Antrim, Description of ROBERT SWIFT ( mother's surname Clarke), native of Ballycraigy, who stands charged with having, on the 4th December, 1888, in the barony of Upper Antrim, parish of Antrim, stolen two coats, a waistcoat, a pair of boots, and a pair of woollen socks, the property of Alexander Davison, of Ballycraigy, and offered same in a pawn office in Belfast:— Good looking, front teeth prominent, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, medium make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 21 years of age, brown hair; wore a low hard hat, dark tweed coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a labourer. Carlow. r Description of JOHN BRENNAN ( supposed fictitious), native place unknown, who stands charged with having, on the 14th Decembor, 1888, in the barony of Rathvilly, parish of Rathmore, stolen from William Keppel, of Rathmore, two heifers and one bullock, which have been recovered;— Low thick- set man, with small side whiskors and a brown moustache clipped close, fresh complexion, stout make, 5 feet 6 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a soft hat, dark tweed coat, trowsers, and vest. Description of ROBERT MILEY, native of Rathnagnew, county Carlow, who stands charged with having, on the 29th September, 1888, in the barony of Rathvilly, parish of Hacketstown, stolen from Bally- edmond, a heifer, the property of Rose Kelly :— Uo whiskers, small brown moustache, gray eyes, thin nose, fair complexion, thin face, slight make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 30 years of age, brown hair; wore a low soft hat, gray tweed coat, trowsers, and vest; is a labourer.' Description of EDWARD M'KEEVER, native of Arva, who stands charged with having, on the 28th September, 1888, in the barony of Tullyhunco, parish of Killeshandra, stabbed Ellen M'Kenna, thereby placing her life in danger:— Scar over left eye, brown eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, round face, stout make, about 5 feet 6 inches high, about 23 years of age; wore a tweed cap, light brown tweed jacket, trowsers, and vest, and regulation boots; he is a Militia man • jg q labourer. Description of MICHAEL HALLORAN, who stands charged with having, on ibel8th November, 1888, in the barony of Tulla Lower, parish of Kiltenanlea, stolen a purse containing £ 12, viz., three £ 3 and three £ l notes, from his employer's house, Thomas Hickey, of Cappavilla:— Has a white speck on one eye, thin cocked nose, fresh complexion, regular face, medium make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 35 years of age, sandy hair and whiskers, shaves chin; wore a soft brown hat, gray tweed coat, corduroy trowsers, gray tweed vest, and short leather leggings; is a farm labourer. Description of JOHN SLEVIN, native of Donegal Town, who stands charged with having, on the 9th December, 188K, in the barony of Tyrhugh, parish of Donegal, assaulted Constable William H. Carton, when in the execution of his duty, and escaped from custody:— Broad square shoulders, thick heavy black eyebrows, and moustache, ' lark eyes, regular nose, dark complexion, long face, stout make, 5 feet 5 inches high, ab iut 30 years of age, black hair ; wore a black cap, dark coat, trowsers, ana vest; is a navvy, looks like a coal- porter. Description of THOMAS DONOHOE ( mother's surname Connor), native ot Callinafercy, who stands charged with having, on the 18th December, 1888, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Killorglin, stolen six head of cattle, and sold them at fair of Blennerville, on 19th December, 1888:— Smart active gait, Ex- Policeman, served about 4 years in county Limerick, and was recently discharged, no whiskers, moustache very small, gray or blue eyes, aquiline nose, sallow complexion, long face, medium make, 5 feet 9 inches high, about 26 years of age, brown hair} wore a peaked cap, tweed sack coat, tweed vsers and vest. Description of ELLEN M'ENERY, ( mother's surname Breen), native of Ashill, who stands charged with having, in tbe months of September or October, 1888, in the barony of Trughenackmy, parish of Bally- macelligott, murdered her illegitimate male infant :— Slight stoppage or hoarseness in her specqh, dark eyes, long nose, dark sallow complexion, thi/ l face, slight make, 5 feet 4 inches high, about 21 yfears of age, is likely to be found in service with country farmers, was formerly in service in the county Limerick, and may probably make for that place again; ia a servant. Kildare. of THOMAS MARTIN, native of who stands charged with having, on the 888, in the barony of Connell, parish of BilLer, stabbed James M'Donagh; he was ake his trial at ]£ aas Quarter Sessions, on 16th October, 1888, and failed to appear. A Bench Warrant has been issued for his arrest:— Blue eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, thin face, medium make, 5 feet 7 inches high, about 25 years of age, fair hair; wore a black felt hat, brown tweed coat, oordaroy trowsers, and brown tweed vest; is a labourer. Description of ANDREW WALSH, native of Scoaghachlorane, who stands charged with having, on the 10th August, 