TS: — All Notices interned for insertion in the Hue- and- Ory are to be transmitted under, cover, addressed to the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, authenticated by a Separate Communication. No Description can be inserted unlsss an Information shall have been Sworn j but it is not necessary to forward the Informations to the Inspector- General. Notices respecting all Felonies and such Misdemeanours as are of an aggravated nature will be inserted. All Descriptions of persons whose apprehension is sought on a charge of Misdemeanour should be accompanied by a statement that a Wan- ant has been issued, and by the name of the person in whose hands jt is. But the Constabulary should remember that tliey cannot arrest a person charged with an offence of* this nature unless they have the Warrant in their possession when making the arrest. •? %• Should irregularities arise in the delivery of the Hue- and- Cry, it will be necessary to forward one of the covers, or give the number it bears, as without this information the mistako cannot be rectified; Prison and Police Authorities are particularly requested to be good enough to inform the Inspector- General, Royal Irish Constabulary, Dublin Castle, of the abolition of N tions, dtc., and of any circumstances rendering the supply of the " Hue- and- Cry" no longer necessary. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 24 th January, 1889, in the barony of Lower Toome, parish of Ballymena, obtained money by false pretences and forgery;— Full ( white yellowish) eyes, straight nose, very swarthy complexion, full face, stout make, 6 feet 10 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair, tingod with gray ; wore a round hard hat, gray tweed Norfolk jacket, trowsers and vest, to match; has been in America; is a good talker; pretends he is a military man named Major Rhodes, and has served on the Staff in Egypt I is a swindler. Armagh, Description of PATRICK LENNON, native of Cladybeg, whj stands charged with having, on the 22nd day ot . March, 1889, in the barony of Lowerfews, parish of Kilclooney, murdered his father, Arthur Lennon;— Two Iront teeth broken, supposed in upper j* w, dark eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, ronnd clean- shaved lace, stout make, 5 feot 8 inches high, about 45 years of age, dark hair; wore a dirk felt bat, dark tweed c> at, molesWin trowsers, dark tweed vest; ia a farmer's son. Ho will likely try to escapo In England or Scotland. Portadown, 24th March, 1889. ( 95201 c.— 62988.) _ Carlow. Description of JOHN FISHER, native of Germany, who stands charged with having, on the 8th March, 1889, at Carlow, in the barony of Carlo w, parish of Carlow, stolen a silver lever watch ( the watch has been recovered), the property of William Vass, of Carlow Has boils or sores on back of neck, flushed face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 40 years of age; wore a two- peaked cap of gray tweed, dark coat, trowsers and vest; the face is shaved, except moustache, which is dark. Generally carries a re- volver. Fisher is a tramping German, v. ho states he jf an wcpert at watchmaking; also calls on clergymen to tune organs. •^ Carlow, 12th March, 1889. ( 95009 62607.) Cavan. Description of FRANCIS QUINN, ( mother's surname, Doogan), native of Smear, county Longford, who stands charged with having, on the 25th January, 1889, in the barony of Tullyhunco, parish of Killa- shandra, dangerously assaulted Patrick Reilly, of Drumhaldry, county Longford, and who escaped from tho Police Escort on the 5th February, 1889, at Cornea, county Cavan, while being convoyed to Potty Sessions:— Brown eyes, long nose, dark complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 18 years of age, dark hair; wore a round bat, check tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farmer's son. Killeshandra, 7th Feb., 1889. ( 94247 c— 61429.) Cork. Doscription of a TINKER, WIFE, and DAUGHTER, names and native places unknown, who stand charged with having, on the 7th March, 1889, in the barony of West Muskerry, parish of Inchigeela, stolen £ 14 10s. from the house of one John King, where they lodged the provious night:— 1. Slightly lame of left leg, cocked nose, dark complexion, round faco, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 50 years of age, dark curly hair; wore an old brown overcoat, plaid trowsers; is a tinker. 2. Brown eyes, sallow complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 60 years of age, black hair; wore a navy blue dress, old hooded cloak ; is wife of above. 3. Rather cocked nose, fair complexion, ronnd face, medium make, 5 feet 4 huhes high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a brown dress and brown striped fchawl; is daughter of above. A Warrant has been issued for their arrest. Macroom, 12th March, 1889. ( 95011 c.