V- W" All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn; but it ia not necessary to forward the Information to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persona whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been Issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have tho Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. %' Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this Information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, iic., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of EMILY M'CART, native of Harryville, Ballymena, who stands charged with having, on the 9th day of August, 1889, in the barony of Lower Belfast, parish of Shankill, stolen 4 one pound notes, 3 bank deposit receipts, and a quantity of wearing apparel from the dwelling- house of Daniel O'Callaghan, where she had been employed as house- keeper. The stolen property has been recovered — Good looking, wants an upper front tooth, dark eye', regular nose, fresh complexion, round full face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 30 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed cap, dark gray shawl, navy blue skirt; is a mill worker. Description of JAMES PATTERSON ( mother's surname Lamont) native of Culdoo, who stands charged with having, on the 25th Juno, 1889, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Ballymoney, committed ^ rin4| cent assault and attempted to commit rape on Annie Guthrie, 22 years of age, seamstress; warrant issued, and remains in hand of D. I. at Ballymoney :— PimpW on face, very downcast appearance, gray eyes, regular flo'e, very swarthy complexion, long thin faco, slender i& ake, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 year* of age, light brown hair; wore a black cap, peak in soft hat, dark tweed frock coat, dark tweed tr. Description of MICHAEL GALLIGAN, native of Cullis, county Cavan, who stands charged with having, on tte 9th August, 1889, in the barony of Tullyhunco, parish of Drumlane, stolen a watch the property of Thomas M'Caffrey. The offence has not previously been inserted in the Hue- and- Cry s— Prominent teeth, has lost two teeth in upper jaw, hazel eyes, fair com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 18 years of age, brown hair; wore a gray tweed coat, plaid trowsers and vest; is a farm servant. Information sworn and Warrant in hands of R. I. Constabulary at Killeshandra. Killeshandra, 13th August, 1889. ( 97877 c.— 67979). Description of MATHEW M'DONNELL ( mother's surname Rudden), native of Drumavrack, who stands charged with having, on the 29th of June, 1889, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Annagh, in- decently assaulted Catherine Hegarty;— Small fair moustache, blue ot gray eyes, rogular nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap, black ( jacket- make) coat, gray twoed trowsers and vest; is a farm servant. A warrant for his arrest is in the hands of tho Redhills Constabulary. Cavan, 7th July, 1889.. ( 97089 c.— 66567.) Cork. Description of JOHN MURPHY and TIMOTHY MURPHY ( mother's surname Desmond), natives of Lesphiel, who stand charged with having, on the night of 11th or morning of 12th September, 18S9, in lie barony of Kerricurrihy, parish of Kilmoney, stolen two ewes and six lambs, the property of Jeremiah M'Carthy, from off his lands at Kilmoney, all value for about £ 14 ; one ewe and six lambs have beon recovered :— 1. Gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, abont 21 years of ago, fair hair; wore a hard round jerry hat, brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Has a pasmge ticket for America, and will endeavour to emigrate. ?. Brown and gray eyes, regular nose, fa'r com- plexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore a black cap with peak, light gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description of a WOMEN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 16th August, 1889, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Drumgoon, deserted a male child, about a month old, by leaving it near the Workhouse gate at Cootehill:— Large eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, Description of MICHAEL M'CARTHY, native of Coolbee, who stands charged with having, on the 31st day of August, 1889, in tho barony of Wost Division West Carbery, parish of Caheragh, seriously assaulted his brother, Timothy M'Carthy, by breaking his jaw:— Fair moustache, cocked nose, fair com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, fair hair ; wore a black felt hat, dark frock or tweed coat, and frieze trowsers; is a mason Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Skibbereen Skibbereen, 8th Sept., 