Wf" All Notices intended for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unless an Information shall h^ pe been Sworn: but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature, ffill be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of MisdemeanOut' should be accompanied by a statement that a Warrant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hanms it is. But the Constabulary should remember that they cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. V Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, a8 without this information the mistake cannot be rectified. Prison and police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of Gaols, Stations, & c., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry " no longer necessary. Description of JOHN FISHER, native of Germany, who stands charged with having, on the 8th March, 18t- 9, at Carlow, in the barony of Carlow, parish of Carlow, stolen a silver lever watch ( the watch has been recovered), the property of William Vass, of Carlow Has boils or sores on back of neck, flushed face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a two- peaked cap of gmy tweed, dark coat, trowcers and vest; the face is shaved, except moustache, which is dark. Generally carries a re- volver. Fisher is a tramping German, who states he is an expert at watchmaking ; also calls on clergymen to tune organs. Carlow, 12th March, 1889. ( 95009 c.— 62607.) Cavan. Description of FRANCIS QUINN, ( mother's surname, Doogan), native of Smear, county Longford, who stands charged with having, on ttie 2oth January, 1889, in tbe barony of Tullyhunco, parish of Killa- shandra, dangerously assaulted Patrick Reilly, of Drumhaldry, county Longford, and who escaped from thfe Police Escort on the 5th February, 1889, at Cornea, county Cavan, while being conveyed to Petty Sessions:— Brown eyes, long noee, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 6 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a round hat, check < weed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a larmer's s< n. killeghandra, 7th Feb., 1889. Description of WILLIAM ROCHE ( mother's surname Donoghoe), native of Gurtarahilly, who siands charged wiih having, on the 7th day of March, 1889, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Ballyvournty, assaulted Edmund Sweeney, of Gurtarahilly, so as to endanger his life:— Slightly lame in right leg, it having been broken above ankle, brown eyes, cocked nose, fresh complexion, full and fat face, stout make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about .22 yeo- fi of age, block hair; wore a black hat, dark brown tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Description of TWO MEN, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 28th April, 1889, in the barony of Duhallow, parish of Clonfert, entered the house of William Larkin, of Milleenduff- Rockchapel, and fired 2 shots therein, one of which took effect in the right thigh of Lis wife and wounded her seriously :— 1. Nose turned down a little at top, has impediment in his speech ; small nose, thin face, slender make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 24 years of age, no beard or whiskers, very slight fair moustache ; wore a gray two peaked cap, blue sack coat, dark trowsers and vest. 2. Gray eyes, dark complexion, pale face, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 20 years of age, no beard, whiskers, or moustache; wore alow soft hat with broad leaf. Kanturk, 1st May, 1889. ( 95818 e— 61201. Description of THOMAS CONNORS, native of Gurtroo ( mother's surname Daly), who stands charged with having, on the night of the 14th April, 1889, in the barony of Imokilly, parish o! Clonpriest, attacked a dwelling house, and threatened to murder :— No beard or whiskers, gray eyes, regular nose, yellow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 24 years of age, dark hair; wore a two- peaked cap, dark twted coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Description ot JAMES MEADE, native of Bally- longane, who stands charged with having, on, the 23rd January, 1889, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Cloyne, indecently assaulted a girl named Ellen Quirk, aged 10 years:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 17 years of age, fair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer. Description of JOHN KINSELLA, native of Raheny, county Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd April, 1889, in the barony of Coolock, parish of Raheny, county Dublin, sold a tree, value for 158., the property of Mr. John F. Sweetman, to John Byrne, of 29 Buckingham- street. Dublin, falsely representing to Mr. Byrne th it the tree was his ( Kinsella's) property :— Walks lame with right leg which is bowed, it having been broke* at hip; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, red face stoat make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about SO years of age, face shaved, except moustache which is sandy, sandy bair; wore an old blue serge jacket- make coat, serge trowsers and vest, is a labourer. Descript ienof the undernamed young offender, who, on the 26th March, 1889, absconded from the St. Conleth's Reformatory School at Philipstown:— THOMAS SHERLOCK, No. 1073, between 18 and 19 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, weak sight, dark brown hair, brown eyes, long nose, small mouth, oval visage ; 2 middle toes on right foot stuck together. