HHGXTLATIONB. tw All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Serrate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall have been Sworn: but it is uot necessary forward the Informatious to the inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, • and by the name of the person in whose hands it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of thia nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. * « ' Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without thia information the mistake cannot be rectified. > Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, < tc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Antrim, Description of JAMES PATTERSON ( mother's surname Lament) native of Culdoo, who stands charged with having, on the 25th June, 1889, in the barony of Upper Dunluce, parish of Ballymoncy, committed an indecent assault and attempted to commit rape on i Annie Guthrie, 22 years of aje, seamstress; warrant issued, and remains in hand of RJ. at B^ llymoney Pimples on face, very downcast appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, very swarthy complexion, long thin face, slender make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 yeari of age, light brown hair; wore a black cap, peak in front, or soft hat, dark tweed frock coat, dark tweed trowscrs, dark vest; is a weaver. Ballymoney, 4th July, 1889. ( 96986 66340.) The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of their conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture them with £ 1 for each boy. Particulars relativo to English Supervisee JOHN M'CALL, otherwise HUGH LAPPING, otherwise THOMAS MOORE, otherwise PATRICK O'DONALD, convicted at Birkenhead Sessions, on the 23rd July, 1886, for stealing a coat, pipe, and two handkerchiefs, and sentenced to 6 calendar months' hard labour and 5 years' police supervision :— 30 years of age on conviction, single, is a slater, born at Belfast, and resided before conviction at South Anne- street, Liverpool; blaok hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 3 inches high, blue dot between left thumb and forefinger, cut on back of left thumb squiDts right eye, several small moles right of back. This Supervisee left his residence, 55 Divis- street, Belfast, on the 28th ultimo, without reporting to the R. I. C., and his present whereabouts is unknown. ( 248 H. c.) Cavan. Description of MATHEW M'DONNELL ( mother's surname Rudden), mtive of Drumavrack, who stands charged with having, on the 29th of June, 1889, in the barony of Tullygarvey, parish of Annagh, in- decently assaulted Catherine Hegarty :— Small fair moustache, blue or gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, regular face, stout make, 5 feot 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, fair hair; wore a tweed cap, black ( jacket- make) coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farm servant. A warrant for his arrest is in the hands of the Redhills Constabulary. Cavan, 7th July, 1889. ( 97089 c — 66567.) Clare. Description of JOHN FITZPATRICK, native of Lisdeen, county Clare, who stands charged with having, on the 27th July, 1889, in the barony of Moyarta, parish of Kilfieragh, assaultel Stephen Stapleton, by striking him on the head, thereby fracturing his skull and endangering his life:— Birth mark over left eye, prominent teeth, brown eyes, long nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feat 9 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair; wore a dark tweed coit, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Kilrush, 4th August, 1889. ( 97622 c.— 67617.) Cork. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the night of 9th or morning of 10th June, 1889, in the barony of Condons and Clangibbon, parish of Templemolaga, stolen three bullock calves, the property of John Hennessy, from off his lands at Kilclooney:— 1. Dark complexion, thin face, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age ; woie old black clothes; looked like a low butcher or jobber. 2. Dark complexion, thin face, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 24 years of age; wore a white straw hat with black band, old dark sack coat, old dark trowsers, dark vest; looked like a low butcher or jobber. These men were seen in locality on 9th June about 6 A. M. They had a small bay horse with rod painted cart and rail. About 11 A. M. on 10th June they were met near town of Midleton having three calves in cart answering description of stolen ones. Cart is supposed to be one described in Hue- and- Cry, county Limerick, 14th June, 1889. Mitchelstown, 17th June, 1889. ( 96694 c.