1889. Description of DAVID FITZGERALD, native of Taur, who stands charged with having, on the morning of 8th August, 1889, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, with others, all disguised by wearing masks, entered the dwelling- house of James Tobin, of Knockduff Upper, and assaulted with hurleys his wife Abigail Tobin and his son James:— Very thin legs and small feet, small rise on bridge of nose, smart gait, hollow in back, thin nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 20 years of age, black hair; wore a soft wMte hat, brown coat, gray trowsers; is a tailor. Description of MICHAEL DENNEHY ( mother's surname, Brien), native of Carrigdownane, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th April, 1889, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, criminally assaulted one Margaret Roche, and attempted to commit a rape on her, at Kilquane, in said county:— Nose much deformed as if broken, blue or gray eyos, thin nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old black jerry hat, old dark patched coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark vost; is a farm labourer. This man's father is in Fermoy Union Workhouse. He generally works with farmers as an ordinary labourer. The Sergeant at Castletown- roche holds a Warrant for his arrest. Description of ELIZA SHEPPHERD, native of Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 8th September, 1889, at Figart, in the barony of Innish- owen, parish of Upper Fahan, stolon from the dwell- ing- house of her mistress, Lillian Wallace, £ 26 10* in gold, a lady's waterproof cloak, a brown leather bag, & c.:— Small chin, speaks with an English accent, reformed prostitute, small brown eyes, thin nose, pale complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 34 years of age, light brown hair 5 wore a black Cashmere dress, tight black cloth jacket rather long, black turned- up hat trimmed with black velvet and gray ribbon; is a servant. Description of JAMES COYLE, native of Claggan near Carrigart, who stands charged with having, on the 25th day of August, 1839, ia the barony of Innishowen, parish of Desertegney, stolon one five- pound note and one sovereign from his master, Denis M'Laughlin:— Blue eyes, long nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 17 years of age, light brown hair; wore a tweed coat, moleskin trowsors and vest; w a labourer. Description of THOMAS HEARY or SEARY, native of Virginia, county Cavan, who is remanded on suspicion of having committed a robbery or robberies:— Scars on face, bald on top of head, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round faco, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; wore a long brown coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a pickpocket, Lisnaskea, 21st July, 1889. ( 97451 c— 67167.) f Galway. j" Description of MAJOR SUTHERLAND, who stands charged with having, on the 27th August, 1889, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Ballina- iill, stolen, taken, and carried away an overcoat value for about £ 3, the property of Mrs. Isabella Noone, of Letterfrack, and also with having, during the period from 19th August, 1889, to 27th August, 1889 obtained goods by false pretences, namely board and lodgings, to the amount of £ 2 7s. Id., from the said^ Mrs. Isabella Noone, of Letterfrack, contrary to law:— Forefinger of one hand injured, somefiraes walks stifly on onaJ'S- tolievcd to be of unsonnd miml, regular noe, sallow complexion, shaved faco, medium make 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, about 40 years < f age, dark hair turning trray ; wore a hard round black hat, sometimes round cap, drab check shooting c: ) at, black cloth trowsers, gray vest, and brown leggings; appears to be travelling for fishing. Description of THOMAS FAHERTY, native of shamboulard, who stands charged with having, on the 1th day of Juno, 1889, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Ballinakill, counselled, aided, and abetted one Martin Faherty, his nephew, of Letterfrack, to commit an indecent assault on one Mary Nelly, of Letterfrack;— Full brown beard tinged with gray, bald on top of head, gray eyes, long thin nose, fresh oomploxion, long faco, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard brjwn hat, gray tweed frock coat, gray trowsers, and tweed vest. Is caretaker of Shamboulard House, dismissed policeman from Dublin Metropolitan Police. Sergeant M'Hale, Cleggan, holds Warrant ( or his arrest. Clifden, 27th June, 1889. ( 96714 c.