— 62610.) Description of JAMES MEADE, native of Bally- longane, who stands charged with having, on the 23rd January, 1889, in the barony of Imokilly, parish of Cloyne, indecently assaulted a girl named Ellen Quirk, aged 10 years:— Gray eyes, regular nose, fair com- plexion, round face, stout make, 5 feet 2 inches high, about 17 years of age, lair hair; wore a gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a farm labourer. A Warrant in hands of Constabulary at Cloyne for his arrest. Midlcton, 30th January, 1889. ( 94265 70120.) Donegal. . Description of ANTHONY M'CLAFFERTY ( mother's surname Coyle), nativo of Glenerragh, who stands charged with having, on the 14th January, 1889, at Glenerragh, in the barony of Kilmacrenan, parish of Meevagh, forcibly rescued a prisoner from lawful custody who was arrested for being drunk and disorderly:— Upper front teeth prominent, no Whiskers, beard, or moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, pale sallow complexion, round full face, stout- make, 5 feot 9 inches high, about 22 yeara of » » .<* .- dark hair; wore a dark tweed cap, tweed coat, dark tweed trowsers tweed vest; is a labourer. Ho was in America. Re- turned from Scotland on 1st December, 1888, it is likely- that he has gone there. Tho Sergeant, R. I. C., at Glen, holds a Warrant Tor his arrest. Dunfanaghy, 29th Jan., 1889. Description of JOHN SLEVIN, native of Donegal Town, who stands charged with having, on the 9th December, 1888, in the barony of Tyrbugh, parish of Donegal, assaulted Constable William H. Carton, when in the execution of his duty, and escaped from custody:— Broad square shoulders, thick heavy black eyebrows, and moustache, dark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long face, stout mnke, 5 feet 5 inches high, about 30 years of age, black hair; wore a black cap, dark coat, trowsers, and vest; is a navvy, looks like a coal porter. Description of JOHN LYONS, native of Coraghan, who stands charged with having, on tho 2lst day of February, 1889, in the barony of Dunmore, parish of Dunmore, seriously assaulted Patrick Deskin, by striking him on tho head with a stick, thereby placing his life in danger:— Brown eyes, long nose, sallow complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 52 years of age, brown hair, slightly tinged with gray; wore a low black hard hat, dark frieze coat, dark twoed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, oa the morning of 6th February, 1889, in the barony of Troughenackmy, parish of Tralee, stolen two heifers the property of Denis Barrett, of Tralee ( the cattle have boon recovered) :— Fair complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 22 years of age, brown hair, small brown moustache; wore a black hard hat, dark gray sack coat, snutl colour trowsers. ' King's. • # Descripl ion of the undernamed young offender, who, tho 26tli March, 1889, absconded from tho St. Conleth's Reformatory School at Philipstown:— THOMAS SHERLOCK, No. 1073, between 18 and 19 years of ago, about 5 feet 7 inches high, slight make, pale complexion, weak sight, dark brown hair, brown eyes, long nose, small mouth, oval visage ; 2 middle toes on right foot stuck together. Formerly belonged to 56, Beresford- street, Dublin ; father dead ; mother lived at said place when boy was admitted. The School dress, all with Reformatory Stamp, consists of so't hat, corduroy trowsers, vest and tuaic. Will probably change his clothes and try to get work with a farmer. Tho Manager of tho Reformatory will defray the expenses of his conveyance, if arrested, to the nearest Justice, on remand, nnd will reward tho person who may capture him with £ 1. Limerick. Description of PATRICK HYNES ( mother's surname Moronoy), native of Limerick City, who stands charged with having, on the morning of the 22nd February, 1889, in the borough of Limerick, parish ol St. Mary's, unlawfully and burglariously cnterod tho dwelling house and store of Stephen Tubridy, of Athlunkard- street, in this city, and stolen therefrom the sum of about 15 « .:— Gray or blue eyes, regular noso, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 32 years of age, brown hair; wore a round hard hat, brown tweod coat and vest, much worn, old .. navy blue trowsers, bad old highlow boots. Description of PATRICK DALY, native of Bally- currane, who stands charged with having, on the 11th February, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, parish of Emly, county Tipperary, unlawfully in his posses- sion three bullocks, tho property of R. C. Dobbs, which were sto'en from his farms at Knockgreau and Knocknacrohy, county Limerick, on 4th September and 26th November, 1888 :— Ill- looking, speaks rather loud and partly through Lis nose ; rather long nose, fair complexion, oval face, medium make, 5 feet 8 inches high, about 35 yoarj of age, brown hair; wore a bluish coat, gray tweed