— 65780.) Description of MICHAEL CONNOR, native of Berrings, who stands charged with havir g, on the 10th June, 1889, in the barony of East Muskerry, parish of Ababullogue, unla * fully stolen £ 20, composed of £ 10 in notes, £ 4 in silver, £ 4 in silver and a cheque for £ 2, the property of his master, John O'Kceffe, Miller, living at Brinny:— Awkward gait, brown eyes, cocked nose, reddish complexion, short round face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 28 years of age, dark curly hair, and dark side- whiskers ; he wore dirty brown tweed clotheB, which be is supposed to have got rid of, and got a new suit and new soft hat; is a driver of a dray. Ballincollig, 16th June, 1889. ( 96638 c— 65702.) Particulars relative to Convict MICHAEL M'GRATH, A 646, convicted at Cork Winter Assizes, on the 15th December, 1882, for burglary, and sentenced to 8 years' penal servitude; 43 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer, born at Kilmedan, county Waterford :— Black and gray hair, hazel eyes, black eyebrows, regular nose, medium mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 4 inches high, large scar on left side. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, 12th March, 1889, and went to reside at 27, Barrack- street, Dublin. He recently left his residence, 45, Benburb- street, without notifying change to Metro- politan Police and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 249 H. A) Description of MICHAEL DENNEHY ( mother's surname, Brien), native of Carrigdownane, who stands charged with having, on the night of the 28th April, 1889, in the barony of Fermoy, parish of Bridgetown, criminally assaulted one Margaret Roche, and attempted to commit a rape on her, at Kilquane, in said county:— Nose much deformed as if broken, blue or gray eyes, thin nose, sandy complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 45 or 50 years of age, sandy hair; wore an old black jerry hat, old dark patched coat, dark tweed trowsers, dark vest; is a farm labourer. This man's father is in Fernioy Union Workhouse. He generally works with farmers as an ordinary labourer. The Sergeant at Castlctown- roche holds a Warrant for his arrest. Mitchelstown, 4th Jnne, 1889. ( 95840 c.— 51211.) Description of the undernamed young offenders, who, on the 28th June, 1889, absconded from the Malone Reformatory School at Belfast:— 1. ANDREW GRAHAM, 17 years of age, light brown hair, gray eyes, light eyebrows, regular nose, regular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, mediuja make, 4 leet 9 inches high; is a tailor, born at Partick, Scotland, formerly belonged to Belfast: his parents reside at 43, Parker- street, Ballymacarrett, Belfast. Scar under each eye, blue dot on each hand near thumb. Dressed in a dark t^ eed jacket, trowsers, aad vest, Glengarry cap, blue strip d shirt, red and black check tie, Bloucher boots, and woollen stockings. 2. WILLIAM STEWART, 16 years of ago, d. rk hair, bine eyes, thin eyebrows, regular nose, o^ en mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, medium make, 4 feet 11 inches high ; is a farm boy, born at Glasgow, formerly belonged to Low- road, Lisburn; uncle resides at Low- road, Lisburn. Scar on right side of nose, eyes a little turned, furtive look. Dressed in a dark tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, Glengarry cap, blue striped shirt, red and black check tie, Bloucher boots, and woollen stockings I . THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CBY, AUtrUST 9, 1889. Description of THOMAS CONNORS, native of Gurtroo ( mother's surname Daly), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 14th April, 1889, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Clonpriest, attacked a dwellinghouse, and threatened to murder:— No beard or whiskers, gray eyes, regular nose, yellow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a two- peaked cap, dark tweed coat, trowsers, aud vest; is a labourer. JAMES GOOLD, arrested. Youghal, 19th April, 1889. ( 95625 a— 63826). Fermanagh. Description of THOMAS HEARY or SEARY, native of Virginia, county Cavan, who is remanded in suspicion of having committed a robbery or robberies:— Scars on face, bald on top of head, gray eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark hair; were a long brown coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a pickpocket. Lisnaskea, 21st July, 1889. ( 97451 c.— 67167.) Galway. Description of THOMAS FAHERTY, native of Shamboulard, who stands charged with having, on the 4th day of June, 1889, in the barony of Ballinahinch, parish of Ballinakill, counselled, aided, and abetted one Martin Faherty, his nephew, of Letterfrack, to commit an indecent assault on one Mary Nelly, of Letterfrack;— Full brown beard tinged with gray, bald on top of head, gray eyes, long thin nose, fresh complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 incites high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore a hard brown hat, gray tweed frock coat, gray trowsers, and tweed vest. Is caretaker of Shamboulard House, dismissed policeman from Dublin Metropolitan Police. Sergeant M'Hale, Cleggan, holds Warrant for his arrest. Clifden, 27th June, 1889. ( 96714 c — 66187). Description of JOHN MITCHELL ( mother's sur- name Donelan), native of Cloonlara South, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd of May, 1889, at Glenamaddy, in the barony of Ballymoe, parish of Beyounagh, seriously assaulted Michael M'Guire, of Ballyhard :— Slight hump on back, short neck, wears a small dark moustache; gray eyes, drooped nose, pale complexion, broad full face, very stout make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair ; wore a