself. Newport, 31st Oct., 1889 ( 99277 c.— 70464.> Description of EDMOND CROWE, native of Cutteen, who stands charged with having, on the night of 22nd or morning of 23rd October 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Sologheadbeg, stolen four calves ( since recovered), the property of Thomas Crowe, which he sold in fair of Newport, county Tipperary, on 23rd October, 1889:— Smart active appearance, respectable looking, dresses very tastily, gray eyes, straight nose, fresh complexion, oval face, smart make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a light- coloured overcoat,, light tweed trowsers, and vest; has the appearance of a jockey; is a farmer's son. Dundrum, 29th October, 1889. ( 99273 c.— 70522.)- Description of JOHN COFFEY, native of Gurt- mullen, who stands charged with having, on the 5th July, 1889, at Gurtmullen, in the barony of Ikerrin, parish of Roscrea, indecently assaulted one Maggie Coonan, and having been admitted to bail failed to appear at Nenagh Quarter Sessions, on 2nd October,. 1889:— Gray eyes, regular nose, swarthy complexion, thin face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age; wore a dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. A Warrant has been issued for his arrest. Roscrea, 13th October, 1889. ( 97338 o— 69941.) Description of PATRICK GLEESON, native of Mohir, who stands charged with having, on the 29th June, 1889, in the barony of Kilmanagh Upper, parish of Upperchurch, seriously assaulted James Corbitt and Michael Quinn, from the effects of which Corbitt's life is now in danger. He was bailed for trial and has absconded:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, soft round face, stout make, 6 feet higb, about 22 years of age, brown hair; wore a large soft hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. This man may endeavour to emigrate. Warrant for his arrest in hands of police at S - ehevrie. Thurles, 20th Sept., 1889. ( 97414 c.— 69219.) Description of JAMES POWER, native of Balls- bridge, Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 8th December, 1889, in the barony of Newcastle Upper, parish of Newcastle Upper, stolen from James Byrne a dark frieze overcoat, much worn, double- breasted, - with corners rounded at bottom, a dark pilot frock coat, a dark tweed trowsers and waistcoat with sleeves, a waistcoat, light colour, with sleeves, and a white chip hat, all value for about £ 5 :— Tattooed with star on back of left hand, crucifix above left elbow, and several letters or marks on same hand, large gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round fat face, rather stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 19 or 20 years of age; wore a soft white hat, light tweed coat, jacket make, tweed trowsers and vest; is a tramp. Particulars relative to convict JOHN SULLIVAN, A 841, convicted at Cork Spring Assizes, on 20J » March, 1884, for wonnding and grievous bodrly harm, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age on conviction, married, is a labourer; born at Cork; resided before conviction at Fox's street, Bandon, where his friends reside; brown hair, getting bald, brown eves, dark brown eyebrows, large nose, large mouth, dark complexion, oval visage, stout make; 6 feet £ inch high ; crucifix on left arm; eagle, flag, anchor, and tomb of Napoleon on right arm; English coat of arms, lion, unicorn, and crown on breast. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 27th September, 1889. He notified his rfeval in Cork to the R. NEVILLE, photo- grapher, Owston Ferry, who stands charged on Warrant with having, on the 29th day of November, 1889, at the parish of Owston Ferry, feloniously stolen one quarter plate lens wi: h double combination glass enclosed in brass tube, and one flange. The lens bears the initials of Ross and Co., Opticians, London ; the property of George Day ; value £ 2 :— He is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, pale oomplexion, brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, slim build; dressed in double- breasted black cloth jacket, black vest, striped cloth trowsers, oollar and light tie, gray hard felt bat, red socks, and lace- up boots recently soled and heeled. Neville has a wife or sister residing with Mr. Goodman, 50, St. Mary- street, Southampton. Has been in the employment of Mr. Day about 4 months. Wasted on Warrant, charged with stealing £ 1,314, the property of his employers, the Crawford Spinning Company ( Limited), Rochdale:— JAMES COUPE, manufacturer's salesman, living last at 62, Bank- street, Cheetham- hill, Manchester. He formerly lived at 7, Bennett- street, Crumpsall; he was also at one time in business at Todmerden, Yorkshire, as a siaer and warper; a native of Preston ; about 48 yews of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, very busby light sandy hair, parted in the middle, had light coloured whiskers, moustache, and eyebrows, light coloured eyes, rather deep sunk; a lowish forehead. This man's defalca- tions are very heavy, a charge of forgery will also be preferred against him by the Manchester City Police. He will endeavour to leave the country. Perthshire, Wanted, at Perth, und < r a Sheriff's Warrant, on a charge of fraud, committed at Glencarse, in this county, on 29th November last: — MATTHEW CHARLES WREN, alias CHARLES MATTHEW WELD, alias HUNTSMAN, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches or thereby iu height, fair hair, getting bald, no whiskers, fair moustache, round face, fresh complexion, stout mako has t prominent front teeth, speaks with English accent, and has good address; wore a yellowish tweed suit, getting shabby, shoulders of coat faded, and low- crowned black felt hat. His modus operandi is to call at the houses of county gentlemen and episcopal clergymen, and represent himself to be the son of an English gentleman, that he is newly back from Monte Carlo or from America, where he has spent a large sum of money by gambling, that he is now penitent, and that his father will receive him but will give him no money. On the faith of these representation!) he manages to raise small sums of money. This is evidently the person referred to in " English Police Gazette" of 27th September last, case No. 96, and in Dumbartonshire Information of 9th inst. The polios are requested to make careful search for this person, who is an accomplished swindler, and warn clergymen and others te> give immediate infor- mation to the police should ne call upon them.