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin; father dead ; mother lived at said place when boy was admitted. The School dress, all with Reform itory Stamp, consists of soft hat, corduroy trowsers, vest and tnnic. Will probably change ' hia clothes and try to get work with a farmer. The Manager of the Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, and will reward the person who may capture him with £ 1. Description of PATRICK HYNES ( mother's surname Moroney), native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 22nd February, 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish of St. Mary's, unlawfully* and burglariously entered the dwelling house and store of Stephen Tubridy, of Athlunkard- street, in this city, and stolen therefrom the sum of about 15*.:— Gray or blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hard hat, brown tweed ooat and vest, much worn, old navy blue trowsers, bad old liighlow boots. Supposed gone on tramp through the country. Warrant in hands of District Inspector, Limerick. Limerick, 4th March, 1889. ( 94783 c._ 62306.) Description of PATRICK DALY, native of Bally- currane, who stands charged with having, on the 11th February, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Emly, county Tipperary, unlawfully in his posses- sion three bullocks, the property of R. C. Dobbs, which were stolen from his farms at Knockgreau and Knocknacrohy, county Limerick, on 4th September and 26th November, 1888 :— Ill- looking, speaks rather loud and partly through his nose; rather long nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 year* of age, brown hair; wore a bluish coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Description of DAVID BROWN, JUNIOR, native of Tullanee, who stands charged with having, on the 6th day of March, 1889, in the Half- barony of Tirkeeran, parish of Faughanvale, committed a rape on Matilda M'Ginnis, a girl of about J 3 years of age:— Shuffling gait, wants first joint of middle fiuger of right hand, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore an old navy blue coat, navy blue trowsers and vest; is a cattle drover. Description of RALPH MANLY alias GORE, native of England, who stands charged with having, on the llth day February, 1889, in the barony of Dundalk, parish of Dundalk, committed forgery and fraud by presenting a forged cheque to a tradar in Dundalk, and obtaining the sum of £ 28 10s. thereon :— Tattooed cross swords and O. M. C. or G. on left fore- arm, hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 9J inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore regimentals, but will probably dress in plain clothes ; is a private in Royal Scots Greys. Roscommon. Defcription of PATRICK DOCKERY, native of Ardkeena, who stands charged with having, on various daU* s in December, 1888, and Januiry, 1889, in the banmy of Roscommon, parish of Ogulla, feloniously stolen certain letters and packages, the property of the Postmaster- General:— Has high, rather round, shoulders, gray eyes, long nose pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 2 5 ye- irs of age, dark hair; gecerally wears a tweed cap . wore a bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a Post Office messenger. Description of MICHAEL KIVEL ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 16th March, 1889, in the barony of Corran, parish of Kilturra, stolen an ass, the property of William Shaw, which has since been recovered:— Smart, active appearance, wore all his beard which is dark brown, moustache shaved off, regular nose, sallow complexion, round broad face, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of age, dark brown hair ; wore a dark hard hat, brown tweed coat ( much worn), corduroy trowsers, patches on the knees, and tied under the knees with a string ; wore clogs, and a coloured cotton sfcirt without collar or neck- tie ; looks like a labourer, Tubbercurry, 28th March, 1889. Description of JOHN M'CORMICK ( mother's surname, Sweeny, native of Toorlestraun, who stands charged with having, on the 13th February, 1889, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, at Tubbercurry, assaulted Thomas Gallagher, so as to endanger his life :— Left leg appears stiff, when walking, drags it slightly, got a black eye in fight, small mark still remains; gray eyes, regular nose, fair rather pale complexion, rather long face, medium make, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of a? e, dark fair hair; wore a black hard hit, dark sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vest; is a labourer. Tubbercurry, 27th Feb., 1889. ( 94792 c.— 52192.) Tipperary. Description of JOHN NOLAN, native of Birdhill, Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the 7th day of March, 1889, in the baroay of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, unlawfully and feloniously em- bezzled and converted to his own u « e the sum of £ 3 11 » . 6d., the property of the Waterford and Limerick Railway Company, while acting in his capacity of clerk in the Company's goods store, Tip- perary:— Ill- looking, knock- kneed, and high cheek- hones, hazel eyes, long no^ e, pale complexion, thin face slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark hair ; wore a hard round hat, black serge coat, brown striped trowsers, black serge vest; wore a white necktie, and dark waterproof coat with cape ; is a clerk in goods store. Warrant in hands of the District In- spector, at Tipperary. Tippe- ary, 2ad April, 1889. ( 95376 c— 63265.) Description of MICHAEL TOBIN, native of Shrough, near Tipperary, who stands charged with having, on the night of 17th or morning of 18th January, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Ballybrood, feloniously stolen and taken away six bullocks, the property of Mrs. S. E. Gabbett, from her farm at Mountminnett, county Limerick, and that he had the same unlawfully in his possession :— Dark eyebrows and moustache, dark beard and whiskers cut short, regular nose, dark complexion, regular face, slight