1888, in the barony of Callan, parish of Callan, grievously assaulted Daniel Butler, whereby his life was endangered. This man was bailed to appear at Callan Petty Sessions, on 1st November, 1888, but has absconded:— Round stooped shoulders, no beard, whiskers, or moustache, blue eyes, regular nose, pale complexion, small thin face, medium make, 5 feot 8 inches high, aboat 30 years of ago, fair hair ; wore a black coat, dark tweed trowsers, and black vest; is a carpenter. Description of JOHN BARBER, native of Drum- saul, connty Monaghan, who stands charged with having, on the night of 16th or morning of 17th Septem- ber, 1888, in the barony of Dartrey, parish of Ematris, ftolcn five yearling calves, the property of Agnes Harper, at Drumsaul, in the county of Monaghan :— P.- marba'ily straight and walks erect, and smart active appearance, gray eyes, regular nose, ruddy complexion, regular face, medium make, 6 feet high, about 26 years of age, fair hair; wore a dark coat, tweed trowsers, and vest; is a servant boy. Description of MARTIN DANIEL, native of Ballyvadin, who is of unsound mind, and who left his home at Ballyvadin, in the barony of Middlethird, parish of Magorban, on the 1st January, 1889, and it is feared may have met with foul plays— Wild expression in eyes, blue eyes, slightly cockcd nose, fair complexion, medium make, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, about 22 years of age, fair hair; wore a round hard hat, dark grey tweed suit, old nailed blucher boots; is a farmer's son. Description of JOHN HEFFERNAN, native of Killucan, who stands charged with having, on the 20th October, 1888, in the barony of Moyashel and Maghera- dernon, parish of Mullingar, broken out of and escaped from the District Lunatic Asylum, where he was confined as a dangerous lunatic:— Skin marked with red scaly marks of disease, brown eyes, ruddy complexion, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high, about 40 years of age, brown hair; wore no coat, trowsers or vest, at the time of his escape; had only a' blue check shirt, and a dark red rug with him. Description of BRIDGET HARTIN, native place Kilmore, near Larkfield, county Longford who stands' charged with having^ on the 17th day of September, 1888, in the barony of Moygoish, parish of Street, deserted her male infant, about 10 days old, by leaving it in Boherquill R. C. Chapel:— Full gray eyes, regular nose, fresh complexion, full fat face, very stout make, under medium size, about 20 or 22 years of age, dark hair; wore a navy blue dress, with one flounce on it, and a dark shawl worn over the head ; occupation unknown ( looks like farm servant). Castlepollard, 26th Sept., 1883. ( 91685 c.— 56777.) WILLIAM JAMES HOGAN, obtaining money by false pretences not arrested ; Hua- and- Cry, 10th July, 1888. ( 89733 c._ 53843.) DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE, 6 Division. Particulars relative to English Police Supervisee, JOHN ANDERSON, convicted at Manchester Sessions, on 1st May, 1878, for stealing £ 1, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude, and 7 years' police supervision :— 25 years of age on conviction, single, is a grocer, born in Belfast, resided before con- viction at Manchester ; light brown hair, light blue eyes fair complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 8 inches high ; cut on right side of head, scar on bend of nose, one vaccination mark on right arm, right eye weak, large pockmark on left shoulder blade and on hip. This man was discharged from Borstal Convict Prison, 15th October, 1883. He failed to report himself to the Belfast Police on the 1st instant, and is supposed to have gone to London. ( 206 H. c.) Particulars relative to English Convict PATRICK, WARD, convicted at Liverpool Assizes, on 26th July, 1882, for wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude :— 54 years of age on conviction,. married, is a labourer ; born in county Kildare ; resided before conviction at Water- street, Widnes:— Gray hair ( bald), gray eyes, sallow complexion, oval visage, proportionate make, 5 feet 1J inches high; scar on forehead, cut on front of right wri9t, poekpit above left elbow, small scar on outer side of left thigh and left side of belly, ruptured right ) ide. This man was released on licence from Chatham Prison, 23rd December, 1877. He recently left the North Dublin Union, his last place of residence, without notifying same to the Metropolitan Police, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under the 5th section of the Act 31 and 35 Vic., cap. 112. ( 209 H. C.) Particulars relative to Convict DANIEL M'DER- MOTT, convicted at Londonderry, on 4th Angost, 1876, for manslaughter, and sentenced to 15 years' penal servitude:— 19 years of age on conviction, single, is a quay labourer, resided before' conviction at Londonderry, where his friends reside; dariTBroflnh hair, blue eyes, dark brown eyebrows, cocked nose, medium month, fresh complexion, oval visage, slight make, 5 feet 3 inches high; large scrofulous scars on throat, and on each forearm, cross and dot between right thumb and forefinger, and