low hard black hat, gray frieze coat, corduroy trowsers; is a labourer; son to a small farmer ; may probably endeavour to go to England as a harvestman. Warrant in hands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Glenamaddy for his arrest. Dunmore, 29th May, 1889. ( 96324 C— 65134.) Kerry. Description of PATRICK MOYNIHAN, mother's surname M'Carthy, native of Knockdoora, who stands charged with having, on the 26th May, 1888, in the barony of Magunihy, parish of Kilcummin, been one of a party who murdered Patrick M'Carthy, of Meentogues: — Large black glaring watery eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 21 years of age, dark hair; wore a round hard hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Killarney, 2nd July, 1889. ( 88826 c 66379.) Limerick. Description of PATRICK FITZGIBBON, native of Singland, who stands charged with having, on the 28th day of July 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish i f St. John's, seriously assaulted Alice Maher, of Garryowen, by striking her on the head with a stone and fracturing her skull, thereby causing her death:— Twitches his mouth when speaking, brown eyes, regular nose, dark sallow completion, broad face, stout make, 5 feet inches high, about 83 years of age, dark hair, shaves all his face except moustache which is black; wore a long sack cloth coat, tweed trowsers and vest; is an engine driver in a factory. Warrant issued. Limerick, 30th July, 1889. ( 97627 67479.) Description of JOSEPH HAYES, native of c# inty Limerick, who stands charged with having, on the 19th day of May, in the barony of Coshma, parish of Croom, being an articled apprentice to ( James Feely, tailor, absconded and stolen his indentures :— Hollow back, brown eyea, long nose, sallow complexion, long thin face, medium mak e, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 19 years of age, dark hair; wore a brown tweed coat and trowsers, light vest. Warrant in the hands of the police. Adare, 1st June, 1889. ( 96474 0.- 65* 11.) Londonderry. Description of DAVID BROWN, JUNIOR, native of Tullanee, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of March, 1889, in the Half- barony of Tirkeeran, parish of Faughanvale, committed a rape on Matilda M'Ginnis, a girl of about 13 years of age;— Shuffling gait wants first joint of middle finger of right hand, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore an old navy blue coat, navy blue trowsers and vest; is a cattle drover. Warrant in hands of the Police. Limavady, 8th March, 1889. ( 94916 c.— 62438.) Longford, Description of JAMES HESTER, native of Mayo, it is believed, who stands charged with having, on the 16th July, 1889, at Edgeworthstown, in the barony of Ardugh, parish of Mostrim, stolen the sum of £ 8, belonging to John Kearney, of Kilsallagh:— Hoarse voice when speaking, sandy whiskers and moustache, shaves his chin, gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, fair face, stout make, 6 feet high, about 40 years of age, yellow hair; wore a black hat, tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Bally mahon, 24th July, 1889. ( 97513 c.— 67263.) Louth, Description ol RALPH MANLY alias GORE, native of England, who stands charged with having, on the 11th day February, 1889, in the barony of Dundalk, parish of Dundalk, committed forgery and fraud by presenting a forged cheque to a trader in Dundalk, and obtaining the sum of .£ 28 10i. thereon:—> Tattooed cross swords and O. M. C. or G. on left fore- arm, hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9^ inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore regimentals, but will probably dress in plain clothes; is a private in Royal Scots Greys. He will endeavour to emigrate. Warrant issued. Dnndalk, 13th Feb., 1889. ( 94486 c— 61604). Monasftan. Description of WILLIAM M'ENTAGGART ( mother's surname M'Entaggart), native of Kednamin- sha, who, on the 26th July, 1889, in tbe barony of Fatney, parish of Donaghmoyne, left his hone and has not since been heard of; he is believed to have met with foul play :— Slight birth- mark on forehead, also mark on middle finger of left hand, brown eyes, regular nose, florid complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 16 years of age, red hair ; wore a gray c< p with peak, yellow plaid coat, corduroy trowsers an f rest, strong laced boots. Carrickmacross, 6th August, 1889. ( 97761 c.— 67729.) mayo. Description of MARGARET REILLY, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on or about the 30th May, 1899, in the barony of Gallen, parish of Kilconduff, murdered her infant female child, about 1$ years old, by drowning it in a brook near Swineford :— Space between upper front teeth, fresh complexion, 4 feet 10 inches high, about 27 years of age, fair hair, very bushy in front; wore a dark hat with red feather, woollen plaid dress rather dark, strong boot*, is a tramp ; this woman left Balla by a harvest train on 21st inst, and took a ticket for Liverpool. Swineford, 22nd June, 1889. ( 96814 c.