trowsers and vest; is a farmer. Description of WILLIAM FARRELL, native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 10th instant, in tho borough of Limerick, parish of St. Michael's, stolen from the house of Walter Baxendale a coat the property of his son, William H. S. Baxendale, which has since been found in a pawn offico:— Gray eyes, regular no3e, fair complexion, broad fac4, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 38 years of age, fair hair, cut short; wora a pray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest, all of which are faded ; is a pedlar and army reserve man. Description ol DAVID BROWN, JUNIOR, native of Tullanoe, who stands charged with having, on tin 6th day of March, 1889, in the Half- barony of Tirkeeran, pariah of Faughanvale, committed a rape on Matilda M'Ginnis, a girl of about 13 years of age ;— Shuffling gait, wants first joint of middle finger of right hand, gray eyes, long nose, fair complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet high, about 16 years of age, fair hair; wore an old navy blue coat, navy blue trowsers and vest; is a cattle drover. Description ol RALPH MANLY alias GORE, native ot England, who stands chargod with having, on the 11th day February, 1389, in the barony of Dundalk, parish of Dundalk, committed forgery and fraud by presenting a forgad chegue to a trader in Dundalk, and obtaining the sura of £ 28 10*. thereon:— Tattooed cross swords and O. M. C. or G. on left fore- arm, hazel eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet inches high, about 25 years of age, brown hair; wore regimentals, but will probably dress in plain clothes; is a private in Royal Scots Greys. Description of a MAN, name unknown, and native place supposed to be Dublin, who stands charged with having, on the 17th January, 1889, in tho barony of Lower Duleek, parish of Knockcommon, stolen four head of catt'e, tho property of Mary Sampson, of Rathdrina:— Shaves all the face and wore a fairish moustache, pale complexion, worn face, medium make, 5 feet inches high, about 40 years of age. Description of EDWARD FOLEY, native of Ballyadams, who stands charged with having, on the 13th day of August, 1888, in the barony of Bally- adams, parish of Ballyadams, taken two ass- loads of hay from off tho lands of Thomas Kemmis, Esquire, at ballyadams, it being lands from which defendant had been evicted:— Brown eyes, regular nose, sallow complexion, round faoe, medium make. 5 feet 7 inchcs high, about 41 years of ago, dark hair, very short, dark whiskers, and dark moustache; wore a wido- awake hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is an evicted tenant. Gab her farm at Mountmicnctt, countj^ Lircerick,^ ho had the same unlawfully in his possession :— eyebrows and moustache, dark beard and whiskT: cut short, regular nose, dark complexion, regular fao 1 slight rr^ ke, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 35 years ot1 age, dark hair p wore a soft dark hat, dark clothes; is, a cattle* jobber. Description of PATRICK DOCKERY, nat'. ve of Ardkeena, who stands charged with having, on various dates in December, 1888, and January, 1889, in the barony of Roscommon, parish of Ogulla, feloniously stolen certain letters and packages the property of the Postmaster- General:— Has high, rather round, shoulders, gray eyos, long nose; pale complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 11 inches high, about 25 years of age, dark hair; gonerally wears a tweed cap); wore a bright tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a Post Office mo? s? nger. Description of MICHAEL KIVEL ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 16th March, 1889, in the barony of Corran, parish of Kilturra, stolen an ass, the property of William Shaw, which has since ben recovered:— Smart, active appearance, wore all his beard which is dark brown, moustache shaved off, regular ncse, sallow complexion, round broad faoe, stout make, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, about 35 years of ago, dark brown hair ; wore a dark hard hat, brown tweed coat ( much worn), corduroy trowsers, j- a'ches on the knees, and tied under the knees with a string ; wore clog3, and a coloured cotton shirt without collar or nock- tie ; looks like a labourer. Description of JOHN M'CORMICK ( mother's surname, Sweeny, native of Toorlestraun, who stands charged with having, on the 13th February, 1889, in the barony of Leyney, parish of Achonry, at Tubbercurry, assaulted Thomas Gallagher, so as to endanger his life :— Left leg appears stiff, when walking, drags it slightly, got a black eye in fight, small mark still remains; gray eyes, regular nose, fair rather pale complexion, rather long face, medium make, 5 fost 8 or 9 inches high, about 22 years of age, dark fair hair; wore a black hard hat, dark sack coat, dark tweed trowsers and vast; is