Jonathan had a wonderful habit of speaking to him- self ; he was for ever taking himself in hand and putting himself through his paces. The good he did to himself from first to last was something astonishing. And now, as he mounts to his roof, he is at it. " There now ! I don't wonder at • the missis complaining ; the straw's got that thin. But I'll make a good job of it while I am about it. We'll have no more leaks if I can help it. There's plenty of leaks want stopping in the world besides roof leaks. What's the difference between one chap and another, if it isn't that one stops his leaks and another don't 1 Some folk can't for the life of ' em see the leaks. Where would you be, Jonathan, if somebody had not opened your eves ! God help us to see ' em, I say. There was that public - house leak for one. What a big leak that was to be sure ! Drop ! drop ! drop ! every day in the week. Little leaks, always at it, don't take long to fill a pail, bless you, that it don't. I stopped that, thank the Lord, with a pledge paper, and kept it in with prayer. Then there was the Sunday leak. Many a one have I wasted pottering about and hanging over gates and gossiping ! But that's stopped, too. I wish I could get ' em back ; but it's no use crying over spilt milk. Still, I do wish I had ' em back. But, Jonathan, you've begun at the wrong end ; of course you ought to begin with the biggest leak first. And what was the biggest leak, I should like to know, if it wasn't that great hole through which your soul was slipping down to eternal ruin 1 Ah, that was a leak now. But the Lord Jesus had to take that in hand. He stopped that leak. He put Himself into it. God be praised ! But there's plenty of leaks yet, Jonathan, to be mended. Don't be too proud now. Ask the Lord to open your eyes, and you 11 see ' em by the dozen." REV C. . COURTENAY. ROYAL IRISH WAREHOUSE ALL POLICE OFFICERS SHOULD REFER TO MESSRS. JAMES HICKLAND & CO.' We answer:— In ancient times, when heathenism was rampant, people believed in a god for all good, and a god for all evil ; a god for joy, and a god for sorrow ; a god to give sickness, and a god to heal sickness. Jupiter ruled the land and Neptune ruled the sea. Ceres gave us agriculture, Venus gave us love, and Hebe youth. Now we have grown wiser ; we believe in one God only— whose word was power- ful enough to create EVERYTHING. IS it not possible for that same God to send us one remedy by which we shall cure most things ? There are a great many locks, and to each lock is a key, but it is not every- one who can turn the key. Our " Notesco " is the key to open the doors. Applied externally, it works through the skin and reaches the disease. Taken internally a few times, the doors are opened, the disease escapes like a convict out of gaol, with the intention of never returning. Sickness is just like a burglar— it will steal in, either through a cold, dampness of the houses, adulterated food, o* from the impure, foul air of crowded tenements, or sewer gas, from which we have to suffer, in this and other cities. The thief is inside ; you can't get him out because the key don't fit. We now give you the true key. Our medicine is an enemy to corruption and pain. Any corruption it eats away, any pain it relieves at once. Try it. Be warned in time ; keep a stock of " Notesco " in the house. We claim our " Notesco " is superior to any medicine ever presented to the public, and we claim it with justice. jyOTESCO.— NO MORE CONGESTION of the LUNGS. jyOTESCO.- NO MORE BRONCHITIS. jyCTESCO.- NO MORE SORE THROATS.