— 66187). Kildare. Description of ROBERT M'LEASH, private in H. L. Infantry, who stands charged with having stolen from the Military Barracks, Kildare, barony of East Offaly, parish of Kildare, on night of 18th August, 1889, one tuit of dark gray chock tweed clothes, one silver watch, with the letters " A. L. D." and No. 93 engraved on inside, one penknifo with white bone handle, pioce broken off the handle, one wooden pipe, one gold ring, and eight shillings in stiver, all the property of private John Gilmore:— Large scar- mark on one cheek bone, bine eyes, slightly cocked nose, fresh complexion, medinm make, 5 feet 6J inches high, is a Scotchman, and believed to havo gone in the direction of Belfast. A warrant for his arrest is in tho hands of the District Inspector R. I. C. at Kildare. Kildare, 20th August, 1889. ( 97981c 68176.) Limerick. Description of JOHN WAIDE, native of Cappa- more, who stands charged . with having, on the 1st September, 1889, in the barony of Owneybeg, parish ot Tuogh, seriously assaulted John Burke, of Killuragh, thereby fracturing his skull and placing his life in danger:— Gray eyes, shoit thick nose, sallow com- plexion, round face, stout mako, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, about 24 years of age ; woro a black hard hat, brown tweed coat, corduroy trowaors, and brown tweed vest; is a labourer. New Pallas, 18th Sept., 1889. ( 98534 c— 69148). Description of PATRICK MARTIN ( mother's surname Ryan), native of Doon, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of September, 1889, in tho barony of Coonagh, parish of Doon, seriously assaulted George Franklin by striking him on tho head with stones, thereby placing his life in danger: Down looking, but shows tho white of eyes when spoken to, stammers when speaking, round shonldered, very black eyos, regular nose, dark inclined to ruddy com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 26 years of age, very black hair growing far down on forehead and vory thick ; wore a gray tweed peaked cap, dark brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Warrant issuod for his arrest and in the hands of the Sergeant, R. I. C., at Doon, county Limerick. New Pallas, 15th Sept., 1889. ( 93360 c— 69024). Description of MICHAEL BRETT, native of Buffand, Fethard, county Tipperary, who stands charged with having, since the 12th of August, 1889, in the barony of Lower Connelloe, parish of Rathkeale, cmlezzlcd several sums of money Amounting altogether to about £ 4, which were given him by customers for his master, John Cohoon, tea merchant:— Slight turn in both eyes which arc naturally bloodshot, gray eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair ; wore an old brown felt hat, dark twee! coat, light gray trowsers, dark tweed vest. NOLAN, alias THOMAS PAUL CULLEN, alias Mr. HARRINGTON ( obtaining money fraudulently), not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 13th September, 1889. ( 97239 c.— 58810.) Longford; Description of JAMES HESTER, native of Mayo, it is believed, who stands charged with having, on the 16th July, 1889, at Edgeworthstown, in the barony of Ardugh, parish of Mostrim, stolen the sum of £ 8, belonging to John Kearney, of Kilsallagh:— Hoarse voice when speaking, sandy whiskers and moustache, shaves his chin, gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, fair face, stout make, 6 feet hiq; h, about 40 years, of age, yellow haiT ; wore a black hat, tweed coat, trowscrs, and vest; is a labourer. ( 97513 67263.) i : S \ Mayo. f\ • rr — —• " ' Description of PAT CATTIGAN, native of Carrow- garrow, Achill Island, who stands charged with having, on the 5th September, 1889, in the barony of Burris- hoole, parish of Achill, assaulted Michael Kilbane of same place with a reaping hook, thereby endangering his life;— Sharp pointed chin, wears an imperial, face shaved, fresh cut on b ick of right hand, wears black wool in both ears, gray eyes, sharp- pointed nose, pale sallow complexion, tlin face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 37 or 38 vears ot age, dark brown hair ; wore a soft hat, dark frieze coat, cord Irowsers, dark vest. Is a farmer. Warrant in hands of Police at Achill Sound. Newport, 11th Sept., 1889. ( 98387 c 68914). Description of MICHAEL WALSH, native of Corimbla, sub- district of Ardnaree, county Sligo, who stands charged with having, on the 19th August, 1889, in the barony of Tyrawley, parish of Ballysakeery, stolen two sheep, the property of George Petrie, of Rosseek, which he sold in Ballina on same date. This man was arrested and remanded to Bridewell, at Ballina, from which he escaped on evening of 21st August, 1889. The stolen sheep have been recovered Walsh will endeavour to leave the country:— Rather irregular prominent upper front teeth, stammers slightly in speaking if- frightened or excited, gray eyes, regular nose, fair