a labourer. Description of WILLIAM BYRNE, native of Dnncummin, who stands charged with having, on the 12th of February, 1889, in the barony of Clanwilliam, ^ parish of Tipperary, had three stolen calves in his possession, knowing them to be stolen. The calves are the property of Mrs. E. Gabbett, Mountminnitt, county Limerick:— Freckled face, small eyes, swarthy complexion, thin face, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 17 or 18 years of ago, dark hair; woro a bright'tweed coat, cordnroy trowsers; is a labourer. Description of JEREMIAH O'NEILL, native of Mallow, county Cork, who stands charged with having, on the 1st day of March, 1889, In the barony of Cosh- more snd CobLbride, parish of LiSmore, stolen a mare, the property of Francis Taaffe, ecq., out of his stablc- vard at Fortwilliam, county Waterford :— Very slight limp, and a very marked lisp when speaking; blue eyes, regular note, fandy complexion, clear- shaved face, stout mako, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 or 26 years of age; is a groom. Description of a MAN, name and native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on tho 25th March, 1889, in the barony of Talbotstown Lower, parisi of Boystown, stolen a mare ( which has been recovered), the property of Michael Miley, which he sold in Wicklow fair, on 26th March, 1889:— Stands erect, brown side whiskers turning gray, chin and upper- lip shaved, sallow complexion, medium make, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, about 40 or 45 years of age; wore a round hard hat, faded tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, tweed vest; appears to be ex- soldier and tramp. LYNAM, of the firm of Balman, Bros., New York, wanted here on Warrant, for obtaining on the 12th intt., by false pretences, tbe sum of £ 150, from an office in this city:— He is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, s'out make, broad shoulders, thick neck, dark hair, face shaved except moustache, which is slightly gray, sallow complexion, gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in black cloth dre.- s coat, clerical pattern, and hard black jerry hat. Tho above Reward will be paid to any one giving information leading to his arrest and conviction on application to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDT, Exchange- court, to whom any information concerning him should be sent. COLLIER, wanted here on Warrant for obtaining goods and money by means of bogus cheques, purporting to be on the London Colonial Bank, 3 (^ Lombard street,. E. C., which is fictitious :— He is about 35 years old,, 5 leet 10 or 11 incl. es high, medium make, fair hair and complexion, sh' vtd face, except small fair moustache, right arm contracted at elbow, in consequence of which he has to hold the pen between his middle fingers when writing; he speaks English and Frcnch fluently. He may be" found wearing a gold English lover watch, No. 10058. and a gold Albert chain, long and short link pattern, and gold seal attached, Information to be given to Superintendent WILLIAM REDDT, Exchange- court, Dublin, who holds a Warrant for his arrest WILLIAM REDDY, Superintendent. 1 Exchange- court, 28th March, 1889. V * as- THE POLICE GAZETTE, OB HUE- AND- CBY, £ PBIL 5, 1889 ^ Particulars relative to Convict JOHN M'KENNA, 908, convicted at Dublin City Sessions, on 26th August, 1884, for false pretences and housebreaking, " entonced to 5 years' penal servitude; 25 years of ago T conviction, single, is a painter, born in Drumcondra, sided bcforo conviction at Dublin, where his friends side :— Brown hair, blue eyes, brown eyebrows, rregular nose, Tegular mouth, fresh complexion, oval visage, stout make, 5 feet 7J inches high; upper front tacfh irregular. ' lids man was released on licence, from Maryborough Prison, on 2nd August, 1888. He r^ ently left his residence, 50, Lower Tyrone- street, Dublin, without reporting to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with uuder section 5 of the Act 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 236 H. c.) Particulars relative to Convict WILLIAM GRIFFIN, c 133, convicted at Omagh Summer Assizes, on 12th July, 1887, for rape, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 32 years of age on con viction, married, is a labourer, born at Fintona, county Tyrone, resided before conviction at Fintona, county Tyrone, where his friends reside; black hair, brown oyos, dark eyebrows, large nose inclined to right, medium mouth; dark complexion, oval visage, pro- portionate make, 5 feet 10 inches high, several cut marks on head, large cut mark on palm of left hand, varicose veins in legs. This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, on licence, 26th July, 1888, and went to Fintona. He failed to make his usual monthly report on the 1st instant, and his prosent whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of 34 & 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 233 H. C.) Particulars relative to convict PATRICK NOLAN, A 899, convicted at Dublin Summer Assizes, on 7th August, 1884, for larceny, and sentenced to 5 years' penal servitude:— 49 years of age on conviction, single, is a labourer; born in Dublin, where he residod before conviction, and where his friends reside; brown hair, hazel eyes, light brown eyebrows, long and thick nose, large mouth, sallow complexion, oval visage, medium make, 5 feet 5 inches high; B. C. on right side, and D. on left, lost a front upper tooth, small brown mole on right shin, This man was released from Mountjoy Prison, 10th July, 1888, on licence, and went to reside at 118, Coombe. He has recently left his residence without reporting to the Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under soc. 5 of 34 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 230 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Derbyshire. AMENDED INFORMATION. Wanted on Warrant, charged with stealing three bullocks, value £ 35, from a field at Aston- on- Trent, in this county, at 7 30 a. m., 19th inst., tho property of Mr. Joseph Turner. The bullocks have bien recovered. By a farm labourer named Benjamin hibbert; ha is c- f tlio following description, viz.:— Twenty years of nge, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, black, hair, roundish face, no whiskers or moustache. Is rather round- shouldered, long neck, prominent throat ( Adam's apple), all his toes are contracted, and he walks heavily on his heels, leans forward and goes with a slouching gait, one leg slightly bowed. Was dressed, black hard felt hat, new bluc- black overcoat, brown check mixture tweed suit, rather worn, light lace- up boots. This man booked by the 3 20 p. m. train on 19th inst., from Derby to Holyhead, and from Holyhead to Dublin, and on the 20th from Dublin to Queenstown. It is thought he intend* going to America, but he cannot be traced arriving at Queenstown, and it is now conjectured that he may have broken his journey en route to tho latter place and commenced drinking. Please cause every possible enquiry to be made, and if found, arrest, and wire to the Deputy Chief Constablo, as below, when an officer will be sent for him and pay expenses. Information requested as to tho whereabouts of licence- holder THOMAS DELANY alias WILSON, released from Her Majesty's Convict Prison, Mountjoy, on the 13th instant, on licence to this city, for the purpose of emigrating to America, but who refused to proceed in the vessel, and his whereabouts are unknown sinca the 16th instant:— He is a shoemaker, native of Tip- perary, 49 years of age, 5 feet 2^ inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, stout build, fresh complexion, oval features large cut sew on outside corner of right gye, • cut on right wrist, wan near corner of right eye, some- what deaf, and last an upper front tooth He was convicted at Birr, King's County, 8th October, 1879, of burglary, after previous conviction, and sentenced to 10 yews' penal servitude. Wanted, for neglecting to notify leaving the district on or about the 1st instant, as required by the Preven- tion of Crimes Act, 1871 :— RICHARD DAVIES, a native of Hinstock, Shropshire, 51 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair, gray eyes, fresh com- plexion, mole on left cheek, and scar on left temple. Convicted at Liverpool Assizes, 8tli May, 1884, of perjury ( committed at the, Liverpool County Court), and sentenced [ to 5 years' penal servitude, but released on liccnce, 12th May last. Since that time he has carried on business" as a ' furniture dealer, & c., at 208, Walton- road, in this city, and obtained quantities of goods from', different firms in various parts of the country on credit, most of which were disposed of by auction soon after their receipt for what they would realize. He id likely to commence a similar business in some other town. Kindly cause careful inquiry to be made, and, if found, arrest and telegraph or com- municate any information you may be able to obtain as early as possible to the Chief Superintendent. Wanted, on Warrant, for embezzling between £ 200 and £ 300, the moneys of his employer, on the 18th instant:— JOHN MASON, 21 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, proportionate build, walks very erect, florid complexion, reddish nose, light yellow hair, and slight yellow moustache, fingers of left hand rather hard through constant playing of the violin. Dressed in black hard billycock hat, light brown dust coat, black coat and vest, and striped trowsers ; carried a light- coloured strong leather cash- bag. He was em- ployed as a flour miller's traveller, and is a native of Market Drayton, Shropshire. Will no doubt attempt to get away to soma foreign country.