two dots between left thumb and forefinger. This man was released on Licence from Mountjoy Prison, on 1st September, 1888, and went to London- derry. He subsequently went to Glasgow where be reported himself on the 6th September, and stated that he was going to reside at 4, Wood- lane, in that city, but on inquiry being made there it was ascertained that he had never been in that house, and his present whereabouts is unknown. In the event of his arrest he should be dealt with under sec. 5 of the Act 33 and 34 Vic., cap. 112. ( 196 H. C.) JAMES A. C.) CHRISTOPHER P. BODKIN, embezzlement, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 26th September, 1888. ( 186 H. C.) Convict JAMES BENSON, A 767, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry, 31st August, 1888. ( 182 H. C.) ENGLISH POLICE. Birmingham. JAMES LAWRENCE, embezzlement, not arrested; Hue- and- Cry 18th September, 1888. ( 185 H. C.) Boston. Description of two horse dealers wanted in this borough, charged by Warrant with conspiring to defraud Joseph Butler of £ 15 on the 15 th instant:— 1. WILLIAM WISE, of Great Hale, who is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, proportionate build, fresh complexion and good locking, brown hair, small brown moustache, and a little whisker down sides of face; dressed in a small gray check suit and hard felt hat; has a respectable appearance. 2. ROBERT TAFT ( supposed in the employ of Messrs. Clark and Mitchell, of Peterboro'), about 33 years of age, 6 feet high, very stout with ruddy complexion, dark hair and moustache, but no whiskers; dressed in a brown check suit and hard felt hat; has a horsey appearance, and walks erect. They both have vans and frequent fairs and markets. HENRY BELLAMY, Head Constable. ( 208 H. C.) Police Station, Boston, November 7th, 1888. Burton- on- Trent. In custody and remanded to the 18th instant, JOHN KING, alias MOONEY, charged with stealing boots from shop door ( recovered), at Burton, on the 3rd instant:— Resided at 17, Ship- street, Dublin, native of Leeds, England, is a Shoemaker, 23 years of age, 5 feet 3£ inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers, brown eyes, proportionate build. Scald mark and anchor left forearm, blue dot between thumb and finger left hand; cut scar near elbow left arm, large scald mark left breast, cut scar on left side, blue dot between thumb and finger right hand, several small scars on forehead, scar back of head, several scars on legs. He is single. Black felt hat, brown mixture cloth jacket, blue serge vest, dark gray striped trousers, red black and amber colored neckerchief. States he has travelled through Ireland as a clog dancer and comic singer, has also worked at his trade as shoemaker in Tullamore, Dublin, Carlow, and Kilkenny. He is supposed to have been previously convicted and may be wanted elsewhere. Should anything be known against him kindly- forward particulars to the undersigned. Description of WILLIAM JAMES HARRIS, native of Bicester Oxfordshire, England, charged with ling 7g. 11 d., the monies of the Alverstoke to whom he was Clerk:— 35 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair parted in centre, small side whiskers and moustache, bine eyes rather inll, smart appearance; dressed when last seen in a light dust overcoat, dark nay cutaway walking coat; dark corduroy racing vest, light check trowsers, wears a gold serpent ring on fonrth finger of left hand. Leeds, Particulars of THEMISTOCLES CONSTANTINE alias LEMONDJOOGLON— Supposed native of Greece, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, very dark complexion, black hair, cut very short, black whiskers and moustache rather short, small dark eyes, long thin nose, medium build, rather thick at waist, sloping shoulders, speaks good English with a foreign accent, has bad feet and is a bad walker ; wore a black frock coat and vest, light striped trowsers very wide, silk hat, and at times a black billycock hat;— charged with obtaining cloth by false pretences, and offences under the Bankruptcy Acts. Id.:— FRANK DAVY, public- house manager, abont 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, slim, fair complexion, and moustache, mrm hair, parted in centre, consumptive- looking, small cut mark over left eye; dressed in brown check rait ( sacque jacket), hard black felt hat, brown cloth overcoat ( new), with velvet collar. Whereas, during the week ending 17th November, 1888, eight forged notes of the Bank of Scotland, for £ 1 sterling each, were passed in different places in this city, and afterwards paid into the principal office in Glasgow of said Bank. The forged notes already passed are all numbered " 5? 8,813," and dated " 9 March, 1887." The paper of the forged bank notes is different in colour and texture from that of the genuine notes. The attention of the police, and of lithographers, engravers, and the public generally is specially directed to this notice. The above Reward is hereby offered to anyone who will give such information, in regard to the forging and uttering ot such bank notes, a3 will secure the conviction of the offender or offenders.