complexion, round'' face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24'- years of age, (' ark brown hair; wore a brown soft hat ' Vith broad leaf, dark cutaway coat, dark gray trowsera, dark vest; is a farm labourer. Ballina, 22nd Anguft, 1889. ( 98007 c— 68223.) Description of MARGARET REILLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on or about the 30th May, 1889, in the barony of Gallon, parish of Kilconduff murdered her infant female child, about years old, by drowning it in a brook near Swipeford:— Space between upper front teeth, fresh complexion, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, very bushy in front; wore a dark hat with red feather, woollen plaid dress rather dark, strong boots, is a tramp; this woman left Balla by a harvest train on 21st inst, and took a ticket for Liverpool. Description of JOHN SUTCLIFFE, native of Tunduff, who stands charged with having on the 27th June, 1889, and various other dates, in the barony of Cullenagh, parish of Abbeyleix, embezzled various sums of money amounting to about £ 228, the property of the' Guardians of tho Poor of Abbeyleix Union:— Wore all his beard which is dark turning gray, rather short ncck, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, frosh complexion, round face, medinm make, 5 feat 6 inches high, about 55 years of age, dark hair turning gray ; wore a round hard hat, blue serge sack coat, tweed trowsers, blue serge vest, is a farmer and rate collector. Warrant in the hands of District Inspector at Abbeyleix. Abbeyleix, 4th Sept., 1889. ( 98245 C.— 68621.) Roscommon. Description of JOHN LENNON ( mother's surname Harney), native of Rooskey, who stands charged with having, on the 3rd day of September, 1889, in the barony of Athlore, parish of St. Peter's, wilfully and maliciously assaulted one Thomas Lennon, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, roti. nd fico, stout make. 5 feet \ 8 inches high, about25 years ofttgfrred hair, small sandy moustache ; wore a two- peaked tweed cap, gr » y frieze coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest, is a farm labourer. Description of PATRICK MORRISSY, native of Portlaw, who stands charged with having, between 19th and 22nd August, 1889, in the barony cf Upper- third, parish cf Kilmeaden, stolen a 2- year- old heifer, * alue £ 12, the property of his father- in- law, John Walsh, from off the lands of Coolfin, snd which he is suspected of having sold at Dungarvan fair, on 21st instant:— Gray or blre eyes, small nose, pale sallow conplexion. small thin face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, looks younger, dark brown hair; wore » n old black coat, trowsers, and vest, which be will likely change; is a labourer. Description of MATTHEW BYRNE ( mother's surname Murray), native of county Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 31st day of August, 1889, in the barony of Arklow, parish of Kilpoole, stolen ( wo watches from the dwelling- house of Andrew M'Guirk, of Ballyguile:— Soldier- like appearance, was for some time in the army, and belongs to the Wicklow Militia; blue eyes, straight nose, dark pale complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 26 years of age, dirk hair; wore a two- peaked brown check cap, light tweed coat, trow ers, find vest; is a labourer and tramp. Warrant in hands of District- Inspector at Wicklow. Wicklow, 14th Sept., 1889. ( 93452 c.— 69023.) Description of WILLIAM DOYLE ( Mother's name Emily Walker), native cf Greystones, countv Wicklow, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd . August, 1889, 3id August, 1889, and 6th August, J 8£ 9, in tt e barony of Rathdown, parish of Delgany, obtained the sum of £ 14 4j. from Fanny Walker by fraud and false pretences-.— Dark eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, soft round face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 " inches high, about 19 years of age; wore a dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a butler in clubs. Bray, August 12th, 1889. ( 97831 c— 67869 ) ENGLISH POLICE. Bradford. Wanted on Warrant for Rape, SAMUEL S. NAYLOR, is a Clerk, last residence in Bradford, born in Weedon, 37 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high in boots, ginger hair, rather bald on top of head, blue eyes, rather stout build, fresh complexion. When he absconded he was wearing a heavy '' ginger moustache," but may now have it shaved off. Please cause strict search to be made cf all vessels sailing for foreign ports, as this man will endeavour to leave th country. It ii strongly suspected that this man is in Ireland ; if found arrest, wire, and an officer will be sent for him. Information to JAMES WITHERS, chief constable.