make, 5 feet 6 iaches high, about 35 years of age, dark hair ; wore a soft dark hat, dark clothes ; is a cattle jobber. He deals in ponies and Kerry cattle, and frequents fairs in the west of Ireland. Dundrum, 1st March, 1889. ( 94064 62250.) Description of WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Duncummin, who stands charged with having, on the 12th of February, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Tipperary, had three stolen calves in his possession, knowing them to be stolen. The calves are the property of Mrs. E. Gabbett, Monntminnitt, county Limerick:— Freckled face, small eyes, swarthy complexion, thin face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of ag&, dark hair; wore a bright twe jd coat, corduroy trowsers; is a labourer. Tipperary, 22nd Feb., 1889. ( 91064 c— 61949 ) Tyrone. Descriptions of HUGH PARKER, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd of April, 1889, in the barony of Middle Dun- gannon, parish of Clonfeacle, stolen from the dwelling- house of James Belshaw one gray tweed vest, one pair of woollen drawers, and one pair of socks, value for twelve shillings, at Benburb, county Tyrone:— Smart active appearance; shaves all the face, except moustache, which is dark- brown; blue eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, thin face, sight make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 35 years of age, looks younger, dark- brown hair; wore a black one- peaked cap, blue tweed coat, gray tweed irousers and vest; employed in a linen fac'ory. This man is a tramp; will likely be found in linen or flax mills. Warrant or his artes is in hands of Royal Irish Constabulary at Benburb. Aughnacloy, 26th April, 1S89. ( 95730 c 64056.) Waterford. Description of JEREMIAH O'NEILL, native of_ Mallow, county Cork, who stands charged with havirufl on the let day of March, 1889, in the barony of Cosh- more and Coshbride, parish of Liemore, stolen a mare^—' the property of Francis Taaffe, etq., out of his stable- yard at Fortwilliam, county Waterford :— Very slight limp, and a very marked lisp when speaking; blue eyes, regular fiote, sandy complexion, clean- shaved face, stent make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age ; is a groom. Description of JAMES COUGHLAN, native of Athlone, who stands charged with having, on the 2nd April, 1889, in the barony of Brawney, parish of Saint Mary's, indecently assaulted Margaret Reilly, of Ballymahon, county Longford, with the intent to commit a rape upon her;— Military bearing, smart active appearance, shaves all bis face except a small fair moustache; blue eyes, regular nose, fresh com- plexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, about 28 or 30 years of age, fair hair inclined to yellow ; wore a round hard black hat, grey tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a . journeyman ca- penter. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison on licence, the 4th instant, and stated he was going to reside in Dublin. He reported to the Metropolitan Police that he would notify his place of residence when he obtained lodgings, but he has not done so, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 242 B. C.) £ 50 REWARD. Description of a man, who gave the name of JOSEPH B. LYNAM, of the firm of Balman, Bros., New York, wanted. here on Warrant, for obtaining on the 12th inst., by false pretences, the sum of £ 150, from an office in this city:— He is abr ut 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout make, broad shoulders, tbiok neck, dark hair, face shaved except moustache, which is slightly gray, sallow complexion, gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in black cloth dress coat, clerical pattern, and hard black jerry hat. Convict PATRICK NOLAN, A 699, not arrested ; Hue- t nd- Cry, 12th Marcb, 1889. ( 230 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Derbyshire. AMENDED INFORMATION. Wanted on Warrant, charged with stealing three bullocks, value £ 35, from a field at Aston- on- Trent, in this county, at 7 30 a. m., 19th inst., the property of Mr. Joseph Turner. The bullocks have been recovered. By a farm labourer named Benjamin Hibbert; ho is of the following description, viz.:— Twenty years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, black hair, roundish face, no whiskers or moustache. Is rather round- shouldered, long neck, prominent throat ( Adam's apple), all his toes are contracted, and he walks heavily on his heels, leans forward and goes with a slouching gait, one leg slightly bowed. Was dressed, black hard felt hat, new blue- black overcoat, brown check mixture tweed suit, rather worn, light lace- up boots. This man booked by the 3 20 p. m. train on 19th inst., from Derby to Holyhead, and from Holyhead to Dublin, and on the 20th " from Dublin to Queenstown. Information sworn. Information to Chief Superintendent, Detective Department, Liverpool. 15th March, 1889. ( 235 H. C.) Information requested as to the whereabouts of licence- holder THOMAS DELANY alias WILSON, released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Mountjoy, on the 13th instant, on licence to this city, for the purpose of emigrating to America, but who refused to proceed in the vessel, end his whereabouts are unknown since the 16th instant:— He is a shoemaker, native of Tip- perary, 49 years of age, 5 feet 2$ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, stout build, fresh complexion, oval features, large cut scar on outside corner of right eye, cut on right wrist, wart near corner of right eye, some- what deaf, and lost an upper front tooth. Ho was convicted at Birr, King's County, 8th October, 1879, of burglary, after previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude.