— 65998.) Description of JOHN NOLAN, native of Birdhill, Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of March, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, unlawfully and feloniously em- bezzled and converted to his own use the sum of £ 3 lit. 6d., the property of the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company, while acting in his capacity of clerk in the Company's goods store, Tip- perary:— El- looking, knock- kneed, and high cheek- bones, hazel eyes, long nose, pale complexion, thin face slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair; wore a hard round hat, black serge coat, brown striped trowsers, black serge vest; wore a white necktie, and dark waterproof coat with cape; is a clerk in goods store. Warrant in hands of the District In- spector, at Tipperary. Tipperary, 2nd April, 1889. ( S5376 c.— 63265.) Tyrone. Description of ANDREW M'GIRR ( mother's surname M'Nally), native of Tullvglash, who stands charged with having, on the 16th June, 1889, at Ball) msckelroy, in the barony of Clogher, parish of Erriglekeerogue, violently assaulted one Alice M'Veigh, and violently and against her will attempted to have carnal knowledge of the said Alice M'Veigh. This man was bound by recrgnizar. co to appear at Ballygawley Petty Sessions on the 16th July, 1889, but failed to . do so:— Full mouth, no whiskers or moustache, gray or blue eyes, regular nose, sandy complexion, thin frechlcd face, slight make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 19 years of age, sandy or red hair; wore a round hard hat, faded gray coat, trowsers, and vest; is a servant. Will likely endeavour to emigrato to America. Warrant for his arrest is in the bands of the Royal Irish Constabulary at Ballygawley, county Tyrone. Aughnacloy, 18th July, 1889. ( 96786 c.— 67026.) Description of HUGH PARKER, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd of April, 1889, in the barony of Middle Dun- gannon, parish of Clonfeacle, stolen from the dwelling- house TO" James Belshaw one gray tweed vest, one pair of woollen drawers, and one pair of socks, value for twelve shillings, at Benburb, county Tyrone :— fife art active appearance; shaves all the face, except moustache, which is dark- brown; blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, s ight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, looks younger, dark- brown hair; wore a black one- peaked cap, blue tweed coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; employed in a linen factory. This man is a tramp; will likely be fonnd in linen or flax mills. Warrant for his arrest is in hands of Royal Irish Constabulary at Benburb. Aughnacloy, 26th April, 1889. ( 95790 64056.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN PCLIOE, ( I Division, £ 50 REWARD. Description of a man. who gave the name of JOSEPH B. LYNAM, of the firm of Balman, Bros., New York, wanted here on Warrant, for obtaining on the 12th inst., by false pretences, the sum of £ 150, from an office in this city:— He is about 40 years of ago, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout make, broad shoulders, thick neck, dark hair, face shaved except moustache, which is slightly gray, sallow complexion, gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in black cloth dress coat, clerical pattern, and hard black jerry hat. The above Reward will be paid to any one giving information leading to his arrest and conviction on application to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Exchange- court, to whom any information concerning him should be sent. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Exchange- court, 28th March, 1889. Description of a man, calling himself Dr. J. COLLIER, wanted here on Warrant for obtaining goods and money by means of boguscheques, purporting to be on the London Colonial Bank, 36, Lombard- street, E. C., which is fictitious :— He is about 35 years old, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, medium make, fair hair and complexion, shaved face, except small fair moustache, right arm contracted at elbow, in consequence of which he has to hold the pen between his middle fingers when writing ; he speaks English and French fluently. He may be found wearing a gold English lever watch, No. 10058, and a gold Albert chain, long and short link pattern, and gold seal attached. Information to be given to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDY, Exchange- oourt, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest. WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. Exchange- court, 28th March, 1889. Description of THOMAS H. NOLAN, alias THOMAS PAUL CULLEN, alias Mr. HARRING TON, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on sundry dates in July, 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St Michael's, obtained money and goods by means of forged cheques, and is now on remand in Limerick Male Prison, and may have com- mitted similar offences elsewhere:— Brown eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, round face, shaved, Stout make, 5 feet 8 inches high, abont 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a black serge dress coat; is a professional swindler, so far as is known. Limerick, 11th July, 1889. ( 97239 c.— 66810.) Tipperary. Description of PATRICK ST. JOHN, native of Priestown Demesne, who stands charged with having, on the 16th May, 1889, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Drangan, assaulted and beaten one Edmund Burke, of Cupporagranagh, thereby causing his death, on 25th May, 1889:— Keeps his hands in trowsers pockets when walking, peculiar small brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair, no beard or whiskers : wore a wide- awake hat, dark sack- made coat, light trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Killinaule, 30th May, 18? 9. ( 96^ 28 o.— 65188.) . THE POLICE GAZETTE, OH HUE- AND- CRY, AUGUST 9, 1889. BROWN, 27J years of age, 5 feet 5f inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. He is a nativo of Dublin, and when last seen was dressed in regimentals, he being a Paymaster's Sergeant in the Cheshire Regiment. He is said to have gone to Ireland where he has" friends in the persons of P. Brady, Ballyconnell, and L. Corri, Forester to Lord Erne, at Loch Erne, county Cavan. He is also said to have £ 100 deposited in a Dublin bank. Information to Superintendent DONOHOE, Detective Department, Salford, who holds the Warrant for his arrest. PHILIP DONOHOE, Superintendent 12th June, 1889. ( 247 H. C.) Staffordshire. Description of WILLIAM KEARNEY, alias KARNEY, wanted on Warrant, charged with stealing £ 45; a dark blue sack overcoat, with velvet cellar, single- breasted, broad check lining, cloth buttons, pockets on hips and ticket- pocket with flaps, outside left breast- pocket w ith out flap ; a dark blue cloth j acket and vest, and a pair of light blue drab trowsers, " C. Dyke " on buttons, and may have the maker's full name " C. Dyke, 5, Princess- street, London," on buttons; several stand- up collcrs, size 15; several pairs of socks, and a number of linen handkerchiefs; some cambric handkerchiefs with borders,, some may be marked " H. Stewart," and a pair of heavy nailed shooting boots. The above was servant to Lieutenant Hopton Stewart, and stole the above'named articles from Whittington Barracks some time between the 6th and 8th instant. Renfrewshire. Wanted here, charged with theft by housebreaking by means of false keys, committed at Pollokshields, in this county, on 16th July, 1869, WILLIAM MONTEITH, a convict on licence, sajs he is a joiner, native of Glasgow, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, ordinary made, dark brown hair, sandy- coloured moustache, otherwise clean shaved, round face, large forehead, straight nose, hazel eyes, dark complexion, has a smart appearance, and speaks with Scotch accent. Is pock- pitted between eyebrows and on right side of forehead, has a black mole on left cheek and three on back of neck, and a scar from operation below throat. Dressed, when last seen, in brownish felt hat, light tweed jacket suit, and light shoes Accused was convicted of theft by housebreaking before the Circuit Court, Glasgow, on 26th December, 1883, and sentenced to six years' penal s rvitude. He wa3 liberated on licence on 15th January, 1889. He is a companion of Robert Stirling, presently in custody on same charge. B : th were discovered in a bouse at Pollokshields on the 16th instant. Stirling was apprehended, but Monteith escaped by lowering himself 30 feet with a roj, e from a window on the third flat. On Monday morning, the 22nd July, between 8 55 and 9 5 o'clock, Walter Davies, an Assistant Pawnbroker, was murdered by being stabbed in several places at his master's shop at Atherton. Stolen from the shop about the same time:— A large- size massive silver English lever watch, capped, heavy cases, engraved rim, No. 4,148, new, crystal glafs. A silver English lever watch, capped, crystal glass, No. 6,295, new; maker, " A. Crook, Patricroft." A silver English lever watch, capped ( second hand); maker, " Rudd, Atherton and Farnworth." Also several ladies' small silver watches, numbers and descriptions unknown. Description of Murderer:— Ape 26 years, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh looking ( tanned), slight dark moustache; dressed in a hard felt hat, dark coat and vest, blue cotton shirt, collar, and supposed no tie. The silver English lever watch, capped ( second- hand), maker, " Rndd, Atherton and Farnworth," has been recovered. This watch is No. 54,410, and was pledged at Percy's, Deansgate, Manchester, abont 1 p. m.. on the date of the murder, by a man who gave the name of Fred Smith, 16, Clarence- street, Man- chester ( found to be false), and is of the same description as the man who pledged the watch at Liverpool, on Monday evening. 1 The watch No. 40,274 and chain Attached has been found pledged in Manchester, by a man who gave the name of Isaac Ogden, but the same address as the man calling himself Fred Smith. - The pledging took place at 1 30 p. m., on the day of tto murder, viz. 22nd July last. Stolen, between the 20th Jnly and 3rd inst., from the shop 29 Market- street, Atherton, where Walter Davis was murdered, and may have been taken- at the time of the murder:— A man's black worsted reefer coat and vest ( new) bound with black braid, four pockets outside and one inside right breast; had the word " Reliable " on tab.
